North side trail is short, a little steep, but easy. Kids can do it too. Ample parking to drive up as well. Great views of the valley, small observation tower, picnic tables, bathrooms etc.

One of the best views of the Connecticut river valley in the area! There is a hiking trail that goes around the mountain. There is a tower on top of the mountain. You can get really great pictures from. Also a auto road that’s open for travel on seasonal travel. The auto trail in parking area to the top of the summit has a fee. You can download the Yodel app to pay the fee.Restrooms: Seasonal restrooms only.

Pretty easy hike to do with my 5 kids (ages 4-11). Bathrooms available up top. Picnic areas. Beautiful views. There are even a few geocaches along the way! Great place to check out if you love the outdoors!

Nice little loop of trails up here, nothing majorly strenuous nor a particularly long hike regardless of your direction of travel going up to the top, but pretty solid scenery!! It is a little steep regardless of which side you go up, but depending on your ability level, it's really not a bad trek at all, only a little over 2 miles, and the summit is about 900 ish feet... but the views for such a short mountain are pretty great! 😎👌 plus on this particular trip there was some snow to lay in and roll around in, along with some great sticks to pick up and chew on along the way!! 😅🐶👍🐶👍😅

I’ve been enjoying this view for decades. It’s lovely and during the week, never crowded.Bring a lunch and get some green time into your day instead of screen time.

I’m truly overwhelmed by all the views when I was standing at the top before the sunset. We went there when the auto road is open, but many cars were piping up for the parking lot at the summit, so we just took a walk up. It’s taking us about 30 minutes. If you need auto road, the road is open until 6:15pm. Walking down via “steep” trail is truly not a thing for senior adults, the path is not only slippery but also quite steep to take. If you have family or partners who needs a easy walk, please take auto road or the path heading towards to north.Overall , it’s a very nice place. Definitely recommend

Mount Sugarloaf is a a great hiking area with a variety of paths, from steep to moderate, and a paved road to the top. It's centrally located in the Pioneer Valley in the town of Deerfield. The steep path has a few heart-pounding spots with narrow footing and steep drop offs. The bald, grassy top with a lookout tower allows for an expansive view of the Pioneer Valley and surrounding ranges. It's a quick hike with a huge payoff at the end, appropriate for most hikers. A hike on Mount Sugarloaf could easily be combined with a day exploring Historic Deerfield, Yankee Candle, and/or Treehouse Brewing. Enjoy!

Great short hike! Beautiful views. Good place for a picnic, picnic tables at the top. Cool tower and viewing. Public bathrooms and water at the top- possibly closed due to COVID. Easy parking in paved lot. Lots of different surrounding trails or an easy paved road up for stroller access. Really well maintained. Lots of chipmunk roadkill so drive slowly :(

Nice quick hike with a great view. Road is closed during winter months, so park at the bottom and hike up. The road is not cleared, and winter time its covered with ice and snow. The trail is muddy, but a lot shorter going up.

This place is great for a short walk, "A walk to remember". After an almost 15-20 minute climb, you can enjoy the beautiful view of the woods and the Connecticut river ...

Mt. Sugarloaf St. Reservation is a great place to hike or take the drive up the southern peak. There is also a northern peak with hiking trails. I have hiked both mountains numerous times and both have great views. The vistas are better on South Sugarloaf but the overlook on North Sugarloaf is worth a visit too in my book. On the summit of South Sugarloaf is an observation tower and places to have a picnic or cookout. I haven't driven up in a while, not sure if it's still free or if there's a fee. Either way, I highly recommend this Reservation for locals and visitors to explore.

This was a hazy day on top of Sugarloaf. The view is spectacular and it's so nice that you have the option of driving or hiking to the summit. The road is two-ways for the most part and very narrow in spots, so along with crossings for hikers, caution and slow going are important.

A beautiful hike with beautiful views at the top. I took the short but steep trail up and it was exciting and quite the workout. You can take the road up and down for an easier leisure walk. The views of the Connecticut River are breathtaking.

Hiked on sugarloaf twice now and every time I do, I always find my breath taken away literally by the hike and the beautiful view at the very top. It’s not a super long hike, but it’s steep enough that it will exhaust you if you try to hike it non-stop. Better equip yourselves with water and maybe snacks if you are a snacker like me. There’s a good area to hang out at the very top too. If you wish to bring a game or two and play with friends, that’s also an idea. Here’s a picturesque view of Pioneer Valley! It’s almost like a painting!

Such a beautiful drive up to Mt Sugarloaf State Reservation. We really enjoyed the views. Perfect spot for a picnic lunch or BBQ. A beautiful Pavillion with charcoal grills for special occasions. The views of the CT River from the top of the tower took your breath away. So pretty with the fall foliage in the background. We really enjoyed this gem

Short, steep hike to a fantastic view at the top of South Sugarloaf. Keep going to North Sugarloaf or head back into town and pick up a few beers from two great breweries- Tree House and Berkshire Brewing.

Mount Sugarloaf is a very well hiked little mountain. It's a great near by place to get in some quick and satisfying exercise, fresh air and pretty spectacular views! This is a fun place to hike with the kids, especially during off-season when the gates are closed to vehicles (gate stays closed approx late Oct to mid May.) I could hike here every day!

Definitely one of the most beautiful views in Massachusettes. You can either hike to the summit or you can simply drive.
