Stopped by on an annual trip through the area and were happy to see the new business at River Cafe! The food is focused on local sources and the menu has a great variety with reasonable prices.We had the fried chicken sandwhich with the delicous hand-cut fries and a burger with the impressive macaroni salad. Our warm cup of tea and coffee hit the spot, and we saved room for a piece of the amazing maple glazed applesauce cake - so yummy!Pat was very friendly and offered excellent service. The atmosphere is very welcoming and relaxing, and we appreciated the little touches that made for a great lunch. I highly recommened stopping by the next time you are in the area for a great experience!

Grilled cheese with tomato and bacon added was good. Good homemade fries and iced tea. Patty melt tasted good but you get more bread than patty. Patty shaped for bun not bread. They were offering breakfast too even though it was after 12pm. It's worth a stop

Had a wonderful time here! Visiting from out of state and this place came recommended by a local man at a gas station. The staff was helpful and the food was very fresh. Only about 15 minutes between ordering and serving. We had the best server, (I think her name was Sasha?) Definitely request her when coming in, she was so sweet and so helpful to me and my elderly grandparents. If the owner is reading, definitely give this girl a raise! She deserves it!!

Stopped by right before our ski experience looking for a regular breakfast to fill us in, and ended having one of the greatest breakfast experiences I have ever had. In summary: attentive staff, great and high quality food, constant refill of a coffee that tasted better than I expected, and a cozy environment that made our time there a delight. We will be coming back!

The River Cafe is awesome. They have great breakfast and lunch on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. They have daily specials that are so delicious, plus their menu has many options. Chef, Mark is awesome, and if there is something else you wish they had, please let him know, as he is always open to suggestions. Their Baker, Rita is great! She bakes anything from delicious chocolate cake, muffins. turnovers, coffee cake, plus more. Their staff, Manat, Meghan, Pat, and Jodie, are terrific. You never have to wait for anything as their on top of it. Please check them out, as you won't be disappointed. They are friendly and professional. Plus, the place is spotless. It's an amazing restaurant located on Route 2, Charlemont MA [next to the Cold River package store]. BTW, in the future, they hope to start serving Friday night dinners

Nothing else in Charlemont beats this for price or quality and its conveniently located! They only had the one cook working so we had a bit of a wait but the food was GREAT with a beautiful interior and nice gardens for outside dining with a view of Berkshire East to boot. They have a gentle-gourmet menu and the staff was super nice. Definitely a repeat customer here.Vegetarian options: AvailableParking: large parking lotKid-friendliness: staff was so nice and the place was classy but just casual enough for everyone to feel comfortable. Stopped here for lunch and we had a ham and brie sandwich (special) and cheeseburger with fries. Bread is homemade from a local bakery and the French fries were also homemade. The sandwiches were delicious and the waitress was very kind. Would definitely come back again. They are also dog friendly and brought water for our dog for outdoor seating.

OMG, such a cute place. Terrific menu choices, wonderful outdoor seating, amazing food. The patio seating was ringed with flowers, potted and planted. The food was great - we tried a smoked salmon and egg croissant. It was excellent! Our table also had a veggie omelets, jam packed full of fresh vegetables. Service was new-ish, but enthusiastic! Prices were reasonable. We would definitely go again.

Wow, what a find for Friday night dinner! They are only open only for dinner on Friday nights from 5 to 8 and the menu changes each week. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was bright and clean. The food was phenomenal. We had roast pork and chicken Cordon Bleu chicken cordon bleu with fettuccine.in someways I don’t want to write a positive review because it could potentially get crowded. It’s that good.

Fantastic Cafe, only been open a few weeks with new owners. A married couple own it. The woman is delightful as your host! The food is just the best!! I really like that the owners support area business, farms, bakery, etc.. The Food and coffee: Coffee, great and Hot! Food: I had a River cafe Patty Melt, Delish!! Fries and cole slaw were the bomb 👍👍 My wife had the cafe roasted turkey breast Vermont cheddar and cranberry mayo!!! Chocolate Cake Homemade by the owner ⭐️🇺🇸 Great overall experience!!!!

This place had a rocky start with the service side of things. That being said, the food has always been good with excellent beer choices and changing specials. They recently have really gotten it together on the service end and we've had excellent, speedy service as of late. Staff is very friendly too. Definitely on the up and up!UPDATE: Totally new owner. Food now just reheated frozen food and no beer. You can’t order a salad at dinner time either which is weird

My wife and I were traveling on a Sunday through the Berkshires back to Boston, and were looking for a place to have lunch.We came away very happy after we found the River Cafe !We sat outside. and enjoyed the fall sun .The staff were so attentive and helpful, the menu was just what we were looking for. Stopped by here on a whim and I'm glad we did. The atmosphere was nice and the waitress was attentive. I had the special (thanksgiving style turkey sandwich) it was great and my husband really liked his food as well. Prices were pretty good I'd definitely go back if we go up that way.

Stopped in for a break from the Bike Park and my son and I had some delicious pancakes and a really delicious turkey sandwich. Food was very fresh and well prepared. If there was one thing to put us off is that we did not seem as welcome as other patrons, perhaps because of showing up in our bike gear? We got a few "unapproving looks".......it's not a fancy place by any means though but perhaps that's whats doing here? I'm not sure what that was about. My son and I both agreed we got some dirty looks. What do you expect with a huge bike park across the street? Our money is green too you know.

We actually stumbled upon this restaurant on a recent vacation trip. I was soooo surprised to find such an amazing restaurant in such a somewhat remote location! The food was incredible and their menu included chef-prepared specials such as a special stew with cornbread, mussels, butternut squash soup etc. they also had a big assortment of homemade pies that looked amazing, though I didn’t sample them! Anyway, be sure to stop in if you are anywhere close to this area!

Stopped here after a hike. The food was great and the service was friendly, but it was pretty slow. It took us almost a half hour to get our order of two sandwiches. I think there was some confusion behind the counter, so I would definitely give another chance, but it was quite frustrating at the time. All in all a fairly good experience though.
