Decent STOP&SHOP that has been in the location for years with plenty of parking and a brand new liquor store, Rockland Trust Bank and a Walgreens right next to it. Got even a basketball & tennis court right to the right of it and across the street. Quiet location in the Hyde Park, Readville area. Big store, good prices and nice employees. Nice part of Boston that a lot of locals probably have never been to.

I've noticed a lot of positive changes over the last 10 months since my last review. I'm here a lot and the produce is so much better, especially the fruit 🍓🍓. The people working here have always been excellent so that's nothing new, but the changes in the quality of produce is noticable.

Decent grocery store although many items are overpriced. We come here if we need to pick up something quickly and only because it’s close to where we live. Employees are always friendly and helpful.

There should be more full-service check-out lines open. When I visited today there was one full-service check-out line open, with a line waiting.Self check-out: I'm just waiting for them to require a strip-search in self check-out lines. The latest wrinkle is if you use your own grocery bags you need to put them on the bagging tray, so the machine can determine if you might be trying to steal. Then the attendant comes to check and clears you of trying to steal. Really?I have been a regular and satisfied customer up to this moment. More reason to use full-service check-out even if there is a line. Way to go S&S!! Let's see how many more good customers you can offend with the self check-out line. Two stars out of five. Thanks Google for allowing me the opportunity to fight back against consumer oppression.

Every time I do an online order they either forget something and I have to go back or they lie. The last time there was a “computer glitch” no one called to tell me so I showed up at the designated time slot. They told me it wasn’t ready and to come back at 8pm. I said no problem I showed back up at 7:55pm for someone to answer and say didn’t I tell you 8pm. They ignored my calls from that point on and I wasn’t able to get my food. I had to call back the next day and set up another time to pick up my food. Mind you I would have cancelled but they take your money as soon as you place the order. They ended up giving me a 20 dollar gift card but it’s not about the money. I am 8 months pregnant and have a two year old so it’s not the most convenient thing to go inside and shop or I would. I called today about an order and was spoken to rudely twice and got hung up on I have been going to this store for years and I refuse to go back. The people I have talked to are rude and I would rather spend my money where people aren’t so nasty.

I've been going here since I was a kid & this place has gone down hill fast. People used to actually Care about this store. Now you're lucky if they have 1 out of 6 items you're looking for. They never restock. Since lock down, they have not been ordering stuff most people need, want & buy. Most of the time, most of the shelves are empty. I have spoken to dozens of people who have said the same thing. The basics are barely restocked. If you actually find something you're looking for, you feel like you hit the lottery. No effort is put into it. Super stop n shop & Shaws don't have that problem...so I don't understand how suppliers or covid could just be effecting this one store. I like most of the employees there & I'd hate to see them lose their jobs... but at this point they might as well shut down if they are not going to order most stuff. You're really lucky if you can get someone at the fish section. & if you wait there, no one will help you find whoever is supposed to be there & give you attitude if you ask. The "fresh" vegetables & fruit have mold on them & are rotten. Especially the onions. I have a ton of pictures of moldy mushrooms, onions, strawberries etc. Actual flies are all around the onion/ potatoes area at times. It's gross. Some of the meats look Grey & sketchy sometimes. No one checks the produce & takes out the old stuff. I go there out of habit & convince... but every single time I do, I leave with not even half of what I was looking for & frustrated. You shouldn't need to have to go to a 2nd store to complete a simple list. I can see them shutting down soon.

Easily the worst grocery store in the Boston area. They’re always out of basic things and what they have is usually rotten. It’s also always dirty and smells bad. I live across the street and happily drive the half mile to the Shaw’s on Hyde Park Ave rather than go here anymore.

They have the most common groceries and household essentials, but the selection is (broadly speaking) of mediocre quality or worse. A wide range of products that I use frequently cannot be found here: numerous fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, herbs, and spices are not stocked at all, and many others have just the wrong combination of quality and price to ensure that I won't waste my money on them. The produce that is present is all clearly grown via extremely intensive agriculture—oversized and underwhelming, very obviously lacking the flavor and nutrients that define quality fruits and veggies. Same issue with the meat—bland and uninteresting, leaving the distinct impression that it came from animals that did not lead happy, healthy lives. The deli counter is an array of mediocrity that does nothing to entice my tastes. Same with the “specialty” cheeses, which are all low-grade versions by mass-produced brands, where even essentials like gruyère and parmigiano and pecorino are nowhere in sight, except perhaps as inferior knockoffs or pre-grated tubs that are inappropriate for good cooking.Everything is overpriced, almost without exception. The low-quality items that comprise the bulk of their selection are indistinguishable from Market Basket in quality but are priced higher. The very scant selection of mid- to high-quality items is consistently priced higher than the same exact items are at Shaw's or Star Market.Organic products are mostly absent from the selection here; the vast majority of products have no organic versions, and the few that do exist are extremely overpriced.The mobile app is consistently inaccurate in reflecting the actual inventory of products that are in stock at the store.The only thing that Stop & Shop has going for it is location. However, the location of Shaw's / Star Market is comparable or better, and those stores generally have marginally superior selection, quality, and pricing. If location is a crucial factor for you (because you don't have a car or you are extremely pressed for time), go to Shaw's; it's not an excellent grocery store, but it dominates Stop & Shop in every way. If you can afford to drive a few miles farther, go to Wegmans; their selection is unparalleled, their prices are competitive, their quality is decent, and their service is superb. I'm honestly not sure what niche Stop & Shop is trying to fill, because it doesn't seem to be particularly good at anything compared to its competitors.

Management should consider sending store employees to diversity, inclusiveness and sensitivity classes.Employees should be taught how NOT to talk down to or never the less in any sort of condescending manner to shoppers that they are helping who are not of their same culture or ethnic backgrounds. Especially, when they are other shoppers waiting in line listening to the cashiers comments along with observing their body language (rolling of eyes)towards shoppers when checking out at the cash register.Cashiers should try to be a bit more courteous, friendly and show good positve vibes . Those are some traits that Stop n Shop cashiers at the Truman Highway location urgently needs.

For spoiled, overpriced produce, this is your store. No produce I've bought here lasts more than 2 days before it spoils. I wonder if S&S is punishing Hyde Park residents or what. I wish this store would be bought and reopened as a Market Basket.The response from owner below does not indicate anyone has checked the freshness of produce at this local store. And it provides a link that doesn't even give you an option to contact them without creating an account first.

This place is convenient to me. If there was viable competition, I would not be going to this Stop and Shop. This is not a covid issue where the hell is lacking. The help has always been lacking. No one ever bags the food and the number of cashiers is absolutely bismal. Cleanliness is mediocre. I prefer to drive to the Star Market in Dedham when I can.

I’ll never go to this stop and shop again. Racial profiling is definitely a problem here. They always treat me like I’m going to steal whether it’s following me in another isle or watching me while I maneuver through the store looking for items. Then once I get to checkout that’s when they back off a little bit but still watch me like my god can’t even shop in peace! It’s sick .

Disgusting store. Obvious lack of care on the corporate level due to its location and disrespect for its cliental. I have never seen a grocery store with such bruised and old produce. Even the flowers are disgusting (yet still over priced). The first sign of disregard is the worst shopping carts I have ever seen, in such disrepair. Always expect to wait in a very long line, on weekends expect to wait 15 minutes to check out. Always a lone on weekdays as well. I didn’t know how privileged I was until I saw the difference in stores across the area. This store has awesome employees, but a terrible corporation that unfairly allocated funds.

Great help from employees. Always so very nice always just a step away for help on the registers. Never have I once felt unwelcome in this store at any time accept for one time. My favorite location within the vicinity of my house period of the raws the location is right around the corner but I avoid it with all of my might . The Truman location is by far the best the employees absolutely rule and are beyond friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be the expire date as I have had to return a few items that were slightly past the expiration date Which is never fun. But whenever I do have to make a return customer services is very helpful. They have the best chicken wings here to

I want to thank this young African young man so much who was working on Monday February 21, 2021 at the dairy department I believe his name is Edson he was very polite and very helpful he took his time to look for this type of yogurt I been looking for, I been everywhere looking for this type of yogurt specially the favor that I eat, May God bless and protect always the young man that help me, I love shopping at this Stop and Shop in Hyde Park it’s nice and clean.

Management's inability to check their employees is sad. The last four times I went there to grab something at the deli, it was closed. ? Today I go there and there are two men standing behind the counter, I ask for help, I'm told very rudely thatt the deli is closed because one is on break and the other is leaving ... ? IT WAS 3:20 IN THE AFTERNOON. .... ????????????Thanks for that disrespect.. I went to a different store.

This place used to be awesome, and while Ill give them points for cleanliness and selection, the staff is abysmal. I'm just happy they added self serve registers, because I'd hate to interrupt the conversations between the cashiers or whatever is going on with their smartphones, because clearly, there's no time for things like customer service or appearing even remotely interested in the job.

Aweful. Been going everyday to try and find toilet paper and pasta. The shelves have been bare every single day for the past two weeks. I understand we are in a unprecedented time but this is still unexceptable. They need to impose more limits on how many items of one thing a person can buy if this is gonna continue to be the outcome every time I go in here. Not only that but, they usually have 1 maybe 2 employees working the registers on any given day at any given time, i don’t know what management does but they definitely don’t try and give any sort of customer service, otherwise they would open up more registers.... Then if you decide to go thru the self checkout lane and experience a problem where you need an employee to clear out the self checkout computer, good luck finding them. They usually are flirting, or talking with other employees, on the cell phone texting, and couldn’t be bothered. Shame on them, your customers were the ones who stood by you when you were picketing for better wages, and stuck by your side by not doing any shopping at the store while you picketed outside... next time they decide to picket I will have no problem crossing the picket line and pissing them off, just so they get a taste of their own medicine. Maybe they need to be out of jobs to realize how rude and inconsiderate they all are.

The cashiers like to keep their lights off, so they can pick and choose when they want to service their customers. This has been an ongoing habit practiced by Stop & Shop employees. They’d rather chit chat with their coworkers than actual work. They are wasting the company’s allocated hours while doing this, they need to have employees in the store that want to serve the public. This is ridiculous while being a manager of my own store. They are here for customer service but do everything but that.
