I am completely shocked and disgusted by the way my dog was treated while staying at the Barkwood Inn this past week 4/6/24 to 4/13/24. My dog was separated and kept from any playtime for 4 days of his 7 days at the Barkwood due to being “ill”. Which I would understand had this illness not been from the negligence on the staffs part. Come to find out he was ill because the staff did not follow the feeding instructions provided to them. They took it upon themselves to change his food (even though we sent him with more than enough food, they even sent all but two days of food back in the bags we separated out for him) This caused him to have diarrhea. They then proceed to continue giving him the food they had without permission and would not let him play with the others dogs because he had diarrhea. They were supposed to call and provide updates on his condition and did not the only reason I knew he was not being allowed to join playtime still was because I was watching him on the webcams. He was better on Saturday and they still continued to not allowed to play with the other dogs causing us to have a family member come pick him up early so would stop being neglected. I can not for the life of me understand why they would change a dogs food rapidly like this it is common knowledge that doing this causes dogs to get diarrhea. I do not suggest sending your pets here as it is clear that the staff does not have the proper training or education to properly feed/care for animals even when clear instructions are provided. I wish I could give them negative stars as this was the most stressful boarding experience for both myself and my dog. This business owes my poor dog a huge apology for the way the mishandled his stay.

Our German Shepard is very happy when staying here. We’ve used this place multiple times and always had a good experience. The prices are reasonable and extras for pups are very nice as well. I highly recommend it.

The Barkwood Inn & Pet Resort is officially my #1 go-to place to drop off my Husky’s for boarding or day care. Their prices are reasonable and affordable. I am very grateful for them; I recommend them 110% to anyone who needs their dogs to stay there. They are clean, responsible, loving with the dogs, and provide excellent customer service. My dogs stayed their for 10 days; I searched various places to board my dogs and was left dissatisfied; But I found Barkwood Inn and this is the best place in town! I love my dogs and worry a lot about them, so I was very anxious when I first left them at barkwood. However, the manager and the staff at Barkwood Inn, were always attentive to my needs as a pet owner; especially, to my dog needs. They are on top of everything and respond back to any calls or concerns whether through the day time or the night time. The webcam allowed me to feel more comfortable leaving them at boarding since I was able to watch my dogs at any time of the day and/or during their play time hours. My Huskies were able to play with other doggies and Barkwood Inn always posted pictures of them. My dogs returned back much happier and gained a couple pounds since they were eating correctly and being taken care of so well by Barkwood Inn. I am incredibly grateful and happy with my dog’s stay here at Barkwood Inn. Thank you to Megan (the manager) and the rest of the staff of Barkwood Inn for their patience, care, understanding, and amazing work ethic!!

My dog spent 2 days Nov. 17-18th both in perfect health upon arrival Friday, got sick while there and are now both very sick with vomiting/diarrhea. Just spent $130 on meds for both from vet! This is NOT "stress Colitis" as kennel claims! 2 dogs = 2 nights horrible experience!

The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the booking process was easy. The facility is clean and well appointed. I love that I have the option for web cam access to keep an eye on my boarded pups, and they also post daily pictures on social media so I can see them there as well. My dogs were well cared for and came home clean. Pricing is reasonable, and they offer a discount for multiple dogs sharing a room. I've checked out other facilities with equivalent pricing that offer concrete and chain link "cells" in a barn. The Barkwood Inn is warm and inviting, and I felt comfortable leaving my beloved doggos with them.

We boarded our 2 medium sized pups here for 2 nights and they are both tuckered out. This was the first time we boarded them. They were able to give us a tour of the facility and the various rooms for the dogs are all great sizes. Every question we had they answered. We didn't get the webcams (it is an option) but we did get to see the pups playing on the webcams in the yards. Will be going back if they have rooms, highly recommend!

We were so reluctant to leave our Doby anywhere at first. We made the best decision for him! They cared for him genuinely. Their customer service is immaculate. Save money to get the best that they have toboffer because it is WELL worth it!! They gained a returning permanent customer; and Doby was so happy making friends and being spoiled and well looked after!

Barkwood Inn is the only place I have my pets go. I used to go closer to home, but the experience of the friendly staff and how well they take care of my animals at the Barkwood has caused me to travel farther, but is worth it. My dog is always tuckered out by the end of the week of how much play time and attention he receives. He always comes home smelling nice and clean. The staff are always warm welcoming and answer any questions or concerns I might have. I know my pets are in great hands when I leave them with Barkwood. I highly recommend this place. I suggest calling in advance, even after recently expanding their facility, they do fill up quickly because they are that well known and trusted.

They take such good care of my dogs I will not bring them anywhere else. As soon as I pull into the parking lot the dogs get excited and at check in completely forget I am there and run off to have fun. Staff are thorough, compassionate and pay attention to detail. Best dog boarding in Mass! I was very nervous leaving my rescue for an extended amount of time, but the Barkwood eased all of our concerns immediately. When we picked up our pup she was as happy as can be! I highly recommend all of the Barkwoods services.

The only dog place I've been in that doesn't smell like stinky dog. We did day care and an overnight. Super cute that the dogs get their own little hotel room with patio. Love that they have cameras to check on your dog. He looked to be having a great time. He was only slightly peaved we left him.

My dog, Lily, just had her first stay at Barkwood Inn for the past few days. I was so impressed. It was a beautiful location with wonderful accommodations. I especially liked the "suite" where Lily stayed. It certainly did not look like a typical kennel. It was a private area where she could be calm and feel secure. It was great to be able to check in on her with the webcam not only in her room but also in the play areas. Lily typically does not have much interaction with other dogs, however, the staff was able to get her involved in playtime. The staff was attentive to all the dogs in their care. I would highly recommend the Barkwood Inn. We traveled an hour just to have Lily stay there. It was well worth the trip.

Barkwood is the best boarding facility in the whole state. The staff is so professional, and friendly to both owners and animals. The management staff makes you feel like family when you walk in and treat your pet like family too. The owners are great and run the business top notch. They try and accommodate almost every request and try their best to get it done, if not come up with a great solution to the problem. I would recommend this to anyone and put my word that they will make you feel welcome from the minute you come in to the minute you walk out. This place is grade A and I wouldn't bring my pets anywhere else.

Absolutely LOVE Barkwood. There is no one else I trust more with my animals. Everyone is always so nice and greets you with a warm smile when you walk through the doors. I used to leave my dogs with my parent's, but they are getting older and the dogs are too much for them now. One of the worker's upfront named Sam always treats you like family and makes you feel comfortable leaving your pets there. If I ever have a question, concern, or an emergency she is the one to go above and beyond to help me out.There is no one I trust more to watch my fur babies when I'm away. Plus, who doesn't love watching their pups play with other dogs on the webcams or photos posted on facebook?

My dog has a vision issue that makes her feel insecure around crowds. Barkwood employees give her the confidence to overcome her fear and play with others. They are very loving towards the animals and makes me feel safe leaving her there while on vacation. They are the best. I highly recommend barkwood

They were amazing with our Hallie! Watching her on the webcams put us at ease. She also had a spa day with a bath, toenail clipping, a banana, and they even washed he bed! If we travel again she will definitely be going back!

I've been bringing my 2 dogs to The Barkwood Inn Pet Resort for 10 years, and I would literally never go anywhere else. I know that my pups are well cared for when I leave them. I can check on them using the webcam, and they always receive lots of love and attention. The staff is incredible!

Our family was incredibly disappointed with the Barkwood Inn as we have used them in the past and not had issues. Over Christmas we boarded our dog for nine days during which time he lost 8 pounds, ( he is only 47 lbs)had diarrhea for four days, and was kept out of daycare. They never notified us to tell us what was going on. When I got him home he could not walk as all his legs were collapsing from underneath him. He would not eat or drink anything and did not have the strength to even stand up. He needed to be carried for days. I went and spoke to them the next day and they "checked the notes. " I was extremely concerned that they never called us to notify us that our dog clearly had not eaten one bite of food. They also sent his toys back covered in feces. I was told the owner would call me which here we are two weeks later and I have still not heard anything. Absolutely disgusted. After talking to other people they have had similar situations which is incredibly disappointing.
