Love the general store ambience, glad the Store is here. The dining area (breakfast, lunch, good soups, good coffee) overlooks a river, and there's an outdoor porch where you can not only see but hear it. Also good baked goods, more brands of high-end potato chips than you have ever seen, NY Times, fancy soft drinks. The prices are always a bit surprisingly high, but maybe that's necessary to keep the store in business, which I am glad it is.

I live much of the year in Monterey and frequent the store a few times a month. Had a few questions today and ended up in an enlightening conversation with Scott, the Chef/owner. He gave me a new perspective on the challenges of operating a high quality year round general store and eating place in a community with Monterey's unique and wonderful demographic. I can be a feisty and tough critic; however, Scott addressed my issues and questions with professionalism and charm. He definitely won me over to become at least a weekly customer.

Pulled right out of Cambridge or Brooklyn, with delicious baked goods and sandwiches, trendy prepared food items and home goods, with a cute little cafe seating area. Love this place.
