All the veterinarians are extremely knowledgeable and kind. It is a busy & popular place, so there is usually a wait of 5 to 10 extra minutes over appointment time. 100% worth it... if your animals are members of your family, then Mill Valley Veterinary Clinic is a good match. We found they provide high-quality care without the big city veterinary prices.

Had to take my pup back because he was lethargic and not eating and acting odd. Had a high temp and they had to put him in a cool bath. I was freaking out but everyone was so nice to me, and took great care of him. When they took him in the back I knew he would be loved on and taken care of. The tech said even though they were working on him and putting needles in him he would give her kisses. To me that says it all. Oh and he is 100% better 2 weeks later.

I just love this place. Dr. Purdy has been unbelievable. He is the most caring doctor that I have ever met. He has been treating my dog jack and has been listening to me like no other doctor that I have ever had. I can’t say enough about him. Great doctor!

We switched here after having horrible experiences with our previous vet. The first thing that stood out to us was that my older girl, Chara, not only liked 90% of the staff (however only the women, but shes a girls girl, i put no fault on the men for my little misandrist of a dog), but she absolutely adores one of the vet techs, I'm horrible with names, I think her name is Megan, but everytime Chara sees her she lights up, and tries to snuggle up and kiss her. This dog has never once met any veterinary staff she likes, so this is absolutely massive to us.They work with the dogs, as opposed to forcing them to cooperate. They also make sure the waiting room isn't packed when you're entering the building, which does mean longer what times, but for less direct contact to germs and less chance for Chara to be stressed by foreign dogs, I'm more than happy to wait.Another massive plus is that they actually listen. I'll be the first to admit I'm very stressed about my dogs well being, and I believe heavily in the see something say something idea of care. I'd rather spend extra money in making sure any issues are caught early on as opposed to waiting until I'm 100% certain something is wrong, as I've seen how horribly this can go. My previous vets used this as a way to constantly dismiss me and disregard my concerns, which nearly led to my boy dying. These guys listen, and discuss what needs to be done. They don't speak to me like I'm stupid for having concerns, even though I'm sure I seem pretty foolish sometimes. So far, they've always been very nice and extremely helpful (however, we also have not had any major incidents with them yet, the biggest being a mild limp in our hyperactive puppy, who literally just needed to chill out)I've also never had to wait more than a handful of days for an appointment, which is super impressive in my opinion, as they always seem pretty busy.

Even good girls like going to see the vet here :)(These pics are almost exactly 4 years apart!)Very nice people! Great service, fairly standard price scale, but they have a nice facility overall, and treat all their furry patients with kindness and don't try to sell you all sorts of stuff you don't need, been going there for 12 plus years with all my animals and they all have had great experience too!

Very knowledgeable and caring staff .They were able to diagnose my goat,I drove 4 hrs to see Dr schmidt since no one in my area was able.She and her staff were fantastic .

I absolutely love this practice. With my animals I have gone to a wide variety of vets across western and Central MA, but Mill Valley is by far my favorite.I learned about them last year from a dog trainer friend of mine, took my service dog for his first appointment there was was treated with so much compassion and understanding. Both of the vets that I have had experience with there have made sure that everything was explained, and took the time to belay my fears when he came up as lyme positive.Today, in addition to our dogs' yearly vaccines and HW testing, I had a concern I had about my dog's spine. I keep him fit as he is a working dog, and thought something was irregular as his spine has always been easily palpable. When I didn't hear anything as the doctor was checking in with me over the phone, I brought it up again with the tech just to be sure, who ran him back in to be double checked.No roaching, no misaligned vertebrae, I was just feeling the differences between the thoracic and lumbar spine. Load off of my mind, and the vet told me the vet thought it was cool I had picked up on it.

I have been using this veterinary business for many years. They are reasonable as far as prices and will not push you into unnecessary treatments for your pet. They are very knowledgeable and professional. They are both a small and large veterinary business. I would not go anywhere else.

I believe I have been with Mill Valley Vet Clinic for over 40 years. I have horses, dogs, cats, goats, and sheep. My animals get amazing care from all the veterinarians at Mill Valley. I have a wide range of odd problems at times with the diversity of my herd. I am treated with respect, timeliness, and accuracy. I love this practice and so do my dozens of 4 legged babies.

I have been a customer at Mill valley for over 10 years. I originally started coming here because  I adopted a dog and the former owner had used the clinic.  At the time the clinic was a bit more expensive than others, but the quality of service was great so I continued to visit.   Over the years the quality of service has declined considerably. I don't know if they have less staff or took on too many customers but no longer do I receive vaccination reminders in the mail,  the staff don't bother to mention them when in direct contact with them,  and they do nothing to go above and beyond to assist.After years of declining quality of service my most recent experience has assured I will not bring any future pets back here.  In 2021 after several years of reoccurring ear infections my dog is no longer helped by general antibiotics which led to cultures and testing to be done which can be somewhat pricey but hoping it would provide relief it seemed the necessary route.  After spending hundreds of dollars ( and thousands of the course of her life time) the culture was done , we medicated the ear and  for the year it was better.  Here we are in 2022 , I call and ask for the prescription to filled in informed they don't carry it on site and my dog would need to see a vet prior the medication being prescribed.  I agreed to the visit but asked they order the medication now.. again I was told they would not order it until the vet had seen my dog which they couldn't do for nearly a week.  I let them know this was completely unacceptable and ask the vet review it.  At which time I was told I would receive a call back by the vet in 48 hrs, but instead I received a call from the front desk again saying the same thing,  but this time they had an appointment open today.   My dog is seen by the vet , her file is not checked,  I was told I was right about the infection,  and a medication is prescribed.. again a general antibiotic that does nothing to help.  Assuming the vet knew what they were prescribing I proceeded giving it to my dog pointlessly for over a week while her ear continued to get worse.  So again I call and ask for something to be done again they say they need to speak with the vet they should call me back by the close of business or in the morning... here we are over 24 hrs later without a call back.Sorry this is a long story, but the point is the clinic is a shell of what it once was.  There may be a few people that care but they aren't doing enough to make up for those who are either overtired or just simply inept.Edit: I did finally get a call back from someone at the front desk the following day after almost 48 hrs asking what medication I wanted and stating they would fill it. Really do hope that the declining service is just a short term issue caused by covid and that going forward the clinic returns to the level of service I once knew and trusted my animals lives with.

The staff are caring and excellence in diagnostics is a priority at Mill Valley Vet. My dogs have been saved on several occasions. We are grateful. We have had years of cradle to grave dog care provided there, and much timely routine and emergency advice given. We trust every person on the staff. It is a long drive for us to go there, but the medical care our dogs get is worth it.
