PLEASE NOTE: This review is SOLELY for the deli department. This Safeway location is one of the best in every other aspect, 5 stars.But for the last few months, the deli department has had two new additions. I’m assuming they are the two younger hires. They have the NASTIEST attitudes. First of all, the gentleman doesn’t even greet you or really acknowledge you. The young lady acts like she’s doing you a favor by serving you. I’m not sure if she was told upon hire that she would have to deal with people and have to interact with them in order to take their orders. I’ve tried to ignore it but, the rudeness I witnessed today from the young lady was too much.

This safeway is great, close by my house, good customer service and excellent pharmacy staffs but please clean the bathroom or even better renovate it. Its in terrible shape, smelly, leaky and run down. I have gone here for 8 years and the bathroom has always been in this condition.

I was having difficulty getting the RSV vaccine and Sergei at Cloverly Safeway was very helpful in providing it. I did not wait long and was very appreciative that I could receive it. I did not have a good experience elsewhere. We will be shopping at this store much more. Thank you very much.

Never more than one checker. Could be the biggest shopping day of the year. No hand baskets. Products are good. Management is terrible.

Store has really gone downhill. Selection limited, don't go for produce, and at night the workers sit up on the table and chat with each other and don't even pay attention. Trash everywhere and they couldn't care less

Was able to find everything me and my dad needed for my grandma's birthday. It is very well stocked with gluten-free and dairy free options for anyone with allergies, everyone ive met so far!

Thank you to Scott and the entire deli team at Cloverly Safeway,I ordered some catering platters for my daughter’s moving day, and they were ready on time, freshly made and delicious. Condiments and napkins were included.I ordered a sandwich platter, a wings platter and a veggie platter. Everything tasted great.I asked for certain veggies and they followed my request.When I went up front to pay , the manager saw that it would be difficult for me to ring the platters up at the self serve register and she kindly opened up a register and rang my items.

I had a miserable experience today at Safeway. I've supported this chain and location for decades, but that ended today. All of the self-checkout stations had signs that said "no cash." I didn't have my debit on me, so I was forced to enter the only line open. This register six was in the middle of the market, and I was wedged in the middle of the passageway, constantly trying to avoid traffic. The line was backed up, and I asked the cashier if he could call some backup. He politely agreed, and called his manager. All the while, my ice cream melted, and no one came for another 5 minutes. A lady finally shows up, but does nothing. I asked the cashier who this was, and he replies it's his manager. After I paid, I went to customer service, and asked to speak with a manager. The lady responded by saying I am one of the managers, but not The manager in so many words. She continued her convo on the phone, trying to pretend I wasn't there. I explained to her what was going on, and asked her why they couldn't open another register. She says to me "I wonder the same thing." Unbelievably miserable, long shopping experience, while my two little girls waited forever for me. No cares for cash only customers. I'm sorry, aren't there people with no banks or kids for example, who may want to buy a drink in cash. To be fair, I do not blame the cashier or front-end manager, although her customer service was not good.update- I contacted Safeway's corporate office as they suggested. No response! I will never go to this market again. Save your money and find a place that will not trap you in the store, because their self-checkout stations only take cash!

This is my go to store. It’s close to home and sometimes I’ll even walk here. I’m also an avid coffee drinker so Starbucks is another key driver to visiting this location. Big thank you to Adeline and Maria. They make coming here worthwhile. I rather drive to this location than to an actual Starbucks store (mind you, Starbucks has order ahead on the app and I still choose to come here instead - that says a lot about Safeway’s employees) Adeline and Maria make customers feel at home, they are so warm and welcoming. The Starbucks line can get super long but it’s worth the wait because they handle everyone with so much care and patience. Great store overall.

A pretty good Safeway. Being way out in the country, I've rarely seen this particular Safeway busy or full. Of course, this being Maryland, dont expect to buy Liquor, beer, or wine here. Still, a good place to stop for whatever you need for groceries. Parking is always easy here.

I love this store. I really do. However I don’t like some of the managers. So I walked in this evening minding my business. As I looked across the front end of the store I noticed the Front End Manager on her personal cell phone, which I know from previous employment that it’s not allowed unless it’s an emergency. This is not the first time I’ve seen this lady on her phone. Then I saw this same young lady attempting to tell another employee, who could’ve been a cashier, that he couldn’t wear a company provided shirt which wasn’t black. Talk about petty. There were clearly at least 3 cashiers wearing the same shirt. So I basically followed behind her and I know she supposed to help work the restock of return items. Unfortunately, she didn’t. Talk about lack of responsibility. The store manager does more work than she does. Just my thought and opinion.

I have been a regular customer for the past seven years. Regreatfully the customer service has gone down while prices have steadily gone up. I shop their because it is close to where I live and don't have enough time to travel to next nearby store. Don't shop late hours unless you're prepared to go through self check out. Store intentionally turns off cashiers check out lanes forcing customers to use self check out. I'm among very few customers who don't like self check out kiskos instead prefers interaction with a real person.Store cares less for customer service instead focus on cutting cost. I wish there is another alternative to Safeways in Cloverly.

The only good thing about this pharmacy is the staff is very friendly and courtious. Other than that the service is terrible. They are either way understaffed or just extremely slow. Half the time they dont have the prescription. The wait time for a prescription fill or just to pick up a prescription that has been filled is way too long. Elderly people with canes, sick people etc. are forced to stand in the long line, waiting in the isles blocking shelves and shoppers for over 30 minutes. Don't be fooled if you just see 2 people in line because it will still take 30 plus minutes.Whatever you do, never shop before picking up your prescription or your ice-cream will melt and other food will spoil.

No fault of this Safeway... it's busy. Almost all the time... patience with one another goes a long way here. I find selection of food and condiments to be decent. I do go elsewhere for my meat but I just find that I don't like the selection at any Safeway. The store is clean and seems to be appropriately staffed.

This store is not very consistent. Carries some of the groceries & then doesn't have others that they carried before or brands like Chock full of nuts coffee they carry regular but not decaf. & butter, they used to carry the butter wth olive oil in Smart Balance. Now I have to BUY SOME OTHER PRODUCT. The Biscotti with Chocolate & almonds was something I always got. Now, nothing. The management isn't quite as good as it used to be...

Really impressive floral department. Has beautiful fresh flowers, bouquets, decor and other unique plants. I'm always happy with my purchases from this Safeway's floral department. Kind, helpful employees and good customer service. Only complaint is the slow checkout. However, this is not unique to this Safeway. Every time I go to a Safeway, regardless of location, the checkout process is slow. I wish they could have a more efficient checkout, but the high quality of their products keeps me coming back.

This Safeway is the WORST!!It is stocked with EVERYTHING yet has NOTHING. I came on a Tuesday afternoon to pick up cilantro, tomatoes and Cotija cheese. They had no Cotija cheese. Try eating black bean tacos without Cotija cheese… Trust me, you will not enjoy it. I had to drive all the way to Olney.Fast forward to right now, there is a sale on Apple cider and I would love to make hot apple cider but unfortunately this location is OUT OF CIDER. I feel as though I am being attacked personally, but I know, in reality, that is not true. I’m done with this SAFEWAY

Nothing to call home about. Alright pricing, respectable staff, overall decent. Just don't expect to find all your desired goods here. They're will stocked in general items, but some cheeses and other items will be more difficult to find. If they improve their selection, I'd be happy to bump up my rating.

Don't go at dinner time on a Saturday night. The place looked like a horde of locusts went through it. They were out of some basic items like Frozen mixed vegetables and sour cream. And don't even think of getting out quickly. Rarely are there enough cashiers available no matter what time of the day. On a positive side, the small fish section is great.

A place that you must visit.I was on my way home and ran in to play my lottery. I was suprised of the new lottery machine that they have now. I had to have one of the workers show me how to work it. Modern technology, I love it. This store is very clean and the employees are so helpful and professional. I was like a little kid in a candy store. I went in for a few things and came out with more. The produce is so fresh. I highly recommend this location to everyone!!.

Handicap accessible, free parking, friendly staff and open until 12 midnight. Each week the company has sales on different products which is a plus. My parents and I have been shopping at this location for years. Better prices than Giant Food in my opinion. The signature soups are delicious and the added products they sell now are fantastic.

Good prices and decent selection, although I always find I need to stop at Giant at least every couple of weeks because something I expect them to have is put of stock or not carried. Checkout has gotten slow recently. Not sure if it is a lot of new checkers, or be ause they recently changed to chip card readers and they are slower, and customers still get confused by them.

The store in Cloverly has always been a pleasant experience., super clean and welcoming appearance.Today was note worthyl for 2 reasons: I received the most exceptional customer service from the gentleman who worked the Deli department. His product knowledge was exceptional!! My query was about the flavors of the hard salami products sold by Safeway. He was awesome!! I travel alot and have a particular palate. His assistance today will make Safeway my Deli products store!! The other deli staff assistant was very pleasant also!Secondly, I witnessed the exceptional customer service from th store manager with an elderly customer looking for what was an elusive product, Bloody Mary Mix. The manager stopped in his tracks and assisted the customer.... I found it refreshing!! Thank you Cloverly produce dept for such great presentation.

Always crowded not enough open registers so always long lines. Prices are high . I tried to buy a cake there and the whole bottom was leaking some sticky stuff and it was all over the floor.I told a manager and he offered me half price for the cake and I was like you're crazy.
