Indisputably the most competent, kind, and efficient staff I've experienced out of hundreds of various stores. I went in for a request unrelated to buying anything, and the very kind cashier/manager indulged my request, helping save me over 45 minutes.Then a separate employee helped me figure out exactly which door sweep I needed. I was able to kill two birds with one store thanks to the amazing employees here at Pill Hardware. Thanks again!

I've always liked this hardware store! Lived in Central a few years back and recently moved back to the area.The employees are helpful and, though it's not huge, the shop its pretty well stocked for typical home/home improvement needs. Since it's a fairly quick walk for me, I'll usually stop here first before looking to order anything online. In addition, they've reliably duplicated keys for me in the past (and today actually!). I've never had an issue with duplicated keys, but if you bring back the problem keys with the receipt they'll help you out.Overall take away: Pill Hardware is a good hardware shop and I'm happy to continue being a patron of it.

I called ahead to ask if they had a paint I needed — they said yes, so I made the trip to go purchase … they did not have the paint.Edit to respond to the owner:I'm not sure what you're referring to about yelling at an employee, I had polite interactions with your staff. If we want to discuss yelling, when I walked in an employee was in a yelling match with a different customer, perhaps you meant them. This didn't feel relevant in my initial review since it was not my experience, but I find it pretty alarming to be accused of this for posting an honest review. Thank you for confirming this as a place to avoid for myself and anyone else reading.

The young African American boy that works here is very rude. I ask for his help and he walks away and never comes back. When I walk to the back to try to find somebody else to assist me I found him sitting in another room in the back on his phone. He failed to even ask another coworker to help me find what I was looking for like he lied and told me he would. this is the second time I’ve had a bad experience with this young man. Another time he told me the store was out of stock of something that I really needed and without looking he told me the store didn’t sell it when I asked somebody else they found it right away. He seems to not know very much of anything and now has made my last few times coming here horrible. I’ve been going here for over 15 years for my hardware and unfortunately will have to be my last time coming here. Pills just not like how it use to be

Horrible. There’s mice all over the store. I couldn’t even contine shopping bc I had 2 mice run across the aisle while I was shopping. So gross. I told an employee and they acted like it was normal. Really gross and plus they have nothing you need here just overpriced regular household items

Somewhat reliable but prices on spray paint are out of control. Go literally anywhere else and get spray paint for about a half of the price. $9 for a single can of normal paint isn’t seen anywhere else even for fancy paint.

Incredibly overpriced and very rude staff. ACE recommended me here online for a $6.99 battery that I was charged $16.99 for. When I pointed the error out to the clerk he rolled his eyes at me and told me to just buy it online then. Just go to the ACE store down the street in Inman!

I'm always impressed with the variety of hardware that they manage to fit into their small shop space. Prices are a bit higher than the big box stores, but that's typical of places that can boast spitting distance to a T stop. And I've never had complaints about the staff. This place is perfect for picking up supplies for small odd jobs.

I have gone in twice and both times they had what I needed at a good price. Staff however is not very friendly/knowledgeable from my experience. I like supporting local businesses but I wouldn’t go here if i didn’t know what I needed.

So the prices can be a little higher than your typical Big Box store the staff is friendly helpful and accommodating unlike the big box stores. Great for picking up handyman materials and quick buys for small repair jobs I love this place.

Like any of the few remaining neighborhood TruValue franchisees, Pill Hardware is not as comprehensive as the box store hardware stores -- but they have what you need to make plumbing and household repairs, paint, clean, purchase and store basic tools, plant and maintain lawns and gardens, set up a kitchen or bathroom, and cut keys and blinds. Their prices may be slightly higher on certain items than a box store -- but you didn't spend gas, mileage on your car, and time going out of your way to get there. Best of all, you are supporting a disappearing tradition of diverse "Main Street" businesses all within walking distance.

Great little hardware store right in the heart of Central. The store is pretty small, but they always seem to have whatever random hardware I'm looking for. Prices are reasonable and staff are helpful at pointing out where the item I'm looking for is located.

A gem of a resource for anyone who needs to get stuff done around the house. You name it and the knowledgeable people at the Covid-safe front counter can tell you if they have it and where to find it. If it's not on the rack they'll go check the stock in a mysterious rmpkoyee-only lower level. If it can be ordered, they'll order it. I have purchased everything from hose clamps to epoxy putty to box-cutter replacement blades to a plastic sheeting storm window for my slidere. There's even a small selection of kitchen appliances. Support this store. It's one of the last ones standing and deserves to continue because it dies its job wonderfully.
