Went to the register with my purchase and the electronic card reader prompted me to enter the phone number for thecoupon. I entered the first 6 digits of my phone number and the screen went blank and the cashier requested the full amount of the transaction. She informed me I should have presented the coupon first. I requested that the sale be voided and entered again she said she couldn"t do that. What a rip off!

I feel like the best employee working for the church st location is the girl who always wears a bun dark hair she told me her name when I asked but I forget I want to say stephanie. She knows her stuff and is very helpful. I have to say every time I go in no one ever greets you or smiles. That’s a shame. Glad this lady does. Kudos to her

the new kid they hired is amazing… however, the older woman with the fake eye brows and darker hair.. is miserable and should not be working with people. at all! would be giving this a one star if it weren’t for the new trainees common decency and kindness as well as his patience.

Me and my friends went here after school and we were listening to all the instruction they gave up because they miss treat the Voc students when most of them did nothing wrong and the lady started yelling at us. So I politely said in a low tone “miss we are customers too” and she screamed that I was barking at her and the man that also worked there slammed the door and they kick us out for doing nothing wrong.

Wentt to the church st location over the weekend after 6ish I was having the worst day, legit tears before I got out of my car. That all changed when I walked inside and was greeted by Stephanie.( I asked for her name for this reveiw) she turned my frown upside down. No but seriously she made me laugh and asked if I was okay she helped me with my daughter too becasue my baby was acting up. Lol her patience and customer service defintly deserves more then 5 stars!! I wish the others I've encountered at that store especially the one who wears the bandna (I won't get into detail.) Acted or treated others like she does.. ❤️ the way we treat others can either make or break a day, and mine was for sure made!!! Way to go Stephanie. Keep that beautiful smile on your face and most of all thank you ❤️

The language being used about baby's mama drama while customers are waiting in line and nobody's at the register because everybody's in the office discussing how they're going to "rip off the face of some girl" (laced with expletives). I can't help but only leave a one star review. It's bad enough your shelves are empty but this kind of behavior? Listen we all have bad days but take that outside ain't no reason that any woman and her young children or any elders should have had to hear what I just heard.

This place is garbage! The people are just awful who work here. Not to mention it says it open at 8 then the lady rolls up at 8 and says we’re not opening till 8:15. She is always rude and ignores customers. If you don’t like your job get a different one! It’s not life or death it’s retail. Get over it! Will not be going again. There are plenty of other places to shop.

Good selection & great prices. There is only ever 1 person cashing out & it's often really slow. One of the managers (tall guy with short dark hair) just walks around and shoots the sh*t with people instead of helping.

I love this location on church st. Everyone us always so courteous and friendly. This is my favorite Dollar General store. It is always so nice and neat. Love shopping there. I feel I spend more money there cause it looks so inviting. I love the manager, Luanne. She is excellent and seems to care for the store. Keep up the good work ladies.Iris

I absolutely LOVE Dollar General! However, this location is notorious for selling expired merchandise!!!!!! I can't tell you how many times I've bought something, only to find out it's a month or two out of date when I get home. Food, medicine ect ... Today I purchased a $14, bottle of DG brand Flonase, only to get home & see its Best By date was 04/22, (It's may 21st 2022) They must be understaffed if they can't find the time to remove expired merchandise from their shelves. Do better DG! Hire more staff to help these people out. Corporate GREED at its finest!

They are extremely nice and very helpful. I have always Found what I needed and if it is not on the shelf they always look out back for me. I GO THERE FOR ALL MY SHOPPING AS IT IS VERY ORGANIZED AND THE PRICES ARE THE SAME AS THE BIG STORES OR SOMETHINGS ARE CHEAPER!!!!!

Really like the store. Always find something I need or want. I returned there a couple of days ago , when my husband. and I got to the checkout there was one lady ahead of us. She said she'd been there for 10min, we all waited another ten to fifteen mins more, called out hello, you have customers here, twice I said that out loud, a few minutes later we realized the girl that was finally going to check us out was going through kid clothes and saw us all waiting there. Any customer could have walked out of that store , maybe taking stuff with them, hire more help!

The store was disorganized, and cluttered. (although I have been to the same location in the past and it was well organized and clean) It is possible they just received a delivery at this time. Although the staff was friendly and helpful, all of the stores customer price checking/scanners were offline.

They would really have to try hard to not get a good score. They keep adding new stuff it would just be nice if they had the stuff behind the counter like in a spot where you could look at it. And by look at it I mean without having the cashier staring at you like you're doing something wrong. But hey , that's the way of the world today.

Edited: the crew on tonight was WAYYY better than the closing crew last time!!! Restored my love for this store!The bigger of the two DG in the area! Has everything you may need for a quick pick up from snacks to crafting items to everything in between. My fav though is always the clearance section! I always find great seasonal leftovers to either use as is, or remake into something else 😉

I have been having an issue here for the past couple of months so I'm editing my review. The first time it happened I figured it was a mistake. Everyone makes them, and I was told the product I had the issue with was from a vendor so it wasn't the store's fault. It's now happened 4 times and the last time was very upsetting as it pertains to my dog's health. The first time it happened with a Starbucks Vanilla Latte. I drink these constantly. When I got home I went to open it and realized it looked off. I opened it, smelt it and sure enough it smelt bad. I looked at the date and it was expired! When I went back the next day, I was told it was the vendor who didn't take it off the shelf and it wasn't the employees' fault. But here's the thing. This was June 2018. It expired in February 2018. That's a long time. I went back to the shelves and every single Starbucks Vanilla Latte was months expired. Okay whatever, it's a good store with good employees so I let it slide. They gave me a free Monster Coffee and I was happy. It happened two more times over a few weeks. A bag of chips and then cereal. I stopped going for a while but one day needed dog food, I live right down the street from this store so I decided to just save time and go there. My dog hadn't really been eating his food and was losing a bit of weight, I was concerned. I got his big bag of dry dog food, went to the register and held up the bag to be scanned. Near the barcode was the expiration date and it too was MONTHS expired. Almost a year! The employee didn't seem surprised which really surprised me. She went to the back and found me a new bag that had the promotion all dog foods do once in a while, the 1lb of extra food for the same price. I got home and looked my dog's current food bag that I had also bought there a few weeks back. It was expired!! Again almost by a year, 10 months. I had been feeding him stale dog food that he obviously didn't like because he wasn't eating it and was losing weight. I was very upset. I gave him the new food IMMEDIATELY. His bowl was empty within a matter of minutes. Please check the dates on merchandise you buy from there. Now 711 on Phillips Rd is very bad about this too but that's intentional, more than half the items in that store, including medicine are expired. But Dollar General really surprised me. I hope they get their act together because it used to be one of my favorite stores!

Prices are great! Phone services is bad, 2 hours trying to get someone on the phone. Calling every 15 minutes as my job is to review services in the area. This Dollar General is not up to par. I do appologize to other customers for this. The problem will be sent to headquarters and fixed. Sorry to the customers.

One of my favorite places to get quick stuff I need. The store is nice and never had any problems. The bathroom is available to use and pretty clean. Parking lot is spacious.

I'm giving this 3 stars because the one I frequently go to on church st new Bedford 3/4 of the staff is rude and or unfriendly. I am in there almost daily because of the prices and inventory is good. The district manager needs to go give them a crash course on customer service.

First time at this location & my last. Employees are very rude. They are condescending & if you ask them where an item is they huff & puff like your interrupting them. If you don't want to be in a customer service position then find yourself another job. No one should be talked to like that, I don't care what kind of day they're having.

It had more choices than other Dollar Trees. Due to demographics. Depending on location each store varies in the variety of items they sell. This particular store had a large variety of items I never seen in other Dollar Trees.

Dollar General has been my #1 Store since they Opened!!! I shop at Church Street, Kings Highway & Dartmouth Street Locations!!! I've also shopped at the Wareham Dollar General, Wyoming, Rhode Island Dollar General & Main Road, Tiverton, Rhode Island.... ALL The staff at Church Street New Bedford Dollar General are FANTASTIC especially Randy, Tabby & Jake they go Above & Beyond with whatever you need!!!
