Colin was so helpful this evening! I came in not knowing exactly what I was looking for, and he found the perfect screw and nut for what I needed. He was very helpful, and had a great attitude even though he said his day was tough due to other customers. Thank you Colin!

I really love this place especially for plants! They are super close to a plant store and sells very nice house plants for $9.99 if not discounted at the time. I went and got a pretty plant and Philipp helped and was super nice and understanding

I have never experienced this level of rudeness in my life. The cashier, Kristen, insulted me, cursed at me and told me to “move on” literally bringing me to tears, apparently she’s a manager. Luckily the only person with decent customer service skills help me wrap my belongings. Kristen told me her General manger would be ruder than her and have less compassion, which I didn’t believe until I attempted to reach out this morning and the General manager hung the phone up in my face because he didn’t have time for it. I’m so hurt and shocked by this situation. If you do anything please just go to Lowe’s or Home depot these are just really mean people.

Have come to this store for a while and had good experiences but recently went in to get a drill bit and asked one of the employees near the gardening section which kind of drill bit I would need for the item I had bought there previously the employee was super rude and kept trying to argue that you can’t use a drill for the project. I didn’t ask him this I just asked for help getting a drill bit and could’ve gone without the condescending attitude.

This place has everything! A true lifesaver for college move-in, from necessities to miscellaneous odds and odds to plants and decorations. Service is fantastic, prices very fair.

Great local hardware store. There is a good amount of traditional hardware products. There are novelty items you don't realize you need until you see it. There are some pretty helpful folks working here.

I just had an absolutely insane interaction at this store. I asked if they carried pocket knives/ multitools which they didn’t, so I asked if I could borrow a pair of scissors to cut a piece of moleskin ( I was walking around the city and getting a blister, just needed for quite literally one second). The guy at the counter (redhead guy if management is reading this) proceeded to give me the hardest time, insinuated that I was from somewhere undesirable, and then when I commented on his rudeness he then went on to name call and make personally offensive statements. Truly disgusting behavior.

I have been in this store almost every day this week. I am giving it a 5-star rating, not because it is perfect, but because it deserves a top rating for the kind of store it is. I am a home improvement enthusiast and find this store has not only the things I need for that endeavor but also a lot of homey items that are important to find in this neighborhood. Many of the staff are incredible, and some of the staff is not terribly friendly, but these days, who can blame them.

Beware of buying any of their products. Many of their merchandise are defective and that is why they have a no return policy (less than 7 days for in store credit only). I bought a heater which did not work (no power at all), and a power cord which stopped working shortly after. Their products are over price and they make a profit off of selling used and repackaged items that should not be sold. The heater I purchased is a small one you place by your feet which would cost $10-20 anywhere else, but was $50 here.

I've had several keys copied by the locksmith (on separate occasions) and I estimate that at most 1/5 has worked. At least they gave me my money back. The store is alright, but I'd avoid going to their locksmith.

They sell the lousiest products at the highest price you could possibly imagine. This should be some kinda dollar store, anything in the store doesn't look or feel like above 10 bucks. If you have a discerning insight, you will know what I mean. Go AMAZON or elsewhere and save your time, emotion and money.

I have never experienced worse customer service. I came into this store today at 9 am, coughing because I have seasonal allergies. I walked around the store thinking of purchasing a few items before I noticed that the cashier was staring at me. However, I shrugged this off because I assumed she was ensuring I didn’t steal anything. When I walked up to the counter to pay, the cashier looked me up and down and judged me and told me to stand away from the counter because I am “sick.” Though I am wearing a surgical mask properly, I easily complied. I myself have worked retail during the pandemic and understand her concern. However, throughout the entire exchange, this cashier was unacceptably rude and unkind to me. She constantly gave me bad looks and wouldn’t answer my questions. She wouldn’t even take the receipt from the printer. I used to enjoy coming to this store but will not be coming here anymore. I’ll be sure to tell everyone I know of this experience.

Come here if you want inferior products that will break after 6 months of normal use for a ridiculously high price, justified by a nationwide brand advertising themselves as "local." Not to mention bored, unhelpful staff. No reason to go here instead of Amazon unless you can't wait 24 hours for what you need, and Amazon at least replaces faulty products.

On May 17, 2021, I purchased a Windowsill Greenhouse at Economy Hardware. I opened the package on May 19th and discovered one of the jiffy strip pots was missing.I called the store to report the missing item and hopefully get the issue resolved. The employee I spoke with said she did not know about the item I purchased and told me to "hold on for the manager." I was on hold for 10 minutes before I hung up. I called back 15 minutes later and was told by the same employee that it was just her and the manager working and she did not have time to deal with me and my issues.I was insulted and appalled by this response. I have lived in this neighborhood for over 25 years, and I shop at Economy Hardware intentionally to support local small businesses instead of big chain hardware stores.I spoke with Mike, the manager, who resolved the issue by saying I could stop by and pick up the missing item. I shared with Mike the rudeness his employee subjected me to. He confirmed he indeed said they did not have time to deal with my issue. While I clearly understand being busy, there is a professional and courteous way to communicate that without being rude to a loyal customer.

Would be a great store. Employees vary from helpful to downright rude and arrogant. Had a college student with a beard and face covering serve me with such disdain and nastiness that I’ll use Amazon (which is wasteful) instead. Manager plz talk to your employee- white someway at bulky male with a bad attitude who served me at 11:20 am April 3.

Fair prices for the location and a locally owned business. Obviously it would be cheaper to order online but you are paying for the convenience of being able to pick up what you need for a project immediately in the middle of Boston. There’s a reason Amazon is so cheap. As for the staff (I have seen several complaints on here), I’ve always been nice to them, and in return they’ve always been helpful to me.

They always have a great selection of products here. I came to get a folding chair yesterday, and not only did they have your normal wooden ones, but they had a nice padded sort of armchair one that I really liked, too. I have been coming here for years for this reason. They also have very knowledgeable, helpful employees.

I never have a good experience when I go in this store. The staff is so disengaged. It's so apparent that none of them care, want to be there, or have any concern invested in their jobs. The only reason I shop there is because it fills a need. I'd rather spend my money elsewhere.

They don't have a big selection of anything and the employees have no idea about any of the stuff they have in there. They were no help poor attitudes as well if I could give if I could give less then one star I would.

In the last 19 year, I've been to this store, on average, once every 2 months; I buy things for work and for home. The floor clerks are great, and are always asking to help you. The merchandise is good, sometimes not great quality (as stated by others, caters to mainly college students). Sometimes the cashiers are spacey, but that's the worst I can say about them.They have a fair amount of unfinished furniture, which sometimes seems overpriced for the quality. Best bet is, some time near the beginning of a college semester, get one of the college discount books and find the coupon that gives you 10 or 15% off an entire purchase at this store.

It's a moderately sized urban hardware store. Prices aren't great but they're not gouging either, merely fair. Only a few blocks from the green line, which is a plus.A few more kitchen gadgets and fewer power tools than I'd expect, but otherwise run-of-the-mill. Staff seemed friendly enough but I didn't need any help so I can't comment on their expertise.In short, it's fine.

Employee called me a douchbag under his breath! This hardware store is near my house and generally has everything I want, so I want to like it. However, their staff is consistently terrible. There are definitely a few quality employees but there are always two or three rude, dismissive people working there. I almost always have some bad experience, typically involving eye rolling. Yesterday topped the list. While showing me to an isle, a employee in his twenties with red hair a beard and a husky build called me a douchbag under his breath. Unreal.

It's really an economy true value shop, they have products and furniture for kitchen, bathroom, living room and bedroom. You can find all the necessary repair tools and equipment. The shop is well maintained and has a good interactive staff. Few stuffs I think are expensive if you compare it online. You can also get painting and furniture repairing products that includes paint brush, roller , tray , glue etc. You can also get comforters , window blinds , hooks , hangers , chairs, tables, storage racks. Garbage bins. They also sell boxes.

Relatively bad selection - very little hardware or home improvement products. Basic things like keys and spray paint are good here, though.The main thing, however, is that that guy with the bushy beard is always really rude for no reason and seems kinda mad all the time. I stopped going in when I see him behind the counter. I hope he's okay.

Convenient because it’s the only hardware store in the area. But it’s super expensive (even for Boston) and I have yet to have a good experience with the staff. Seriously, I think it’s a requirement to be unnecessarily rude to work there. I avoid it when I can

I went to get a key made, as I only had one. The sales associate could not find a match and gave me back what I thought was my key. I went to open my mailbox the next day and realized they had given me back a blank key. After I called and got terrible customer service, the man told me I would have to come in the store and look for myself, I went back to the store to retrieve my key. They could not find it and were extremely unsympathetic and rude. Now I'm left with no key and have to pay a landlord fee to get a new one due to Economy True Value's negligence.

If you enjoy wondering lost around a store while the huge staff of employees completely ignore you then I recommend losing time here. Or if you feel your life is lacking some 22 year old gossip then they can happily accommodate you. If you need anything of actual use then please steer clear.

ok so i've been here multiple times and the prices are ok home depot is cheaper i come because its convenient and closer then south bay mall. But the really funny thing is the customer service is way better, in my experience at home depot. I have managed retail stores in the past and the things that bother me most is lazy or careless employees. like i said previously i visit there location 20+ times a year. I might have been greeted once and helped only if i asked for help. don't get me wrong sometimes they have good service just not when i show up. So be aware the staff won't help unless you ask them. they look like college students so i'm sure there trying to finish the shift and get out!
