Always super friendly staff. Just lacks selection, and prices are high.

Definitely love that they get their produce locally, they have some great employee's always kind and helpful. I didn't give it five stars because the meat department could use some work the meat is never fully stocked and if you get there an hour or so before closing forget about the meat selection, and the deli when I first started going there the staff was very rude would plain ignore me then they started closing early now it's a hit or miss if you can even get anything. I had to revisit this review because for the past couple months the deli at Foster's is now fully staffed and have great, kind, and people oriented employees

I have a few problems lately with Fosters. When is that if I show up 5 minutes before they close to grab say a box of litter like I did recently and they're already closed and locked up that's a little annoying when they're only open till 7:00 p.m. is it that hard to actually just stay open till 7:00? Especially when people that work want to make it there? Another thing is that almost all the employees that work there are nice but the ladies that work at the counter ringing people out almost all except for say one or two or just rude and then give you this look like you're dumb and it's just not a pleasant experience even though they say have a nice day and a better tomorrow. On top of that the new point system they have ended up robbing me of a bunch of points. Half of their registers don't work with the points right now too and they acted annoyed when I wanted to switch registers to get the double points on seafood I was purchasing. Anyway, to sum it up they're kinda rude and need to work on that. Overall though they deserve four stars but I'm keeping it at 2 until I see improvement.

Lots of parking, the deli is amazing, expensive but the staff and selection is on point 100%!Update they have a very small selection of Goya products, they are also carrying sofrito in a can it's not bad at all if you're in a pinch. New pos equipment recently installed. Support local it makes a difference.

Fosters is our local supermarket, and surprisingly competitive against the chain ones. I wouldn't shop anywhere else for seafood. Also the produce tends to be pretty spectacular. And the bakery is really good.

I LOVE THE INTERNATIONAL PRODUCTS THEY HAVE! My local grocery store never carried fresh lo mein noodles or fresh lobsters in the same place. I loved the variety or stuff they had and reasonably priced produce.

Found it! Couldn't find the coffee flavor elsewhere, but Good old Foster's had it! Maple Mama - found it in the rustic wooden display in the natural foods section. Thanks Gary and Matt.

Not quite the social experience of chains but Foster's had two items I needed and couldn't find elsewhere.

Great store, and I love that it's a small family owned business! The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because there are a few employees there who have been known to make judgemental comments and treat you a certain type of way based off of the option they generated of you within the 1 minute of interaction you've had with them. Most employees there are amazing and extremely helpful though!

Absolutely terrible!!! The produce is not fresh, the deli starts picking up in the afternoon so forget stopping by after work, the meat counter also starts putting food away hours before closing. Half the time they don’t have what I need. And forgot trying to talk to management about any of this. I heard that they won’t pay staff after scheduled time so forces staff to clean up before the store closes. I rarely ever go here anymoreReally very sad because when the father ran the place it was the BEST!!

The bottle and can redemption only accepts items the store itself sells sadly plus It's super expensive to shop here, they aren't open on Sunday's, the produce only last a few days at your house before it goes bad and ALWAYS CHECK THE EXPIRATION DATE since they sold me expired meat. Luckily they were fined when the health department went in there and checked all the dates on food and saw that some of it was being sold past the sell by dates. Still check all the dates on everything you buy here still because i believe they don't care to thoroughly check all their products unfortunately. I feel the quality of the food should definitely be way better for the price they sell everything for ..... Smh .... This is a last resort type of store for me now honestly even though it's the closest in distance to my house.

Amazing selection! Fresh veggies is the main reason for me. But the selection is greater then most would think for being a small, local grocery store. Also friendly staff. This has been the same ever since I was a kid, and hope it remains so.

Travelers, this is a great market. They have a true k that brings seafood fresh from the coast every day. They have a wonderful bakery and the deli is a cut above others. The meat is fantastic and they have a butcher. The produce is the winner here. Always fresh, a lot local and great prices. When we are in Greenfield we try to stop here to buy groceries. We recommend.

I love this neighborhood grocery store and use it both personally and professionally. Great produce and bulk foods. Outstanding seafood. Employees are friendly and helpful. Commercial delivery service is excellent; orders always arrive on time and are correct. A little pricey.

I shop here a few times a week. Local produce. Employees seem genuinely happy to work here. The meat and seafood here is much better and fresher than at the other big supermarkets in Greenfield. I LOVE FOSTERS!! Locally owned, has been in Greenfield for many decades.

Pleasant and helpful staff, including those stocking shelves and behind counters and at the registers. Clean and well stocked, neat. Prices are good. Fish lives up to its reputation. And many items available in smaller sizes, ideal for their general clientel, many of whom are elderly.

Fosters is where locals shop. Have fresh seafood and buy from local farmers. A community supermarket- the original independent market.

Love the fact that this grocery store is owned and operated locally. Their baked goods are the best I've seen in any grocery store. They also have some great all natural options. The only negative aspect is that they are a smaller grocery store then most so they do not always have whatever it is I am looking for...

Stopped by last night and picked up couple steaks for dinner plus other items including Italian bread rice, gravy, pork chops and other items! They offer a nice variety of hometown offerings as well as great seafood! I've been going to foster's for years since my childhood when the store was on federal street across from the high school! I would ride my bike there and get a coke for 10 cents! Times have changed but their hometown service and charm have not! What bud foster started has continued because of the great man and family that makes Foster's a hometown staple! Please shop this wonderful historic store!😊Don't forget about all their fresh produce!

Human sized store, great fresh fish and local food of all types. Strangely, I almost always see the same friend every time I'm there. The owners are usually in the store working, very friendly and caring people.

I really love this place. They have excellent produce and their fish is especially fresh. They also have a small but decent selection of beer and wine. It is a small place so you can get in and out quickly but they have just about everything. I go out of my way to shop there.

The best place to shop. Friendliest employees, store is just the right size so you don't have to walk a mile to do all your shopping and the prices are very competitive. My wife and I raised eight children and have continually shopped there for over fifty years. If you have never shopped Foster's, I suggest you give it a try.

We have a family tradition each memorial day to have steamed clams and we have always gone to Foster's Supermarket for them and in twenty plus years they have never let us down. This is the place to go for fresh sea foods, great staff, a gem of a place to go to.

EDIT: I was amazed at the amount of unsellable product for sale during my most recent visit. Last time I overlooked the wilted, rotting produce as I was just glad to have found a local grocer. But it wasn't just a one-off. I came back today to find a bin of swiss chard, completely wilted, fish and beef cuts packaged several days ago and beginning to discolor, yogurts and other dairy products with sell by dates passed 10 days ago. "Fresh Baked Bread" with sell-by dates instead of baked dates. Who knows how long it's kept on the shelf. All this during just a standard shopping trip, picking up products I wanted to buy. I can't imagine what else is wilting, rotting, molding, off temp, and going stale. Look. I get it. It's small, local, and times are tough. But this is a food establishment and it's a matter of public health. The majority of customers are senior citizens who may be more likely to take a hit from an unsafe food product they consumed without checking the label. Unfortunate. I want to come back and shop here because the prices and selection are decent, but I can't risk my health and I'm not even 30.ORIGINAL: Clearly for locals, by locals! Everything was competitively priced with Big Y and Stop N Shop in the area. I left the store only $20 lighter and with a big bag of fresh produce and cheeses. Seeing a big tank of lobsters is refreshing after a 5 year stint in the Midwest. Greatful to be back in New England and looking forward to shopping here regularly.
