I've had two dogs who have been clients of Commonwealth Vet over the past 20 years. Each staff person makes us feel like we're the best and most favorite pet and owner. I suspect they make all their clients feel that way! I wouldn't go anywhere else.

I have been taking my dogs Jack and Neptune to Commonwealth Veterinary Hospital for many years. They provide an exceptionally high level of care. All of the staff and the Vets are compassionate very kind and highly skilled. Dr. Kate Wissel has been our primary vet and I am so grateful for all she has done for my pets. From the moment I was referred to Commonwealth Veterinary Hospital, both my beloved Boston Terrier and I were treated with extraordinary care and professionalism. Communication was swift, clear and efficient. The reception staff and technicians were kind and clearly enjoyed their work. Dr. Wissel, who came highly recommended to me by (human) doctor friends of mine, was attentive, sensible and brilliant in her ability to put together the pieces of a complex diagnosis as well as the development of a treatment plan that I feel sure will improve the quality of life of both my dog and me. Overall, I felt confident that we were in the hands of a seasoned, compassionate and topnotch medical team. Highest recommendation, with my deep thanks, too.

We've been with Commonwealth Vet for years. Our current dog, who is a shy guy, loves everyone there! The care is excellent. They are always responsive to question and concerns - and manage to fit in last minute visits. We had a minor emergency on the Cape and they help us out remotely - and helped us find care on the Cape. Everyone who works there is great.

I'v been a client for over 15 years and it was always great.Prices have gone up so much that I don't even want to call.And the care has not gotten better at all to justify it.Plus there are always new vetsTwo wellness checkups for my dogs, one with an an ear exam and meds I can buy on Amazon, cost over $1000!That's up 40%That's borderline gougingAnd the problem didn't even clear upThe only reason that I stay is some misguided loyaltyand that appointments are usually available.But I am thinking pretty hard about a new place

Commonwealth Vet is amazing! The staff and clinicians are welcoming, efficient, knowledgable and kind. It is always easy to reach someone and get same day appointments. I have never had to wait more than a few minutes. They recently helped me say goodbye to a beloved dog, and the whole experience was really supportive. A week later, we received a card from them, signed by all the staff, expressing their condolences. It was really thoughtful. And, finally, the actual medical care is excellent!

Dr Carpenter takes wonderful care of our elderly kitty Luna Lovegood. He always has time for questions, and promptly responds to emails. He is very sensitive to the bond we have with Luna, and makes sure we know what signs to look out for as she ages. We are long time patients of CVH with multiple cats, and have always appreciated the gentle care the entire staff offer our kitties.

LOVE Commonwealth Veterinary Hospital!!! I have been trusting them with my fur babies since 2007 and have never been disappointed! Top-knotch all the way! Everyone who works there is caring, attentive, and highly skilled. They take their time to get to know you and your pets, and they are always there to answer any questions, or give support in anyway. Commonwealth Veterinary Hospital has been such a great place for our furry family members. This facility is very different from any other place we have been. I have been taking my cats here for a couple of years. We even moved about 20 minutes away and still will travel to Newton to go see then. They are always on time, very clean, extremely professional, and super loving! The vet techs and the vet know exactly what they are talking about. You can be sure you're in good hands. Our cats mean everything to me, and I would highly recommend this wonderful place to anyone! Thank you for all you Commonwealth Vet Hospital!

Our dog tested posted for lyme disease over the summer. Dr. Wolf told my family not to treat him (even though it turns out, he also had protein in his urine at the time).They shouldn't have listened to her - because he DIED from lyme nephritis 3 weeks ago - a deadly outcome of untreated lyme. He spent his last days alive in a kennel in the ICU trying to survive, but he died at the hospital - not even able to make it home.Dogs who test positive for new lyme infections need TREATMENT, especially, when there is protein the urine.. yet she still didn't treat him.Had he been given the standard of care that he deserved, this horrible tragedy could have been avoided.Our hearts are forever broken, and I can only hope no other dog is subjected to this negligence. Go elsewhere!!

For several years we were very happy with Commonwealth Vet. The last few years we lost confidence in them. They were our vet for about 6 years. Our dog passed away of cancer from two tumors that we were told were "most likely benign" which turned out to not be the case and it was too late to do anything. After our dog's death Commonwealth didn't bother to send a condolence card or a simple email to acknowledge the passing of our beloved dog. That was surprising and disappointing given how long we were with them and the money we spent there over the years. We received flowers from our groomer and even Chewy, the online site where we purchased medications. Commonwealth knew our dog had passed away as the ashes were delivered there, but I never heard another word from them. It wouldn't have taken a minute for our vet to send a short message. Pretty lousy I think.We did like the front desk staff. They were always helpful and pleasant to work with.
