We just transferred care of all of our dogs and cats to PFAH. We were so happy to continue care with Dr. J. Matteson who recently joined PFAH. Our first visit was last week with our dogs (3) for their annual check up and vaccinations. The facility was large and clean, the front office staff were very competent and courteous. The exam room was large as well, and the vet tech that assisted, Lynn, was wonderful with the dogs. Very pleased with PFAH 😊

This is why I will never go back to Prince Frederick Animal Hospital… Poor bed side manner. Very non-compassionate, ESP Dr. Wright and one of the last Vet Techs that I saw. Instead of encouraging words they gave me looks of death, and sorry I hope she lives her last few months. Any questions I had were not answered. I asked for a new cone, never got one. They asked me if I even had enough money for surgery bc I asked a quote of the current charges of the tests they wanted to do. They were asked to remove the mammary gland masses off of my dog, which depended on her kidney levels. They checked her kidney levels- they were high. THEY decided to open up my nine year old dog to spay her then call me and tell me she wouldn’t make it through the surgery. Sewed her back up and her kidneys failed even more and the cancer grew even worse!!! Why? But why! Please don’t go here with an older dog. My dog was sick, but she had some time.Dr. Wright is the WORST

Love this animal hospital! Our dogs have seen multiple doctors at this location and each one has been kind and knowledgeable. The receptionists are very helpful and have been able to schedule our dogs same day or next day for time sensitive concerns. They are absolutely worth the 40 minute drive for us!

We were prompted for an appointment due to a sick pup and Jenna helped us get in immediately. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. We were seen with very little wait time. Our girl went home with a few things to make her feel better and was showing signs of improvement within 24 hours. We can't be more thankful to have PFAH and it's staff to help us care for our girl, when we need it! Thank you!

On Feb 8th we had to let our dog of 15 years cross the rainbow bridge. I contacted the office that morning and they were able to see us right away, all of my animals have been treated here and the doctors are great so I am not saying anything negative about that aspect. However the day we went in I never felt so much like just a customer then I did that day, for anyone who has had to go thru this you will understand why I writing this review, we were with our dog in the room they gave her something to relax her and left the room to let us have our final few minutes with her so obviously me and my wife were very upset as we were saying good bye to our girl, when thru another door came a lady with a credit card machine in her hand and wanted me to pay the bill while we were standing there crying saying our final good bye and then handed me a receipt as to say thank you come again like we were just another customer. I found this to be in very poor taste and un compassionate on the staffs part. We never heard anything else from them nobody followed up to see how we were doing as animal owners all know this is like losing a child and is very hard when you have to do this, I received a phone call from her former Vet’s office and also received a card from their office staff which I appreciated and made me think maybe I made a mistake by switching hospitals which I only did because it was more convenient for me. So like I said doctors here are great so I am not bashing them but think their staff may need some training on how to handle sensitive situations such as these and to be honest I may think twice on future visits.

My experiences with Prince Frederick Animal Hospital have all been positive, and have affirmed my feelings that every Vet and every Staffer there truly love and care for animals. Covid-19 has thrown their practice for a loop, but they have come up with processes which allow care without endangering animals or their owners. They have always been responsive and have taken dogs immediately when there was an emergency. When age and infirmity have made it necessary to give me and my dogs the peace we deserve, they show great and heartfelt empathy. I am totally confident that this Veterinary Practice will be the only one I need to ensure the health of my dogs.

Our nineteen year old cat had a scratch that had become infected. When my husband called that Monday morning we were able to get an appointment for him that same day. Two weeks later and he's doing great! The vet really takes the time to explain everything to you. I highly recommend Prince frederick animal hospital.

I recently took my cat to Prince Frederick Animal Hospital and was very pleased with the services we received. The vet who took care of us was kind, professional, and efficient. She answered my many questions and never made us feel she was rushing to get to her next patient. The attendants and front desk workers were all very pleasant and did their jobs well. Going to the vet with a cat is never easy, but the workers here turn it into a pleasant experience.

I had a very sick puppy and had not found a permanent vet yet. My daughters recommended PF Animal Hospital. They were booked when I called , put me on a quick hold and fit my pup Ginger in that day. They were very kind and concerned with her. The Tech was great (Sorry cannot recall her name ) and Dr. Jamie Kimball was awesome. They took very good care of her and patiently explained things to me . They prescribed medicine , soft food for digestive issues , gave her IV fluids, a shot for nausea and performed necessary tests. What impressed me most was I received a call the next morning asking how she was doing . They advised hours they were open the next day in case we needed them! Highly recommend this office. They will be our forever Vet for Ginger for sure!

I love PFAH and I trust them with my own dogs, the dogs in my rescue, and I have referred so many to them. If they could treat people, they would be my PCP. The doctors and the staff are so compassionate - they treat my dogs like they are their only clients. I can't say enough good things about them. I only wish I had discovered them years earlier.

I have depended on Prince Frederick Animal Hospital for quality animal care for over 35 years. At every stage I have found the vets and their staff to be well-informed, compassionate in their treatments, and very communicative about my pets’ condition and what would be best for them. They have provided care even on days when they were very busy, have been very clear about expected outcomes and what I should do to keep my dogs as healthy as possible. When old age takes its toll, they have provided a caring and supportive staff to make that painful transition as gentle as possible for me and my beloved pets. I recommend them highly without reservation.

Within an hour and 10 minutes, the staff at PFAH had scheduled my cat an urgent visit, treated him, and had us checked out. Not only were they efficient and kind but I felt their prices were reasonable overall and especially given the last-minute nature of the appointment and multiple treatments my pet received. This is where I will continue to bring my pets from now on!

I love this place. They were amazing when my older dog got sick, they were really good with him. When his son became sick they rushed him in trying to be sure it wasn’t the same issues. I will always highly recommend this vet office.

$40 for a nail clipping for my dog and his was bleeding all in my car. Crazy expensive compared to other places we have been. Normally 10-15 dollars. Staff was nice though. There were lots of dogs which made it hard in the lobby. Wish they put you in rooms right away when you come in.

Prince Frederick Animal Hospital helped me get through the incredibly tough final months of my cat's life. Everyone was incredibly kind and patient with me even as I was struggling to hold myself together. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone who lives nearby.

We've been clients of Prince Frederick Animal Hospital for over 27 years. We've trusted the Veterinarians and support staff with all of our Jack Russell Terriers. We now recently have 2 Special Needs Jack Russells that Doctor Laura Fletcher cares for. Our Jacks and us, love her so very much! She's top notch in her profession! Our Rebel needed a Specialized Surgical Procedure and Dr Fletcher knew exactly whom to send us to. We've had to come into PFAH for emergencies when Rebel had an allergic reaction and our other Jacks were bitten by a Copperhead Snake. The Hospital went into action and treated them right away! Thank you, Prince Frederick Animal Hospital, for taking such great care of our Jack Russell Terriers! We love you!

This was our first visit and we were very happy with the experience. My baby girl (cat) Sansa has not had an easy first year and Prince Frederick Animal Hospital treated her and us amazing. They took fantastic care of her. They also were very willing to help us with our limited budget to make sure she got the best care. The doctors and all the staff are rooted in our community and understand not only our pets, but also the micro environments in which these animals work and play. They are always responsive and remember our pets as individuals! The level of professional experience and knowledge is always high and clearly evident. I've met almost all the doctors over the years, and all are superb. And one can expect everything from wellness care to boarding to major surgery to be quickly delivered with the most focused attention. Plus, the premises is a fun place to be, and I always look forward to a visit!

I highly recommend Prince Frederick Animal Hospital! My dog has a high level of separation anxiety and it can be displayed with some aggression. The staff at PFAH took their time with him and really seemed to care about his well-being and mine. I definitely recommend using them!

My first experience with them could not have gone better. I noticed my Guinea pig’s jaw line looked like a golf ball and by the feel of it, I assumed it was an abscess. Sure enough, it was. They were able to get me in, the same day, to drain it and send her home with antibiotics. They were quick, friendly and even raved about how friendly Sunni was. Shortly after this visit, Sunni decided to do some gymnastics and crack both of her front teeth. I scheduled an appointment online the night before, super easy by the way, and when I called the next morning they were even able to get me in sooner based on the severity. Again, amazing staff, quick to get checked in and called back and reassured by their doctors that everything would be alright. She’s doing an outstanding job recovering due to their instructions. 10/10 would recommend. Especially for exotic!!

I'm writing this review on behalf of my parents, who were recently visiting us from out of town. During their stay my dog and their elderly chihuahua had an altercation over food that resulted in their chihuahua bleeding. My husband and father rushed him to the PF Animal Hospital, which was the closest veterinary care. Thankfully he was seen immediately. However, the diagnosis that followed is extremely concerning. They advised the chihuahua had a partially collapsed lung and that his liver appeared large and calcified. Although unrelated to the injury, the veterinarian advised my parents it was likely cancer. They were devastated after being told their beloved dog had a partially collapsed lung and now - cancer. The veterinarian released him to the ER animal clinic in Annapolis for additional treatment. Upon further observation, the ER veterinarian advised my parents that he did not have a partially collapsed lung. She summized that the veterinarian at PF Animal Hospital misdiagnosed based on a fold of skin on the xray. Shocked- my parents asked about the cancer diagnosis. The ER veterinarian asked, 'what cancer' and then respectfully disagreed with the liver cancer diagnosis. Their chihuahua was released with a diagnosis of a broken nose and nothing more. My parents also took him to their regular veterinarian for a third opinion. He too agreed. No cancer. No collapsed lung. Please be careful where you take your pets for care and always be willing to obtain a second opinion. We will never recommend Prince Frederick Animal Hospital.

So we've been dealing with pretty severe skin allergies with our 11 year old pup for quite a while with no significant result. We recently moved to the area and decided to get her seen by Prince Frederick Animal Hospital and I'm so glad we did! The doctor took her time to talk about all our options and what we've done in the past that we weren't happy with and from there we decided on a plan of action..... My sweet old girls skin looks the best it has in years and she's finally comfortable!!!! I'm so grateful and impressed with this office!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

From the first call in making the appointment up until I drove away after the appointment, the staff was very accommodating and patient with answering any questions I had. Due to Covid, I was unable to accompany my dog on her appointment adventure. The vet did take the time during the appointment to explain what was being done and what needed to be done further. She explained every little detail as well as answered all of my questions. She didn't rush through the conversation. It really put me at ease that they really care for their patients. The staff was exceptional as well. Very friendly over the phone and again answered all my questions. They were all so sweet. Thanks again for making my baby feel as she is part of your family!

This business has been reported to BBB. BBB representative has made multiple attempts to get a response from PF Animal Hospital, and as of this moment this business never responded back to BBB. This tells you that what they did was wrong and they know it.Any conversation you have with Dr Bowen, make sure you record it. Dr. Bowen lies and does not keep her verbal agreement. Also, don’t ever drop off your pet without getting a detailed estimate from this business. Expect to pay double if you do that. They don’t have prices listed in their release forms so dr Bowen’s response will be; we don’t have prices on the release forms and we don’t provide an estimate to all the clients. At the time of booking the appointment and drop off we said that the procedure will be around $250, but you signed the release form, so you have to pay $497.85.Note: Dr Bowen lied when she said they don’t provide estimates to their clients, because that day I received a call 3 hrs later from the clinic stating that they forgot to give us the estimate form before we signed the release form. So the girl went over the prices on the phone and because they had already done the blood test we had to pay even though we were told it was part of the procedure and no price was ever given to us at the time of signing the release form.Again, I can’t stress this enough, do not believe a word that comes out of Dr Bowen, ask to record your conversation with her so she knows she can’t lie and turn around not honor HER agreement put forth. With us it was, if you pay $366.90 (that included everything minus the blood test which we were told it was free when we signed the release form), you can take your pup but we will not see him again as a patient. Which I agreed to without any hesitation and paid the $366.90. Two months later we received an invoice for the remaining balance + late fees.As far as vets working at this place go, our pup is young so I can’t comment how good or bad they are with serious illnesses, the actual vet (not Dr Bowen) that did the neutering seemed to have done a good job as there was no complications after the surgery.
