I want to send a heartfelt thank you to all the amazing staff at PVVH. We recently lost our best boy Patches to a brief and unexpected illness. Dr. Underwood went above and beyond to help us navigate what the next best steps would be for our baby. She spent extra time with him, which means so much. Kristina was so compassionate and let us sneak "out back" to see him- and even told him that she loved him. As we grieve Patches loss, we have found comfort in the acts of kindness showed to us and him in his final days. The card we recently received has brought us some joy. Knowing how many people Patches touced! He was the very best boy, and is missed beyond measure.

Recently visited PVVH with my new hedgehog. Dr Underwood and the 2 technicians were very kind, listened to my concerns and answered my questions. I found the clinic and office very clean, staff very cheerful and friendly. I will continue to come here for my pet health.

Our dog has gotten much better care since switching there a couple years ago. We recently switched our 2 older cats as well this year and one had an issue resolved that she had had for years with a minor procedure that the other place said she couldn’t have done to her because of age and the other one had been losing weight, and with medication is now chubby and happy again.Everyone is always very nice and friendly there and would definitely recommend and actually have to other people. They also accept the CreditCare card which is helpful.

I can't recommend Pioneer Valley Vet enough! My dogs have been cared for here 2+ years, and they always take exceptional care of them. I never have felt pressured into any treatments/vaccines and feel the prices were reasonable and affordable. The staff are all very knowledgeable, and I could always get an appointment in a quick timeframe when my sweet pups needed one. If you are looking for a vet in Greenfield area or in the surrounding area, look no further! I love that they call and check in on my dogs after any vaccines or treatments, and I can tell that they really care about my dogs. Thank you Pioneer Valley for all you do!

My dog is always well taken care of here. We sign him up for some extras, like a shampoo and nail trim, so he comes home smelling fresh and looking dapper. He is always excited to see everyone at the kennel at drop off, and he's always a happy camper while there.

Absolutely the best care given to our loved pets! Dr Underwood is unparalleled in her treatment/s. We've received calls at 9pm, follow up calls after assessments and being a nurse, that shows me her commitment to her patients and their families. She's willing to think outside the box for solutions and that is impressive. Putting down my first pet was gut wrenching but Dr. Underwood and Vet Tech Lexi were so comforting. Dr. Underwood explained every step before she administered any meds. Lexi helped me decide on an urn during this most painful time. Having the right people and experience while saying goodbye to part of our family was imperative. The other Vet Techs and office staff I was going to name but I may forget someone so let it be known that we have had wonderful experiences. Cards have been sent to us. Calls made asking how are pets are doing. Some have listened to my crying and others listened to my concerns being a first time pet owner. Like a new mom! They were all great! We trust this team. We won't use another veterinary hospital. Thank you Dr. Underwood and Team!

I had been bringing my dog here for a few years. In the beginning, I sent her to the daycare, but I started asking questions about her day because she would act like she had been shut up all day when I picked her up. She was a pretty wild puppy so I was curious if she was having any behavioral issues, and never got any info one way or the other. The only answers were ever "She had a great day!", so I assumed no news. I switched dog daycares because of the pick up/drop off hours, and then realized that she truly must have been shut in a crate the whole day at PVVH because she was completely zonked after the first day at her new camp.I continued to take her to PVVH for vet visits as I hadn't had any issues in the past, though I am not sure what the dynamic was with her and the vets during the pandemic years when she had to go in without me. I never heard any news about extreme stress or nervousness or aggression, and this is an extremely friendly and well socialized dog. She is a husky/great pyrenees mix who CAN be off the leash, and who can take a glove off the hand of a child with her teeth without so much as pinching a finger. I do not have children, this is any child out there. All that is relevant because on the first appointment I was allowed back inside with her with a mask, we were rushed into the (wildly tiny) exam room. My dog was definitely not happy, she was nervous, but she is a cautious girl. Immediately upon entering the room, Dr. Underwood said "Yep, we're gonna have to muzzle this one" to her tech - not to me, didn't acknowledge me until I objected. She pointed out that my dog seemed nervous and that her pupils were filling her eyes. Her pupils were not filling her eyes, she has very dark brown irises and they hadn't actually turned the light on in the exam room (dark = large pupils, yours do that too if you have typical eyes, or even just one eye). I explained about my dog's personality and Dr. Underwood said "Well, she's never been 2 years old before" and I said, "She has, because she is 3 years old". Still, this woman decided that I was being some kind of over sensitive stage mom and forced a muzzle on my deeply sensitive and gentle friend, after me requesting that she not do that. I wish I had taken my dog and walked out then and there. Maybe she grabbed the wrong chart? Maybe she has never met a sweet dog before...? I have worked in animal shelters and do know that there is a risk involved in caring for animals you don't know, but this was not that situation.I understand that if a person is feeling like there could be a chance for being bitten, they should do their best to protect them. I was not even given enough time to NOT consent and leave. I felt so strongly disrespected in this instance that I made some calls to other local vets to ask their muzzling policy. The few I called said that they always use one as a last resort. I made an appointment with another vet so that I could bring her in and get an honest opinion about whether my dog had some problematic behaviors I had never been informed of, or to see if the fear reaction Dr. Underwood muzzled her over would actually warrant the muzzle. I warned them that her previous vet HAD used a muzzle, and said that if they did not feel comfortable, I would consent to it as I valued their time & safety. They said that they would not ever put on a muzzle without first trying other options to calm a dog, and use it only as a last resort. I brought her in and reminded the vet tech of this, and it went well. No muzzle. When the vet came in, she did a little exam and was totally shocked when I asked her the questions I had about whether I should prepare my dog for vet visits/expect muzzling. She couldn't believe Dr. Underwood had done this. We've stuck with this vet for the year since, and there have been no issues. Compliments and love every time we walk through the door.I highly recommend anyone still putting up with this kind of treatment at PVVH switch - you do not have to settle for being disrespected, talked over, or dismissed.

Unfortunately we had to put our 16 year kitty cat down due to advanced kidney disease. Dr. Underwood and her staff are very compassionate, caring, sincere and respectful people. The process is painful but Dr. Underwood made it comfortable for us to proceed. For top notch care Pioneer Valley Veterinary is the best. I highly recommend them for the best animal care.

Super friendly and knowledgeable staff! Despite always being super busy, the staff returns my calls promptly and checks in on my pat days after an appointment, to make sure they're feeling better. Dr. Underwood is lovely, and explains everything very thoroughly- I appreciate that as a concerned pet parent

I love how clear it is that Dr. Underwood loves her job. My cat presented with a mystery ailment, and she conveyed an appropriate balance of concern and keen interest in solving the puzzle. She and all of the staff I've interacted with have doted on my disgruntled black cat and never made the appointment feel rushed. I imagine the lack of rush contributes to wait times at the front end of the appointment, but that is my only complaint that I've ever had, and it is well worth it.

I have been taking my cats and dogs here for almost 10 years now. They have always been so caring with everyone I bring in and very knowledgeable. My animals have had a myriad of issues through the years and I have always found the help they need here. I think it's probably why my cats have made it to 17, my puppy is now 10 years old and everyone is doing fantastic. They even manage to put up with our 1 year old cat. I have a pretty unforgiving work schedule, but getting my animals in to see a vet is easier then my own doctor appointments.

This office is competent and kind, caring and professional. I have been bringing my dog here for 4 years, since I got her as a new pup. They were recommended to me by other friends. They have been available through the routine visits and the problems. They handled the COVID crisis very responsibly, and have an amazingly consistent staff during this difficult time. I have also boarded my dog here on a few occasions and was pleased with the care and communication during those times. I highly recommend this practice.

At one point, I was happy with this vet, but based on recent experiences (the past 18 months or so), I would never recommend anyone choose this vet. About 1.5 years ago, my dog started reacting to allergies, and had a pretty nasty ear infection. We got her on proper allergy control, and thought we got the ear infection under control, but it would spring back up like clockwork every month or two. I kept bringing her back, insisting that something just doesn't seem right, why won't this go away, but they just kept prescribing Otomax, and the inflammation would subside slightly, but it would still pop back up, raging just a month later. We recently moved to a new area, and with it, needed a new vet. Our new vet heard our symptoms, took a culture of the ear, and promptly diagnosed psuedomonas, a common antibiotic resistant ear infection. We are currently on a 30 day flush, and with it, my dog is already feeling better. The number of times I was completely brushed off by PVVH, and re-prescribed otomax is nothing short of ridiculous. I assume at some point, they got tired of me calling about her ears, but before this whole escapade, she was an incredibly healthy dog. My biggest regret is that after 6 months of this back and forth that I didn't leave. The one nice thing that I can say is that most of the vet techs can be quite kind, most especially Caitlin, who was always so reassuring, and felt as though she truly cared about my pup's health.

Board your pup elsewhere. They have odd policies and there are cheaper options with far better vibes for a good doggy stay. Not transparent, ignored items that we provided, and then sought out add-on charges like nobody’s business.

there is never a surprise in care for our pets. Hannah was seen for a mass on her leg. Dr Underwood looked at it and is always real honest, if she hasn't seen something in her many years of being a vet she will tell you. She will tell you what she think it is and what she believes should be done and how soon it should be done. the staff is always friendly and very helpful. My pets are treated better than when my kids have gone into some hospitals. This is a great group of people.

We've brought them many cats over many years. Dr Underwood and now Dr Pelletier are smart docs who always give you all the time you need. But a special plus is how well-informed and gracious are the technicians and support staff.

The staff here are extremely kind, helpful, and communicative. I truly appreciate the time and care they provide for my pets no matter how busy they are, and I couldn't ask for anything better. I have exotic pets and was struggling to find a place who would see them. They are clearly knowledgeable and care about all pets big and small!! :)

This place is very hard to get appointments. They take great care of our pets. If you have any issues you have a two to three month wait for your appointment. They will tell you the have a daily lottery. But after trying for three or four weeks daily, you will give up regardless of how many years of being a customer. Keep in mind all vets in the area lack staffing as there are not enough in the area. Prior post by staff talks about suicide in the vet industry. Please do not think something happened at this vet. We took it the wrong way too. Every company is having major staffing issues and stress. You will be happy with this vet overall. Just really busy.

Staff always take great care of our dog- he is a somewhat difficult dog to bring to the vet and they always accommodate his nervous energy and try their best to make him comfortable. Thank you!
