Does upper management provide their cashiers with customer service training? Ms. Nyja, a teenage cashier, did not greet me when it was time for her to ring up my groceries. Instead she started the conversation with "Do you want to put in your phone number"? Where was the "Good Afternoon" or "Good evening" or "How are you doing?". I know your only a teenager but if you are going to be a cashier you should have some sort of customer service skills...

I love this safeway I always have a wonderful experience when I come William at the Starbucks counter is Amazing he is the reason why I come to safeway at least 3 times a week for my morning pick me up. And to pick up other items. I look forward for his warm welcome everytime I see him he is truly a gentleman. And Deserve 10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟🌟🌟. Also he treats all of the other employees at the counter with the utmost respect as well Will definitely is the definition of Exceptional Customer Service.

Never in my life have I been this offended. So the supervisor or manager in Upper Marlboro not sure what her title is but calling me problematic because I was in line over 20mins because the store had no cashiers and a lot of customers due to the upcoming storm real unprofessional. Next time your cashier makes a mistake when ringing up an order make sure the customer is handled correctly and being called problematic and you can leave your stuff is not it especially after waiting so long already then now I have to go to customer service to fix the issue like it’s my fault. I will definitely be reaching out to the regional/district manager!

Wanted to give a special shout-out to the lady who is working in the Starbucks counter this morning, she’s always been on point and actually most of the time the others have too. Her name is Amari, she may not see this review but thanks for your Greta customer service and energy you put out. I can tell you enjoy your job, that aside too I enjoy the store in general. Only thing I miss is the og ginger beer they use to sell but the other choice me and some of my friends use is good enough 😂 👍🏽 highly recommend this store for locals and out of town individuals/families! ✌🏽💙

This is a very clean and well stocked store ! I found fresh seafood aswell as vegetables and meats . There seem to be a sell on just about everything at this location. Two thumbs up to the management team and the floor staff.

All I wanted was a lemon loaf, hot cocoa and my favorite triscuit for egg salad when I get home. It's the only place where I can be sure my Starbucks is open at 8pm with no line. Hallelucious! Always clean.

The grocery store is large, clean and very well stocked. They have "Tap to Pay" for your purchases. I love the bakery, especially their little section for DC Sweet Potato Cakes. The staff is helpful and friendly. Stop by and check them out. I highly recommend.Just a suggestion and will you consider in the future. Do you think you could make an ORGANICS Section? So, those customers who will use it; will not have to search throughout the whole store. It would be greatful appreciated. Thank you. 😊

The food was nice and the produce looked good, but employees had multiple aisles completely blocked with their carts and boxes while restocking in the morning. Then when I started pushing my cart out of the store after doing self checkout, the cart locked up on me and wouldn't move. I've never had that happen before, so it would've helped if someone immediately explained that my cart must've been too far away from the self-checkout kiosk to "unlock" (who knew?), and then helped me out by unlocking it. Instead, a man (maybe a manager?) came up to me and just told me I "couldn't take the cart out of the store." Huh??? I'm looking at a cart of food and wondering how I'm supposed to get it to my car. It wasn't until a helpful young lady came up and explained the situation (though I was still confused - it's a weird system) and unlocked the cart that I could get out of the store. Overall a frustrating experience.

I was in store located in Upper Marlboro, Crain Highway in the Plaza with Petco. A Customer left three $20 bills ($60) in the cash machine. I attempted to contact the store manager to ensure it was noted and turned over by the store representative who retrieved the money from the register. The store representative seemed unbothered, went into the back and returned in seconds with a spool of paper for the receipt dispenser.

So I was trying to make a late run to get something I needed to start Sunday dinner in the crockpot and I got to the store at 11:54 pm tonight. Now while I understand you close at 12 am, I expect to be able to get in the store until 12 am and not show up at 11:54 pm and grocery carts are blocking the front door. This makes no sense to have store hours if you plan to close whenever you want to. Now if enough folks complain and stop patronizing this store maybe they will do better. #PoorCustomerService #PoorManagement

It’s your traditional Safeway. Lots of groceries plus there is a Starbucks on the store. Staff are helpful and work to make things right for you. Meat department is good and the guys will trim or cut meat the way you want it. Parking is good but lot can be busy.

More than half of the self checkout kiosks do not work, and they will literally operate at night as if they need no additional support, cashiers or otherwise. This has been an ongoing issue. Pathetic, irritating, and last night (7/14/23) was the last straw. I will no longer be shopping here.Fix. Your. Equipment.

This store is probably one of the best in the area. I usually order for online pickup, but when I visit inside it’s usually very clean. The employees there are nice and helpful. Fruits and vegetables are always fresh. I love the app! I get a ton of discounts, rewards points, and deals which you can clip online and use in the store. The savings for quality food is real. I definitely recommend using it - and just a tip.. download before you get to the store because they have terrible phone service in that area.

Always good except for the Deli. The staff act as if they are doing you a favor, they are never at the counter. Always a 15min wait, while they come sashaying from the back as if they are selling tickèt to heaven. I do not buy from the delivery section. Management should know this therefore Management is deficient too.

On yesterday, I went to this Safeway and to my surprise, it was the worst experience thanks to Sandra at self checkout.I went here on an Instacart assignment. While checking out the order, I noticed Sandra walking pass my cart and look in it. Then went to the register next to me acting like she was doing something, which made me uncomfortable. As I was bagging the order, here she come again. Only this time she literally looked in my cart and asked me if the 3 items (air freshener, travel size vaseline and lotion) I had at the top of the cart were mines. After looking at her in disbelief, I said, “Yes it is. I’m doing Instacart” and those are my things that I’ll be paying for separately. Then, I began expressing my frustration about her assumption that I was trying to steal or something and how insulting it was.Instead, of apologizing immediately, she walked away. Then when I approached her to get her name and asked why did she treat me in that manner. She then apologized and said, she didn’t know I was doing Instacart, which didn’t matter. She made an assumption without allowing me time to pay for the items. Besides, there were other customers and she poorly judged me only.I’ve never experienced anything like this in my life. I was embarrassed, humiliated, disgusted and frustrated. Although, she eventually apologized, it still doesn’t excuse her poor behavior or poor judgment. Besides, the apology would have never happened if I didn’t approach her to get her name. Otherwise, she would’ve let me walk out the store without saying anything. If I was white, would this have happened? A question, I’ll never get an answer to. Unfortunately, I’ll never go to Safeway again. Not even to make money with Instacart.

This is the only Safeway in my area and I will never go back again. My biggest issues are with the pharmacy… over the last year I have had to complain about their attitude and service every time I deal with them so I have asked my doctors not to send my prescriptions there anymore. They’re rude, lazy, and they really don’t care about human decency. Don’t bother complaining to the managers, they get defensive. Someone in the pharmacy told me to “shut my mouth” if I wanted him to help me with my husband’s medicine, then he hung up on me when I told him not to speak to me that way and when I told the store manager that, my husband got a phone call with the solution to his problem, but I never got a callback like I was told by the manager for the way I was treated. Other than that, the store is poorly stocked throughout the year, I have found rotten produce in their shelves, no one is around to help with anything ever, and the people behind the meat counters and hot food counters take their time if they are ever present and they like to fight with people. This store will never get my family’s business again.

This store is in my neighborhood, and serves the community well, given its, apparent limited resources and need for a makeover.Still, staff/managers are helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. And, the pharmacy staff treat customers personally-professionally. The present an image of knowing each pharmacy customer by name and nature of medical prescription.The store is a comforting place to shop. I will be glad when it is able to undergo the much needed upgrade.

My experience was good! Just stopped in on my way home to pick up a few things. The store was well organized and well stocked. The team members we friendly and helpful. Most importantly though, everyone had their mask on. Sanitation supplies for wiping down carts were available, although, I had the thought that someone should be there to make sure people wipe down the cart before use. Check out was a breeze.

First time to this store. Impressed how clean the store was. Their produced looked fresh. Want to give credit to the cashier I had (Aalyah). In today’s society it is hard to find decent customer service. This cashier was nice, asked appropriate questions on how I would like my groceries bagged, and was very efficient to keep the line moving.

They are butcher's and provide the best cuts.I shop here instead if a closer Safeway because of its cleanliness, not only the store but the environment surrounding the store. Safeway as a grocery is fine. Safeway pharmacy... Don't bother. They don't want your business anyway. Staff is incredibly rude and unhelpful. After my treatment today, I won't be getting any meds from them ever again. Not worth it.

I love this location. Easy access to the main roads and other shopping. Always stocked shelves and fresh produce and meat. Open registers and self check out. This store is not the closest one to my home but I will drive longer to come here because the produce is better, there's a good selection of grains and nuts in the bulk bins, there's no fishy smell when you walk near the meats, and usually I can get fresh bread loaves when I want one. AND, most importantly, they manage the store well by keeping shelves stocked with fresh items, aisles are clear, and enough staff is present to run the registers and prevent aggravating waiting. Keep up the good work!
