This is deeply the worst Target I have ever been to, if you can even call this a Target. It is woefully understocked and the environment feels dank & sad.Upon my most recent visit, I learned they have converted the lower floor into a glass prison for the products. There are aisles of little cages for basically any necessary product. You have to ask an employee to grab any of the products, turning shopping into a slow, agonizing, and embarassing experience. If you would like to smell what a shampoo is like, now you have to do it shamefully. God forbid that you have the product in your hand and realize you do not like it… Now you have to take up more of the employees time, as well as making the wait longer for another person to get their items.If you want multiple personal products, such as deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, and soap, a Target employee becomes an underpaid personal shopper as they have to unlock a door at your whim. The products are locked up like you are in the Apple section at Best Buy, except instead of locking up $1000 macbooks, they are locking up the $6 Dove spray deodorant, as these two products are definitely of equal value. In fact, I could go to a Best Buy and purchase a $200 mechanical keyboard without having to get it freed from a glass prison with a lock.I do not believe that the amount of shampoo stolen by the unhoused and low income is so detrimental to Target that the tens of thousands spent on locking up the products and loss of customers is more inexpensive. I mean, considering how this Target was already in the lowest tier of Targets in this country, I would assume they would perhaps put money towards improving the store to retain customers. Perhaps the money for the personal product prison cells could have been put towards making this Target less of a sad and depressing place. There is a reason why this Target is a ghost town when you walk inside.There is no point to going to this “Target”. They honestly may as well just close down. You can barely even shop here, and it would probably be easier to just shop online with another company.

There are so many items locked up and it takes away from the guest experience. There are also a lot of bare shelves and overall lack of product selection. You're better off just ordering online or going to a different location if you want to shop in store, unless it's a necessity.

Decent grocery selection but home goods are hit or miss (poor stocking). Unfortunately they have been impacted by rampant shoplifting so many items are in locked cabinets, as others have mentioned. Happy to have this store in central but it is sub par as far as city targets are concerned.

This is basically set up like a neighborhood market. It’s very condensed inside, but I have to say for convenience I might give it 5-stars. Maybe Target might want to look into having these in other neighborhoods. It’s 2 floors and packed tightly but I like that it had everything you would see in Target.

Like some other city groceries or department stores, they have begun to lock up easily stolen household goods. It is very inconvenient to get an employee to retrieve or open cases for you especially as they seem perenially understaffed. I feel ridiculous waiting for employees to buy something as simple as a tube of toothpaste. In fairness there are people openly fencing what appear to be stolen goods about 100 yards away in central square....No reason not to buy off amazon or your favorite mail order store instead. Grocery selection is low, low quality, and high in price.

Good selection for an in-city Target, they have some grocery and then a little bit of everything you might need. Very handy if you live in Central Square or are a few stops away on the Red Line. Pretty much dead center between Harvard and MIT. There’s not a ton of parking in Central Square though if you are thinking about driving.

Last night I picked up a couple online orders. At home I realized that I was missing one of the times. I should have checked before leaving Target. After explaining the situation over the phone today, they worked with me to resolve the issue. Shoutout to Corbin, the manager who was very nice.

Started locking basic items here- I feel so bad for the staff who have to run around helping people and for the shoppers who either wait minutes for what would usually be a 3 second purchase or more likely go without and opt to buy the item elsewhere

My favorite store in the area. Best prices. Organized items. Clean smells good store. And friendly customer services. AND for years I am comparing the sale on the main items such as coffee and water in the store with the stores around and I really suggest target.

This Target is always a challenge, but it's generally a good store. It's limited in staff and space. It doesn't carry many of the items larger Target stores have in stock. I've often come in for something specific (like ice cream or kombucha) that this location does carry, but find the shelf is empty. It helps to use you Target app to see if they carry an item you're looking for and if it's currently in stock.

If you have to go to a target, this might be the worst one in Cambridge/somerville/Boston. Not because the employees are unhelpful, they’re all pleasant people, but because the location is so small that you will not find what you need. Usually when I visit this location; there are no mirrors stocked; the hair care station never has any of the items that I bought on the last visit (one to two months prior); the protein powder section only has two whey options and two vegan options, and there are no protein bars, only ketogenic high fat bars. Interestingly, the grocery here is one of the best groceries in the square. You can find a pound of tomato for under two dollars, a good variety of dairy products and a decent amount of baking items. Probably the best grocery I’ve ever seen in any target.

It’s always nice. The workers are all nice. Sometimes there are some stuffs that are out of stock but I had a great experience today. I left my laptop at the cashier and the guy kept it for me. It freaked me out leaving my almost everything. But, thanks to the worker I got my laptop back.

Store is conveniently located. Out of stock of a lot of things a lot of the time. Bad customer/guest service. Cashier Ken threw my item at me at checkout, when asked if this was how he gave all his customers their items back after ringing them in he said “no its just been a long day.” Offered no apology or anything after. All in all, one stop shop for essentials but they may not have it and you will almost definitely not get decent customer/guest service.

I literally just called the Cambridge police on the store security staff. I was literallerally chased up the stairs by female security guard for not stealing. I had spoken to the the shuft supervisor Stephanie about my concerns. Went up and was about to leave asked to speak to the head of security and was treated like garbage by him. And than told to leave their was no store director and to leave. I informed them i was calling the police...Suggestion do not bring your own shopping bags you pickup security and are signaled out followed around the store...i am a regular customer. Not anymore.

This target is a city target with two floors with stairs, so be aware of this when coming. The food items are on the main floor and electronics, home, etc all downstairs. The annoying part is there is no easy way to use a cart in the store because of the two floor situation. The workers were all nice and I do appreciate the security personnel by the door. However this target was SUPER under stocked on so many things and part of their cooler section wasn’t even being used. I pretty much got the last one of every item I bought. It’s okay but obviously much better big box stores exist.

I am 67 years old and this store made me wish I was in my grave already. I came into this store in search of a gift for my mother because she is on her death bed but her birthday is coming up soon. When I was looking in the makeup section on the second floor, I noticed an employee staring at me for a while. I went into a different isle and this employee followed me. You won’t believe what she said to me!! She told me I need to wear more makeup to cover my wrinkles!! THIS WAS EXTREMELY RUDE AND OUTRAGEOUS!!! I CANNOT believe Target allows people like this to work for them. I HOPE YOU HANDLE THIS!!!

Very small store despite the 2 floors, lots of empty shelves, nothing is ever available. Layout is extremely unintuitive and they often do not have products you would expect them to have. I shop here out of convenience only and often have to leave without the items I came for.

I’m not a fan of the remodel. The layout made less room and now has less products in an arrangement that makes no sense. The staff act like you’re in their way if you happen to be going down an isle they’re coming up on. With the exception of a few employees who actually are really amazing this store has gone way downhill over the last 2yrs.

This target is unfortunately the closest one to my new apartment. The convenience is nice, but in the two months I have been here, I've noticed that almost half the products I buy are well past the sell by date. May be partially my fault for not looking, but never in my life have I imagined they'd be doing this. Just today I realized that a tub of cookie dough I bought last week had a sell by date that was 3 WEEKS before I moved here! That means they sold it to me 7 weeks past the date! It's about the 4th product I've noticed in the past week after looking over all the stuff in my fridge. Makes me never want to buy food from here again

They have pretty much all the essentials, but the self-checkout line is frequently long and wraps all the way back to the milk/beer. They should reduce the clothes section (which is barely used comparatively) to just the basics (small selection of socks, underwear, undershirts) and add more self-checkouts. Either that, or they need to get better self-checkout machines – today 5/6 were simultaneously not working.

I have not had the negative experience with the employees that other people are reporting here. Staff at this Target have been consistently helpful and friendly to me. I do pretty much all my grocery shopping here now - the value is just too good compared to the pricey specialty shops in the area.

Lot's to shop for. high ceilings lots of room makes it easier to breed look things hand to eye and they have lots essential things to shop for good store. Parking no problem

Been living in the area for about 2 years now, this Target is never completely stocked up, so when I make grocery runs to get what I need, I always have to return sporadically throughout the week to get everything on my list, which is the biggest inconvenience when you don't have a lot of time. Last time I went in, the entire meat section was blocked off, so there goes all my meal prep plans.Credit where credit is due, the staff is alway , ALWAYS extremely friendly and helpful!
