Beautiful location in charming, quaint Oxford -- the Inn is historical, but I didn't realize that meant we would have no hot water for bathing for the entire weekend we stayed there. Paying over $220 a night- I expected more. The bathrooms are in need of total remodeling -- looks like the last time they were touched was the 1960s. Very disappointed as we reached out to the hotel and never heard back.

We did not stay at the inn but we ate there. Mrs Claus said it was the best Crab cake Sandwich she has ever eaten (and she was born and raised on the Jersey Shore). We both absolutely loved the crab soup. We are crab soup at 5 different locations on this trip. The soup at the Inn hands down was the best. Great atmosphere and with tons of history. Santa and Mrs Claus give it 4 👍👍👍👍 up!!!

This review is for dinner at the Inn's Tavern restaurant. We are staying in Easton but wanted a special location for our anniversary dinner, so we made an online reservation and drove down to Oxford for dinner at the Inn. The drive was lovely, and Oxford is a quaint, charming little town. Our dinner was a 5 star experience. We ordered a drink and a glass of wine, and we shared the Eastern Shore crab appetizer, which is lump crab wrapped in paper thin cucumber slices. The delicate presentation is gorgeous and it is very tasty. My husband enjoyed his fish and chips. I had the shrimp curry, which was outstanding. I almost licked the plate to get the last bit of the sauce. Our server was pleasant and the food came out promptly. We shared a piece of Smith Island cake for dessert, and then we walked down to the water to take in the sunset. I could not have been happier with the restaurant choice. There are lots of restaurants in Easton, but the Inn is a historic gem and the food was so good.Food & drinks: Excellent food

Upping my review to 5 stars - the experience I had at the Inn’s restaurant was excellent! Great service and amazing food. Presentation and ambiance also contribute to the experience and make it feel authentic. Would definitely return in the future. Hope to one day experience the Inn as a guest in one of the rooms! Photo is of the crab spring roll with avocado and grapefruit.

Quaint historic inn. Views of the water. Convenient rooms, restaurant, and bar all in one location. Our room was spacious but the bathroom was super tiny but usable. The negative was that they have a problem w getting hot water to the rooms. In the morning I ran the hot water for ten minutes and it never got hot and so I took a very cold shower. Our friends were in another location in the Inn and they didn't have hot water either.Rooms: Rooms were all different since this is an historic inn. And because of that please dont expect modern amenities ... just enjoy the atmosphere. But you will have to walk up the stairs to rooms so if you have any issues climbing stairs that is a consideration.Walkability: Good location to walk to everything in town. We were going to the taste of Cambridge, so it was a great location to come back to after a cold rainy day outside.

The restaurant was very good- food was tasty, service good, very clean. Breakfast was excellent. There was live Irish music which was fun and high quality. The rooms were clean but in sad condition. In need of paint and refurbishment. The sofa was saggy but the bed was comfortable. No housekeeping although clean towels were left on my door. Skelton staff. No tv or hairdryer. It’s a beautiful old building in need of an expensive renovation.iris priced reasonably for the area and Oxford is a wonderful, quiet and historic town in the water.

We had our anniversary dinner at the Inn, while visiting Oxford. Caprese salad was excellent. My softshell crab special was to die for. My husband had a beef shoulder special that was excellent too. Great food and good service. Very nice experience.

This is a very lovely inn for anyone who appreciates period Americana and peaceful coastal settings. We had a very nice mini suite with river views. The hotel is welcoming of dogs and the tavern is good, so I think we will return.

We had our small wedding here in mid May and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Rain meant we had to move the service inside but Elinor couldn’t have been more gracious and accommodating. We reserved the front room and had the ceremony in front of the fireplace, then moved the group to the lobby for champagne and canapés while the crew flipped the room and set the table for dinner for 14. The food (Mark’s menu- worked out with us in advance) was absolutely outstanding, and we gave him a standing ovation when he came to say hi at the end of the meal. Can’t say enough about the service, the food, and the location. A truly wonderful, perfect night made possible by the Robert Morris Inn.

The highlight of our visit was the day spent at the Robert Morris Inn. Just such a delight to experience such history first-hand accompanied by an exquisite meal at the on-premise restaurant. We were ecstatic and can strongly recommend this beautiful and historical inn to anyone seeking a getaway while experiencing such a steeped-in-history location. Bravo!Rooms: Beautifully decorated colonial rooms!Nearby activities: So much to see and do in the area! A ferry to Bellevue. An afternoon in St. Michaels. A walk through historic Easton. Fishing, kayaking, sailing.Walkability: Beautiful surrounding neighborhood makes walkability prime!

We absolutely loved this little jewel of history on the edge of Oxford Beach. Sandra, our server, was so incredibly helpful and very informative.very friendly and happy . The food was delicious, and the desserts were recommended by Sandra and certainly didn't disappoint. We loved our moment of heaven there and very much looking forward to another visit soon .

Room was satisfactory however the bathroom was horrendous. Wallpaper peeling off the wall, shower not in good shape and the entire bathroom was the size of a small closet. For the price charged this was unacceptable.Restaurant and pub were very good. My advice is to stay elsewhere and come here for dinner.

Check your expectations at the door. This is marketed heavily as being the oldest full service inn in the country, and that is exactly what you get. If you are looking for modern amenities then save yourself and the staff the trouble and look elsewhere. If you’re looking for an experience—to stay in a building rich with history, that has been excellently preserved while still meeting modern hygiene and safety standards then keep reading. From the American perspective this inn is absolutely ancient. You will find it very difficult to find buildings in this country that are as old as this one. Keep that in mind as you begin ascending the staircase. When you step into your room, remember that you’re stepping back into a different time. As someone who has worked on old homes since he was 10 years old, I can tell you that building materials will speak to you if you listen. Take the time to appreciate the wide plank floors. They ripple and creek because the foundation has settled into the earth for over 300 years. The wood has been breathing moisture in and out with the climate for centuries. The bricks in the fireplace were handmade and shipped to the colonies from England as ballasts for newly build ships. The molding thick with countless layers of paint to suit every imaginable purpose a house of this size could accommodate over its many years. This house feels the way an old tree or a castle feels, a relic of the past who’s heyday has long since past, still standing against all odds. You’re staying in a living museum so keep that in mind and enjoy it as such.

Very charming, great food, lovely town. There is only one annoying thing. The manager told us on the first day that gratuity was not included with guest complimentary breakfast. Ok, fine, but he reminded us every day, and even the server reminded us. This was very tacky. We are always generous tippers to a fault, but one should earn the tip not ask for the tip. Try highlighting the menu where it clearly states "gratuity not included." And yes, I tipped the server.

Have had great experience staying there over many years, but this time we got a room that left a lot to be desired. Several things in room 6 in disrepair. About the size of a postage stamp. Rooms 1 and 2 are the best. Have had great experience there previously. The restaurant always has great food and service3-11-23In response to RMI response- (which is SEVEN MONTHS AFTER OUR REVIEW!!!) ;Well--- We know the owners pretty well and as I mentioned- we have had some great experiences at the Inn over MANY years. We even drive there from DC JUST FOR DINNER! We know the rooms pretty well too except for the last one we stayed at (room 6) for our anniversary in July, which, as we learned, is hands down, the worst room! Rooms 1 and 2 are the best for staying in the original section. But, this time, we just wanted to grab a reservation at the last minute and didn't make arrangements for our favorite rooms. But, I can tell you that room 6 is NOT constantly being improved! Not by any stretch of the imagination. From the condition of the wallpaper to the shower handles to the soap dispenser that was hanging by a thread, to vacuuming spots being missed. Whatever pictures you take of the rooms do NOT show the problem areas!! We took pictures too AND mentioned our issues when we were there. I also know for a fact that you had significant staff shortages and linen supply issues during that time. We actually should have received a discount on our stay.As I mentioned, usually we know exactly what room to ask for. We just didn't this time. We have loved the Inn for many years as well as the staff and restaurant!Next time, we just know to make sure we get the same rooms that we have so enjoyed previously and hopefully, the service problems you encountered as a result of Covid are a thing of the past.Best wishes!

We ate inside and they seated us in the very dark part of the restaurant when you first enter the restaurant. I would recommend sitting outside or in the lighter part inside. For the price I think the food was ok, but nothing super special. I got the Special of the day and the Halibut was on the dry side but the veggies were cooked well. The chocolate mousse was the best thing I had. For the price I would’ve expected more. Cool location and place though.

For two years in a row I have visited the inn for a few days in May. I chose to stay in a "cottage" room since stairs are difficult for me and the cottage rooms have only a few steps. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed and a large window looking out on Tred Avon River and the ferry landing (Oxford-Bellevue Ferry.) I enjoyed watching the craft on the river and sunset over the water. I took my meals in the Tavern dining area and thought the food was good and with sufficient variety. Desserts include sticky toffee pudding and Smith Island multi-layered cake. One evening I had the roasted chicken breast with vegetables and thought the sauce was delicious. It even made the brussels sprouts tasty and I usually don't like brussels sprouts. The day I left I stopped in Easton for lunch and realized I had left my opal ring in the cottage. I called the inn, the office manager found my ring and held it in the office until I finished lunch and returned to get it. She refused any reward. Thanks to all the staff for a very pleasant stay. (A friend who lives near Annapolis joined me for lunch one day. Dining outside on the verandah is also an option.)

The location and building are superb in this historic Oxford building. I got the avocado fries with greens and my spouse got the 1/2 Reuben sandwich with cream of crab soup. Both of us liked our food a lot. The waitress was great. Here comes why I gave 4, not 5 stars. It was way overpriced and the tables and boothseats were almost what I would expect from a fast food dine-in area. The restaurant also had a musty smell to it, like many historic buildings in the surrounding areas which was not appetizing. We plan to come back though, to try their desserts!

We stayed in the cottage which was clean and well appointed. Staff were all most helpful. Bar was relaxing. Breakfast and dinner service was excellent. Ate each twice. Food was superb! The menu changes seasonally. See my pics. Chef Salter puts a lot of care into his menu. If we could've, we would've stayed more nights just to get through each item on the dinner menu. Specials on our second night were rockfish, short ribs, and PEI moules. Fabulous! Sticky toffy pudding and pavlova (Eaton mess) desserts my husband declared as authentic. We loved the darkened pub side of the house. Very English. We're looking forward to coming back soon and hopping on that ferry. Thank you to everyone at Robert Morris Inn.

The staff was very friendly. Breakfasts were delicious. We did not get a chance to eat in the restaurant, but the chef/owner has won awards. There is a cozy tavern downstairs. Be prepared---- this is a VERY old building, so don't expect fancy room amenities. The property is very well maintained. There is Wifi, but no TV. The age lends charm. As a very old and historic house, of course there is a resident ghost, but we didn't get to meet him! Maybe next time..The location is beautiful.

The food was great ant the service was better. My husband enjoyed the fish and chips and my organic salad with homemade dressing was awesome. The grilled asparagus was so tasty. But best of all was the caramelized pecan pie with vanilla ice cream. Our server, Marguerite, was very friendly and attentive as was the rest of the staff. Great experience and we'll be back!

Wonderful little historic inn located in Oxford, MD. Great views of the Tred Avon River. Rooms were very comfortable but quite funky. This inn was built in 1710, so don't expect modern comfort and construction. Floors were uneven. The bathroom a converted closet. But, that is what gives it its charm. It is not cookie cutter. And, the food is amazing. The breakfasts are included and there is a wide variety. The dinners are wonderful as well (in fact,we ended up eating there twice). There was a guitarist playing the next night to add to the atmosphere. Simply everything about the place was enjoyable and relaxing. If you are looking or a place to go to get away from the rush, I highly recommend coming here.

We went to the Inn as part of a group (Yacht Club) event. The food and service were very good. Instead of asking us individually what we wanted, the main dish had some tender flank steak, rock fish fillet, and pasta casserole. All the selections were tasty.
