The doctor(s) and staff are thorough and compassionate -- and everything was explained to me clearly and calmly, which is impressive. Excellent diagnosing -- we're well on our way. I am a helluva satisfied new customer.

I really like the nurses at this hospital. They are super nice and take really good care of your pets. The doctor I had was good with my dog too. However she is not so good with people. She was very rude to me ever after a made a bad joke because I didn't want to get my dogs bloodwork done. The minute she came in the room she attacked me about giving my dog too much prozac when she mistakenly did the math wrong which she told me is "only suppose to be .5 to 1 mg per pound." I have a 45 pound beagle foxhound mix and another doctor there told me it was ok to give him 40mg a day. But we all know doctors can be quite rude . . .

Owner was very rude and knows exactly what you should get, even if you don’t want it. If you want to get pushed into doing things to your dog that you don’t want done then this is the place to go. If I could give a one star rating I would. Don’t forget their $40 hidden fee for their for their “check up” to make sure they can administer their shots which by the way was literally a 30 second scan of the dog. I’m sure they will have something to say about that too. No thanks I’ll be sure to go elsewhere for myself and everyone that I know.

There are several negative reviews of this place. Listen to them and take heed to what people are saying! We can’t all be wrong in our experiences with this unprofessional, rude doctor.I had the absolute worst experience at the Belchertown Vet today with Dr. Greenberger (older woman w/brown hair). My mom recommended them because she had taken her cat there. What a horrible mistake I made! What happened to me today, I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.I took my senior cat in to get blood work and some other things done. Keep in mind that my cat has a lot of ailments, so I knew it was close to the end for him. The doctor came back and told me that he wasn’t doing well and that they needed to give him medication and put him on oxygen. Make a long story short, I had to make the hard decision to euthanize him, but that’s not the worst of it. When the receptionist brought the bill to me it was over $1000. I was shocked at the price, plus I had just found out that I wasn’t going home with my cat (I was going to have him put down). I said to the tech, “what was done to make the bill so high?” As a consumer, I have every right to ask that question. She said, “sure, I’ll bring the invoice to you so that you can see.” Next thing I know, the doctor storms into the room and stands over me saying, “ what do you mean what did we do!” She said it in such a harsh tone, I was shocked. I said , what? I didn’t mean that you didn’t do anything.. I just want to see what you did. She proceeded to say. I’ve been working on your cat this whole time and I told you what was being done. I was like, wait a minute.. how dare you speak to me that way! I’m sitting here alone, sad, grieving the soon to be death of my cat that I’ve had for 18 years and this is how I’m being treated. I told her that I didn’t care about the money. Two years ago, I paid 8k for my other cat at VESH to be treated in Deerfield because he had kidney disease, etc.. Maybe the doctor thought because I was a Black woman, I didn’t have the money to pay for it (so hurtful).Belchertown vet had emailed me an approximate cost a couple of days ago, which was far less $$$, but I understood different things took place today. It was still within my right to want to see the breakdown of the bill. The doctor carried on and finally walked away. I had enough and just wanted to leave with my cat. I called my mom crying and I was shaking. I couldn’t believe that I was being treated like this because I asked to see the invoice. When I said that I didn’t expect the price to be so much, the doctor actually said, “well, we didn’t expect him to die on our doorsteps.” I was floored! What a cold-hearted, unprofessional b#tch!! It actually felt abusive to a degree. What a mean doctor. After that comment, I didn’t even feel comfortable having my cat take his last breaths in that place, but he was too weak to leave, so I did what was best for him.The only one who tried to make me feel okay was the vet nurse (red hair). She was the only one who showed me compassion in my time of grief and sadness. The doctor tried to apologize by saying she was wrong in how she acted and that she shouldn’t have come in so “hot.” She also had the nerve to say that she was overworked… CAN you believe that? There is no excuse. She should know how to effectively communicate with grieving families and if not do a different job. Her apology was too late. The damage was done. Her behavior was unacceptable as a human being and a medical professional.Im so upset and heartbroken that my last moments with my cat, Bailey was with a non compassionate, inconsiderate, awful doctor. I have had several pets throughout my life and have had to put them down. This is the first time that I have ever been treated so disrespectfully during a stressful and grieving moment in my life. It was mean and heartless. As a seasoned medical professional, as this doctor claims to be, she should be better and should have done better. I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN THAT VET HOSPITAL AGAIN. I will also tell others never to go there.

Dr. G’s bedside manner is horrible. Her responses to peoples reviews on here speaks for itself. People have mentioned this issue over and over again on here - might be time for her to self reflect :)

I would not recommend bringing your pets here. I was waiting for my pets prescriptions and there was a dog in the room behind the desk, not barking, just whining because they were alone and scared. Dr. G takes them out of the room and I said oh what sweet puppy. She's like they're bad dogs.....like what kind of vet outwardly dislikes animals? All dogs are good dogs. We've also been told things by Dr G about how good or bad our dog behaved then her staff and other people have told us the complete opposite. I don't appreciate two faced people. They schedule surgeries then never take your pet in that day but still sedated them and then doesn't even look to see if they need the surgery. Like completely willing to put a pet through an unnecessary surgery which is horrible to do to an animal. And confirmed by another vet that surgery was and is absolutely NOT necessary. And as I see on these reviews and as Ive experienced this review and any questions you pose this facility will respond with a child like tantrum of how dare you question me I'm not going to work with you anymore which is clearly what myself and other owners have already decided is that We want. We don't want to allow you to be anywhere near our pets. This is in response to theirs. Not comforting that she calls her own dogs bad dogs, again no bad dogs just bad owners. Also, surgery completely unnecessary so also a lie. Lastly, Belchertown Vet price gouges like crazy. At another vet, I got a full exam, fecal exam, and 5, two month prescriptions for what Belchertown Vet charges for 1 prescription. A complete waste of time and money and the vet and office manager are sadly just alike. No people skills and like to trash talk your dogs to other people. They are completely unwilling to listen to your concerns and try to blame their mistakes and lack of empathy on you. Go elsewhere you, your pet, and your wallet will be very greatful.

Very friendly staff. Dr. Greenberg was very good to my dog. She takes the time to explain everything you need to know. Prices are reasonable. This is my dog's new clinic. Thanks to Dr. Greenberg and staff 🐕

I go here for my exotic pets (6 bearded dragons) and they are always very caring and careful with them. I am so thankful for the exotic vet, Dr. Greenberger. She has saved alot of my reptiles lives countless times or helped me with my concerns. It's very obvious she cares extremely deeply for the animals she works with and cares for. If I could do 10 stars I would.

Absolutely disgusted with Jennifer (the new manager) my poor father is physically disabled and on a low income. He has brought his dog to Belchertown Veterinary Hospital for 2 years now and absolutely loved them. He gets his dog his meds online because it’s not only physically hard for him to travel to Belchertown but it’s also cheaper to order through Chewy and Petmeds. His drive is 30 minutes away and he’s only stayed with them because of how wonderful they have been up until now. Jennifer refused to fill the heart worm prescription claiming that these sites sell fake prescriptions. When my father questioned her and tried to explain why he cannot afford to buy flea and tick and heart worm meds through her because of his condition, she hung up on him. Then my father called back and said he wants his file so he can go to a new vet that will accommodate him and understand and her response was “you’re not allowed here anymore”he then had no other choice but to drive there to pickup his files since she wasn’t co-operating what so ever and once we got the files, we then discovered that Jennifer put false information of phone conversations in the file that never happened. She also put in the file that my father is retired and because of that he didn’t want to drive to them. There is a HUGE difference here. This place needs to be shut down or get a new manager with how awful she treats people and how little she actually cares about animals. From the look of the other reviews recently it looks like this places customer service is really going downhill.

Great so far! Had to switch from Countryside due to their pathetic service and attitudes. My dog was in pain resulting in him being partially immobile, to completely immobile. I was able to set up an appointment this month, and used Belchertowns sick call hours to get him seen within 24hrs.He’s doing a lot better and they even called to checkup on him 2 days after his appointment. This was followed up by a welcome card in the mail!Great start and very happy my dog has a vet who cares about him now. Great stuff thank you!

We moved to Belchertown 4 1/2 hrs ago which is when Ripley started going here. Right from the start the experience has been outstanding. They are accommodating, professional, loving to our dog. Eight days ago We had to do something that was extremely difficult, put our loving dog to sleep. She was 16 years 8 months old, my sidekick and my beautiful baby. They were so compassionate to her and to my husband and I. They let our dog go to dog heaven with grace and dignity which is what we wanted. Then went the extra mile sent us a card with the staffs condolences, prints of her paws, and a donation in her name , to us that was amazing. We would like to thank Dr G and all the staff, all of you helped get us through this difficult time.

Great and friendly staff.I own a ferret and needed to get him seen for possible Adrenal Disease that we suspected. Normally I frequent VCA in South Hadley as it's closer for me, but the vet there had to cancel on me due to an emergency and had me rescheduled 4 weeks out (already had waited 3 weeks at that point). I was able to call in the morning here and get an appointment the same day only a few hours after calling. The vet and staff were great with my little buddy, loved him, and treated him so well. They were able to properly handle him (I had one experience years ago with a prior vet who had no idea how to scruff a ferret, which honestly isn't that hard) and quickly assess the issue, which indeed turned out to be Adrenal Disease. They had the implant needed on hand and were able to do the procedure necessary the same day. Also, they were thorough enough to get my little guy's records from my regular vet and informed me he needed an update on his rabies vaccine, which they were also able to do the same day. During discharge they were thorough in explaining what I would need to do (even explaining where to go in case of an emergency if they weren't open) and made a follow up for a month later to make sure everything was going as it should.I would highly recommend this veterinary hospital.

We do the vaccinations at Petco and we provided to his vet the records; they ignored his vacs and did it again; telling us it was incomplete. Few months later we went to petco for his update. The Belchertown hospital call us to schedule vacs that was expired and they scheduled the dog for vacs. I called them and asked why they didn’t update his records with the documents we brought from Petco; they said they never received it. When I checked his documents they duplicated his vaccinations without our authorization. I was noticing something was wrong since he was continuously having ear infections. A lot of money spent only because they refused to accept our records from Vetco. We also buy his medication online and they refused to authorize the prescription. I think they are very knowledgeable, however at the end is all about money. After 11 months of this review, we are BANNED from this placed. We stopped attending Vetco, because Belchertown Vet never accepted his vaccinations record… Now that we scheduled with them; they vaccinated my dog and refused to give us a copy of the medication administered and they also refused to charge us for the services. They want my husband to sign an apology letter for the review I left 11m ago. I emailed the staff to explain my situation and requesting them to answer my questions; however I didn’t received any apologies or explanation. At this point I ended up with a extra vaccinated dog with no record. Unfortunately, that’s why my 3 star review changed to 1 star, today Oct 9, 2023

Amazing care and thought put into animals. Brought my guinea pig and had to face the fact of putting her down, the very knowledgeable doctor helped me weigh my options while working with me through a difficult time. I was never worried about the care of my pet, the professional history behind the vet alone was enough to make me feel more confident. Will never stop recommending for all small animals, as I have personal experience they are amazing at great prices

The best Veterinary Hospital in Western MA! My new baby Bearded Dragon was brought to Dr. Greenberger for tail rot. Herself and all of the Vet Techs we're amazing with my little guy. I could feel how passionate everyone was with what they do for our pets daily. They were as flexible as they could be with my work Schedule, answered all of my questions and scheduled his surgery right away.Feeling that I could trust them all made the drop off a lot easier. I'm so thankful I found this office. I will be bringing my fur babies here as well.Thank you to Dr. Greenberger and her wonderful/knowledgeable team! You all made a very scary situation as easy as it could have been!

The exotic vet is wonderful. Shes knowledgeable with years of experience under her belt. She takes the time to talk to you and makes you feel like she has no other patients. They're kind and genuinely care for animals. I'd absolutely recommend this vet for any small pet.

Closest place to me that will take care of mice. One of my mice was losing his hair so we took him there. They asked lots of questions about his lifestyle to gauge what the problem might be. When he finally went in, they took very good care of him. I was nervous because even though he is friendly, he's never been handled by strangers before. They gave him treats and handled him with no problems. We got a detailed diagnosis and clear instructions on how to take care of it. His hair is growing back and he's happy again! Only downside is when you make your appointment, you have to pay for it over the phone before they even see your animal.

Amazing staff.....literally everyone is amazing! I have been bringing my pets here for almost five years and like all of these people so much. More importantly, everyone is great to my dogs! Dr. Greenberger and Dr. Cleary have spent soooooo many hours making diagnoses and explaining my dogs various ailments. Also, the other staff that keeps the place running is super great! Kristin is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to daily care for elderly pups, Faith has taken so many of my calls and never run out of patience with my numberous questions, Sue is a happy face everytime we walk in, Will is SO gentle with my dogs (my dogs love him), and Shanelle maintains her cool always... even though my puppy tries to bite her! Basically a long way of saying, everyone is great and will treat your animals with genuine tenderness.

Just went for my cats first ever vet visit. I was just feeling some sort of way because that’s my baby, and I know he was scared because he threw up on the way there. But when the first vet tech/assistant (excuse me not knowing your position) but dude very quickly put me at ease, just had a trusting demeanor. Anyway they did what needed to be done, and also they cleaned up the his throw up(I’d cleaned as much as possible out before giving him over) bagged the blanket, and the vet tech gave him a toy, and he absolutely loves it! anyway, great people great and quick service. Will be returning

Very kind and gentle staff euthanized our 1.5 year old rat when he was ready. They made a tough experience very comfortable. Nice to have a vet that is not vca run so they can continue to be affordable as well.

Just want to start by responding to the owners response below: To clarify, my fiance has been a client of yours for awhile, so you're correct my name wouldn't show up, but rather his, and we have brought both our cat and dog there for years, but not anymore. The following is not a personal attack just an honest review of our experiences here and of the owners reputation among other vets in the area. I understand that it is a hard time for vets (as it is for many professions), but it is no excuse for the treatment we have received. If she has experience giving tough diagnoses, or possible diagnoses so that we could know how best to proceed, then why didn't she? Her answer "to not freak us out".Below is my original review:Dr G is extremely unprofessional and cannot handle the stress of being a vet, including having to give tough diagnoses sometimes. Was not willing to answer questions, misdiagnosed the dog which led to more medical issues and a trip to the emergency hospital. She is condescending and rude. Staff are constantly leaving because of how they are treated by her. Do not bring your animals here.

I've had a couple negative experiences here, but they're outweighed by the positive ones. Dr. Greenberger is so kind and gentle with small animals. I've taken my guinea pigs to her numerous times and I love that she'll check them out sitting on the floor, since I'm always worried about my guinea pigs on high tables in other vet offices. I've also brought my rats to her. This office is also really good about dying animals and every time my babies have passed, they send me a card that everyone's written in, and that's really thoughtful. Also sometimes, like during emergencies or when animals are dying, they've cut costs to make it more affordable for me, which I really appreciate.

Such kind, caring people here. They did everything to make our first visit fear-free for my dog. Lots of soft voices and copious amounts of treats, for which they asked permission before giving him anything. He was still a big chicken though!

This place sucks! Braught my very sick tea cup chihuahua there and they refused me right from the get go and told me to go to Ware instead! If I wanted to go to Ware I would have done so! 😡 Then I called them needing a question answered about a food item eaten by my dog I was concerned about and they would not even venture so much as a guess but instead said: "just call poison control"! Like that would be of any help! They are NOT VETS at poison control! This place is as useless as a hole in the head! Entirely disgusted! SHAME!! 😡

Great care! My Ellie was really sick they spent hours making sure they diagnosed the problem, making sure I knew what to do and Ellie was better. I never felt rushed, always felt important, eased my fears. I will never go anywhere else! Canterburt Tails and Belchertown Vets are the best! The doctor called me Sunday AM to check on Ellie. Do not hesitate to take your pet there, theyre the BEST!Mary Beth Q

I have been going to this vet since they opened with my black labs. I always have great experiences starting with the receptionists, the vet techs and the vets, and they always show compassion to my dogs and to us as well. Dr Greenberger has gone above and beyond for us. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

I bring all of my fur babies here! The staff is very personable and professional. They truly care about your pet rather than getting all the money they can from you like other Veterinary offices. I have NEVER had any type of bad experience here and we’ve been coming for years. I recommend 100% to everybody I know and even those I don’t!!
