A large selection of kitties of all kinds. Warm and friendly staff. I had to visit several times before my kitty picked me and I adopted him, but they were so patient with me. All of my questions and concerns were addressed. The pet fee includes shots and neutering/spaying, plus some toys and treats! You have to fill out an application and be approved before you are allowed to handle the cats. It is well worth the wait. I hope that more people adopt from Caroline County Humane Society. They truly care about animals!

I had to put my dog of 11 yrs down. She was all I had with me. The staff from the front desk, the nurse, and other staff guided me thru the whole process. While it was hard, my dog passed peacefully and she wasn't in any pain. Thank you to the whole team they are AMAZING 👏🏾 🤩

Two kitties from the humane society. All tired out from playing together. We just got the tuxedo cat last week and he has become best buddies with our 3-year-old (who we picked up during COVID times). Purr Face has been renamed Legolas, Lego for short. The folks that work at the humane society are amazing! They work so hard to keep the little critters happy. And now one of those critters is making my family happy!

Seems to be a lot of clutter outside and inside. I wonder how healthy it is for the animals being so close to the Waste Management facility. Star was very efficient and polite and didn't hesitate to give me what I needed for my dog. She provided excellent service!

Adopting Koa from the Caroline County Humane Society was one of the best decisions I have made in my entire life! Thank you so much to the wonderful staff and volunteers who took care of him and nursed him back to health. Despite being misunderstood and overlooked for months you could see the good in him. I wish we would of found each other sooner! Thank you for all that you do for all of the animals that come through your doors. Please adopt, volunteer, and donate to this amazing little shelter. Five stars will never be enough.

I inquired about a dog named Tyson on petfinder that was located at CCHS. Within an hour I received a call from Donna giving me more information on him and what the next steps would be for adoption. We set up a time to do a meet and greet with our kids and current dog who we also rescued from a shelter. today was the meet and greet and everything went so great. Donna and Hailey are some of the sweetest / informative people I have ever met! The entire adoption process was a breeze and we got to bring our sweet boy home today! As soon as we got home we gave him a tour of his new home along with some treats. He immediately found his food and water bowls and he has made himself right at home already. Rosie is so excited to have a friend and can’t wait to be able to play with Tyson! Tyson is currently napping in his crate and loving his new home so far !!!!Thank you CCHS!!!!💕💕💕💕

The whole point of a rescue is to rescue animals in need and find them good homes. You found a dog who’s owner has been searching for him and who has a home. The owner is desperately trying to get him back. Why are you keeping him?? Give Smokey/Parker back to his mom. He’s not going to get any better cooped up in a kennel or taking chances with complete strangers. He already has a home! You’re putting another pit in danger for literally no reason. It’s completely cruel and unnecessary what you’re doing to both that poor dog and his owner. The photo with the hard flooring is a picture from the owner. You can NOT deny that is the same dog. The markings are all the same! The fact that you claimed the owner was mistaken is ridiculous. On top of the fact that her statements about him being neutered and knowing certain tricks can be confirmed. Stop playing games.

Was interested in a pup, filled out an application, few days later I get a call back with no information, just saying to give them a call back. Meanwhile, the dog I was interested in became unavailable on their site. So figured I was the one they picked to adopt. RETURNED their call, just for them to tell me the dog was already adopted. You couldn't have said that in the voicemail? Waste of my time and got my hopes up. Thanks.

They care with everything they have and beyond. Donate anything from supplies to services, volunteer.....money is not the only thing the shelter needs but it helps as do the many other items. Money they dont have to spend on daily function can be used for treatment of animals which is a major expense. Help your neighbor if they are struggling so they may keep their pet. Report abuse. The shelter is a haven but it takes a village.

Scruffy had a large tumor. It had been removed surgically once. Unfortunately it grew back. I hesitate to put pictures online. It was past gross. You couldn't cover it with a bandage. Scruffy was in obvious pain, blind and having mobility issues. Vet reached a point where there were no options. It was not an easy option.Scruffy spent last few months on 1st floor where my bedroom was. He couldn't get upstairs. His navigation was like a slow speed bumper car.Caroline County Humane allowed us to be present with Scruffy. And yet though he is gone. We still find his "gifts" scattered throughout house & in my 99 Dodge Ram Pickup.

I could tell right from the start that the people here we're here because they loved the animals . We got there late but every one was very accommodating and showed us the available dogs . Clark was in with his mom and two sisters but when I approached the pen he turned and came over to me and I knew he was the one .Clark is a lot smaller then I wanted but has captured my heart so completely that I just can't imagine him out of my life . He is so calm and loving and funny and I could go one and on but I am so thankful that the people there waited for us without complaint. When we picked him up everyone came out to say goodbye and I could tell they really cared. Thanks so much , I love my dog.

Horrible place. My husband and I went to adopt a cat on Monday. My husband fell in love with a long term cat. They wouldn't let us adopt that day because one of our cats was expired on their rabies and they had to look into our application, which we understood. We got an appointment the next day to get her rabies. The "adoption coordinator" called my husband the next day. When he called her back the receptionist claimed she was busy and would have her call my husband back. We never heard from her so we went to the shelter later that day. When we got in the adoption coordinator said she had found all these cats under our name. We tried explaining that they were not all of our cats, we worked at a shelter for four years and so when people in my immediate family adopted, it always went under my name. She then claimed she would call my husband the next day because she had more calls she had to make. Of course she never called, my husband called her. When he asked her about the status of the application, she at first claimed we couldn't adopt because we had too many cats. When he told her we only had two, she changed it up to yea but you want to adopt two more. He then informed her we were only adopting one. She then changed it to, yea but you already have two cats and a one year old so I think we're going to pass. I thought it was pretty ignorant because my husband was really looking forward to adopting that cat and it's not her place to tell us how many cats we should adopt. She also didn't even have a legitimate reason for denying us from adopting.I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone.

Hi, everyone just wanted to come on here and give this place 1 star.. and if it was possible i would give them 0 stars. Cassidy Burch has been missing her dog and this place has her dog. She has photos & proof that this is her dog. They had posted the dog Smokey up for adoption under the name “Parker”. This dog Smokey has a family, a loving family and they are not willing to give her dog back. They are trying to make her “adopt” her own dog with no guarantee of her getting Smokey back. EVERYONE please help get this baby boy home to his family!

May I direct you to their Facebook page and the poor woman trying to get her dog back, can PROVE it's her dog, and still being gold she can't have him back. First he's up for adoption and then he's suddenly got a medical issue so he's in the care of their vet. What is wrong with you people? Have some compassion! It's CLEARLY her dog!

Although I greatly appreciate what this shelter does and the great effort that the vast majority of the staff put forth there is a glaring issue. I found the absolutely perfect dog for myself there and filled out the application. Days went by with no information. I called and was told it's being reviewed. I went to the shelter and hung out for an hour or so with the dog I was head over heels for. Was told yet again that the application is being reviewed. A couple days later I see via Facebook that the dog had been adopted by another family. I was devastated and went to the shelter to find out why I wasn't chosen and why I was never contacted in any way. I also checked with the references I had listed on the application who had also not been contacted. I was told I was denied because of another female dog in my house. I don't have a other dog. In fact I have no other pets. On the application I listed a dog I had adopted several years ago with my ex wife who lives with my ex wife. A simple phone call would have cleared that up. In addition after being eingtold I was denied and why zero effort was made to help find another dog. Frankly the lack of communication and apparent laziness of the current director sickens me. The exorbitant length of time reviewing applications is ridiculous, especially given that it appears nothing was really done to review it other than skim it over briefly and set it aside. I understand the need to be sure animals are placed in a safe and fitting environment, however the methods used need to be reviewed and streamlined. My previous dealings with this shelter were spectacular and I was very pleased with every phase of them. This time however the current director seriously tanked on her job and needs to put in the time and effort required to do the job correctly, not just enough to get by. I hope that when her tenure is over that the next director can get the shelter operation back to where it previously was.

If I could leave zero stars I would. This place found a missing dog, renamed him and posted him for adoption. But when the owner came forward immediately after seeing her dog, they denied her her dog. Told her to apply for possibly adopting him. They are removing and blocking comments and messages mentioning Cassidy and her dog. It’s disgusting how a place could be so cruel and refuse to reunite a family just to make a buck. SHAMEFUL. DO NOT SUPPORT THEM.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. We will start this off by this place picks up animals that have homes, rename them, and then put them up for adoption. If they took your dog, guess what? You have to fill an adoption form with a chance of you NOT being guaranteed that you will get your animal back. Horrible place, horrible people, should honestly get sued for theft and for being money hungry people.

Absolute terrible place for animals. The staff has incredibly rude customer service and they have no shred of kindness towards animals. They mistreat anyone and anything that walks through their doors. The place is an absolute dumpster fire. Hopefully they clean house or go under because they're awful at what they do. Save your money and go elsewhere

The staff can be friendly, SOME are knowledgeable about how to do their job, regardless of it's a paid or volunteer position. The reason I'm giving them 2 stars is because I've seen people want an animal that they KNEW and filed an application for, only to be told one thing-and then the animal gets placed with someone else. This kind of stuff infuriates me to no end. There are some days that I hope the animal goes to a good home because they are in and out of the shelter rather quickly so I get suspicious. I don't agree with how they do some things-seems rather shady to me. I guess every "business" has its day/days. However here lately I personally wouldn't adopt from here-I'll go elsewhere and I'll tell my friends/family to do the same.

I went to adopt a cat. They said the fees were waived because there's too many cats (there's so many that the room is filled completely and they have cages full of cats all over with more at a local petco). I filled out the form two days ago and gave it to them. On the form I put that I would look into declawing the cat (since I didn't know anything about it and it's one of their questions so I needed to get more info on it). They called my grandmother and told her that I was going to be denied because I put yes and they wouldn't read the "I will look into it" answer. We cleared it up and they said they would look over the application again. It's been the second day and they haven't called. You can clearly see they don't want to give up their cats when I would gladly give one a great home and take care of it.
