My name is Meredith and did some grocery shopping at Food Lion in Laurel, MD. This has been one of the shopping experiences I've ever experienced. Kahlil Wade greeted me with a friendly smile, professionalism and extremely prompt amazing service at the checkout stand! His dedication to excellent customer service and professionalism is second to none and reflects great credit upon himself and the Food Lion brand. My overall rating undoubtedly is 5 out of 5 stars without hesitating. Kahlil Wade deserves a big raise and the biggest recognition/honorable mention for his amazing friendly service, attentiveness and professionalism. Thanks Food Lion for hiring this jewel of an employee to represent your magnificent business! :o)

I use to like this food lion, but the last time I went I decided to get a lot of food. My total was $160 I believe. I go to the register and before the cashier rings anything up she ask “EBT?” I was on a phone call, so I was confused and thought she misheard me when I greeted her so I ask “ What do you mean?” . She goes “you use EBT today?” I nicely say no and show her my card that I am using and she starts scanning. Later I realize the other cashiers didn’t ask the customers about EBT and my cashier didn’t ask the next Latino man after me if he was using EBT.Then I come to write this review and see another black woman had a similar experience. This store needs to retrain some of the staff. I don’t know if it was just an assumption on that cashiers part, but it was rude.Now I will say the store is usually organized. The produce section isn’t the best but it gets the job done. I like food lion because it’s close to me and has affordable prices. I hope to have a better experience next time or I will no longer shop here.

Hello everyone,Update: Effective immediately on 1/1/2024, this location off of Sandy Spring Road in Laurel, Md will now start charging paper bags for 10 cents a bag. This is because of the new law that went into effect from Prince George’s County and the City of Laurel banning plastic bags. You can also bring in your own reusable bags and paper bags as well. We will also be selling Food Lion reusable bags as well if you opt to not go with paper bags.Also, and this is a message to Food Lion customers, be kind to your retail workers. It’s not their fault that you are having a bad day. Stressed out? So are they! It costs $0.00 just to be nice.

They really should consider doing something about the Men lurking and looting around the store asking people do they wanna buy food stamps .. and trust me I get it but that’s literally devaluing the store and makes customers feel uncomfortable

I stopped in yesterday for one item but ended up getting a cart because they had a lot of hard to find items that I didn’t know that I needed, hence the star. It would’ve been 4 stars because the store was also clean, bright, and it was an easy shopping experience. The minus 1 star would’ve been for the bread aisle, because it was pretty empty. So, how did we get to 1 star? The cashier. An older lady who when I approached with my cart and put a couple of items on the belt, immediately and loudly asked “Are you using EBT? They’re down! We aren’t taking it right now!” I politely said no and continued to put the few items I had on the belt. Now my items fit in 2 bags so it wasn’t as if I had a cart full and I’m confused as to why she made this judgment. As I paid and moved up, she didn’t ask the man behind me that question and no, he was not in line when she asked me so he didn’t hear her. I also forgot one item, went back to an aisle and through her line (no one else was open). She didn’t ask the person in front of me or behind me then either. So it’s disturbing and disgusting that I am the one she’d pick to make an assumption on who would be paying a certain way. Please inform your employees that if they’re going to ask a question, ask every patron or do not ask it at all.

The store is outdated and too large. Pharmacy is closed. Fried chicken is not bad. Not the store personnel fault. The store was bought by some company, and they just let them fade away or close them. Prices still beat local Giant, Safeway, and Harris Teeter.

Good shopping experience was ruined when i got to the cashier. Seemed like she didn’t even wanna be there had an attitude the whole 5 minutes we were standing there and it’s been the first time i’ve visited a Food Lion store where I had to bag my own groceries ($100+ worth btw), which is not something Im complaining about in itself (the bagging) I have 2 hands I can use. The bad part was that she was putting the groceries of the person behind me on top of mine when I wasn’t even done bagging my own. She clearly didn’t care for customer service at all. This is a smaller store and has a small town store feel to it. Though smaller it has most of the items I am looking for and has brands/items the bigger nearby stores don't. Staff have always been friendly and helpful every time I have gone so far. This has become my favorite grocery store even though 2 others are closer.

It was a nice store. It was clean . I didn't get a chance to check out the restroom, but if it's as clean as the rest of the store you will be fine 😊. Also , I'm handicapped , and had to use a ride on cart to complete my shopping trip , it was clean and charged , and the isles were roomy enough for me to complete a full spin without smashing into anything. I visited the deli , and the young man behind the counter was very sweet to me and my sister, our cashier was very competent , and also very nice. We were most impressed by the prices ! Keep up the good work food lion! Their sales were excellent and we found many sales on the things we needed , and things we just use in general. I even saw a couple store managers from the different departments , on the floors, working side by side with their employees ! I had a great shopping trip at this store , and if you happen to shop here I'm sure u will be satisfied as well. The front end manager was visible and taking part in front end duties , making sure carts weren't blocking the entrances , it was an amazing experience at this food lion today!!😊

Great neighborhood grocery store! The staff are friendly and helpful, the aisles are open and clean, the house brands are good, the prices reasonable. It's calmer and more pleasant than other grocery stores in the area.

I was at 410 sandy spring food lion at 7.05 AM. The store was all ready for Monday morning business fully staffed BUT We could not pay CASH because the all cashiers did not have the cash boxes yet🤔. Somebody was Tardy on a Mondays Morning.The Printer also needs ink refillMy cashier courteous, professional helpful gentleman at 7.04 AM Today 26th September stand out for his positive attitude who checked me out. This is an extremely clean store and always well stocked. The rest rooms are clean. Produce seems like it was just picked from the garden. The meat department is stocked and the meat is good. The management staff and associates make my shopping experience enjoyable. The cashiers are efficient and always willing to open another register when the line gets too crowded. This is why I shop at this Food Lion.

Awesome place for groceries. Customer service is awesome. Wide selection of produce, and they have an organic section as well. Deli service is wonderful, and they always have fresh baked goods. Meat selection can have some choices that are about to expire sometimes. Overall, good place to save some money and get good food.

Great store in Laurel, MD. Very clean, helpful staff and wonderful produce and meat selections. I'm only in the area about once a week but I now make it a point to shop. Better prices than my local grocery store.

It seems to always be clean, the cashiers are always pleasant, the workers are always helpful. Some items are some times seems to be out of stock like gain laundry beads. I find a lot of laundry products stock is usually low as well as toiletries. Thank you for the opportunity.

Store is clean, prices like everywhere have increased but sale items are great prices most of time. Employees are helpful and friendly. Not a huge store so not as busy as some big stores, lines are fairly short and quick. I shop here often as close to home.

Agree with the other posters. Small store so very easy to get around the aisles. Parking is a cinch compared to other places like giant or Harris Teeter where you have to walk a long way.They don't have a ton of different selections but it's good enough and honestly the meat is really good compared to how large of a place it actually is. Which is small. I love this place especially if you're limited physically and you don't want to spend all day stuck in the grocery store. This is the place for you.Prices are usually below the other stores locally. But not always period on a few items W higher and on those I don't get the item. But I would say about 75% of things are cheaper here than anywhere else. Paper products and toiletries have recently taken a price spike upward and aren't as cheap as they once were but I think they're still very competitive.They often give away coupons for $5 off in $80 purchase. So you're always getting additional discounts it seems. Which I don't think you get most other places.I like the deli counter. I've become friends with the people behind it. In part because you get used to the same people as it's a smaller store.It's also not a very busy store so you can always get in and out of there without a huge line. I'm always amazed by that.It is a very clean store. And you'd expect a small store with cheap prices to sort of have a rundown feel. It's quite the opposite actually and I'm proud to go in there. Even though I know I'm going to save at least $5 on every 60 bucks I shop.Unless you shop at ALDI, I can't see you getting a better deal on your groceries...........

It's a decent in-between store for us if we absolutely need something because of distance but never a first choice. Always check your expiration dates! They are not the best at getting them off the shelf for a month or 6 past the sell by date.
