Such a cute bookstore, they have a great selection and have discounted books as well! The building they are located in also has shops and a cafe. A great place to spend a rainy day. They also have seating throughout so you can get a good look at the books before buying. Also have a large children's section. Definitely reccomend if you're looking for a nice local bookstore or somewhere you can sit down with coffee and book to relax.

Charming bookstore for a rainy afternoon outing. They've done a great job stocking a wide range of books, especially for a smaller store. There are a few chairs available, if you want to take your time looking through a book. The staff is friendly and helpful, and we found the selection of books we were looking for.

Biggest and best independent book store in the area organized by subject. Large inventory. Very helpful staff. If they don't carry a particular title, they will order it for you.

Lovely bookstore - staff are so friendly and helpful, and the selection is surprisingly extensive for an independent bookstore. My favorite part is their used book room, where I always find some sort of treasure. Definitely recommend!

I went in Friday night at 6:45. The person on staff quickly told me they closed in 15 minutes. She did locate the book I was looking for which evened out her curt welcome.

One of the best bookstores I have been! I frequent bookstores in every country and city I visit and boast a beautifully and classically curated library. This wonderful 2 story bookstore has so much depth as far as classic offerings and the newest NYT bestsellers along with curated magazine collections and other tid bits of cute little gifts.The run on sentence above probably suffices to convey my deep emotional attachment to this gem of Newburyport that I visit religiously on every business trip to town.Oh! And do pick the owner’s thoughts and check out her suggestions: delightful and always on point!

I remember this gem of a bookstore from my childhood and when I cam home to visit a friend took me. The quaint shop nestled in The Tannery with its natural wood and prominently displayed books made perusing a pleasure. This is NOT a big box store but a shop-around-the-corner feel. Writing cards, children's books, local author and out of print titles can be found downstairs nestled on wood plank shelves. Goinf Upstairs boast pictures of supporting an African school. Upstairs presents art, science and teen titles.I love that it's all about books and NOT selling tons of trinkets. Wandering and browsing is free but be sure to support small local business with a purchase.

The perfect place to cozy up and read a book! The selection is one you can get lost in, but in the best way possible. The tall labyrinthine stacks make exploring this bookstore a book-lover’s fantasy. The seating is top notch, the books are abundant, and the staff are dedicated to their bookstore. Quiet, magical, and not too far from the sea.

Love this bookstore! I've purchased about 10 books here so far and I really like the place. The people are friendly and helpful. Good selection of books. They have events about every other Friday (sometimes every Friday) and speakers, all very interesting and laid back. You can sit outside the bookstore in the main hall of the tannery marketplace and read, relax and drink coffee. I love this place.

We just moved to town and one of the first things we went looking for was a great independent bookstore. And we found it! The staff is incredibly helpful. We have been trying to find some more of Liam O'Flaherty's work and they were able to order right away which a couple other stores weren't able to do. It has a great selection of genre fiction (always a bonus for us), they have a robust kids section as well. I haven't gotten to fully explore but I will. And they are doing such a good job in a pandemic world.

This the cozy independent bookstore that you can get lost in the stacks looking at books for hours on end. staff is knowledgeable and they can order any book you want. They also have a great used books section

This is a beautiful hidden gem of a bookstore. I was on vacation at Hampton Beach and me and my daughter drove down to this bookstore. It is set in a little mall with a bunch of other little shops that have such beautiful things like goat soap that smells so good. The bookstore has an upstairs with all books for teenagers and children and just some really nice books. It is set up perfect and they are great at helping you find something you're looking for and if they can't find it they will order it for you. Everyone was so friendly. There are three bathrooms connected to that bookstore I just can't say enough good about this bookstore. I plan to go back every year I am on vacation at Hampton. Out of all the bookstores we visited on vacation which we went to about eight of them this was by far our favorite.

They had a fair amount of books, and everything was like a typical small business book store which is always great. The two women who I met working there were extremely unfriendly! When I asked one to look up a book for me to see if they had it she rolled her eyes at me and another one I was going to ask a question and she briskly walked me to the sections and was a little cold. Otherwise it was a pretty neat book store :)

Still doing excellent work during this pandemic! Called for help selecting books for my nephew's birthday. Steve was so knowledgeable and gave plenty of excellent recommendations. Books arrived in great condition and with plenty of time, even with a beautiful gift bag. Highly recommended!

A classic New England bookshop. You are sure to find much to interest you here. The books are well chosen and attractively displayed. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. It probably cannot be helped, but almost everything is at full cover price--I compared a few titles with Amazon, which had them for several dollars cheaper. There is a separate room of used books that didn't get a good look at. I recommend this place because I love these small New England bookstores, especially the local sections!

Jabberwocky is the book shop you hope stays in business forever. Amazon is fine, but you can't hold the volume in your hands and turn the pages. I picked up several books I would never have looked for on line. The store is in Mill No 1 on the first level. ENJOY!!!

Quirky, well stocked, comfortable. There was a bluegrass band playing while we were there. There is a neat area in the tannery where you can sit and read. Nearby coffee and food. Great kids section.
