Our guy Frank actually pulls us into the office. What dog is excited about the vet??? Frank is. He greets everyone like he hasn’t seen them in forever and cant wait to be taken back for his exam. This reaction from our loving, trusting dog tells us that he’s in a good place. The staff is amazing and are so good to our extremely excited and nosey dog. Thank you Banfield of Newton!!

I had a wellness plan for my cat at Banfield Pet Hospital for several years, and my overall experience has been utterly terrible. The worst came during the final days of my cat's life. My cat had been in and out of Banfield as well as the ER, and they were well aware of his rapidly declining condition. When I desperately needed advice about end-of-life care, I called Banfield two days in a row, asking to speak to his vet urgently. Each time, the front desk assured me that the vet would call me later that day, but those calls never came. They left me alone, abandoned, and utterly heartbroken, forced to make the painful decision to put my cat down without the guidance and support I should have received from his supposed caregivers. To add insult to injury, after my cat had passed away, Banfield had the audacity to attempt to charge me $133 for the upcoming two months of my wellness plan, despite knowing that my cat was no longer with us. I had to call and argue with them to rectify this absurd and heartless oversight. It's beyond comprehension how a company can demonstrate such a lack of empathy and basic decency. In addition to this nightmarish end experience with Banfield, I've had many disappointments throughout my time with them. Banfield's practice of mostly conducting drop-off appointments is very frustrating. It's nearly impossible to have a meaningful conversation with the vet and get your questions answered when you're forced to drop off your beloved pet and then wait for hours without any updates. This lack of communication is not only frustrating but also concerning when it comes to the well-being of our furry family members. I always hated leaving my cat just waiting all day at the place that stressed him out the most.Furthermore, Banfield Pet Hospital seems to have a knack for consistently running behind schedule and being understaffed. Phone calls often go unanswered and never returned. In conclusion, Banfield Pet Hospital has proven time and time again that they prioritize profit over the well-being of the pets they are entrusted with. Their negligent care, poor communication, and utter disregard for their clients during moments of extreme vulnerability are inexcusable. I would strongly advise anyone considering their services to look elsewhere.

I send both of my cats here and I love it! Everyone is so kind to me and my animals! After being so pleased with the service, I actually applied and am now working here as a VA! Everyone is super hard working, and very detail oriented! I’ve never felt so welcomed and valued at a job! Everyone here makes sure each animal is treated with dignity and respect, and enjoys their time here! I really respect my coworkers and would recommend this banfield to everyone!

Banfield hospital is pets and owners friendly. Staff always trying to assist and be helpful. It's a great place for routine checkups with convenient monthly payments.

Great vet in Newton area. They are friendly and helpful when it came to our new puppy. A monthly payment plan is offered and that drastically reduces cost during the first year of having a pet. They make the appointments quick and convenient. If you need any medications they also stock most in store, or will verify through chewy very quickly. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a vet

I have nothing but good things to say about Banfield Newton. I'm at the vet very often and they're always able to accommodate last minute appointments when urgent. My 13/14 year old dog had to have her eye removed; Dr. Richards performed the enucleation and did an excellent job. I've had people and other vets compliment her work on the eye removal. My other pup is reactive and has to be muzzled at the vet; they've done an incredible job caring for him. I do recommend Banfield Newton for your pup's care.

My experience at Banfield in Newton was incredibly frustrating. I had scheduled a drop-off appointment for my dog at 8 AM and made it clear that I needed to pick up my dog by 11:30 AM because of work. I informed the front desk about my time constraint, and they assured me they would relay the message to the doctors. However, when I arrived, the front desk asked if they could administer certain vaccines without consulting me first, to which I agreed.About 20 minutes later, I received a voicemail from the clinic, stating that my dog was due for specific vaccines and asking for my permission to administer them. I called back immediately, but unfortunately, my calls went unanswered, with each attempt going to voicemail. Frustrated and concerned, I decided to drive to Banfield at the scheduled pick-up time to inquire about their phone situation.Upon reaching the front desk, I asked if their phone was working properly. The receptionist informed me that they had been busy and apologized for not answering my calls. I explained that a doctor had called me and requested a response, even though I had already provided an answer before I left. The receptionist apologized once again and stated that it would take an additional 20 minutes. After waiting for 25 minutes, I inquired about the delay, but instead of addressing my concerns, the front desk employee engaged in a side conversation for a few minutes, knowing I was in a hurry. Eventually, she went to the back to check on the status. Upon returning, she informed me that they were waiting for the Benadryl before administering the vaccine. I expressed my frustration, but the front desk remained silent.Throughout my wait in the waiting area, I noticed that two of the front desk staff members were not as busy as they had made it seem. They were engaged in non-work-related conversations, while only one of them was actually attending to their duties. It was disheartening to witness such unprofessional behavior.Nearly an hour later, a vet tech finally approached me to ask some questions regarding my dog's vaccine history. I reminded her that all the necessary information should be in my dog's records, and they should know which vaccines she was due for. The tech acknowledged this and stated that it would take an additional 7 minutes. I reluctantly waited for another 15 minutes. When my dog was finally brought out, I asked if they could charge my card on file because I was running late for work. The tech said she would check if the card was on file, but then proceeded to help other people without addressing my urgent request. After waiting for an additional 5 minutes, I approached her and explained that I really needed to leave and requested that they charge my card on file. She confirmed the card details, and I left the establishment feeling even more frustrated.I am extremely disappointed with the unprofessionalism displayed by this establishment. It was the worst experience I have ever had, and I strongly advise against bringing your pet to this clinic.

A bunch of crooks do not bring your pet here, all they do is take take and can never pin point what is wrong with your pet. Go find other options then this place there are cheaper alternatives. You pay a monthly plan but still come out paying out of pocket with so many charges... I'm glad I took my pets out of this scam of a hell hole. There not even knowledgeable at what they do all there doctors suck.

Needed 2 travel health certificates for my dog under short notice. I informed them of this from the beginning. I was told if I dropped my dog off first thing today, they could have the certificates in time for my travel on Wednesday. I dropped the dog off when they opened at 8 AM, and was told it would be around $400. About an hour later they called me and said it would now be double that, since I needed two certificates lone EU and one UK) but they knew that from the beginning. Now they want to double the price?? I told them to just do the EU one and I would get the UK certificate in the EU. Suddenly, they cannot get the certificates done in time. The whole thing reeks of bait and switch and extortion tactics. They think they have me over a barrel so they double their prices? And when I balk they suddenly cannot get it done in time? Explain to me why the price *doubles* when it is the exact same information on both certificates and they are going to the same place (the USDA office)? Either way, just terrible business practices. I would avoid this place like the plague. If you do use them, expect to be hit with "unexpected" charges that may double your bill too!

Brought my dog in to get his paws checked out. I chose a drop off appointment, dropped him off at 9am. When I dropped him off the girl at the front desk asked me at what time I would like to pick him up I said around lunch time. 2pm comes around I call them to check on him they told me they were gonna start working on him, and that he would be done around 3pm. So I go inside to wait for him again another girl at the front desk tells me that they did an exam on him and he wasn’t gonna be done till around 4/4:30pm. Moral of the story my boy was there all day, Probably in a crate with no food, no water, and probably very scared not knowing what was going on. This establishment is very unprofessional, they don’t care about your pet and all they want is your money. Can’t wait till my plan is over to find another vet would not recommend Banfield Pet Hospital if you love your dog specially the one in Newton, MA.

I have had a similar experience to other recent reviews. We had been going to Banfield for over 8 years with 2 dogs on wellness plans. But now we cannot get them on the phone and if we are lucky we get a call back within 10 days. This has been the norm for the last few months.I have received no communication that puts my pets' health first to let me know that due to larger than normal volumes of patients and/or other constraining factors that Banfield would not be able to render services reliably.During this time period, one of my dogs had a health issue and we needed to be seen to make sure she would be okay. I called repeatedly. I was worried about her. We attempted to make an appointment but due to the aforementioned circumstances, we could not, receiving no communication back for almost two weeks. We ultimately went to another veterinarian.I am extremely disappointed in the sheer lack of professionalism and more than anything, the lack of care and thought for my pets. If only Banfield could return my calls and schedule appointments as consistently as they took my money.Edit - Forgot to add...Banfield is currently making it very difficult to cancel our wellness plans despite presenting them with these circumstances. We were able to be seen by another vet within 48 hours. Save yourself the headache and heartburn and find another vet. They are making it quite clear it's not you or your pet they care about, it's your $.

Paying 600 in total for just radiology, compared to another pet emergency clinic where they did more comprehensive test for cheaper. How is an emergency hospital cheaper when I’m paying 60 a month already for Banfield. You’re Better off going to a regular pet clinic that doesn’t have paid membership, also other clinics give better military discount as well.

I have had an AWFUL experience with this location. My dog has been getting infections on and off for the 9 years he has been alive. Banfield has always gave us the same medication for treatment. I brought him in a month ago to get medication because the ear infection was back and they gave us the same drops.During his follow up apt I let them know that one ears infection did NOT go away. (The gunk was CLEARLY still there) They told me it was cleared up and send us home. Not even a week later it got worse. I called them and asked for refill the prescription they said they do not to do that. I asked for the vet to call me when they are available and the man I was talking to was Incredibly rude and told me he spoke to the vet on my “behalf”.Not to mention they always PUSH for the drop off apt which I have done in the passed but the last 2 times and BOTH times my dog was left in the crate and clearly was not checked up on because he chewed through his harness the first time and his leash the second time.My dog was also diagnosed with diabetes and the vet showed me where to give him insulin. After I took him to his regular vet she was SHOCKED, and said that is not where the injection should go.Do yourself a favor and go to any other location! We had a GREAT experience with the Framingham location.

First time here and the staff was amazing. They all seemed happy and loved what they do which is being around other animals. I had no expectations before walking in, but this location surely exceeded my expectations. The way they interacted with my dog and how they carried themselves when explaining to me the different health plans etc. What I also like is they did not try to 'play' me and sell me things I did not need. They were very straight-forward and to the point not hunting for dollars from your wallet. Which I was so appreciative of. Because I do not have time for those establishments that feed you BS to get a bang out of your buck. Will be back for another appointment in the future.

I had an appointment at 10:30. I did arrive a couple of minutes late. But I had to wait in the check in line for over ten minutes because no one was at the check in desk. They said they they were understaffed and they couldn’t see my cat. The person in front of me was also having issues with scheduling/lack of communication. With this being my first impression of the place, I won’t be coming back

TERRIBLE service. my cat had an obstructed blatter last week and went to the ER and then i brought him to banfield for a follow up. The staff was extremely difficult and unorganized and unprofessional. I also called this morning to ask a follow up question and it took FOREVER and many calls before someone picked up and then they hung up on me. not to mention the medication they gave to relieve his symptoms where proven useless by another vet and multiple studies. they have no clue what they are doing.

The best pet hospital so far, we and our cat love all the doctors and nurses here, always recommend this place to all the people who care for their pets. So far we did couple teeth cleanings and annual check ups- always very attentive doctors who try to comfort our cat!

I’m a first time dog owner and was having a lot of trouble getting my new puppy in for a first time visit this week (thanksgiving week). I called over a dozen places and Banfield in Newton was the only one that was both friendly and got us in for a visit! The office is SUPER clean and modern, the staff greeted us and we were brought right in the exam room. The tech was incredibly nice and worked great with my pup. We saw Doctor Cone and she was very knowledgeable and personable, and took the time to go over everything in detail and answer our questions. She gave my puppy a shot and she didn’t even flinch. We will absolutely be back to Banfield in Newton as our primary vet and the monthly plan they offer is an amazing deal which I would highly recommend as well. Overall the experience here was outstanding!

I didn’t have a great experience today at Banfield Vet Hospital in Newton. I had an appointment for my puppy to get what ended up being a single vaccine shot. I had to wait 30 minutes in line before checking in. Once I checked in I was asked to put him on a scale. I may be paranoid, but it seemed dirty and as my puppy isn’t fully vaccinated this didn’t seem like a great idea. He was then taken away and I was told he would be 30 minutes so to wait at the front of the store or get a coffee. At all other vets I have been at (including another Banfield in Natick) you go back in a room to have the consultation. During this time I was called and left a voice mail saying he didn’t need one of the vaccinations. When I tried to call back a message indicated that Banfield was closed! So I had to come back in to the store to provide approval for him getting only one shot (and was told there was something up with the phones in a very unapologetic way). Finally after 40 minutes, and waiting up front most of the time so that the front guy could see me to avoid further time delays, my puppy was finally returned. I had asked for his ears to be checked as he had previously received treatment for an ear infection but there was no mention of that. I don’t know if I came at a busy time, or if they are just understaffed, but overall not a great experience :-(.

If I could give it no stars I would! I got a quote the first time I called that was telling me exam and shots were close to $300 I called again snd was quoted & 166.16 free first visit coupon I was told I would drop him off for an hr. I showed up and was told it would be $253. I showed the quote and free exam voucher. My exam for my dog was early he was getting a annual exam and four shots and they told me to pick him up 7 hrs later!!! I was leery about leaving him but but money is tight he needed his shots and exam and I have been disabled The last 5 yrs. I head home which is approximately a 20 minute drive. I get home and after about 30 minutes a phone call from Banfield telling me two of the vaccines which being given today would need to be boostered in 3 weeks which I had never heard of before as my dog is 11 yrs old. I am familiar with vaccines and yearly exams. No longer able to work full time and disabled for 5 years sadly you have to shop around for the best prices. Which is devastating as my dog is my baby So that would be a office exam so on top of the fees of today I would owe another $130. I said no shots I am immediately coming for my dog I was lied to told initially 1 hr then today told to pick him up at 5 pm for a 10 am appointment WHAT?!!! I proceeded to say are you sticking my dog in a kennel for 7 hours ? The response I received was well we have alot of dogs today!!! I would stay far far away from here if I were you!!

Terrible location with incompetent staff. After making an appointment for my dog to be seen after she was not improving from a previous visit, they refused to see her when I brought her in. I even had to suggest at the prior visit it would not be safe to sedate a dog with active vomiting. Absolutely horrible. Their front office staff varies between incompetent and uncaring. I would 100% recommend a different location or a different vet service altogether.EDIT: I took my dog to another vet who found she was profoundly dehydrated, something they COMPLETELY MISSED at this location. I had recommended an x-ray to rule out obstruction at the prior visit, and I was told it wasn’t necessary. What’s the first thing the other vet wants to do? An x-ray! Imagine that!

Will never take my pets here again. Made an appointment a week in advance for 7AM confirmed via phone. Get a call the night before my appointment saying they changed it to 9:30 AM. Call to say I work at 8 AM and that doesn’t work for me which is why I specifically made it for 7 AM. Tells me she can’t help me and I would need to drop him off and then somehow find a way to pick him up during their business hours which is the same hours I work so that is not possible. Then tells me to just reschedule my appointment for a later date after I’ve already scheduled a week ahead for an immediate concern that I have with my dog. Ask if they can make an exception as this mistake is 100% on them and she says no. Will never trust my dog in their care ever again. Unorganized and poor communication. Now I’m scrambling to find another vet who can see him for what could be a tumor.

I went to Banfield Newton MA for an international health certificate to travel with my cats. I paid around 650 USD. I have traveled many times internationally with my pets so I am extremelyfamiliar with the process. I didn't get the certificateback until i was already on the air on my way out ofthe country 9 DAYS after I took my pets to bechecked out. I got 3-4 different stories as to way itwasn't ready, I reapeteadly asked to speak with themanager and the Vet that saw my cats and neitherfaced me or called me back. The delay, according toone of their version is that the Vet, Dr. Bryce, inverted a number, get that! that lack of attention todetail in something so delicate and the lack ofprofessionalism where neither the manager or herdeign to face the client.

I have been being my 3 cats to Banfield for almost 3 years now. They were originally seen in the Natick location but when Covid hit, we couldn’t get any appointments there so we tried out the Newton location. Up until this year, I have had nothing but good experiences with Banfield but recently one of my cats has developed a limp in one of his hind legs. Ok, bring him to the vet, see what’s up. Simple enough right? Wrong. They’ve been completely ignoring my concerns for his hip/leg and just focusing on his ears. He has been having some difficulty with ear infections, which don’t get me wrong, I want him to be better. BUT! They still did not tell me ANYTHING about his limp. At first it was “he just has a lame. He’s fine” but seeing him gradually limp more and more, I voiced my concerns at his follow up for the ear infection. Still nothing. Didn’t even comment on it whatsoever, focused only on his ear. The final straw to removing him and my other 2 cats from Banfield all together was them saying they don’t even see a limp at his last appointment! How do you not see it when it’s clean as day!Whatever you do, find a different vet! Banfield does not take your concerns seriously and may even just ignore them all together!EDIT: Avoid their care plans at all costs! It seems wonderful at first knowing spay/neuter and all vaccines are included but they will NOT let you cancel it if you chose to remove your pet from their care!Second EDIT: I took my cat to another vet today and found his limp was not for nothing and we would’ve had answers soon has Banfield done an X-ray at the original appointment for his limp! Found out he has necrosis of the femoral head, so now he needs to have orthopedic surgery to repair this! The surgery would’ve been needed no matter when it was caught, but he could’ve already received said surgery and been on the mend had Banfield listened!!

For 6 years I was bringing my pup to Banfield and watching the organization, communication and reliability plummet in the Braintree and Newton franchises. We have moved on to a better veterinarian. After two weeks with the new veterinarian I regret not leaving sooner. I no longer have to call the Newton Banfield to ask where my pup’s prescriptions are, why they keep sending them to the wrong pharmacies, why they didn’t call me when something on my account was incorrect…etc. To those that have not yet moved on, but have thought about it…do it. To those that already have moved on…amazing isn’t it?

This is a dangerous pet hospital, wishing we never went here to begin with. A simple spay nearly cost our puppy's life, we needed emergent repeat surgery a few days after due to an infected abscess around her incision. The front desk and vets were minimally responsive and not concerned about the large amount of swelling, redness and drainage after the surgery. However, they were very proactive when it came to discretely charging for items that had nothing to do with the purpose of the visit. Not a fan of leaving negative reviews but I feel it is important for others to know when their pet is in unsafe hands.
