First off, we are all familiar with a Family Dollar store. This particular location is convenient for me because of being in the Roslindale village area. I go here for all sorts of general needs for household goods.They have good prices on laundry detergent, random hardware items and grocery items. I am very particular about what I buy to eat and there's only a few items I buy from the grocery section. However, it's a good store and I always compare prices from a couple stores to get the best deal. Especially in this economy!

I went here yesterday to reload a prepaid debit card that Ipurchased from family dollar last year which I used to pay my bills. I asked the male cashier at register 3, if I could reload my card. The cashier told me "oh well my manager said we can't do that anymore". I said "excuse me, why can't you reload this card, when clearly family dollar sells these cards" they had a whole bunch of prepaid debit cards for sale at the registers. Then I said "how are you selling these cards to customers, and you can't load them". Then he said " my manager changed the policy on reloading the prepaid debit cards. I know that's a lie, because I've reloaded my card at other family dollars. I will be contacting the corporate office , and the City Of Boston about this location. Because that's false advertising, and you can't offer a product and not complete a service to activate the product which is reloading prepaid debit cards which they sell and advertise which stores etc you can go too. Family dollars is a participating partner with these companies and their refusing to assist customers with items sold at there stores. What makes it worst is this is the first time I've been put the house in 30+ days since knee surgery in March.

Online it says the store closed at 9pm! This is the third time I arrived at the store at 8:30pm and the doors are locked! The young guy with a ponytail said “ THE MANAGER SAID ITS OKAY TO CLOSE EARLY”Manager: If you want to close the store early please update the store hours online and outside the store.

The manager here is so rude and inconsiderate. I arrived at 8:08am, the store opens at 8am. The manger is going to tell me to come back at 9am because he isn’t ready yet. I explained to him I called and it says the store opens at 8am. I drove all the way to this store to be here when it opens, only for the manager to be extremely rude and not even open the store. If I could I would give this store and really the manager zero stars.

Good deals little under staff but seem to make do but staff is always friendly and helpful a lot of variety from clothes, house hold appliances, some vehicle appliances, food and drinks and more. Needs to update store hours online.

Just asking, but is this place really a dollar store???Went in here twice, and once charged $5 dollars for a very low priced item.Second visit, the price for a different item went up to almost $8 dollars.I guess, this place's economical mathematics, is simply calculated differently. 🤨👎👎👎

This is a quick stop hit or miss store. I don't go here very often in the year for this reason because you are more likely to miss than hit. I would not recommend this store if your badly in need of something in particular. I would say for passing time take a stop in and walk around, you'll probably pass on what you see or pickup some sort of nick-nack. I went in for a particular item for my bathrooms (I have purchased at this store before) but it was not there or out of stock. The cashier was not friendly and I felt bad for the one gentlemen stocking alone. It seem as though there was only these two staff in the store besides the few customers.

I go to this family dollar store frequently and something that I realize is that they don’t have a heater!!! People that store work wearing a jacket or sweaters!! How is that possible?! They will get sick... I guess this are difficult times to find a new job but I feel bad for all of them... I hope they change that... I was waiting like 2 moths already but since they didn’t change it I decided to give the first step. You guys should take more care of your employees.

I'm an older woman and I took an Uber to the store at 8pm it was already closed at 8pm instead if 10pm I'm passed because they're just sitting there doing nothing and getting paid to do it!! NOTHING!!!!

They are supposed to be open until 10 pm yet I went there at 9:15 3 days in a row and the doors were locked and they closed at 9. Wasted money for traveling there. However the workers are nice enough which is why I'm giving it 3 stars

The manager was completely rude to me and call the cops on me. I take transportation and I have a small child with autism. I use a push cart, the guy was rude and accusing me of stealing. He proceeded to ask me more questions and told me get a basket like normal people. I felt completely uncomfortable. I use my push cart so I’m not over shopping, I would like to get Just enough things. Mind you I wasn’t even going through out the store I was in the front with the Halloween decor. This situation was stressing me and my son out. I felt so embarrassed, I lived here 5 years I’ve never had a problem! As well for him to call the cops and argue with other customers for assisting me was out of hand! I waited and talk with the police officer! I don’t wanna say it racist but, I felt offended and refused to shop at this location. Btw I ask for a telephone number he gave me the wrong one .

I just went there around 9 pm and it was closed few people tried to go in but the door was closed, this happens a lot. I live around here and i go there frequently but I'm getting tired of finding the doors closed.

I love, love, love this place. Their prices are lower than other Family Dollars around. The employees are helpful respectful and curtious. I grew up in Roslindale in the 70s and living in the area itself has always been a treat. Perfect to raise a family and take care of that family on a budget too. They may not ever have bags, but that's o.k. they have much, much more, kindness. They relate to the people. They run out of bags because so many people shop there instead of other places😀😀😀

Family dollar in roslindale was great. Past few times items had expired told manager. Thought he would go over and check. Never did. Never had that problem in west roxbury

Not clean one bit. Very disorganized and the management doesn't seem to care. All family dollars are like this in Boston. Very sad and not good customer service at all. I once went to go check out and the manager was on his cell while ringng everyone up .

Cheap but disorganized. Unfriendly workers, always out of bags..they give you big black trash bags. Unclean, always boxes in the isles. Floors are disgusting.
