When my boyfriend with two fat cats and I with one fuzzy dog decided to move in together we were delighted to find Emmerson almost around the corner from our new place. Our pets were examined as new patients before getting their dental cleanings in two subsequent appointments. Since then my dog with enamel hypoplasia has had two more cleanings. Emmerson had referred me to a specialty dental clinic in Boxborough to examine the sealant she had received as a puppy. They referred us to the VCA in Weymouth to get the international health certificate for travel. The staff was very helpful in forwarding all the records and providing me with hard copies. Dr. Glazier gave us good advice to get the cats’ weight down, too. Her recommended quantities of food were accurate. The male cat weighed in at 16.5 lbs and the female under 12! Before we moved in together he weighed over 20 lbs!

I had to euthanize my 20 year old cat last Tuesday. I am deeply grateful to every member of Emerson’s veterinary team for the warmth and kindness shared with me and my dear girl. They took wonderful and expert care of her in her final years and the vets were always thoughtful and kind in our discussions. Even when I moved another 3 miles away last year I continued her care with the hospital.I have just received a sympathy card signed by the team. It included my Janna’s paw prints. It was wholly unexpected and I am in tears. The hospital and team are gems 🙏🏾

Have taken my Boston Terrier here since he was a puppy. We see a different doctor at the same place now and both have been fantastic. My dog is always happy to go to the vet, they’re very caring with animals. I find the cost to be comparative or slightly less than other area vets. They performed his neutering and have dealt with some minor health issues over the years, he’s 6 now and perfectly healthy!

I have been going to Emmerson Animal Hospital for almost a decade now. The staff and doctors are not only friendly and approachable but also highly knowledgeable in their field. About four years ago, my beloved boxer was diagnosed with cancer, and unfortunately, the success rate for chemotherapy was very low. As a pet owner, this was devastating news, but the team at Emmerson worked with me to develop a plan and treatment that would ensure my dog lived out their last few months to the fullest.During this difficult time, it was clear that Emmerson genuinely cared about the health and wellbeing of my dog, and they didn't make the situation about money. They went above and beyond to provide compassionate care, which made all the difference. This level of dedication and compassion is something that sets Emmerson Animal Hospital apart from other animal hospitals in the area.What's unique about Emmerson is that it is still family-owned, you can see this in the care they provide to each animal and situation. I cannot thank them enough for the care they provided for my boxer and because of this I will never go anywhere else. This hospital is very thorough and caring towards my dog. I've received great care with all my visits. My dog has been a patient for 4 years. I was able to get an emergency appointment on a Saturday when my dog injured her leg. If my dog can't be seen in an emergency, they have helped to refer me to other urgent care centers. Prices are reasonable.

I’d like to give a shout out to Ridge who does an outstanding job at the front desk. I have 4 dogs and Ridge has been very helpful each time I call to schedule appointments. He’s very polite and efficient and when he says he’ll call if someone cancels, he does follow up and fits me in.

This place is amazing! I have always found them to be wonderful care takers of my animals, fair in price and just nice people BUT today took the cake when my baby who had a particularly colicy night was finally asleep in the car. I called and told them that I really didn't want to wake up my son to bring the dog in after he had just gone go sleep. They were willing to come out and get the dog for her check up and later the vet came out to talk to me about it. I couldn't believe it!

Have taken 3 of my cats here and they've been great with every single one. This includes an old, blind cat with kidney failure whom they were exceptionally accommodating for and were willing to work with our at-home veterinarian for prescriptions/lab testing/x-rays. Excellent, kind, very caring staff, and they don't over charge. 100% reccomend these people.

All I can say is Thank You! ❤️ I have a 8 month old female kitty and she was very sick and they got her better! It will cost a bit but they do favors and try to skip things so you do not get a big payment. They even offered to keep her today so while I went to work so they can make sure she is ok.. I would not trust any other Veterinary Hospital with the care of my pet.The Dr.'s are extraordinary, not to mention The Great Veterinary Tech's that work along side the Dr.'s..One Tech. I believe Cassidy, treated my cat as if he was her own. Not to forget all the support staff.Best Animal Hospital ever.

If I could give them a -10 I would! The staff is unkind. The vets are arrogant and don’t care about one’s concerns. My cat is highly sensitive to vaccines and they refused to clean her teeth if I didn’t do a distemper vaccine that she doesn’t need, but that they (and other vets do) as a “protocol.” In reality what the want is money. They didn’t even ask me if I could afford the vaccine. I tried to tell them that my cat didn’t do well with vaccines although I always do the rabies as is required by law. Yet, they didn’t care and treated me poorly. My cat’s medical records don’t even say that she’s been there with side effects of the vaccines they have given them (of course it’s not convenient!) Their practice is disingenuous. How sad it is to know that a place that should care about the animals they serve, is more focused on profit. Horrible place! And this is not the first time I have an issue with them. I was a masochistic I guess!

I was never told on the phone to call from the parking lot when I got there so I walked to the door and saw the sign on the door to call so I was in the process of getting my phone out of my bag when an employee walked up and I explained to her that my cat carrier was broken and I didn’t realize it til we had already put him inside so I wanted my boyfriend to carry him over and put him inside the door in case he got out. I brought another carrier to put him afterwards. So she told me to get the other carrier and bring it over which I did but a vet tech came to the door and started yelling at me saying I couldn’t come in. I told her I didn’t want to come in and that I had just explained the situation to the other woman - that I didn’t want my cat to get loose on Freeport St. So my boyfriend carried my cat over and set him inside the door and this woman continued arguing with me. My boyfriend told her to stop yelling at me and she said I was yelling at her. He said that she was the professional and should know better. At that point she finally stopped. I said I would never go there again and she said that’s fine. Nobody deserves to be treated that way

I made an appointment with my dog for a checkup. The only time they had that was offered was a 6:30 a.m. appointment on a Monday. Not necessarily an ideal time. I questioned the time and asked if there was another appointment and the woman on the phone said no because they had a cancellation was the only reason they had this appointment. I also confirmed a.m. or p.m. because I didn't even think they would be open at 6:30 a.m. she said a.m. so I drive there Monday I'm there at 6:30 a.m. they said to call and they'll come up to the car to get the dog. No answer, Walk around the building and no one's there and no one's inside. Wait about 20 minutes thinking maybe they're running late. No one shows up no one answers. I'm just so frustrated that someone made an appointment made me drive in that early to the city with my dog and then not even be there or show up.Respond to comment - So the business left the comment below my review, I can't respond to it there, but it was the right place, once I called, they did have me on file so that was just an attempt to act like this was not them. She basically called me a liar when I said she said AM and I had a friend with me when I called who also heard it, I booked on speaker phone in the car and I Confirmed "AM" twice because it seemed like such a weird time. I Decided to go to another Vet, and when they called to get the paperwork, they said they had no record of me and could not provide anything, but I have all my printed copies of everything. Just what a horrible place this is.

You couldn’t pay me to ever go back to this place. If you’re a Pit Bull or any bully breed owner I would steer clear of here. The vet was very rude to me whenever I would bring my dog in. She progressively got worse at the vet because they never handled her correctly which led to fear aggression. The vet techs were great but the vet (Tricia Glazier) was very cold and depending on who’s at the front desk they can be rude as well especially on the phone.I asked for sedatives when I bring my dog to the vet it was denied. When she tore her ACL and I declined surgery and asked for a brace she told me she wouldn’t give me one unless I did the surgery which had a 50/50 chance of helping and she’d develop arthritis anyway. The vet clearly doesn’t read the notes because when I bought her back in for vaccines, she yanked her leg back (the injured one) and I had to remind her! Also had me spend almost $900 on bloodwork and other unnecessary testing when I told them my dog most likely has a UTI (which I was right), I paid for unhealthy and expensive prescription diet kidney food which did nothing but make her worse.I’ve bought every single pet of mine to this place since I was a child and I will never step foot in there again. I started taking my dog to Boston Veterinary Clinic last year which is expensive but they’ve done nothing but treat her with love, patience and care all the way up until she died last month of cancer, that if detected earlier I could’ve saved her. If you’re looking for a vet that doesn’t discriminate against you or your bully breeds I’d go elsewhere.

Dropped my boxer off for boarding ONLY. When my husband went to pick him up, he was presented with a $279 bill. Without my consent they gave him all of his vaccinations that weren't due for another month. Not so much as a phone call from a technician asking if I had any concerns. His usual vet is in South Boston...I will never board my dog here again.

Thank goodness we got a second opinion with Dr. Bodkin and saved thousands of dollars on a surgery that another vet told us our cat needed. She advised us to switch her diet instead and it completely solved the problem. We're forever clients of Emmerson now.
