Store is always clean. The Staff were very polite and helpful. Anxious to help actually. Prices at S&S are always a bit higher than other stores but I have been a Stop & Shop customer over 50 Years.Good experience.

I have been going here for years and I've noticed that they are always short handed in the front end. It is annoying and other customers are complaining too. The people that they do have up front are always nice and helpful.

If you're going to have random audits for the hand scanner, please can you actually train your employees who man the self checkout on how to actually do the audit? Three times now I've gotten the audit, and the person at self checkout has had no idea what to do.

A great clean store. The deli is the only place I'll buy cold cuts and the staff of the deli...the best. Friendly and helpful

The prices are decent, especially for sale items, and the quality of products is fairly high. There's a push to have you use your own bags (or be charged $0.10 per bag), which is fine, but they make the self checkout much too confusing so it keeps seeing your own bag as something your trying to steal. There's a button to prevent this, but again, it's not obvious. Otherwise, it's a good place to shop.

Generally polite service, good looking produce, and decent variety.Check-out always seems very slow and understaffed.I find it way too expensive to shop here regularly. The last time I went in, I was asked how many paper bags I would be using and charged for each one. That was the last straw and I haven't been back since.

I have no problem with the store at all. There is one woman is in the self checkout helps you check out anyway her breath sucks I thought I was going to gag she talks people for assisting customers out her somewhere that she doesn't have to speak with the public I guarantee other people have experience this gum will not help sorry about this but do something about it

I am new in town and have never shopped at a Stop and Shop so I went in and tried it out. I will not be going back. To be fair, the store is very nice and had great selections and everything was neat and clean. I'm not sure if this is the norm for all Stop and Shops, but here in Amesbury, they have this creepy blue ROBOT with big googly eyes that scoots around and watches everyone. While I was waiting in the self checkout line it came up behind me and got a little closer to me than what I am comfortable with. NOPE!!! Very invasive! I get it that people steal but I don't and will not be harassed by a robot. I spend a lot on groceries monthly...cold hard cash... and will not be spending it at this store for this reason alone.

I shop in the Amesbury store all the time and very pleased overall. Yesterday I stopped in for a few items and I use the self checkout area. Are you not making enough money that now you have to charge $0.10 a bag. Really now. What’s up with that. It BS.

A solid 3 stars.Quality of bakery items and all produce is very good.The store has a confusing layout... natural food is tucked in on one side but the milk alternatives are at both ends of the store!The prices are higher than other area grocery stores, Shaws and MB.They need a fish market and better steaks!Need better sales!!!

I like this store, although it has 3 very weird issues.1.Produce section is very hit or miss. I don't understand.On the days I need green onion, they don't have green onion.On the days I need leeks, they don't have leeks.It's not that they're out of stock/ran out, I can understand that, there's straight up no spot on the shelf for it.2.Why oh why, does the back corner of the deli department smell like rotting meat. It's in that section near the bacon. Every time I walk by the bacon/specialty cheese section the stench of something decaying wafts over you. It's been like this for a long time (about a year) and I never visually see anything wrong, but it is a little off-putting buying fresh cut meat while you smell it.3.Most of the staff are very nice. Some of the staff are not so nice. There's one older lady at the self checkout sometimes, and when the self checkout inevitably screams about a grain of dust landing on the scale and calls her over, she's always very aggressive. The self checkout flagged me for an audit once, understandable, and she was damn near yelling at me tearing out my groceries from my bag like I stole something.

This store is one of the better Stop & Shop stores IMO. It carries a number of specialty products even other Stop & Shop stores do not. And the selection of some specialty products is even better than Whole Foods. For a smaller location it is much better than the same sized Stop & Shop store in Andover for example with far better organization. Yes it is a little more expensive than the other area stores like Market Basket but it is cleaner and you typically won't have double check expiration dates on products like you do at MB.

I hope a manager can read this. The round bread made by Stop and Shop was Awesome. They've changed it a while ago and now its not any different from other stores. It use to be soft and last long, but now within 2 or 3 days, it smells like yeast and you can see the yeast around inside of crust. Only a small circle not that color yet. The old bread was great and I'd rather pay a little extra than eat what it is now.

Cashier at register 11 was miserable and unpleasant. If she hates her job that much maybe she should quit. I have 5 kids and my niece all still at home. So I dread food shopping with all of my being bc it isn't an easy task. I normally either have to use 2 carriages but most of the time I end up shopping alone so my carriage is usually very packed. When I check out I am very aware of how frustrating it must be for any people behind me in line and if someone only has a few things I try to make sure to let them go ahead of me. But, I cant do that all day either. On this trip, I must've added wrong bc I had to ask the cashier to void 3 things bc I went above my budget. Well- that must have made the cashier angry bc she not only rudely made a big deal when i asked but bc she somehow could not figure out how to do her job correctly, and the more she couldn't figure it out the more she grumbled and humphed loudly. I WAS HUMILIATED bc now I was holding the line up even longer while she voiced her opinion about how large my order was. She made me feel pathetic. After a good 10 mins of her still making a scene belittling me, I just walked out. I left everything right there. That is something that I would normally never even think of doing to anyone I visit this store very often and have noticed the change in this store recently. From now on- I will avoid it at all costs.

Well staffed. Everything was very organized. Even down to discounted reduced price area was up to date including dairy department and they have Carvel ice cream cakes right in the same bakery area

This place is trouble, expensive when compared to other stores. They have about 4 employees working registers so the check out lines are 10-12 transactions deep. Expect at least a 30 minute trip for anything even a few things. The only thing keeping this as 2-stars is the fact that at least it doesn’t smell funny inside.

A nice, clean, well-organized store. It was virtually empty though because the prices are just not competitive with Market Basket. I saw some of the same products $1-4 cheaper at MB in Newburyport. I go to S&S occasionally because it is nearby to me but purchase very little. If price is no issue for you, it is a lovely store.

Went there yesterday around noon. Self checkouts are 12 items or less so had to go through to a cashiers line. The womens name is Jess and she literally scanned and tossed each and every single piece of product I purchased I spent 200 dollars on goods and was not at all impressed by the lack of consideration of this women. She had no personality looked miserable as all hell and had not a care in the world about tossing my stuff to the bag boy when I say she flung every single thing that’s exactly what I mean scanned it then flung it to the bagger l. There is a belt there for a reason and I think some retraining or better pay is in order then mabye I will change my one star to 2 stars

First time shopper, curbside pickup. Order ready next day (didn't have to wait for days to get), produce was fresh (not on it's last edible day), did not substitute their brand for a few items that were out of stock. Didn't order bread so I don't know if heavy items will flatten it out when bagged. Didn't order ice cream so I don't know if it will be SOFT when I do.....in other words, a huge improvement over our previous store.I will definitely continue curbside pickup.

What I like about this location is that it's in the middle of my travel points. Other wise it's too expensive and I don't find the quality to be superior for the price. Also, they have a 2 for systems where the prices are not given ....never a good thing. Citizens bank is inside and the pharmacy has great prices for prescription medication.

I Am Shocked I come here often I live in town . I stopped today as I get to the checker she starts scanning everything I had and said absolutely nothing to me she didn’t greet me or even acknowledge the fact she had a customer I was extremely offended as I’m not white but she clearly was and I do think it had everything to do with how she treated me as a person. I ask for a simple hi Or anything I even asked her if she was okay because she looked extremely upset and I don’t know who this lady is but she clearly got upset the second I approached the checking section where you pay . Please speak to your employees and tell them that everyone in this world is human we all deserve to be treated the same no matter what their skin color is …. Thank USmh

Can't be bothered to properly equip or maintain their returnable room. Randomly shut down lottery and customer service counter. Lines are routinely backed up since they won't open enough checkouts

I like this store but they need to have more cashiers. I used to go to this location a lot but bcz of the cashier issue, I go to a different store 90% of the time now. Hire some people and give them a decent hourly wage if that's what it takes.

Prices to high, and they don't hire any employees. It's pretty much all self checkout and the check outs want you to place everything next to the register, and there is like a foot of space. And without a doubt something will flag the attendant who has to come do the checkout anyway. So hire some friggin humans...

I have often stopped in at this store for greeting cards because I have always found cards that I like and always enjoy looking (and sometimes purchasing) the 3D pop-up cards. However, this time I was very disappointed because I didn't see one Hanukkah card! (Regular or 3D) I ended up going to Target because they always have a decent selection. This will not prevent me from continuing to shop there in future but will always make me wonder why?
