Who works at the seafood/meat department when they’re against animals as a food source? The guy working today at 3:30pm apparently. I am honestly still dumbfounded that this was a real life interaction.I was trying to buy some steamed lobsters for out of town family today. I know it’s not a typical order so I planned accordingly. I even tried to call ahead to give a heads up but no one picked up. When I got to the counter, I was the only customer and there was only 1 person working. He immediately looked annoyed when I asked about steamed lobster and starts angrily washing the tray. Then I said it’s a larger order, I’m in no hurry and can also come back whenever they’re ready. He looks up at me even more annoyed and asks wait so how many lobsters? Then he absolutely LOSES HIS MIND when I say 7 and starts yelling “seven?! SEVEN?! SEVEN LOBSTERS!????” I feel bad at first because I know it’s more work even if I was literally the only customer around. I acknowledge it’s definitely more than usual, apologize for the extra work but repeat that it’s for visiting family and again absolutely no rush. I can even come back -whatever’s easier. He continues on with his rant. YOU WANT ME TO KILL SEVEN LOBSTERS? HOW COULD YOU ASK ME TO KILL 7 LOBSTERS. I DONT EVEN WANT KILL 1 AND YOU WANT ME TO KILL 7!?!! At this point I’m just scared, say never mind to the order and leave.My dude, you are in the wrong profession.On my way out, I tried to ask another staff member if I could speak to a manager. He was clearly giving me the runaround (he didn’t know where she was/ she was far away/ I would have to wait a long time). I gave up and left. What happened to this location?!

The self-checkout machines at this outlet is horrible. It often does not read the coupons in my account right and I end up paying more than necessary. It does not happen at other outlets.

I just encountered one of the rudest customer service people I've ever witnessed, Andrew, at the self-checkout area. I saw him loudly berating a group of Asian women, who seemed to be confused about whether a particular item was on sale. He yelled at them, "How many times do I have to explain this to you!", and then loudly said to another coworker, "They don't understand American math!", which seemed like quite a racist thing to say as well. He did appear to have a disability, but this is no excuse for that kind of behavior.(Edit: To the customer service rep who replied to this review, I submitted a complaint on the website as well last night and it was responded to. Thank you.)

I'm not sure why Star Market charges up to 50% more for the same exact products?! I just saw the same exact Panera bagels for $3 at stop & shop and I just paid $5 at Star market, I'm pissed off there's no reason for a $2 difference!

They have a great variety of food, groceriesEverything is fresh,I liked the bread and the salad pretty good and fresh always , and the prices really affordable and decent compared to the good quality they have in there productsThe other good thing is the parking lot it’s located right next to market easy to get in and out.Missing a star for the customer service they could do better

Pretty large Star Market considering the location in the city. Ample and free parking available. There is a larger selection than most Star Markets. There is even a Starbucks inside the market. The store was clean and well maintained. Certainly bright and inviting.

Great supermarket! Clean, bright, fresh, full of prepared foods. Great bulk section and a noodle bar, hot bar, poke bowl, sandwich deli, soup bar, salad bar.Would come again for a lunch or for groceries.

This Star Market (Shaw's) location lives mainly because of it's proximity to the university campus of Boston University.. the store used to enjoy 24 hours service but perhaps because of covid it changed it hours to shut down store at an earlier time ( ( maybe 11pm )) .. during certain times the back entrance where the parking is ,is closed and you have to walk around to the front to gain entry. The back door entrance has escalators.. and two flights of stairs that prop the store visually at a distance of the second floor level.. handicap or wheelchair entrance is best reached from the front entrance. . Three stars for this store because it isn't 24 hours anymore.. side note this location has fully functional bakery / deli and I believe has a liquor store cove located nearby bakery.

This is a huge super market where you can get all the stuff you need, however since it’s huge you might experience some difficulties in locating your items of choice.

The store is fine and it's open 24 hours. It isn't fancy but it works and did I mention: it's open 24 hours? You can be the only weirdo shopping at 4 AM and it's fabulous... They won't even point or stare at you... Greatest thing ever. Shop like a professional... nay, shop like a rockstar... 02134, baby!

The lady with a ring in her nose who works in the Deli is very rude and unfriendly. Every time I visit, I feel like I'm wasting her time, and she looks at me as if I'm an enemy. It's clear she doesn't enjoy her job and doesn't want to work there. The other gentleman who works alongside her is always polite and friendly. However, she leaves an extremely negative impression of the store

Overpriced wilted saggy soggy produce. I've attached a few photos of actual items for sale in the produce section, today. The last image is of a petri dish of a mop, hidden right next to other actual merchandise which is supposed to pass for edible. Pft. Everything here costs at least 40 cents more than every other grocery store I frequent.Update, 3 years later:I've got over 300k views on that photo of the nasty mop draining onto the produce and no comment from Star Market... do all those nice pictures of decorative baked goods.

I asked if I could cash a check and the employee said “it’s not open yet, it’ll be open sometime after noon”. What’s the point of a service if customers A can’t count on it being open and B you don’t even have scheduled hours for it?? Pay your employees more and hire more people, this is unacceptable

I typically stop by here after exercising and after all the renovations they've done I must say that this place is quite nice to shop in. Everything is well organized and well maintained. There's an organics section now which is new. Overall everything has a more "premium" air about it. Also it's nice not having to worry about having a loyalty card to get the special discounts. Parking is ample in the private lot out back and from what I've seen they have a little luggage shuttling system thingy (think airport) to bring groceries down below so you can pull up to it in your car and load everything in. (Dunno if it's still operational though since I've never used it).Also I'm a bit bummed that they completely got rid of the self checkout area (though in hindsight there was always something wrong with at least ONE of the areas leading to a massive bottleneck).

The grocery store is a standard grocery store (they even have a kosher bakery which is pretty nice), but don't bother doing groceries for pick-up if you absolutely need specific items. Even when you choose substitutions, the person choosing your groceries will consistently only grab one of something in produce/dairy even if you ask for multiple, or state that there were no substitutions.I've gone into the store myself after picking up my groceries, and easily found the number of items I wanted, or the specific brand and size. How can you not find 2 of the same apple? This store is severely understaffed because they don't pay enough (even the staff there say this!), so I can't tell if the personal shopping is 1. Understaffed and they're trying to rush as fast as possible, or 2. It's people who really don't care and will just grab anything just to finish the task.If you need specific items for a recipe, you're trying to clip/redeem online coupons with it, don't bother. You end up losing the points because of the person not getting the correct things for you.

Kim is a fantastic human being and makes every visit to Star Market something to look forward to. I hope you do everything you can to keep him happy as he adds a much needed positive dimension to each of our visits to your store!

I like stocking up at this star market because they have a lot of Latino goods... Albeit hard to find. Good bargains if you have a "free" membership, and at this one they will "send down" big orders to a pickup bay so you can pull up with your car and not have to carry a lot all of the way to the parking lot- yes there is a lot dedicated to this store behind it! :) Always helpful staff.

Purchased ocean perch fish fillet from this store yesterday. The fish fillet has overpowering ammonia tastes when I cook it today. The manager refused to issue the refund because I already threw the cooked fillet away. The manager showed no empathy at all, instead she was pretty jerky and unfriendly and seems to be a racist. Don't buy seafood from them!

Huge store! Has everything you need, most of the time. The location is great - hop off the T on the way home or walk from your Allston apartment. They have strange shortages on occasion, though - completely out of eggs last time I visited. Still worth a trip!

This is one confusingly set up store. It's huge and you will wander around for awhile tryna find everything butThus place is always clean they offer all types of foods for you to prepare at home.They have a fresh seafood dept a deli a hot and cold bar a bakery a public restroom self check out and there's an escalator as well as an elevator that leads you to the back parking lot.This location used to be open 24hrs im not sure if they still over this option

I got food poisoning from the food they made and it was not fun. Also I have eaten food that was clearly cross contaminated due to the fact my throat closed and I had to get rushed to the ER. Do not go here.

The employees are friendly which helps this business.Because the employees at Brookline are kind of arrogant, not all of them, but I saw a few situations and I felt racism at the side of the manager at Brookline, just because I have an accent and I'm white European, lol.That's why i recommend this place

Nice store even if bit small. Is a spinoff of Safeway /Albertsons so price are higher overall. Just get what you need and get out. Not many sale items when I went in 2 times.

Honestly the best “regular” grocery store in my area. I came from out of state so this closely resembles the standard options back home. It’s clean and reliable, prices are decent, and I highly recommend getting the app to “clip deals” (virtual coupons) to help save a lil money where you can and to rack up rewards points
