From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we knew we were in for a treat. The warm welcome from owner Craig set the tone for an unforgettable evening. The chef's culinary creations were nothing short of extraordinary, each dish a masterpiece in its own right. What truly set this experience apart was Craig's personal touch - taking the time to show us the set-up for their homemade maple syrup right in their own backyard was a delightful surprise. It's rare to find such dedication to quality and hospitality. Our morning at this restaurant was truly a highlight, and we can't wait to return for another exceptional dining experience.

What a magical breakfast my husband and I had! We arrived and were the only ones there. A gentleman asked us to wait a minute to check if they were serving and luckily they were. We were seated at a bright and sunny window table, decorated with fresh flowers and old books. Very hygge! I had a very cute macchiato and the open faced croissant sandwich with Gruyère and local eggs. It came with fried potatoes and a fresh green salad. Delicious and enough for me to take a to-go box for later. My husband had the French toast with berries and a shot glass of maple syrup. He ate every bite and we were then told that 2nd helpings are free! How sweet. My hubby was full but I’ve never heard that offer before at any other restaurant I’ve been to.A group of people from a visual merchandising class came through and the staff were very accommodating to move things around that were hard to see for them. In an amazing surprise one of the gentlemen from the class asked if he could try the baby grand piano. I thought he’d play around a little but we were treated to a true musician! We got breakfast, with a show for free. They also have a lovely side garden that is very eclectic. I can’t wait to return.(Wouldn’t recommend to bring young kids. There’s lots of breakables as it doubles as an antique store and it’s a quiet and calm ambiance.)

This place is such a GEM! I absolutely love the theme and it is so enjoyable to eat and look around at all the vintage treasures (and sort of shop with your eyes!). It feels really like you are in a tea room with all the antiques, but then you can also purchase some treasures on your way out (very reasonably priced! They don't have tags, so you can ask). I couldn't help getting up from my seat and making a small pile of goodies to take home before I even finished eating. The pieces in here are curated really well. (I got a great vintage mug with a cardinal motif, a blue glass vase, a beautiful blue plate, and even a real birds nest with faux robins eggs). The food was amazing, I went with 3 friends and we all were over the moon about our food. I sampled the lemon & sugar crepe and a spinach & goat cheese crepe- both delicious. I absolutely cannot believe how well they executed this idea is of having a vintage shop & restaurant, which is hard to do well. They have done it so well! The owners are THE sweetest humans. They even showed us the back patio area that opens once the warm weather hits. A must visit spot- we will be back!

Wonderful hidden gem to have breakfast or brunch. While the restaurant is out of the way, it is close to Great Barrington and Lennox. The pastries are delicious. They start you off with complimentary freshly baked croissants and banana bread. The means are all inspired by local and seasonal ingredients. I had the local peach pancakes which were out of this world. It was served with a local fruit compote and Massachusetts maple syrup. My dining companion had a local mushroom omelette which came with great potatos. They ended the meal with a lemon curd crepe. Great service and a unique atmosphere. I believe they are cash only. This is a great slice of Massachusetts and is a not to be missed place.Vegetarian options: Lots of veggie options!Parking: Parking out front and around the square but watch for no parking signs.Kid-friendliness: Great for the whole family.

Great place. Antiques and restaurant cheek to cheek which makes for a great atmosphere. Besides the atmosphere, the food is really good. They use local grown ingredients. The small side salad that comes with the dishes is delicious. Crepes are perfect. When the season starts, make sure to have a reservation though walk-ins are welcome as well. There is some outdoor seating in the back.

This was a lovely and wonderful spot; my friend and I went to the Norman Rockwell Museum, and I discovered it when looking for restaurants nearby. They were full and asked if we had reservations, which we didn't, but they still accommodated my friend and me. The cuisine was excellent; I had french toast and my buddy had a crepe and baked potatoes; all were excellent, with extremely fresh fruits on the side and raspberry puree. On the way out, the owner mentioned that they had a garden in the back and that we should go check it out. We did, and he offered to snap a picture of the two of us, which we thought was the sweetest thing. You can sense that the staff cares about their food and the environment, and I would definitely return if I were in the area.

My third time at Pleasant and Main was as good as one and two. Just love the unique decor and atmosphere. But the food is really delicious. We have only been for breakfast/lunch.Dinner is in the planning. Go! You will be happy and full.

Everything about this spot was absolutely wonderful! I’m so glad my friends and I made the trip here for brunch. The vibe was cozy, quirky, & welcoming; the food was absolutely incredible; and the people were SO kind and lovely! You can truly tell that the owners go above and beyond to make sure everyone is happy.I had a maple hot chocolate latte and the salmon eggs benedict - both were amazing. We were also served fresh OJ and pastries before our entrees came, as well as crepes for dessert. Everything is fresh and you can tell the incredible amount of effort and love that goes into every dish. I’m not exaggerating when I say I might never stop thinking about my meal today. The outdoor area wasn’t open for dining yet (it’s a bit early in the season), but the owners were kind enough to let us go back to hang out and feed their chipmunk friend ☺️ so fun and endearing!I wish I lived closer so I could come back more often. Truly can’t wait for my next trip back!

Not only was the atmosphere in the cafe a unique work of art, but Marion and Craig were more than we could ask for to make our experience truly welcoming. This is for sure the first place we’ll visit next time in MA. After a day of unexpected flight delays and accidental exploring, this was the absolute highlight of the day- they made sure we were taken care of and felt like family! 100% must go to this place, take your time, make conversation, savor the incredible flavors and people. All around gorgeous experience.

We absolutely loved it. So quaint and the server was marvelous. The owner/chef gave us a tour of the outside kitchen and the food he prepared was awesome. I ordered French toast with bacon. It came with eggs, fruit and a generous portion of bacon as well as sausage. The decor is so unique. Would highly recommend.

Absolutely delicious and an unforgettable dining experience. Craig was incredibly kind and generous and the food was *stellar*. Maybe the best pot pie I've ever had? We're still thinking about that crepe at dessert too! Highly recommend.

What an amazing spot for lunch. The food is just simply delicious (and a few notches above your average comfort food). You will quickly realize how much effort & love go into the food with your first bite.Their wild mushroom soup was hearty and tasty. For lunch, we ordered a chicken pot pie entree, along with a meatloaf lunch special. The accompanying salads were just as wonderful as the main course, well balanced and perfectly flavored. We finished our visit with their crepes, topped with a fresh berry reduction and a side of homemade lemon curd- we couldn’t stop saying wow.For an unpretentious yet wonderful lunch experience, this is your spot. We’ll be back again soon!(And my husband loved browsing the antiques that filled the space!)

This place should get 10 stars!!!!! The owner Craig set up an outdoor dinning area for me and my girlfriend. When we arrived at our table Craig had set up a nice fire, (the morning temp was 60 degrees) but the food was the real highlight!!!! As a courtesy Craig gifted us fresh blueberry muffins with handpicked blueberry/strawberry jam (it was fantastic) I ordered the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and it was by far the best version of this dish I’ve ever had. My girlfriend got a savory crepe which was unbelievably good.If you don’t give this place a try then you are missing out on a truly exceptional experience. I will tell all my friends and family about it because it was that good!!!! Can’t wait to go back again and again and again!!!!Thank you Craig. Sincerely!!!

This is one of the best restaurants we've ever eaten at (and in a rare moment of multi-generational agreement, everybody from the kids to the adults in our party agreed on that point). Yes it's a little bit off the beaten path, but if you want to enjoy an incredible meal at a ridiculously good price, it's worth the trip to the small village of Housatonic, a few minutes north of Great Barrington. The food was prepared fresh, with many locally sourced, and organic ingredients. This was very evident in each of the various meals we ordered. Portion size was large, and the presentation was also very good (you are served on various china from the owner's collection). Service was fast and friendly. Pricing was inexpensive, and a ridiculously good bargain when you factor in the quality of the meals. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, and there is an interesting assortment of decor both inside and out. you'll probably want to spend a few minutes walking around checking things out after you order. There is plenty of parking in the area, and a decent amount of both indoor and outdoor seating. We feel this is the best restaurant in the Berkshires, and one of the best anywhere in the country.^^Update approx 2 yrs after above review ^^ ... ....We have the good fortune to spend a lot of time in the Berkshires, and we eat here several times a year, and it never disappoints. Every meal here feels like it's been made for a special occasion. Not sure how everything can consistently be so good, but we're not complaining and are looking forward to our next meal here.

Truly a spectacular place. The atmosphere is absolutely splendid and instantly makes you comfortable when you walk in. The staff are wonderfully courteous and helpful, and the food... Agh, so good! I will be back many many times, as often as I can afford and given their prices, that shouldn't be too hard. I hope this place stays open for many many more years to come

This was great for brunch! Very unique and cute decorating. Great service and delicious food. The owners went above and beyond to make us comfortable and happy. We ate at the outdoor seating. They have a pet chipmunk they feed peanuts which was cute. We had reserved ahead of time even though Wednesday isn’t their busy day and they had a table all set for us.

Imagine entering a time machine and going back to the 1920’s to rural New England. Spirits would be running high with no hint of a great depression in sight. Americans would be feeling united after WWI and not indulging in divisive liberals versus conservative rhetoric. The dining experience would probably include strolling (not driving) to the local inn where the owner’s smile and the chatter of diner would greet you when you walked in. The food would be simple but made using the freshest of ingredients sourced locally, eggs and vegetables straight from the farm and warm baked bread. The owner would have his heart in his business, taking the time to get to know the guests, doing the rounds making chit chat about the weather, politics and local gossip. One would eat and chat to one’s heart’s content and leave feeling nourished and mentally rejuvenated. The furniture would be handmade and handpicked by the owner; antique by today’s standards... I could go on. Entering Pleasant And Main is like having a surge of authenticity injected into the bloodstream. It’s an antique store (all items are for sale) that happens to serve wonderful food. To us it was an authentic shot in the arm and much needed antidote to a life predominated by smartphones, e-commerce and social media a sad surrogate for human connection. We have dined here for breakfast and dinner each time choosing a unique table and seeing a different corner stacked with a paraphernalia of antique knick knacks and books. The restaurant serve a mean stack of pancakes and French crepes, and delicious omelettes accompanied with fresh ground bean based coffee. Dinner includes a choice of three terrific mains, trout or perch from the lakes in the area, quality meat and much much more.

This was a great find. The food was truly delicious. The atmosphere was quirky and eclectic - something interesting to appreciate in every direction. Got a nice tour with the proprietor of the new courtyard. Looking forward to another visit when out hiking in the area.

Pleasantly surprised how great this place was. The owners were lovely to talk to. Try the hot chocolate and the Cappuccino with some fresh cookies. The backyard is Instagram worthy!

What a interesting find. We just happened to be out walking around this very small community and restaurant was open. Step back in time lots of old stuff we had French toast and pancakes and they were both wonderful. It’s a must to visit

People don't always remember what you say, but they always remember how you feel. I may not remember how good the food was, but I have rarely felt so genuinely welcomed as I did when I visited Pleasant. The cafe is a charming gem with all the character of an 1800's general store, but what stands out is the atmosphere and hospitality that Craig, the owner has curated. Stop by if you are anywhere near the area!

Had a fantastic crepe breakfast here with friends! Everything was perfect and after breakfast we restocked our libraries as there’s an impression collection of books and antiques. Craig is really kind and made us feel like home! Will definitely be coming back next time we’re in the area.

Unfortunately the reviews and food pictures are deceiving. We both got burger platters (it was 2pm) that included old burger meat, looked chewed up and spit out, and tasted like years of grill build up. Served plain on soggy white toast. The smell of the Chuck was nauseating. Our servers were friendly high schoolers who always came out of the kitchen chewing something, barely swallowing before taking our order. Our waiter couldn’t recite any specials / menu items of the day. The waitstaff really needs proper training. Perhaps we should have gotten breakfast food, but if the burger is really that bad, take it off the menu.We wish we could give a better review to a small business, but best to honestly review our experience in hope for improvement. No gesture was made to comp at least one burger despite politely giving feedback and not eating most of the plates. Next time we will steer clear and head to Lenox for food and service.

Such a fantastic cafe this is. Truly unlike any other place I've been too before and that can be attributed to the one of a kind atmosphere. Each table and place to sit is different, so even something as mundane as choosing where to sit is a unique experience/choice. Food was top notch as well, I had a sweet gluten free crepe with chocolate and warm fruit compote which was the best crepe I've had before. More than recommend finding the time to visit here.

The food (eggs Benedict) was great. But they were clearly overwhelmed, my coffee, even though I asked many times, and they said it would be right there, was never actually brought to my table. Water glass was brought with the check, go figure.Repeat visits have been similar. Great food, but service was poor.

We had an Incredible experience at Pleasant and Main! I made a reservation ahead of time and they kindly setup a nice table for us in the garden outside on our own little porch. The service was very fast, and the whole staff is so friendly. The food was fantastic! All fresh and delicious. I wish I could’ve ordered even more on the menu. The inside and outside garden is full of antiques and cool artifacts. This really is a one of a kind cafe/restaurant, and I can’t wait to come back. This is a must stop in the area.
