We stopped by here for some fresh local seafood. This place never disappoints me. We got hush puppies, crabs ,shrimp, and king crab legs. The ultimate feast is expensive but will fill you up. The crabs were well seasoned and tasted fantastic. The king crab legs were well seasoned and very easy to shell. The shrimp were the same and tasted good. The waitress was very attentive and keep the drinks and butter containers filled. We all left here fat and happy. 9 out of 10 starts

Of course crabs are served here. It's a crab house. But the oysters were GREAT! I didn't know what to expect but they were so sweet and delicious. And as it turns out, although the crabs were ok, it was the oysters that was the tables' favorite. We were a group of 9 folks, with 7 from Europe. We were trying to give them something unique to Maryland so crabs was the obvious choice!Like I said, the crabs were good, but it was the oysters that carried the day ❤️. Service was great as was the food. Perfect place to bring friends, family, and guess who have never been to Maryland.

Since May of 2023, I have been in contact with Captain John's Crab House because of several Facebook posts I have viewed. Then, of course, the AI algorithm of Facebook began to show posts and videos as folks posted them. I thought to myself on several occasions, "I have to get there myself to check thus place out and try the food for myself." Several Facebook messages, and 4 months later,after a nuce week at work on a Friday night, my wife and I visited Captain John's Crab House. Seating is 1st come 1st serve with seating outside as well on the patio overlooking the water. Yes, you guessed it. They do not make reservations! As we pulled into the crowded parking lot, I thought to myself, "We may have to visit another place." However, we walked in and were seated almost immediately. They had a buffet bar selection as well as menu options. We chose the menu options as I wanted to try their oysters on the half shell, crab legs, shrimp, and, of course, their Maryland Blue Crabs. I am not a fan of salty food or seafood at all. Sometimes places use just a little too much Old Bay or JoJo's Seafood seasoning. I don't know what this family owned and operated seafood restaurant used to season their seafood with, however I can say to them, "Keep doing what you are doing and keep using what you are using!" The seafood was deliciously seasoned, tasty, and juicy! The oysters on the half shell tasted as if they just caught and shucked them. Full of flavor indeed! Needless to say, in the words of Arnold in the movie "The Terminator," "I'll Be Back!" I guess, in my case, we'll be back because I know my wife will not let me enjoy such deliciousness by myself! I almost forgot, our server was on point and made EXCELLENT Long Island Ice Tea's. Yes, I truly suggest you try one or more for yourself! I had three....

It's a nice place with a beautiful view. Old school and I like that. But adding a charge to use debit card is off-putting and the use of the card machine at the table while the waitress stands there waiting while you are calculating tip is uncomfortable.I am old restaurant worker and she would have had more if management was not dictating amount!Food good but expensive. The jumbo crab cake was not jumbo at all

Crabs were cooked well. They put a ton of rock salt on the crabs after they were cooked. Too much. Made it harder to enjoy the crab. I saw other tables that did not have as much salt on their crab. I think they knew to ask for no salt. Service was ok but our server only checked on us three or four times over 1.5 hours. They could have sold more beers if they visited more. :) It was late on a Sunday though so they may have been wrapping up the day. Overall it was a lovely evening on the water watching a sunset.

😋Oh My... I don't know if it's the fact that I didn't get my crabs all summer but when I finally sat down, it was a celebration 😁and we ordered snow crabs, blue crabs, hush puppies, shrimp and fries. It was 🤩 amazing, the crabs weren't as plumped as they normally were than as if it was the beginning of the season but you have to expect that, it's at the end of the season. But it was a wonderful place to sit at. The family and I went there for my birthday and it was a very nice time. My only concern was there was not much help, there were, I think three waitresses for the whole place and it was pretty busy. So our drinks would be low or down to nothing and we had to seek out to get a refill. The atmosphere was a little cold so the butter for the crabs hardened up very quickly, so there was a couple times we had to ask for extra butter. It seemed like all the waitresses worked together so we may not have had the same waitress the whole time but we tipped according to three waitresses so instead of giving 20% we gave a tip about 40% cuz it was a very pleasant atmosphere, they were all very friendly. It was very lively. It was a comfortable atmosphere, wasn't stressed out. It was a very laid-back relaxed dinner. I would recommend this restaurant for a great crab feast😋

A bit out of the way...but worth the trip!!! We were with close friends and REALLY had a taste for blue crabs...and Captains John's absolutely satisfied the itch! They were running a special, 3 dozen mediums for $99. They were decently sized mediums and tasted great. The service was friendly, but a bit under-staffed, so wait time for a table for four took about 15 minutes. However, once we sat down and ordered, the crabs came out quickly. The restaurant sits right off the boat docks at the marina. The building could use some renovations (ceiling had some water drips...not enough to worry, but enough to be irritating). Overall, relaxed atmosphere and great place to sit and enjoy some tasty blue crabs!

Beware Venezuelan crab!Stopped at Capt Johns market yesterday and picked up a pint of picked lump crabmeat. They bagged it for me and I headed out. Got home and realized they sold me Venezuelan crab, not Chesapeake blue crab. If you’re not familiar, this is a totally different species!Really irks me that you go to a place like this and it would even be a question that I’d expect Chesapeake Bay blue crab, not some junk from overseas.It also calls into question for me everything served in the restaurant. Ask next time if your crab cake is from the bay or Venezuela!

I have reviewed this place before, and given it high ratings. I deleted that review because this last time it seems like the food has not been up to par.Edit review: we returned so my boyfriend could have the all you can eat crabs. He was really working trying to get a crab big enough to find some meat. When he asked to get some crab with meat he was asked if he ordered the all you can eat crabs. He answered yes to which the server replied that all you can eat gets the smaller crabs. So just putting it out there to anybody that’s going to be getting the all you can eat crabs here at this place be expecting to get the smaller ones with less meat. My boyfriend said it’s not even worth picking and that they are bordering on illegal. He also has come to this place so many times. Is the go to place in Maryland for him and this is very disappointing. He said the crabs used to never be served like this. I’m vegan and I got the salad bar. The salad bar was not maintained. There were lots of spills. The pasta salad was warm. The coleslaw was warm. The salad lettuce was Wilty.. I definitely do not think we will ever return.

It's a place big enough for events and yet there was a homey feel to it. The service crew were courteous, warm and efficient! The best part was the crabs itself- really be good, cooked just right with the seasoning not overpowering the delicious fresh sweet taste of the crabs! The mussels were also superb- good sauce and all large.. The steamed shrimps were perfect with the red sauce.. would definitely come back and try their other dishes.Altogether a wonderful day to end the day. Worth the trip!

We enjoyed our meal. I had boiled shrimp with Captain John's special seasoning. Sides were yummy. My husband had their salmon 😋. The drive from Richmond was peaceful. Sitting on their pier bench watching the birds and fisherman was a lovely way to end the day.Wheelchair accessibility: The doors and tables were wheelchair accessible.

We rode up from Richmond to eat at this restaurant. It was 9 of us. They seated us very quickly, but failed to tell us they had only one cook and a party of 50 ahead of us. We ordered food and drinks,the drinks came, but no food. The waitresses was very informative l, stating that they knew we would have a long wait, but the owner told him/her not inform the customers. We waited for 2 hours to get our food. By then we were over this restaurant. The waitress was good,but overall, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for anyone. Very bad experience and wouldn't come back!!!

🦀Our server was outstanding...of corse I 🙃 forgot her name she told me 2 times...... she was skinny and black and sweet and beautiful, my dad kept calling her Miss America...She stayed on top of our drinks, she made sure we were taken care of. Temperature 🌡of food was perfect, seasoning on crabs 🦀 was .. perfection...😍....We had all you can eat crabs and shrimp she kept on top of. Also our melted butter, vinegar, cocktail sauce,she did a great job. She cleared our table of empty shells often so we had plenty of room. I really can not say enough GREAT things about my waitress. The food was amazing 👏

Crabs were great today. Went here twice last summer and they were just ok. decided to try them out one more time and it worked. Staff was very friendly. we ate inside because of all the fly's outside. One thing I liked is that they cleaned down the tables, chairs and napkin holder after every customer. They wear gloves the entire time and change them in-between task. Also we played the lottery. Fingers crossed!!
