this review is for an older purchase. About 3 years ago I bought two red ear slider turtles from them. I didnt know too much about them at the time I just really liked the way they looked in an aquarium. I made it a point to ask the girl who was helping me what I would need for the setup. I asked her if they needed a light (every picture I see of them they are basking on a log), she said no they didnt. Thought it was weird but I assumed she knew what she was talking about. I asked her about the spots on one of their shells and she said it was nothing and that they were fine. After about a week I noticed the spots were getting bigger and had now shown up on the other turtle. I did some research and found out they had shell rot which is contagious and forms from them not getting vitamin D from sunlight. I felt stupid for blindly taking her advice but seeing as she worked in a pet shop I figured she knew what she was talking about considering she answered my questions with a lot of confidence. I went to another pet shop called cold blooded in acushnet and they helped me out with a proper set up. Within one week the spots were gone and they have been healthy ever since. I would suggest doing your own research before buying any living creatures from them, or going to another shop and talking to a professional,

… I previously told fellow Aquarists that Patnaude’s Aquariums and Pet supplies was “Either, a hit or miss”.... I’m writing this review to try to explain that statement a little better. I’m an Aquarist, an avid hobbyist and a planted tank fanatic! ... I sometimes shop online for aquatic related supplies, but definitely enjoy the ambiance, and the potential for learning and discovering new things that a local fish shop can provide… Also Patnaude’s is a private, Mom and Pop type business and I like to support those type of enterprises rather than the large chain stores that start with the letter P……. Typically the smaller local shops provide better, more accurate service and information, and I wish I could say that about my LFS, Patnaude’s…..... I’m in there at least once or twice a week. Sometimes just for the distraction from a hectic daily life. I find peace and tranquility amongst the tanks and inhabitants and usually walk out with some kind of purchase. Most employee’s know me and I’m often greeted with a smile, which is immediately returned. Like most people I value good customer service. It’s why I’m there and not ordering my supplies from an online vendor. Now, I would like to explain a recent circumstance that prompted me to write this review. I’m not at all someone who would normally do so. I consider myself to be fairly tolerant and accepting, not someone who needs to critique every event or social interaction. But this is business and more importantly, it’s my passion and love... When encountered with extremely poor, lurid and heinous customer service in a place that I usually find serenity, I feel I must react…Without specifics or using names, I'll simply state that a Patnaudes's employee treated me with such extreme disregard and contempt earlier in the week that I walked out of there with the mindset that, ” I’ll never be back! .. No way will they get my business!.. EVER !! ..“. I was HOT! ... I wanted results. I wanted to share my experience with anyone who planned to shop there and persuade them not to… But the week went on and I found myself back at Patnaudes in need of a specific item… With my last experience fresh in my head, I approached this new venture with speculation and perceptiveness…. So, as I walked into the fish-room, located in the back of the store, I see the very same employee that I was so turned off by. Thinking to myself, “ I can’t / won't go through this again”... I decide to take my query directly to the individuals (that I believe) actually run the business and not to the other, younger employee that had been less than helpful previously. To be fair and a bit more specific the item I was looking for is rare and not often sold in fish stores or even in the U.S., but within minutes not only were my needs met, but they added additional information and behaved in a courteous, respectful, polite manner…...... “Hit or Miss, Right?”…..This business has been providing our community with a variety of Pets and Pet supplies for (I think) over thirty years… The changes in their business model has been relative to the times we live in, but the ability to provide good customer service is key and a breaking point for consumers and businesses alike….

I purchased a puppy from here almost two weeks ago. I recently brought him to the vet for a puppy check-up and they found out that he has tapeworm, roundworm, hookworm and giardia. I am extremely frustrated with finding this out as I have documents from this establishment stating that he had two treatments of de-worming and clearly fallacious. When I called to inform the staff, the tone of the woman became extremely defensive and informed me that they clean their cages and sanitize their cages daily. I then mentioned the documents that they gave me about my dog's medical record where it shows he had vaccinations for de-worming and they basically said he came with those vaccinations and that I would have to call the breeder. I asked for them to pay for the added expenses of medication to eradicate the ailments and they did not agree to. I was then told that Patnaude's would not pay for the medicine for de-worming him. Well, perhaps they should not provide documentation stating he has been vaccinated and that he does not have worms, only to find out he does.At the conclusion of our conversation, I informed the woman that I felt responsible for informing them that my dog's ailments are contagious--not only can other dogs contract it but humans can, as well. I would not want another dog or person to get sick. She seemed to be grateful of this, but was completely uncaring of what my poor dog is going through and the fact that they were absolving any responsibility for selling me a dog with ailments and passing the buck along to the breeder.I would suggest to those individuals that want to purchase a pet from here to ask a lot of questions and do some research before hand. I will not tell you not to purchase an animal here, the choice is ultimately yours, but take heed of this experience. Patnaude's lost a customer; I will not be purchasing another dog from here, or any other pet supplies either.

Customer Service is horrible..They have unexperienced employees that dont have any knowledge of aquariums.. young teenagers only there for a paycheck.. There policy is not fair at all...I use to be a good customer & always liked Patnaudes..But honestly, this place has changed for worse..All they care about is taking your money..I will never go there and purchase anything again..I am taking all my buisness to Petco.. they all about caring, good customer skills,& great deals...
