Short Version: Dog was bit while boarded at Cleverdog. Staff either intentionally did not let me know or didn’t pay attention enough to notice he was actually bit. Either way I wouldn’t trust my dog in their care ever again.Long Version: I’ve taken my dog here twice, both times for urgent last minute daycare/boarding.First time was fine. Didn’t love that the dogs were separated into groups in different pens. The dog daycare we normally go to let’s all the dogs roam free and my dog seems to enjoy that more. But no big deal otherwise. He was fed and chaperoned so I can’t complain.The second time is why this place gets 1 star from me. I went to pick up my dog around 4:00 PM the day after I had dropped him off. When I did the staff at the front desk notified me that they noticed a “foul odor” coming from my dog’s head behind his ear around 9:00 AM that morning. They said they cleaned it with warm water and isolated him in his own pen so it wouldn’t get worse from playing with other dogs. When I asked how that happened or what it came from, the lady said “Not sure. Maybe it’s from an old scab.” I know I can’t know every part of my dog but I’d know if there was a scab, especially if it was fresh enough to smell bad and show signs of infection. Strike 1. Then I asked why she didn’t call me or my emergency contact if the staff noticed the wound at 9:00 AM. “We thought you were going to pick him up in the morning.” As a reminder, I dropped off my dog under emergency circumstances (emergency hospital visit). I never set any expectation of when I’d come back to get my dog. And when I didn’t show up in the morning, why didn’t you call then? Strike 2. Instead of continuing this conversation, I figured the best thing I could do was go to a vet or at least go home and check this thing out. I go home and start to clean the wound with antiseptic and warm water. Within a few minutes I noticed two very clear, very apparent holes made from teeth. My dog had been bitten. I’m not disillusioned. I know things happen at dog daycare and sometimes it’s just bad luck. But the staff either didn’t even bother to diligently check the wound to discover that or knew about it and decided it was best not to inform me. Strike 3. Nail in the coffin is the fact that I gave them ample opportunity to address this issue with me before posting this review. This incident happens Memorial Day weekend and Ive called and emailed them since. I never got a response. So now I’m posting this review and I’m saying BE CAUTIOUS OF CLEVERDOG. THEY DO NOT SEEM TO CARE ENOUGH TO LET YOU KNOW IF YOUR DOG HAS BEEN HURT WHILE IN THEIR CARE. I certainly won’t be going back.

We used Clever Dog Grooming for the first time and had a good experience. Jasmine did a great job on our Golden's summer cut, and was very professional explaining different cut options to us. Excellent customer service is super important to us and everyone delivered! Thank you.

First time I made a grooming appointment, was okay but my dog cane home with bad diarrhea. Thought I would try one more time and made an appointment; only to be told I was not on the books. I walked out as this just seems like incompetence. Would not recommend.

My first time taking my dog here. They got so many good reviews on Nextdoor. I don’t know how people can take their pets to this place. I wanted my dog’s nails clipped. Both paws of my dog’s nails were bleeding. They are not supposed to bleed when you cut the nails. My dog cried when she got home from pain. I didn’t like this place based on my first time being here.

Georgie, my Yorkie mix, is the 2nd dog that I have trusted to Cleverdog for grooming. Jasmine has groomed first Angie who sadly passed away now Georgie who can be a handful but is putty in Jasmine's hands. She has done an excellent job, the whole grooming environment is positive, professional and they have taken great care of my dogs. Value for money. If you want good service and quality work you pay for it.

We've been taking our fur baby Dov to Clever Dog ever since he was first eligible after getting all of his puppy shots. They are great! My husband toured all of the day cares in the area and found Clever Dog the best fit for our needs. Some of the places he toured kept the dogs hidden so you couldn't see them when you walked in, and they were apprehensive to let him look around, which was very concerning to us. At Clever Dog, everything is wide open so you can see pretty much the entire facility when you enter. They're not hiding anything. Plus they have Web cams to watch your pup during the day. We've been very happy with them.Dov actually looks forward to going to day care. They also are very reasonable, especially if you get package deals. They even let us drop him off for like an hour and a half one day just to test how he liked it for a nominal fee. They're open 7 am until 7 pm, which is really nice when you're running late. We've been very pleased. We especially like that they don't keep the dogs outside for long (our toy poodle is very much an indoor dog), they don't crate the dogs during the day, and there are 7 separate play areas to group together similar dogs. Dov (who's normally very clingy) runs up to the gate when we get there to drop him off and doesn't even notice when we leave.

My American Staffordshire Terrier is 79 pounds of energy, cuddles and love. We are very specific about his care as my husband and I wanted a dog that would be good with kids. We recently had a newborn baby and our dog has been AMAZING with the baby, but needs friends and socialization with other dogs. This was his first time playing with multiple dogs at once. I think Clever dogs is EXCEPTIONAL. They welcomed my dog, reviewed his shot records and even called my vet to confirm they were up to date for the ones that were missing. The dogs are in view as soon as you walk into the facility. I stayed for about an hour because I wanted to monitor my dog’s adjustment. They welcomed my presence, were familiar with all the dogs temperament and left him with a group that worked with him. He met his new friends on the leash and as he interacted well with the other dogs, he was taken off the leash. I am very pleased with Clever Dogs and look forward to bringing my dog back for a play date❣️

They always take great care of our pup! Our dog is very shy but loves the Cleverdog staff. She gets a little nervous still when we take her to get groomed but the groomers do a great job to make her feel comfortable. And they do a great job with her!

I was so glad to find them. It was difficult to find someone who wants to groom a standard poodle and knows how to groom a standard poodle correctly. Clever Dogs has kept my boys beautiful. The staff are experts and kind and loving with the dogs. They are not inexpensive, but they are worth it. It takes time to do these big dogs right and it is money well-spent.

I highly recommend Clever dog for grooming! The staff are all friendly and it's obvious they care about their four legged clients. Tanya grooms our Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier. She does an excellent job.

I took my dog here for the first time this week to get groomed and I will not take him back again. While the staff was very nice, they did a terrible job at cutting my dogs hair. His entire body was very choppy and all I wanted was for him to be shaved. His tail had a section that was clearly cut way too short, his right ear was very uneven and messed up, and I found a rather large cut on his stomach. I am very unhappy with the haircut he received, especially for the price I paid for it ($75 for a simple cut on a small dog).

A relative of mine had their dog groomed here before dropping him off for us to watch for two days. Upon getting to our home I noticed that the dog was very anxious and kept sitting down. Upon inspection I noticed that the groomer had cut the shaft of his penis and butchered the underside of his tail near his rectum. Instead of two days of dog sitting we kept the dog nearly a week and kept applying creams and ointments to heal the wounds while keeping him active and distracted. I understand that upon addressing it with the management there was no apology and no concern. Folks I would think seriously about whether you want to take your pet to this environment... there are other options which you should consider. Proceed at your own risk. I also noted while they have cameras in their day care area there are none in the grooming area.Encourage you to read the Yelp reviews as well... there are more similar experiences.

The groomer (Donna) my family had gone to multiple times never cut my dogs (Golden retriever) fur short enough even though we asked multiple times to cut it shorter in a cheap ploy to get us to come back and spend more money. The first (and last) time I went to pick up my dog she rudely yelled at me that if we ask to have it cut shorter we’ll have to find a mother groomer. I had never met this women in my life and this is how she treated a customer she had never met and who’s dog had routinely come back to get groomed by her. We took her rude advice and went to a different groomer.

As a professional dog groom before arthritis, I think this is a most professional salon. The various breeds were beautifully done. The facilities were clean and had no bad odors. There were no perfume-y smells either.The sort of place I want for my animals and I KNOW what I am seeing. The folks were pleasant to people as well, and I am happy to have found them.

We had our dog board here for 5 days/nights and were hopeful for a positive experience given the good reviews. We left 3 extra days of food with CleverDog in case we were delayed - when we picked up our dog after 5 days, all the food was gone (with no explanation why) even though we gave careful instructions on how much he was supposed to be given each day. Not only that, he reeked of urine. It was obvious he was laying in dog pee. We won't be going back - there are way too many dogs that stay here and its obvious things get overlooked. For the price it costs to board a dog here each night, I expected better service.

I asked them to trim my dog and please not shave him. His entire body and face area was shaved. Not very pleased with the service since it will take many months for my dogs fur to grow back. I would not recommend going here for the price since it’s $75 and that does not include teeth.

Had my golden doodle cut there about a week ago. And when I say cut, I mean the groomer physically cut him in two different places that left scabs.Upon calling and informing the owner of this, I was met with a rather harsh attitude and told that "this happens when dogs are matted, and you're free to take your business elsewhere". Considering this hasn't happened before at any groomer I or other poodle-mix owners I know use, I definitely will be taking my business elsewhere.TLDR: Bad haircut followed by the worst customer service I've ever had

The ladies at Cleverdog do such a great job with our "puppy babies." We are never disappointed with their cuts, (they're both Shih Tzu's). The prices are pretty reasonable too, for the quality of their services.

Cleverdog was recommended to me by the dog trainer I hired for my GSD pup. My dog was in a kennel for just about 24 hours while at Cleverdog. Yes, it was 4th of July, a holiday, but the owner or receptionist, whomever she was, never set the expectation as to how their dog care changes for the holidays. Because if I had known how my pup’s experience would’ve really been during a holiday at Cleverdog, I would’ve left immediately with my dog, and not have left him there to be stuck in a kennel for nearly 24 hours.At night I checked the cameras, and saw that the whole building had been pretty much shut down. There was no one in site. Those poor dogs all alone. Makes you think what would happen to them if an emergency occurred while no one from Cleverdog was there.And then morning came. Still no one. I gave specific instructions that my dog eats at 6am and again at 6pm. I understand they have to feed all dogs, so my dog might not eat at 6am on the dot. But it was 8:15 and my pup had not been taken out to relieve himself, much less given his food to eat (and I started watching the cameras around 6am), no other dog was being fed either. So finally I saw Cleverdog staff make an appearance for about 1 hour. They quickly took my dog outside but then brought him inside even quicker. I know for a fact my dog was not given enough time to relieve himself. So, after they made their 1 hour appearance, poof! The building went dark again. No one in site and every dog stuck in their respective areas, my pup stuck in his kennel.I checked life of Riley’s cameras, because that’s where I boarded my pup for the first time, and they had staff taking care of the dogs and no dog was stuck in a kennel or crate all day...on 4th of July!!!Life of Riley may have had two serious incidents, but I understand even businesses make mistakes. (That doesn’t excuse life of Riley for the death of one dog and the trauma caused to another in those two incidents). But Cleverdog didn’t abandon these dogs by mistake on 4th of July, this the norm for them. I don’t get how other dog owners are ok with this kind of treatment of their dogs.I had originally scheduled my dog to stay there for two nights, but had a family member pick him up after one night. Because I couldn’t take watching my dog be stuck in a kennel for damn near 24 hours. I can do that at home for free, instead of $50 a night at Cleverdog. Of course my dog will not be crated at home for 24 hours. So I made arrangements to have my dog looked after for what was suppose to be his second day at Cleverdog.My dog was taught well by his mother not to relieve himself where he sleeps. So as soon as my dog came back home from Cleverdog, he was finally able to go and relieved himself like if he had been holding it in for 24 hours!Do not board your dog here. The bad reviews you see for this place are mostly about their grooming service, but it might as well be about their boarding services too.

We feel extremely lucky to have found Cleverdog! I toured several local doggie daycares. Cleverdog was by far the most pleasant--the building is well-ventiliated, and the dogs are really happy. The staff are caring and attentive, and our pup LOVES getting to play here. Cleverdog is also very reasonably priced, which was a great bonus. We bring our dog 5 days a week and have been very satisfied. Highly recommended!

I have been taking my 10-yr old Westie to Cleverdog for over 10 years and not only do they take impeccable care of my little dog, they totally went above and beyond in terms of making sure she was happy and healthy. She got sick while I was in Hawaii and they not only sensed that she wasn't feeling well, they took her to not the closest vet in Silver Spring but to her vet in Laurel Maryland. They also paid for the visit and made sure she had proper meds and food while she was recouperating. They even took her out on car rides to lift her spirits. LOVE LOVE LOVE Cleverdog.

When I brought my dog in for grooming the staff was friendly but they did not listen to what I asked for and cut her coat much shorter then I wanted. The cut is also very uneven and she even has a bald patch on her belly. For what I paid I am disappointed in the results and I will probably not go back.
