My favorite grooming place to bring my dog! Pluto (5lbs with severe anxiety) is not an easy customer despite his small size. Without fail, Onyva’s groomers are able to give him a beautiful & even haircut every time! Their compassion and professionalism is evident in each interaction we have had. Highly recommend!!

The team at Onyva are lovely and flexible, happy to accommodate anxious doges and fashionably late appointment time arrivals. 4/5 Stars driven solely by the price the charge relative to alternative groomers in the Boston and Cambridge areas, where you can find the same same/better quality of service for 50-75% of the price.Perhaps it's breed specific, I have an Aussie who's needs are different than a doodle for example, but I likely will not return to Onyva simply due to unnecessarily high cost. My baby Bella had a bad experience at Petco, now grooming for her gives her anxiety and she can get somewhat aggressive. Alexis has had so much patience with her and has never given up on her. Every time she goes for grooming more and more is accomplished. I love this place and more so Alexis. I will not take away from any other groomers that have dealt with her in the past because they’ve also been great with her. The place overall, including staffing is a warm and wonderful place. I walk out of there knowing my Bella is in good hands. Thank you for existing ONYVA!

Truffles had a vet check up shortly after being groomed. As she put it, “those are the most comically symmetrical front legs I have ever seen on a dog!” Can’t say enough good things about the care he receives there.

We love Onyva! You know it's different as soon as you walk in and notice how clean it is and that it actually smells great. I use to have such anxiety leaving my best friend at the groomers but no longer, they do an exceptional grooming in a comfortable setting, so glad we found this gem of a place ❤️ It is pricey but worth it!!

Update: brought Jojo here again today and the difference is amazing ! Jojo used to be absolutely terrified of the groomers after he was left in a room in a crate all day and then had a nail cut too far up damaging his quick. I really struggled with finding a new groomers who I felt like I could trust. After 3 visits to onyva his anxiety is getting better and he even let them clip his nails today something I never thought would be able to happen again. So thankful for their patience and extra level of care given to him and Jojo looks so handsome.I have brought my dog Jojo here twice now and I’m so happy with the results. Jojo had a terrible experience at another grooming salon and I was so nervous to have him professionally groomed again. They have been so kind to him here and he has come out of his appointments so happy and looking fabulous. Love that dogs aren’t sitting around all day waiting to be groomed ! So happy to have found it.

My original review would have been 1 star, but this place does take feedback and uses it tobetter serve its customers. I took my 2 Siberian huskies here and how do I say this nicely…was less than impressed with the quality of the their grooming. Huskies are notorious shedders, and it was clear that the groomers did not know how to handle the volume of fur, or they were not allocated enough time in their schedule to do a proper job. I voiced my disappointed and was contacted by management that I could bring my dogs back in free of charge to complete the groom properly. On round two, they did a great job with the grooming. I hope this business continues to grow/adapt to serve its customers, and if they do it will be successful in the long run.

This place is great, very clean! Carly is amazing. I have a long coat German Shepherd, who sheds a lot, they do an amazing job with her baths. She is a sensitive to the blow dryer and they make her feel safe, welcome and relaxed. Their online portal is super user friendly, it is effortlessly to book appoints. Everyone is very patient, very attentive and all around amazing. Here some post bath pics, fluff all around.Highly recommend!!!

Update: the owner/management takes feedback seriously and makes an effort when it comes to customer satisfaction. Within a day of me leaving the 3 star review, the owner reached out and asked how she could make things right, explained their policies, and agreed to work to accommodate my dog’s needs in the future. We ended up gong back last week and they did a great job. My dog did not want to leave the salon after her bath. We did not need the anal glad expression this time because we went to her vet the week before. The owner did not ask me to update/take down the old review, which I really appreciate.Previous review: They always do a nice job getting my dog clean, but she’s not always totally dry when I pick her up. They also refuse to express anal glands, which is something my dog really needs. I was planning to make an appointment for my dog for next week and asked about anal gland expression, which I was told they do not offer. I think they are way too expensive to refuse to offer that basic service.

Quality grooming and bath service in a clean environment.I was struggling to find an availability for grooming at other stores for a few days as none of them had open spots for a month. There was apparently a groomer shortage around the city, but ONYVA had open spots available on the same day. Before making an appointment, I had to make an account online which required uploading vaccination documents for my dog, but it was fairly easy. However, making an appointment for grooming online was a bit confusing as they didn’t have a grooming option. They eventually took care of everything via a phone call, and it ended up taking two full Boston Bath sessions for a full grooming. It was definitely much more expensive than the stores that I used to go, but we were satisfied with the overall result.

Onyva Services are off the charts! I have two ~vocal~ Pomskis who mean the world to me but have given every groomer a run for their money. Within a couple hours both double coated dogs go from wild looking to looking like show dogs with only the staff at Onyva to credit. They are knowledgeable, kind and so understanding. VERY DISAPPOINTED!! My dog came out horrible after they spend half-hour extra (that you have to pay of course)from the time that they said that it takes .They didn't warn me about it, they just said " come back in half-hour". I thought that it was an"special stile" that I didn't ask for as well....Also it surprised me so much that if you know about dogs is really bad to cut off their eye lashes and it was exactly what it happened to my Lulu.

Very friendly staff that take great care of my dog when he’s here. He loves coming to Onyva. Would recommend the puppy package, it helped my puppy get used to all the tools and noises that are part of a bath and cut.

The groomers are amazing at taking care of fearful dogs, making them completely comfortable and even happy to return! That was my main concern, but I was happy to see they do a fantastic job with the grooming also!

I got my dog groomed at Onyva and they severely cut my dog. Worst they didn’t even tell us about it!!! She has been in significant discomfort and it is clearly hurting her. This was her second grooming here. She was terrified to enter the salon (very different than her people-loving self). I thought this was weird but wrote it off. Now I know why!! I will NEVER be coming back to this grooming salon. Please check your dog for cuts!!! Now I need to bring her to the vet over the weekend to get it checked out.Edit: Cut has gotten significantly worse. So far vet thinks is not infected. Provided me ointment to help the healing. Cost me an additional $130!

Tried Onyva twice with my 50 pound goldendoodle which must be a common breed in Boston. The first time he came home with a lot of matting under his coat. After calling and explaining the situation/sending pictures they provided a partial refund and assured us this would not happen again. I decided to give them another chance and the second time he came home with albeit less matting but matting behind his ears. They shaved other mats out but left him with small cuts / knicks on his skin. I must note he looked awesome at first glance both times and everyone in there is extremely nice, but the main reason we frequently groom is to avoid and prevent matting. For being one of the most expensive groomers in the city, they seem to be inexperienced. They also barely cut his hair and explained I signed up for a "profile trim". They didn't clip his nails either time as well. I suspect this was the result of me missing something in the online booking process for services, which is admittedly confusing. Overall, a disappointing and confusing experience both times for the amount they are charging. We just wanted what we had assumed was a normal full groom and cut..

We had a wonderful experience at ONYVA! The staff was so kind and thoughtful. They took the time to ensure my pup had a great time and that he left with a terrific haircut. He was really happy and very well groomed. Will be recommending this spot to anyone and everyone I know :) Thanks again all!

I’ve been here a few times already and I love it! Everyone from front desk to the groomers are incredible. In the past, I’d usually run quick errands while my dog is getting groomed. But it’s so warm and welcoming here, that I end up just wanting to stay and chat with staff or other waiting pet parents. My dog is easily nervous and the groomers go out of their way to make her feel relaxed and comfortable. Highly recommend if you’re a new pet parent or looking for a new spot.

Dropped my two dogs off understanding it's $150 per dog. Picked them up only to be told "each dog will cost an extra $50 because they're cockapoo/havapoo coats are more difficult." Mind you, both my dogs are under 14 lbs and they knew what breed they were when I dropped them off. It's not that hard. I felt tricked and deceived into paying more. Not a good feeling. Won't be going there again. Groom was good, but not $440 good (+tip).

The place is super nice. NGL, I would have given it 5 🌟 if they give a 'set price with fur wash and trims included'. They've got cool stuff for you and the puppy/dog, too. Lil pricey for me after paying and tipping. They have "snax," like stuff you find in Marshall or TJMaxx food isles but FREE, so 🤷 process that how you want. I keep going back, so they are doing something right ✅️ . GO GET DA DOG DONE!

Such a great experience! My pup has never been to a groomer before, he has short hair and doesn't require any special treatments, but I heard so many great things about this place and I thought, why not, let's give this thing a try. And I am so happy I did!I was a bit worried how it would go since Fleetwood is about 6 years old already and not used to being handled by groomers, but it went great. His groomer Juan was so kind and patient, holding him and reassuring him, and after about 45 minutes Fleetwood came back smelling great, with a shiny coat, he even let them handle his nails.Everyone is so nice and you can really see and feel they really love the animals and what they do. There is a cute little area where you can wait, have coffee, or just take a stroll down Newbury Street. They will send you an email and a text when your pup is ready to be picked up.If you are thinking about trying something new, treating your pup to something special, don't hesitate. Seriously, you won't regret it. It's been almost a week and Fleetwood is still shiny and the best thing, he is not shedding at all! Plus, the prices are affordable and they are not trying to rip you off with unlimited add-ons. I cannot wait to go back!

I hate to leave a bad review, but the quality of their work does not match the high price point.I sent my bichon mix for a full groom, told the girl at the front desk that he had some mats in his ears and that I needed his peri area cleaned up because he’s being fixed next week.Went I got him home I realized that the mats were almost worse than before and they did clean up his under area at all. I called them back and the girl answering the phone was incredibly apologetic stating that the owner would be in touch.I have yet to be contacted by the owner, and sadly I will not be returning. They charged me $200 for a full groom that I probably could’ve gotten at a petco.

Onyva is so great! They do a gorgeous job with my nervous pup and the staff are so sweet and personable. The space is gorgeous and they offer coffee and snacks, plus it smells incredible which is so unusual for a pet salon! In my opinion it’s worth the price because they take their time and make sure they are doing a good job and the pups are feeling safe and cared for. So glad they are on newbury!

Edit: I’m honestly so disappointed I have to change this review. The staff is always very friendly. But we have had not so great experiences the past few times we have been in and while the quality goes down, the price goes up.We always get the Onyva bath which on their website says it includes sanitary trims- however two of their employees today tried to charge extra on top of an already steep service. (Which he was taken 45 minutes past his scheduled appointment time) I understand, working in a similar industry these things happen- but I was not offered any sort of apology or accommodation for the inconvenience.The price of this service has gone up over 40% in the last two years- and now on top of that increase, I’m supposed to pay for trim even though it’s included in the bath I selected?Your team needs to be on the same page.I don’t think we will be returning to this dog spa.Previous review: I could have sworn I already wrote a review on here. My dog Gerald is a very nervous boy and I appreciate the care they put into making him feel comfortable. I groomed him at home myself for years because of how nervous he was. They do a way better job than me! Lol. Really glad to have found this place for my double coated sheltie baby.

Brought my dog Harley here for a trim, bath, and blowout. It was a wonderful experience from the moment we walked in. Everybody was super friendly and I felt comfortable leaving her there knowing she was in good hands. The staff is very educated about how to properly take care of your dogs specific coat. She left smelling amazing!

Where to start?The idea that dematting a doodle coat is somehow kinder than shaving the mats out? That forcing a dog to be Hv dried is kinder than other methods? Or perhaps the using of ‘science’ to avoid costly vet visits?This place hasn’t a clue. The grooms look like they are done by students and frankly safety seems to be ignored. The bashing of experienced professionals is unreal.I would urge owners to research their groomers and check for qualifications and experience.
