I mistakenly purchased the wrong peanut butter. I have a kidney issue and when I got home I realized I had purchased the type with salt in it. The jars look very similar. I took it back to the customer service counter and the woman said I could leave it at the counter and retrieve the type I wanted and exchange it. I went back to the aisle and like a stealth fighter, the store manager, whom we never see on the floor, appeared and accused me of getting it from another store. The manager thought he had caught a thief and was telling me a lie to try and confuse me. He told me that based on the code printed on the top of the jar, that it came from another store. I emailed a representative from Stop and Shop and she told me that this wasn't true, that by reading the code on the top of the jar, you cannot tell which store it is from. It is unclear why the store manager said this. Before I left I took pictures of the tops and emailed them to the representative to show her the jars. In the end I received store credit because replacements were not available. I felt the store manager went off half cocked and I felt violated and threatened. I bent over to read his name tag and he told me that wasn't necessary because his name would be on a piece of paper I would receive when I left the store. It was not. I filled out something with my number and name, the store manager said he couldn't read it so I provided the details for him. It is true that I had lost the receipt in my truck, but Stop and Shop allows exchanges anyway. As a note, Stop and Shop is owned by Ahold, a company in the Netherlands, and Big Y is U.S. owned. That is the story of my experience.

We bought an inexpensive (less than $10) product at Stop and Shop and we were not satisfied with it. It was either defective or low quality. We took it back to the store. We didn't have a receipt but the product still had a Stop and Shop sticker on it. The customer rep proceeded to return it as usual. Her manager Crystal was standing next to her and stopped the return process. She said it is open and cannot be returned. The customer reps never had an issue with such returns in the past. How would a customer know if a product is satisfactory without opening it? Moreover, this happened on Christmas Eve. She didn't care that we were a regular at Stop and Shop and spent thousands of dollars there. The service quality at Stop and Shop has been in decline in the past years. It looks like Customer Satisfaction is no longer a priority for a manager at Stop and Shop. This was a disappointing experience.

Please don’t respond to this if you’re not going to read the entire review. I’m not interested in pandering. Your store smells like trash. I went there yesterday to make a purchase for an event down the st and it was all I could do to force myself to stay. In fact I only came here because your store had the only available product I needed. The smell is likely because you’ve been understaffing your store NOT because of employee negligence. The staff in this store are few but great! They’re always very kind, very attentive, and helpful. It looks like management is expecting a few employees to do the work of a well staffed store and the building/ employees are suffering because of that. Take a look around- understaffed stores are NOT well visited. Places like whole foods that are by and large more expensive to buy from but are staffed to the nines are wiping the floor with you. Shoppers WANT to see staff. We WANT to know the stores well cared for. We DO notice when things aren’t going well and sure- maybe the management here is making their bonuses…your stores suffering because of it. I’m not going to be shopping here for now. I thought it was bad when there wasn’t any toilet paper in any of the stalls last year- boy was I wrong.

Stop and shop has pretty good deals weekly and even better when you have the app that way you can use digital coupons on stuff that if you did not have the app you would not receive. Their produce (to me) is way better than other stores I've noticed especially with strawberries when I get them else where they start to smell up my fridge within a day of putting them in, it isn't a rotten smell it's just weird and unpleasant. I'm glad they are finally done with the remodel it looks great. The bakery is great as well. The staff is pretty bad here they're very rude and just act like they don't wanna be there, minus the cart collectors they're nice. Their self checkouts still suck and are SUPER touchy so BE PATIENT with each other I know it's frustrating (trust me) but it's not our fault it's the self check outs they have something set wrong on it. Also don't forget your reusable bags!

We do our regular shopping here as well as drop in several times a week. Their produce is very good. I find their website is much easier to use than Big Y. Meat selection is much smaller than before and not even sure if there are meat cutters here anymore, but still prefer over Big Y.

Worst bagging ever! This is twice now all my stuff just thrown into a bag. I asked the person bagging if all the stuff thrown on top of my yogurt containers will damage the foil top, and he shrugged, and said he didn't think so. Pictures on how my groceries were bagged. Oh, and I had two cold bags, and one of them just had my 1/2 gallon of milk in it. The other had a mix of cold an not cold. 😠🤬

i feel like they can do better it looks like the place hasn't been remodeled since the 70s meanwhile Big Y down the street looks like it's high tech and bougieUPDATE: Stop & Shop is stepping up it's game, so much has improved including their prices, definitely get the Stop & Shop app very impressive, nice clean store I enjoy spending my income here <3

Meat selection around 9-10 am is very limited on the weekend. Butcher interactions are non-existant. Usually only 1 register open. Deli can be slow. Sale items are often out of stock.7/30/22 still haven't got it together. Store is dirty, not well stocked.

I’ve always gotten a bad vibe from this store as soon as I walk in. It smells off and the floors look like they’ve been mopped, but the mop water has never been changed. Item placement throughout the store doesn’t feel well thought out. These are things I can put up with if there’s savings to be had, but prices here have gotten just as bad as Big Y.The real icing on the cake is the checkout situation. They’re taking in all this extra cash from these crazy prices, and they’re still too cheap to put more than a single cashier on the schedule. This forces customers to use self checkout. Now typically I don’t mind self checkout, I was a cashier for years during high school and college - it’s like riding a bike, comes right back to you. Not to mention the little discounts you get to give yourself for doing half the store’s job for free (if you actually pay for organic tomatoes or anything but the cheapest apples at self checkout, you’re throwing money away). My issue with the self checkout here is just how sensitive the scales are. 7 times, the slack-jawed ogre of an assistant manager had to come over to reset the machine, breaking up the monotony of his 1000-yard stare. He seemed quite upset to actually have to do his job, and I don’t blame him for that - he didn’t have to take it out on us though.At the end of the day, nothing of value would be lost if this store simply ceased to exist tomorrow morning. This isn’t some sad review where someone’s favorite grocer provided a bad experience that turned them away forever. This is simply a store I already held in the lowest regard, cementing itself firmly in last place.

My impression of the store was positive thanks to Kate in Customer Service. She answered the phone, is very polite, competent and professional. The store has a health food section with my favorite coffee (Kicking Horse out of Montreal) and Boar’s Head cold cuts.

This stop and shop sometimes has issues with supply and shelves can be bare in some spots. The store is generally clean and produce is fresh. Meat prices are better than some other competition depending on what your looking for. They have decent sales. They morning clerks are very pleasant.

Marion the Cashier gave me a warm and friendly greeting! Lots of great Christmas items displayed. I was able to find everything I needed for Christmas stocking stuffers! I'll be going back to buy my Poinsettia plant soon!

This store is an absolute joke. Its full of employees who don't take their job seriously and work with zero sense of urgency. There should be more than one single register open during the day, its absolute ridiculous how long you wind up spending standing in line only to get to the register to have your groceries bagged poorly and improperly

Clean,well stocked shelves, wide variety of food, organics, too. You can find gifts from child to adults. Very good staff. Good value.Unfortunately since all that's going on in the country the shelves aren't as well stocked as they once were.Since I wrote this a few months ago there is more stock on the shelves but, as is everywhere, expect to pay more at the register.

Understaffed. But what place isn't these days.Easily handicapped accessible. They even have electric scooters for riding around in the store. The staff that they do have seems to be knowledgeable and has an idea of where items are in the store if you have a question.Great selection of items. Many international foods.If you want one mandarin orange or Clementine you're out of luck. Almost everything in the produce section is packed in bulk.

This place is an embarrassment. As if they weren’t already overpriced and full of unwashed and unprofessional employees, they go ahead and change their hours out of nowhere. Many people rely on their “until midnight” hours, as it is always packed when I go in there late. I’ve worked for this company before, so I’m confident in saying they’ve changed the hours because they are an extremely cheap and awful corporation. They should be ashamed of themselves and I will now be shopping at Big Y, a consistently better store. Change your hours back and pay your employees, because you are not understaffed.

Typical S&S but this store definitely cleaner than most. Aisles nice and clear and display caps were neat and filled with stock. Quite busy in the store but plenty of cashiers on duty ringing everyone out.Meat and fish departments were well stocked as well. Nice store!

Nice size parking lot with a helpful staff. Tons of selection and everyone working seemed friendly and hard at work. Prices are competive and shelves are neatly stocked. Glad it's open so late, glad to get fresh groceries as late as 1145 pm. It's really a worthwhile "stop" for a good "shop".

Very clean store! Went early morning and all the staff were exceptionally friendly. I am not a fan of stop n shop but I do go when I need to grab something quick. Prices can be expensive so look for sales.

I've never had a problem with this store, but now I am finally compelled to write a great review. The store manager (or one of them I'm not sure) Dylan, helped me out on a coconut oil issue that was completely an accident but still my fault. He was very nice and understanding, and helped me out with the whole situation. I really appreciated it, and will continue to shop here even more now. Thank you so very much, Dylan!!

Love this store I can get everything I need And save money. Love the produce and meats. Use the Pharmacy as well for my scripts saves me a lot of unnecessary running around to many stores. Love the roasted to go chicken great bargain and way to keep our family from eating unhealthy fast food when you are in a hurry to eat

It seems like they don't have a plan for the COVID situation-- no hand sanitizers at the entrance, no (enough) stickers for 6 feet rule, no limitation on the amount of ppl in store.Today my husband and I was standing in the line for checkout and someone's trying to get through behind me. Okay, we stepped forward a little. And the man in front of me just started saying we're too standing close to him. He looked very angry. I roughly looked at the distance between me and him. That's definitely 6 feet. (And later the manager said that was 6-feet.) He kept staring at me unfriendly even if it's already his turn. I said- it's 6 feet now, stop staring at me. And he asked me to shut up The best part is that the cashier helped him and said if I had any problem I can go.Very nice job Stop & Shop! I've been shopping here for two years, and now I'm going away!bye!

okayish. nice prices. bad organization. too big. too much stuff that it's not groceries like toys. the biggest problem is they can't hire help to stock! by the afternoon and evening the shelves are picked over and you can't find what you want. they cannot get employees!
