Had dinner here last night and the place was jumping. We ordered a bunch of stuff. The highlights were the Kicking Shrimp, Hush puppies with cinnamon butter and crab dip with pretzel bread. The pretzel bread was terrific.Had the jambalaya which was great and could only finish half. The grouper sandwich was also great. I drank for dessert with the peanut butter drink which was very cream forward and delicious.Service was excellent and warm. Saw the owner as well, who was incredibly professional and courteous.

Birthday dinner with my wife. She had the chicken bruschetta pasta, and I had the braised short rib. We both enjoyed the crab Dib with pretzel bread (exceptional). We got extra bread with that. Chicken was tender and pasta cooked perfectly. My ribs were a bit on the tough side so will go with the burger next time. Risotto very good. We ended with their beignets. Good grief, they were amazing. We will be back for sure.

We had dinner over the weekend in NB and the food is always good here at Hook & Vine. Service and atmosphere has always been great as well.Cute little spot near the water and other entertainment. The Coastal Cobb Salad was so fresh and so tasty! I highly recommend this because it has bacon, chicken AND shrimp.Parking: Depending on the day or evening it can get busy in North beach. You may at most need to park a small block or two away if you can’t find anything close or right up front. It’s a busy little town especially as the weather gets nicer, so it is to be expected.

My wife and I love this place. We go every couple weeks. The food is fantastic, best crab dip anywhere on the bay with the best pretzel bread you’ll ever have. Shrimp and grits is to die for. The drink menu is creative and expansive. And the service is beyond amazing, just the friendliest most caring group of staff. Best food in all of Calvert county, we cannot recommend it enough.

Went for Fourth of July dinner before the fireworks. Super friendly staff. Our waiter was also the bartender and he was doing a stellar job at keeping up with both. You could tell the wait staff was looking out for each other. Excellent service. The food was delightful too. I got the Bacon Bourbon Salmon with fries & a salad. My partner got Shrimp Tacos and fries. The only downside was that the fries tasted a little cold. However the flavor of the entrees, good drinks from the bar, and the excellent service more than made up for it. Would definitely go again.

A cute bungalow dwelling turned into a restaurant.A larger porch accommodates outside dining.Bruschetta is tasty without drowning in balsamic. The Berry Good Salad served with spinach, blueberries, blackberries, mandarin oranges, dried cranberries, candied pecans, is DELICIOUS. I could eat that every day - and it's perfectly paired with their house vinaigrette. The firecracker shrimp has a nice tempora coating and was cooked to perfection. The wings paired with their house sauce called "Hook" were very good! Meat was moist and had a slightly crispy skin. The "hook" sauce is slightly sweet and spicy. Not overly so.The chicken fingers had a crunchy coating, and it's a generous size. My husband stated their chicken was a little dry in the middle, but they're HUGE pieces. Might have had a challenging time cooking them since they were so big?

We were in town for a wedding & discovered this adorable kitchen bar out of whim. We are so glad we did because it was a wonderful experience and will be back the next time we’re in North Beach. This is a small, cozy restaurant with a fantastic ambiance. But most importantly the food and service is absolutely top-notch! Monica and her team will make you feel extremely welcomed & have a great time while enjoying a solid meal. The crab cake was hearty and full of crab meat, and the crab dip was the prefect blend of Cajun and creaminess. Endless drink menu with your classic drafts, wines, and fun cocktails. You will not be disappointed with Hook & Vine!

First time visiting after driving by for years and the food and service did not disappoint. The crab cakes mussels, brussel sprouts, fish and chips, burger and drinks were amazing. We did have to deal with some flies flying around which is why the atmosphere wasn't 5 stars, but again the food and service was amazing. I highly recommend and will definitely be back!!

3 of my girlfriends and I came here as soon as they opened. We ordered shrimp& grits, jambalaya and Cajun pasta. All the dishes were delicious. The shrimp and grits were a bit different than what I've had in the past because it was not a white creamy sauce but tasted delicious nonetheless. Our server Krista was amazing!!! their ipa draft excellent adventure was literally an excellent adventure!!! I would definitely come back here with my other friends that were not able to join us today

The food was amazing! The service friendly. Our Family was just taking a little 1hr adventure to see a new beach and we found this gem. It's totally worth the car ride to have this experience. If you order the wing get the Hook an Vine sauce. It is legit. The cocktail menu is classic and superb. We will be head back here again.

They said they close at 9?? But no they close at 8?? My husband and I went there to celebrate are 30yr anniversary!! We were going to Annapolis, but we wanted to give to the locals!! I then called and the manager said they were short staff!! No the bartenders had no one sitting at there bar!! So never again!! Nobody wants to work!! Hope the owners know their manager is turning away customers!!

Love Hook and Vine, the service was above average that alone would make me want to come back. The food was great, I really really enjoyed the crab soup. Steak and cake was on point. I didn't have room for dessert but went for it anyway, it was worth it. Trust me if you should happen to be in North Beach give them a try.

Get it to go! The food is excellent but service has become painfully slow. The servers are gems and ensure that drinks are filled regularly. The atmosphere is amazing and if you ever need to cater anything, please consider this local favorite. The shrimp and grits will change your life. Take out is a better option until the service issues are resolved. They do a wonderful job of prioritizing appetizers but usually don’t have adequate staff to ensure timely delivery of meals. We waited 40 minutes for burgers and fries.

We decided on this place last minute for dinner and walked in without a reservation, but staff was very accommodating and only waited 20 minutes for a table on a busy Saturday night. The food and drinks were absolutely amazing! The chicken and sauce was so well cooked and the flavor was so great! Wide variety of alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks. Can’t wait till I’m back in the area to go again.

Went for first time Easter Sunday. We were very impressed with the food and service. The owner Monica waited on us and we did not know she was the owner until later. Very good unique dishes and very unique great fresh drinks. As I observed the staff, everyone seemed to know their role and what needed to be done. She never had to delegate. Very smooth operation. Definitely going back !!

Went here with the family on the 28th. We have been trying to try more local businesses and heard great things about Hook & Vine. We were not dissapointed at all! The atmosphere was great with wonder decor. The blue glasses used for water really stood out. I ordered the Hot Honey Chicken Sandy and it was delicious. We will be going back to try more items.

I’ve tried to enjoy this place multiple times but the service here is so rude! I’ve had prior experiences but kept giving them a chance because we are limited with local restaurants. Tonight we ordered take out because we were exhausted. Husband ordered a burger rare and it came medium well. I ordered shrimp and grits and basically got an oily soup… with a spoonful of grits. When my husband called to say it looks like jambalaya and not grits we were told they would make us a new entree. Instead they called back and asked what we received and I explaine exactly what happened. The staff then said “oh okay because the way your husband made it sound was you got a different order…well you got what you ordered then and we can just make you grits” not even sounding apologetic or realizing people have kids and now have to drive all the way back so I said just forget it we won’t patron you anymore because honestly the multiple times of dealing with rude staff (again I have stories each time I’ve been here even friends that can attest and have stories) I am just sad that a small local place in a small town chooses to treat customers this way. How hard would it be to at least care about your brand and right a wrong… I’ve had shrimp and grits in New Orleans and never was it an oily mess like this. Picture is of the amount of grits compared to the “soup”.

Great experience, great happy hour specials Monday - Friday 3-6. Got the fish tacos (grouper) and a blackberry mojito. Fish melts in your mouth with an awesome dill/sour cream sauce and fresh pico. Very reasonably priced. Great little spot.

Disclaimer: I do not notify restaurants in advance before my arrival, I do not tell the staff that I am a food reviewer, I do not dress up, and I do not sugarcoat my reviews.Overall: The elderly staff were lacking, the gentlemen on staff were helpful, the fries were seriously lacking, but the burgers were good and worth trying. This restaurant isn't a place I'd go to sit down and eat due to staff issues, but certainly worth getting a burger to go. I am, however, impressed that management takes time to respond to each review on here. The Staff: So my first impression was lacking, entering the front door that is directly closest to the sidewalk and on the front of the building. Upon entering, I was lectured by the elderly staff about how the door located on the side (nearly the back) of the building is the "front" door. After speaking with them, being properly seated, I waited for about 8 minutes until I got the attention of a passing staff member and gave him my order. Not only did the elderly women on staff never take my order, they never once returned to my table and never checked on me; it was a much younger gentlemen who emerged from the kitchen to see if I wanted water while I waited for my "to-go" order. I finally received my food a total of 18 minutes of being at this establishment. The Food: Fries were cold, not drained properly, undercooked, and I didn't really receive many "full size" frize, really just fry fragments that were leftover instead of receiving a fresh batch. This surprised me, especially because of the length of time I waited for this food, I had assumed they would be fresh. Only good thing I can say about them is that they were perfectly salted; not too much, not too little. The burger patty was good sized, had good consistency, held shape pretty well too. The combination of swiss and american cheese with bacon forming an "X" shape across the top was aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Lettuce was placed under the tomato slice and burger meat, to hold in juice, which is an excellent strategy, giving a nice assortment of textures and crunch (if the lettuce is fresh). The bread was sweet and soft, but because it's so aerated, even with the lettuce, the bottom of the burger becomes soggy regardless in less than 3 minutes. Nonetheless, the buns were toasted and that was a good move. The burger meat was cooked precisely to the degree in which I had requested and juicy. Lastly, the randomly assorted fried pickles on top were a nice touch, cooked thoroughly, and added a deserving flair to the overall presentation.
