Took my daughter’s car here while she was up at UMASS. They were nice enough over the phone but not very responsive and it took much longer to get the job done than it should have. They even had to bring it elsewhere to get steering column replaced. Now only a couple months later it’s back in the shop for another steering column. Our home mechanic is 1/2 their price and getting a factory column. Would not recommend these folks. Very disappointed and out over $600 for nothing!

I had an absolutely horrible experience with College Street Motors. Would not recommend at all. My car was towed there after having a brake issue and I was told I would get a call back about the car within the next four days. After receiving no call, I went ahead and called only for them to tell me they had no update and hang up. I called back again only for them to tell me there is nothing they can do and I should have it towed to the dealership. I tried to ask questions and was met with no response other than I should have it towed. Horrible experience. Horrible customer service.

Extremely lazy and incompetent. I sent it in for two issues. They fixed one and just gave up completely on the other, leaving my fuse box open with the cover laying on the floor along with some scrap of foam that I don't even know where it came from. They also never called me to say it was done and apparently had it sitting there for days while I was without a car, and only let me know it was done after I called them.

College Motors was terrific fixing the grid that needed to be reattached under my car. They squeezed me in on a busy day and were so speedy and the price was VERY reasonable. I'm so glad to have a neighborhood mechanic shop that is honest, easy to deal with, and reasonably priced. Thanks so much!

College Street Motor’s has saved me MULTIPLE times! Extremely honest, kind, hardworking people at the shop. Even offered to drive me to work!I came in for an issue with my heat plate, they were able to take it in the same day & finished within 3 hours! I was blown away. Plus, the other shop i had called estimated cost of $200, and they charged me $50. Literally will be a customer for LIFE.

their always rude and short tempered and quite often wrong about repairs. i needed a starter replaced and they diagnosed a faulty alternator, for real how does one mess that up?! they are also always trying to do unnecessary extra "repairs". don't go there you'll have better luck and prices literally anywhere else.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Rude and unreliable. They will charge for everything, even when unasked. Went in twice, one for engine and one for ignition issue and got charged for things like "car didn't start: $20" or "checked engine: $89.99"Would not recommend if you want your car fixed in one go. They will mess something up to squeeze as much $ as possible.

Totally impressed with College Street Motors. My son’s jeep died and we had it towed there. Within 30 mins of dropping it off John called w an estimate. The price was fair and they had it fixed first thing in the morning. John couldn’t have been more professional. Highly recommend this shop.Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Engine repair

We needed work done on anterior part of exhaust system so car would safely pass Mass. Inspection. College Motors got us in within a day and a half and took care of the.problem . The cost was.very reasonable and the people were.pleasant. I would recommend College Street.Motors.

I was in need of vehicle repairs that I and my son couldn't do ourselves. It was frontend work that required a wheel alignment. They got my car in within a few days and the work was completed in just one day. It appears to be an excellent repair, my car drives smooth and straight down the road. Mike the service writer is a very personable guy. He gave me a ballpark estimate when I originally inquired and I was very pleased that the repair actually came to just under what he estimated. I highly recommend College Street Motors if you are in need of repairs or even just gasoline as they're a full service gas station which I think is open 7:30am to 8:00pm. Overall a great experience.

Very traumatic experience with massive steering loss driving with children in car. Had vehicle towed to College Street Motors. Even though they were posted as being closed the owner answered the phone. Great communications and assessment of issue. Followed up next day and had vehicle up and running within two days. They rebuilt our power steering. Car was dead on side of the road. Got it towed over. Done next day. Survived 90 mile drive back no issues. They were nice about the fact that our car was a mess inside.

If I could give zero stars I would. I brought my car in to get the O2 sensor looked at and told the receptionist that the codes on my car had been cleared so i could bring it back to my house in amherst. i gave the the codes that were on the machine before they were cleared. Instead due to a “miscommunication” nothing got checked on my car because the message wasn’t relayed to the mechanic that the codes had been cleared and they charged me for a 100$ oil change that I did not need or ask to be done! No one looked at the problem

I really like this shop. The folks are forthright, willing to talk about considerations for repairs. Interested in cars and customers. Low key, personable. Get it done, without pushing weird stuff on us. One time, one of the guys came in off hours to help us out. They also saved us hundreds of dollars when Firestone advised a costly repair that wasn't needed. Good referrals elsewhere when appropriate - all around I'm really happy we found these folks.

*Edited from 5 stars*My car was having problems starting, so I took it in and they determined it was a bad alternator. They replaced it for what I thought was a fair price. Overall I was happy at this point (hence prior 5 star rating).The only thing is, it didn't fix the problem. Two weeks later, and my car is still dying. So I took it back in and they determined it was a bad battery. So it seems to me that my alternator had been fine all along. When I asked them about this, they gave me a wishy washy "it was probably both" response, which I don't buy. I don't want to say I was "scammed" but I does seem like they didn't do a thorough enough job the first time around, which resulted in me needlessly spending $450.I won't be going back.Services: Engine repair, Battery

Had to have my car towed here because it wouldn't drive and was stuck in neutral. Turned out I needed a new fuel pump. They did an excellent job fixing it and it was ready in a few days. They didn't upsell me on anything and 2 years later there hasn't been any problems with the fuel pump.I did take a star off though because they were really short with me and pretty much scolded me for picking my car up a couple days after it was ready. I understand that this is probably annoying for them to have a car that is fixed sitting around but I had multiple evening exams and classes during the day on the week it was ready. I also had no way other than the bus to get to the shop, so my schedule that week just wasn't working in my favor that week. Again I understand why they would be annoyed, but I did my best to get there as soon as I could. I wouldn't have cared if they had just told me they would have liked me to pick it up sooner, but I didn't appreciate being scolded like a child.No hard feelings though and I would go there again if something was wrong with my car.

Just started coming to this location when I moved back to hadley. To what I've seen and know, they seem reliable and honest I've had them check a few things while getting a oil change and they didn't charge me for that which was pretty dope. If you know automotive repair shops then you know just for having them look at your car sideways they charge you 80 bucks so that says a lot. But I've only gone there for oil change nothing major yet.

They saw us pushing our car in, came out to help stop traffic so we could get in safely. Once we were there they checked, found the problem promptly, called around to get the best price on the part they could, and gave us a quote that was within pennies of the eventual total cost. They have been nothing but accommodating and helpful.

They don't know what they doing. Just worried about labor rate per hour. Don't know how to diagnose car properly. Telling customers to install parts which even don't require to fix problem. Doing trial and error method on customer pocket money. Once I got my car fixed. I will go back to him and told him to give my 320$ back for messing up all wires connected to ECM and pulling up other wires too. I always take pictures when my car get serviced or any work done. I had pictures of things before I up car in for service. So I m ok at my place. If they ignore to give at least 50% back I will see with legal process. I don't have anything to loose. 😀

One of the few places left that give real honest quotes and stay true to them. Work has been fine the few times I’ve gone, and the parts/labor costs are exactly what they should be. A returning paying customer is better than scamming someone once and never returning and I believe they understand that.

Shop owner is very rude, did not want to work on the mechanical side of my hybrid vehicle. Answered the phone by asking me where I was going to have my vehicle towed to instead of them working on it. Why does AAA tow vehicles to this location when this shop refuses to actually work on them? I understand not wanting to touch the high voltage side of a hybrid powertrain. I was requesting work done on the mechanical side. I was inquiring about a belt to bypass the seized air conditioner compressor. There are well documented ways to complete this repair without touching the high voltage side. Don't give them your business.

I've been there twice so far, the first time to replace my brake hoses and the second time to clear out an animal nest in my engine, and the experience has been great. The people are very nice, and the service is great. Very reasonably priced, too. Definitely recommended.
