This place is a joke especially the deli. The employees are rude and slow. They are not just slow but comically slow because they are all talking about their personal lives a they slice 1 slice every 30 seconds. I think the GM and Deli manager need to be fired. I'll spend the extra money and go to Safeway where they can actually have their shelves stocked because they don't have 10 employees standing around talking to eachother and 10 others getting to go orders with one person stocking the store.

Food Lion is my go to grocery store on Kent Island. The store has wide selection of food items to include fruits, vegetables, meats, and dairy. They have an awesome bakery with an assortment of cakes...icecream and baked and other bakery items as well. The deli counter has a huge selection of cheeses and meats to choose from as well as varieties of salads like macaroni and potatoe....and dont forget thos rottisery chickens! The store is kept clean and the employees are friendly and very helpful.

The smell in the store literally hits you in the face as you walk inside....it smells of rotten chicken and seafood!!! It has been like that for a VERY long time. It was noticed in other comments. They definitely need to address it and find where the smell is coming from.....absolutely disgusting!!!

I am always disappointed with lack of regular checkouts. 2 on a Saturday.morning doesn't cut it. This could.just be staffing issues. Besides that store is clean and associates are helpful and friendly.

I am extremely disappointed with this store. Price discounts or sale price means go screw yourself. No I will not take it back and give you another chance to screw me. Now I have to drive farther to Safeway. Goodbye

The prices are very reasonable at this Food Lion... Safeway has more of a [quality] selection in their meat/deli department in my opinion, but that's about it... But, and a BIG but, price comparison for staples/boxed/everything else... Food Lion beats Safeway hands-down!

Horrible. Used to be great. Now I drive 20 minutes to the one in Centreville even though I live 5 minutes from the store. They don't have enough employees to check people out. I guess they're trying to save a buck by not hiring people. Even the self check-out can have 15-20 people backed up down an aisle. I don't care if gas is $8 a gallon. I'm outta there.

They have great deals and low prices. Their employees are very friendly and helpful. My shopping cart was completely filled, if I would have continued shopping more I would have had to get another cart and thought I had spent well over $100, but only ended up spending about $86. If I would have went to Safeway. I would have gotten half of what I got and spent way more money. Their produce is always fresh and locally grown. They have a decent sized section of organic only products. Everything is easy to find, I never have to ask where something is. The store is always neat and clean when I go in and their public bathrooms are usually always clean too. I think only 1/50 times I have been their that their bathroom was messy,but didn't stay that way for long before someone went in their and cleaned it. Also their employees were very informative about their club card benefits and how it works and how to get the most savings when using their club card. The deli section was clean and neat and organized. The deli department workers were also very informative about the different meats and cheeses and deli items they sell too. The lines may look long sometimes, but their cashier's are all usually pretty quick with ringing people up and getting you checked out in a timely manner. They have self checkout too with am employee there to assist you in any way, if you need any help. They have fresh bakery items that are all properly dated and fresh. The meat department was out of stock of something and the meat department worker noticed I was looking for something and the space was empty and stopped to ask if I needed assistance with anything and I said yes and asked if they had any more in stock in the back and he was very kind and helpful. He stopped what he was doing and went in the back and came back with the meat I was looking for. Also their good at giving you a card when you want something that is on sale,but they are out of it, you go to the customer service desk and let them know they will double check and make sure none is in the back and give u a card with the sale item written on it and how much it is on sale for and inform you when the item will be back in stock, so you can come back later even if it is no longer on sale at the time you show the cashier the card and still get the item at sale price even though the sale is over. I love that, because Food Lion is pretty popular here and they do tend to run out of certain items when they go on sale so I can still get the item at the sale price and save money on that item even after the sale has ended. So for these numerous reason I will rate my Food Lion with 5 stars! I can honestly say that I have never had a bad experience at this store. I cannot say the same for other stores.

I shop between Safeway and Food Lion now that I live on the island. Today I found ginger at Food Lion from Brazil rather than Safeway’s finger from China. Very happy about that!! Now I just need them to stock the So Delicious cashew milk vanilla icecream! 🤞🤞

I can’t say enough about the deli department. Always a few people working the counter and they are always super friendly. The deli manager Is great. After getting my lunch meat I couldn’t find the rolls I wanted. He went back into the bakery and bagged them up for me. Great customer service

They've really made some awesome improvements lately!! The online shopping addition was most welcome. The shoppers are always making excellent choices for substitutions and I love how they text you as they shop to let you make substitution choices as they go.

Clean and well organized. The employees seem to be genuinely happy with their jobs and with their customers. Add in the more than competitive prices and Food Lion adds up to be a grocery store that is worth checking out.

Good Clean store! Better then a lot of other grocery stores.Doesnt hold a candle to Grauls Market or Whole Foods though. Best thing about Food Lion is the prices. Especially on all the products in the middle aisles. The Deli dept. has gotten much better in the past year or so. (We used to never buy lunch meats or cheeses there) The produce is good. The meat dept. is seriously lacking & I feel like the seafood dept. is basically non-existent. So I’d like to see a change with those departments & lot more variety of meats etc. Self-check out is fast! The staff is very very nice & helpful. Bathrooms are always clean too!

This food lion location is newly updated with their extra self checkout lines. Perfect for when you only have a few things to grab. So many options for specific eaters and nice variety of everything.

Love it, great prices and selection, but they have zero toys (I usually get my son 1 hot wheels car at the grocery store) and my cut flower bouquets had moldy stems.

My go to shopping store. Customer service is PHENOMENAL. I love my local Food Lion, the staff is very friendly I've never had a bad experience with this store. I always shop here, prices are much better than other grocery stores.

So while I was at Food Lion today I heard a customer ask an employee why they didn't have directional signs on the aisles. The response was that no one would pay attention to them anyway.I don't disagree. But is that a reason to not offer those who want to do the right thing the opportunity to do so?I mean, I understand that a lot of places are experiencing shortages. There was likely panic buying of puff pastry, marmite, and sun-dried tomato paste early in the pandemic. I can't fault them for bare shelves, especially on a holiday weekend. But keeping people moving in one direction and making some effort other that the clearly ignored recording to maintain safe distances should be the yardstick that any store is measured by this month. And Food Lion does not meet the mark.

Since this review in 2005, they have greatly improved! Better Associates, better Quality and yet still the best prices. Do the test, I challenge you: Make a big list of items you use the most. Take that list and shop for it once at FoodLion and once at Safeway, wow, you will be in for a surprise make sure your checking account is well balanced when you go to Safeway!If you're on a budget like us and don't always can or want to run to a whole sale club. FoodLion is your best choice. Make sure to sign up for the club card for extra savings.

It's alright, a little cheaper than Safeway but I feel like that's negligible compared to what Safeway offers just a few miles away. I'd say if you're closer to here, go here, if you're closer to Safeway, just go to Safeway.
