I stopped in for lunch & got some of their fresh made pizza from their pizza shop by the deli & got a little bowl of minestrone soup too. They have so many soups in the deli that they make & have available every day. They even have those little bags of soup crackers that I love available right there by all the soups.

Literally EVERYTIME I go here I end up at home with a product that I didn't want. This time it was the friendlys ice cream cups someone instead of putting the different flavor or the extras where they should of been or if they were full just didn't wait and put this different flavor ON TOP of the flavor I ACTUALLY wanted and again this is NOT the first time this has happened Big Y what's up what are you teaching your store stockers?! Extra just throw ontoo of another flavor or have 1 box of one flavor and again then a different flavor right behind it, it's happens enough that now I'm getting pretty mad. The bakery has gone downhill not alot if choice always some sort of chocolate something and lots of cupcakes that never change. And the baker is NEVER around always have to wait on them. I also watched the bakery personnel dumb the donuts out of the glass case into trash bags FULL trays just in the trash why don't you donate that to people who actually need it? Or at least I hope your dumpsters are unlocked for the people that actually are starving while your throwing away a whole case of bakery goods. Also you need to do something about the deli and the pre sliced meats I noticed they are always either the date of expiration or just a day away yes meat goes bad I know this but why are you putting out the old meat and it's just gross when you open it the last one I got LEAKED gross juice into my bag what's with that?! I already know the response you'll give that you'll forward this into the store in the area I specified and hope I shop with you again how about a more personal response instead of what sounds like a robot you guys claim you care ALOT about customer service but it doesn't seem that way when you leave the same comments to most reviews so don't give me that same response please.

Ordered through door dash pulled a long hair from my pizza and my family sized fries were burned had to throw the whole thing out, I am not one to give reviews but the amount of money I spent on these items was not cheap, don't accept orders if you are rushing because you want to close sloppy job.

I was at the self check checking out, and happened to notice that the young man who was WATCHING over that area was standing at the check out right next to me. I turned to get an item out of my cart and noticed, I was the only one in that area at the time. Just as I was beginning to wrap things up to other customers came in to check out, and since I was done he moved away from me! Now, I asked him “Why were you standing next to me?” and he told me he was watching everyone else around me? BigY, if I can’t afford to buy groceries I won’t come in, and it’s surprising that at Walmart, Stop-n-shop etc…they don’t HOVER over the customers self checking their merchandise!! Your employee got SNIPPY with me but, then I remembered a few weeks ago when I was in there, and a customer asked to speak to a manager because an employee was rude to him! He was quickly admonished by this young man who stated, “I take offense to that remark as BigY’s employees are the best you will ever come across! How dare you!!” WOW, talk about rude as well as presumptuous, and pious! BigY needs to work on Customer Service, and aged products especially, meat, produce, and seafood as well as the smell in produce. Definitely in need of a complete overhaul in every category!!

This pizza is never usually like this and has happened twice in my last two orders from here. The first time it came completely messed up and burnt. So I thought maybe it was a mistake and decided to order again today. Instead the pizza came completely uncooked and tasted like the dough was still raw.

Our company was doing a large-scale donut event and after a vendor cancelled on us last minute we reached out to Big Y hoping they could help us. The bakery staff was extremely helpful, allowed us to order with less than 24 hours notice and the donuts were delicious and ready for us when we arrived. The people working in the bakery even helped us carry out our order and ensured we had everything we needed. We'll definitely be using them for any future events and would highly recommend them! Thanks for helping us!

This is a great supermarket! The prepared food are just fantastic, the butchers are helpful and friendly. They used to do fish and chips to eat there or take out, but I'm not sure if they still do that. I also like that they will cook lobsters for you so you don't need ahuge pot to boil them at home. Ask the people at the fish counter, they will take care of you!

Great prices and very fresh grocery items! The pizza that is made fresh in the deli area is really very good and reasonably priced. The option to use the self-checkout rather than go to a cashier does help speed up the process. It's also a real benefit to have the Big Y so close to other stores and shops in the area for added convenience when doing errands. It's good to know that they sell store gift cards, too.

I placed an oder hours in advanced only to get there the ordered not complas they don't have the product. They offer another product I reluctantly accepted only for them to tell me they don't have enough in sock. I give 3 stars due to the fact they normally accommodate me with short notice to feed my large family. I'd love to give five stars. However u once received my order with half the sandwich with nothing on it. Womp womp

All foods items are available, at a reasonable prices. I usually go there to find halal meat, but I could not find. It is difficult for Amherst people who have not having car to go beyond Hadley area in search of halal foods and halal meat.

Best. No cap. The folks in the Fish Market are wicked hard workers with a job that requires the standard amount of knowledge, energy and capability for a store like this, and then dou ked over again! All day, hauling ice, working with delicious products that also necessarily require extreme vigilance and hands on manipulation such that the rest of us aren't very interested in doing...and amazingly, even with all of that extra weight across their shoulders, I get a pleasant greeting and welcome smile from each and every person who takes my salmon order. Not a plasticy, forced recitation of some corporate-approved script, a greeting from a person, who then quickly and expertly selects, weighs and packs the good stuff and I know it's not just me, so I suppose I shouldn't have to say it. But service like that really matters and actually makes my day better, encouraging me to pass it forward to the next person I encounter and greet them the same.So Thanks to all the Fish Market personnel and EVERY staff member at Northampton Big Y, your hard and consistant work -even in a period when those traits seem to be disappearing from businesses and their workers- makes Big Y less a choice than an instinct.

For a grocery store, overall it's a good store. Staff are friendly, decent, and usually helpful. It's clean and organized. Bathrooms are okay, usually clean and lack of odor. This Big Y actually has paper bags available in case you forget your own shopping bags or don't use reusable shopping bags.**Only problem, staff don't always collect shopping karts, occasionally they're are not always available at front of store.

Generally like Big Y. Not today. No pumpkin pie that is on sale. I was told it was recalled? So I thought maybe I'd get something from the hot bar. Most options were empty ( I was there before 7pm) also no one attending. About 6 people huddled together near the pizza ovens. I left without buying anything. Most likely will not return.

Made a quick stop to pick up some ham and chicken salads, xtra large cocktail shrimp, cocktail sauce and finger rolls. Deli had nice display of fresh salads and service was fast and friendly. Seafood dept. had shrimp nicely displayed on a bed of ice. Again service was fast and friendly. Store is sparkling clean, well signed, and aisles are marked for one way traffic. Customers are frequently reminded that social distancing must be kept while shopping. Store is kept well stocked.

The produce is good, but everything is overpriced, so it's never that good a buy. The baked goods they have are better than in other grocery stores, but they're not so good that I'd make a special trip for anything. The bottled juices are priced fairly, but they're the same price at other grocery stores. However, I am always taken aback at how much I have for pay for how little I bought. Because of this, I haven't been there for many months. I actually did some price comparison shopping at Stop & Shop to see what my savings were and I spent about $25 more at the Big Y for the same items. I felt scammed, which is why I never went back.

So this review is mixed for me. Fries are always generously portion, however soggy some times. The raw green peppers they put on the subs have the most strange taste! I'd highly advise against adding them to your order. Tonight was quite a disappointment. I ordered chicken tenders that were all of different sizes, too different to cook evenly... most pieces were raw. Please advise your cooks that it doesn't cook properly if the sizes are different.

I love this supermarket. It's very clean and organized. Staffs are polite and helpful. If you have the store card you can get many discounts. There is a big diversity of products as well. It's very worth it going there and checking the deals before going somewhere else. If you're in Amherst and go there by bus, you have more than 30 minutes to take the same bus 33 back to downtown.

Went to the store in Hadley/Amherst, MA today and had no trouble finding what I needed. Although the paper goods aisle was empty (which i did not need) and few others sparse like tuna, pasta, rice, spaghetti sauce and believe it or not there was not one can of Spam!!! Employees were cheerful and helpful and shoppers were courteous and respectful. I always shop at Big Y and have really never had a bad experience. Must say though, I love their music and many shoppers of all ages sing and dance while they shop!! Thank you Big Y!

I shop here every week. Always super clean! Staff is generally great, very friendly. I think that their sales are very good. I prefer the atmosphere at Big Y much more than Stop & Shop. They have a lot of hot meal options now, everything is very good. My only complaint is that they shut everything down too early, they should keep everything running at least until about an hour prior to closing.

Ordered from the pizza department it was horrible! The crust was cake thick on half the party size pizza. There was Barely any sauce or toppings and I ordered extra cheese & extra sauce. I'm assuming the person there was new potentially! Luckily I wasn't charged for the extra cheese & sauce! They must of forgotten 🤷🏽‍♀️! BUT, ultimately I wouldn't order from here again. The previous employees was AMAZING, there was a black guy & a heavy set white guy who were AMAZING in the pizza/ sandwich department.
