Staff at the shelter care so much about what they do, you can feel it as you walk in. I've decided to foster and they have been super supportive and easy to work with. Seeing an animal transform under the proper care is amazing and knowing that they will go to a good home is so rewarding. Can't wait to adopt through them one day.

I adopted a very nice Tortoiseshell kitty 3 1/2 years ago when she was almost two. The staff was very accomodating and worked with me to find the right cat for me. They charge a very reasonable price. She has been such a joy to have. She is a good cat, and I love her to pieces--such good company. I needed her as much as she needed me, having been a stray.

Staff is friendly n welcoming. I had items to donate since the death of my last n final dog, I've owned a dog or multiple dogs since I was 8yrs old n I've nev been w/out 1. They wer very happy to receive the large breed items i brought in n she assured me each n ev item would make a diff in some dogs life. Of course, I couldn't not ck out the pups currently waiting to be adopted. Im in process of moving into a much smaller house n I'll be traveling to Fla for the winter, so now is not the rt time for me to adopt a new dog, my heart is still broken over the loss of my boy Blue. Makes my heart ache to see all the pups in the kennels, scared, sad, angry, Confused. If only ppl would do rt by their animals, spay n neuter n always, treat them w/kindness n an open heart. The volunteers were quite busy cleaning kennels, taking the dogs outside for a walk. They kindly took the time to explain what certain info on each dogs kennel meant. Overall a wonderful experience, just sorry I'm moving, as I would have loved to be a part of their volunteer program.

Got my new cat, Brady, there. The women there are great, even though they seem overworked, especially that day because they had their rabies clinic happening, which had like 300 people in line, it seemed. But, I was able to complete their pre-screening form and get approved to interact with the cats quickly. No pre-screen needed to view the cats in the cages. Very clean facility for cats. I don't know about the dog side though. Easy and quick process for cat adoption too. I think I was there for only 30 minutes total. I love Brady and he is a PURRfect fit for me!

This place was amazing. Everyone was so nice and helpful. They were waiving adoption fees right now so my kitty was free. She came spayed, with a microchip, and all her shots. I don't even live in Anne Arundel county but was still able to adopt. The only thing you can't do is foster if you don't live in the county. I really would recommend visiting them if you're looking for an animal to rescue. I dropped a photo of Apple Pie, we kept the name. She's such an amazing kitten.

My experience was neutral. I adopted a first cat that wasn't a good fit and left behind fleas that I spent months getting rid of completely. I adopted a second overweight cat, who came with health issues. I have him in a robust place health-wise, but he still loves to eat. I keep him on a diet of IAMS tuna and chicken wet cat food. And I feed him blue buffalo-sensitive stomach formula. This high-class cat food helps your feline have a shiny fur coat, heart, and eye health. Although there were some ups and downs with my experiences, it is better than most animal care facilities. I was a little disappointed that a volunteer promised to give me health medication before adoption. But never followed through. Then, I had to work for about a month to help him recover from an upper respiratory infection, and some vomiting scares. But I am very happy to have Stanley as my feline companion. I originally went for a different cat and was pointed out to the one in the photo. Several months in, I can say I have no regrets about picking Stanley.

I am so disappointed in animal control. I understand that they recieve several calls a day about animals out. Or people with dogs of leash and roaming. TAMMY is the rudest dispatch person I have ever spoke to. She hangs up thr phone or transfers you with out when saying anything. I Called a whole back and she gave me the worst attitude ever. There were 3 dogs roaming and chasing people her response rudly was didn't you just call her. Mind you it was my first time calling. Animal control allows their feild officer to get a way with anything. They lie about not having custody of an animal when they did, but release back itthe owner. I get it your trying to keep animals with the owners but some people don't deserve to have animals that they beat and starve. Won't be calling ever again. Next time the police qill have to come out. The animals are going to really hurt someone.

Unwelcoming staff from the time I entered. I turned around & left. Which is sad cause people are there for the animals, not the staff, but you have to interact with them to get to the animals..sighDo better AACO Animal Control

Recently adopted a dog from the shelter. Staff and volunteers were so compassionate and excited to connect us with a dog. Very quickly found a snuggle bug, and they were able to set up a foster to adopt agreement so we could make sure the new dog would be a good fit with our other animals at home. Made the adoption official and couldn't be happier. Thanks again to the wonderful team for the care and support you provide to the community, people and animals alike!

I have had nothing but pleasant experiences with this facility. We adopted our Akita here, who lived with us for 9 years before passing away of cancer, our nine-year-old tuxedo cat and our 8-year old calico cat were all adopted from here. I really cannot recommend them enough.

Encountered someone working with a major, major attitude problem at the front desk. I just wanted to get my animals licensed, the questions that I asked were so simple yet they were met with condescension. I am dreading going back inside but I have to, uhg.

We had to recuse/do a jail break (pay the bail really) for my fiancee's dog who has become quite the escape artist in recent months since living with his step/foster mommy while we get some house projects accomplished (don't want him exposed to anything the old man doesn't need to be exposed to).The staff were very nice, took our temperatures before letting us in. They had a variety of toys/clothes/food/etc for pet owners who needed or wanted any (and the travel bowl we grabbed seemed to be something the slobber monster could enjoy and need). There were a few other people in front of us, a few doing foster work for kittens, as well as a family viewing cats for adoption, but the time in and out, including all the paperwork was quite reasonable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Dog tax, Red. With his free travel bowl provided. Gotta love'em as long as you can before they take the trip over the rainbow bridge

My buddy & I tried to adopt one cat each here. I adopted a cat & then my friend tried to adopt one. Then they bill/voided my adoption because of something his sister did years before. She lied about an address or something. Someone I’ve NEVER had any affiliation with or met. Doesn’t make any sense why you would deny TWO adoptions because of something so trivial. We’re trying to help these animals and they deny us.The staff was very rude also & didn’t even try to offer any solutions to the issue. Don’t complain to me when your shelter is overflowing with animals. I went through a private organization for an adoption & got a real sweet cat with no issue.

I went to make a donation today. While I was there, I visited the kitties. All of the cages were immaculately clean. The litter boxes were spotless. The cages had 2 separate sections: one for sleeping and one for the potty area. Staff was pleasant.

Adopting my kitten was smooth & easy. I came in and was able to look at all the cats up for adoption and I got to mingle with a few before choosing my Callie. She was free and up to date with all shots before we left for home

I wish i could give less stars. My neighbors & I called on a guy who left his senior pittie in a n open enclosure/crate outside filled with its pee & feces. Neighbors provided water & food when the guy would be gone fore days.(and The house was in foreclosure for years.) Animal control did nothing and refused to go in the yard without more discussion and left. When they returned, dog was gone. They put a sticker on the door that remained there for 6 months. They never followed up. Guy removed his dog and hid it somewhere, never saw the poor dog again. I called on my next door neighbor. 5 dogs, a cat or 2 and who knows what else, neglected dogs, yelled at them constantly or they were in cages inside. At times left out in rain cold and heat. Animal control asked them to provide shelter. They put an open crate on their deck. I tell the officer how i hear a dog barking all night long. I find out they actually neglected the dog so bad it had died months before. The officer knew this and still barely spoke to them. And this officer was non chalant and barely observed the situation. They had a charge in the court for killing their dog, animal control has never come back to check on the welfare of their remaining dogs, and she got another puppy in the meantime. Nothing is ever done. My moms neighbor stopped taking care of her dogs once her husband moved out. I called, said she no longer takes them outside and when she did i saw they were ematiated. The officer told me to request the report. I got it weeks later. All it mentioned was the lady was nice and spoke with the officer and it was unfounded. I found out another neighbor had reported her months before, nothing done. I see the husband now that shes finally gone and he reports she must have left the dogs in a room because of all the pee in the carpet, etc. Animal control here does nothing!!! What a waste of our tax dollars. The officers dont seem to even like dogs, they barely investigate, and they never follow up. Shelter is not a cheap crate that has holes throughout and providing water shelter and food does not mean your neighbors do it so its alright. Useless organization in terms of protecting dogs.

Place is a total joke. I applied online almost 3 weeks ago and had been put as first on a dog UNLESS someone from aaco. They were on lockdown, so I waited 2 weeks for my dog. Then i called Tues and toldWeds, weds they said they sent it to a shelter. No other husky. But, today l get told it is a husky 1030. By noon theyvhad made an appointment with another family for 1pm. I waited they don't show until 150. Guess who gets the dog. Now my children are crying. They are ridiculous liars.
