The pharmacy tech at CVS (store # 488 ) in La Plata, Maryland ( corner of Shining Willow Way) was extremely unprofessional and unhelpful. I was trying to have a prescription transferred from one CVS to another because they were out stock for the medication. However the tech acted as if it was too much trouble for her to assist. She never offered an explanation as to why it could not be done, while the transferring store assured me it could. They too could not even understand why she would not comply. Now I know why so many customers complain about the lack of service and professionalism from this CVS. They’ve definitely lost my business!

Would give 0 stars if I could. Pharmacy staff was very rude and unprofessional. Pharmacist kept rolling his eyes when I was asking him to recheck to see if my prescription had been sent over from urgent care. Will never use CVS pharmacy again. They also have the worst open hours of all pharmacy, so don't get sick or injured between 7pm and 10 am. You can't get the prescription for your emergency illness or injury.

Words can not express my gratitude towards Mr. Ecchi!! Sir, thank you for going the extra miles to help get my son the insulin to live!!! The CVS pharmacy in Lexington Park Maryland should be investigated poor service. The African-American Supervisor on duty only cared about standing on her feet, she said she was hungry, her coffee went cold and she's ready to go. This was more important than trying to help me find a cvs pharmacy that had the insulin for my son. I was willing to drive two hours if need be!! Mr. Ecchi, what you did for my son saved his life. While the other cvs pharmacist acting nonchalant about my situation. You search and search to find a way to get his insulin approved. Community, what happen was my insurance no longer approved the name brand( Admelog) but instead the generic brand(lispro). I had no clue about the change, until it was time for my son refill and on top of all that, his cvs pharmacy was out of the generic brand until tomorrow evening about 6pm. The cvs near me was closing and out of stock. I was told incorrect information at my near by cvs pharmacy and had to call around asking questions to learn. While the emergency on call endocrinologist trying to help call around too. If not, my son would've had to get insulin at the ER. It was unreal!! My son life depends on his insulin (type 1 diabetic). When I realizes the generic brand is similar to the name brand and my son can continue to administer with the pen instead of the syringe. I was grateful!!!These pharmacist are terrible, some are absolutely rude and overwhelmed short staffed. I filed a complaint. Please if you ever experience anything like this misinformation, inconsideration, lack of job performance . Call 1800-shopcvs. File your compliant with the agent. We need to voice our concerns for better customer care.Shalom family🙏🏽

I’m currently typing this review at 12:00 noon on 4/8/2023. While I’m sitting in my car in pain because the pharmacist is refusing to give me my painkillers that we’re proscribe to me by a DOCTOR. Reason because insurance wouldn’t cover it I said I would pay out of pocket she’s still telling me no and states I can have the doctor send it to another pharmacy and see if they would give it to me. My root canal appointment is not until Wednesday and she showed no compassion.UPDATE:So I’m back in the drive thru at 1:17 and the doctor has called in a lower dose for me she’s still refusing to give me my prescription and now have to call the police, break is not until 1:30 she’s mad I questioned her about her lying that my Dr. Did not know my birthday and want to go back and forth with me going to slam the blinds in my face talking about she’s going on break and I can get my prescriptions after break. Remind you she had already took my cash and ID and she returned it before the break time. And I’m going to make sure I call the pharmacy board on mirabel E. Tanyi

Worse CVS ever. They never pick up the phone. Lines are always long. You need to plan for a minimum of thirty minutes every time you pick up a prescription.

Staff is nice but drive through pharmacy makes no sense. Stop letting people sit at the window forever. Make them drop off quickly or pick up, don't let them wait or buy other items. If there's a problem have them come inside. When my prescription is ready I need 5 minutes but takes an hour. Maybe I should switch if you can't efficiently handle the volume. I'm switching as they are way too slow.

Waited 45 minutes on phone for someone to check on my Rx. Never got back to me. Happens all the time. I use the app, but it's not helpful if no one is logging the scripts. When I show up and complain, all of a sudden the scrips are ready and I get the text to come pick up as I'm driving away with my Rx, ugh! I don't think this is limited to this particular store location, it is epidemic in the cvs chain.

Lady was very rude over the phone even when she asked to talk to the nurse at the hospital. CVS are the worst pharmacy ever. Will be calling corporate to let them know. Everyone avoid CVS at all cost.

What is the hold up at the drive through??? Pull up and check if your prescription is ready for pick up.. if not move TF OUT OF THE WAY.. Is there a reason this isn't being enforced? And of course its impossible to get an actual person on the phone to check new prescription status. How would I know my prescription number if the Dr just called it in...Wait times are ridiculous...

Pharmacy is the worst run I have ever seen. My doctor sent my rx in at 2pm for a life or death medicine. At 7pm on a Friday before a holiday, I came to pick it up, only to be told they were out and might have more on Monday. No call, no text, nothing. They had no regard for their regular customer so don't bother if it's a one time thing for sure.

I gave 2 stars b/c I have had outstanding experiences with a few pharmacists and/or techs. However, I had the worse experience via phone today. I went in the store to, not only pick up a prescription, but to speak with a manager about the tactless, rude and unprofessional encounter. To my dismay, I discovered the manager they called MeMe is the same person named Meribel I spoke with just 15 mins earlier. So, no point to make my complaint with her, right?!

The pharmacy is one of the worst I have ever witnessed. The pharmacist is rude and doesn't help customers. It seems her job is to anger us. I will NEVER go back there again. I deal with Walgreens across the street from them. The pharmacy is very helpful and treats customers the way they should be

My doctor sent 3 prescriptions here for me. Approximately 30 minutes later, I arrive and I called ahead of walking in to see if they were ready. It said that one was ready and two were still in progress so I walked in and asked if they had an estimate of time on how long it would be before the other two were ready and the pharmacist started yelling that it would be another 3-4 hours because I had a ton of people ahead of me. I asked why was one of them filled then and he continued yelling that my prescription was just sent in and it would be ready in another 4 hours. I now am sitting in my vehicle for that length of time because I cannot afford to drive all of the way home and back with the price of gas. I will be requesting my doctor to move my prescription to a different pharmacy in the future.

On Oct. 23, 2022 my Doctor called in 3 prescriptions to store#1488 when my husband went to pick it up the the employee at the pharmacy that checks you out said they didn’t have the antibiotic and don’t know when they’ll get it in , my husband explained I really need it she told him to go find another pharmacy within 20 miles to fill it?? We went to Walgreens pharmacy staff was very nice said yes they had it and would transfer it, I still had 2 other prescriptions at cvs they said it would be 30 minutes, after waiting my husband went in to get those 2 and she had 3 prescriptions on counter confused my husband said we went to Walgreens to get that antibiotic the pharmacist got very rude and said we searched and found exactly the amount to fill it(20 pills) and we should be happy she did me a favor by finding them! Well she lied the bottle was from manufacture and contains 20 pill foil seal was still on all she did was put prescription label on the bottle! Both pharmacists and assistant were rude yelled at me and my husband this isn’t first time they have been rude and refused us service I’ve been told several times they won’t refill my Gabapentin when it clearly says I have refill she just says “ You not get refill” when ask for explanation I get “ we not going have it anymore! I will never use cvs again and neither will my family or friends, we found private owned pharmacy that treat their elderly with patients and respect the way it’ should be! Who wants to be yelled at and mistreated when they are very sick, I was in tears and couldn’t believe that even the pharmacist told me be happy she did me a favor. No one should be abused like this just to get a prescription! I sincerely hope these horrible women are reprimanded or very least fired!

I stood in line at the pharmacy behind a lady for some time. Two cashiers were free to wait on us. The lady in front of me proceeded to one of the cashiers as I started toward the other cashier, a woman behind the counter said “we are closed for break”. There was no one behind me and they waited on the lady in front of me. There was a free cashier!! Problem was it 1:30 pm exactly. They close EXACTLY at 1:30 to 2pm. If you are standing in line don’t expect to be waited on. It doesn’t matter if you have been waiting in line. Needless to say, I moved all my prescriptions. Shame on the lady behind the pharmacy counter. You were rude to me. I hope no one treats you how you treated me yesterday.

Horrible customer service. Received a call that prescriptions were ready for pick up. Went to pick up and was told full price was due. Asked why insurance wasn't applied. Clerk told me to step aside and speak with Amanda. She tells me they are still waiting for either the physician to rewrite the prescriptions so the insurance company will cover it or call the insurance company and get a prior authorization. This was suppose to be handled last week. Why did I receive a call that these prescriptions were ready? She tells me they are ready....but you have to pay full price because issues still are pending. I told her the call should say " your prescriptions are ready if you want to pay full price and not go through insurance because the insurance issues are still not resolved " very poor customer service and very rude. Also, very confusing as to why when I spoke with the pharmacy last week you knew I was waiting for insurance to approve it and days later you call and say it's ready??

The pharmacist told me there would be about an hour wait for my antibiotic, which I needed asap. I told him I would have to wait and he said he would try to expedite it, and actually got it done in about 15 minutes - very happy with my service.

Wouldn’t even give one star!Having a prescription filled just to keep calling for three days and have my doctor fax them just so they can accept it. And the employees are rude as hell! So ridiculous!

Just called to get a prescription refilled, the pharmacy answers saying "it cant be filled for 4 more days". I asked "well can i use a different cvs to get it filled", to which she says "due to your insurance it can't be filled for another 4 days" so i say okay fine. I immediately call my insurance to understand why and they say that's not true and that its covered AND cvs didn't file any claims for it to be covered. So my insurance company tries calling with me on the phone 3 separate times, being put on hold and hungup on every time. I call back and ask what the real issue is and the automated voice tells me theyre out of stock. So when i finally reach the pharmacist she tells me "there's only 2 of us here, etc." A few minutes later she tells me it will be ready in an hour & a half. Even after the terrible customer service and being lied to, i said thank you. She literally just hungup on me, no youre welcome or anything. I understand places are understaffed right now but this is completely unacceptable. Do not tell someone a prescription can't be filled due to insurance because your pharmacy is out of stock. She did not expect me to contact my insurance and get this figured out. Disgusting service. I will be searching for a new pharmacy.

Always takes at least 2 hours to get any prescription filled during the peak hours of the day when they have the most staff there. You’re better off going at night unless they’re about to close which they locked me in the store until the transaction was over. Don’t know what that was about but being someone with hostage ptsd it wasn’t a pleasant experience. The main pharmacist, Rachel laughs when I explain troubles I’ve had at her pharmacy. Her excuse for laughing: what happended to me was ridiculous.

Every time I come to this pharmacy, the prescriptions are never correctly imputed with my insurance so I can never get my medications on time. If I could rate 0 stars I would. Moving to la plata pharmacy and am way happier

Have been using another pharmacy to fill my prescriptions for many years. That pharmacy was out of a medication and called up CVS inquiring if they had it in stock and transferred when they did. CVS has a pharmacy rewards program $10 after 10 prescriptions filled. Pharmacy staff is very helpful and offer suggestions for savings. Strongly considering switching and making them my permanent pharmacy.

I visited this CVS location yesterday (8/18/19) and spoke to the rudest pharmacy technician that I have ever encountered. She told me her name was Selma, this day she was wearing a black head wrap. ( I saw this earlier that day when I bought the prescription and dropped it off) Selma called me back and told me they could not process my prescription because it was in process at the target store and they were closed. I asked if she could call urgent care to see if they could switch it and she said they could not because they already ran it through insurance. I told her that I have 2 insurances and asked if she could please call urgent care and have them resubmit the prescription to them so that they can run it under my other insurance, Selma blew up saying she was too busy, I would have to wait till tomorrow, that she could not and would not call; that I could if I wanted too, She does not have time to be calling dr offices for every patient, and that she would and could not do anything to help me. All this was yelled to me over the phone around 6:40 p.m. last night. She needs a lesson in commom courtesy, and customer service etiquette. This is not the first time this pharmacy team has been known to be rude and give horrible service. This type of behavior is a direct reflection of leadership and how they handle things. CVS upper-management for this location need to really focus on the staff in this department, and do a revamping to make sure that your customers are spoken to with respect, at the very least never yelled at by the staff. I HOPE THIS IS READ AND TAKEN SERIOUSLY. As my husband says when you go into the lion's dean expect to be bitten and I was big time..please help this department, they need it especially Selma

The worst place to get prescriptions. They never have them ready when they tell you there ready. Especially if you want to pick up same day.

My family and I have been going to this CVS for a few years now. Up until this past year things had been okay. Now we can’t get communication on meds that need to be ordered, I am lied to repeatedly about protocols, the pill counter wasn’t cleaned out and I got a pill in one of my prescriptions that was not prescribed for me! Now we have a MAJOR medication error involving a change in blood pressure medication for a diabetic! The screw up really messed with her blood sugar and we just discovered it. I have tried talking to Lester a few times about these issues, but nothing changes! That is the only reason I have come here, because the La Plata store DOES NOT CARE! We are moving all of our prescriptions immediately!

The WORST pharmacy experience in 50 years. I have used CVS exclusively for 10 years all over the country. The pharmacy manager, Jonathan, does not tell you a straight story and there is no consistent logic to his excuses for incorrect information. It took me going there 4 times and calling the CVS call center, just to get his attention. He is also sloppy and had stains on his white lab jacket, which I don’t think is the “scientist” image of a medical professional.Seems to me the inventory, ordering, and distribution of medications is flawed at best, deceptive or criminal at worst.

Absolutely stunned by the callous reply the man at the pharmacy counter gave us. We were scheduled to have a procedure done at 7:30 a.m. at Inova hospital the next day. The prescription was sent to the other CVS in LaPlata (didn't even know there was another one). Of course that one was closed, we asked to have it transferred it over. Nope, couldn't do that. But they could see the prescription. O.K. so I asked if there was anything over the counter we could take...his reply was alcohol. ALCOHOL are you kidding me!! (So the procedure had to be canceled) Thanks unprofessional dude!

3 times I tried to get my prescription at this CVS, each time they said they didn't have it and couldn't notify me when they did. I'm a month and a half late for this prescription. I just have to drive to White plains now even though I'm in la Plata. CVS White plains always has my medication. If you keep running out constantly, doesn't that mean you should order more?

It doesn’t matter when you come by this place if it’s anywhere from 3-7 you are going to wait 20+ minutes and it doesn’t matter if it’s the drive thru or inside. It’s unbelievably slow and I can’t for the life of me think why. If there’s an issue with a prescription, customers are expected to go inside the store to resolve. NOT sit in the drive thru. So please explain to me why every time I come here we sit and sit and sit with every single car. And forget about the 2nd lane, it is never open working operational. Somethings gotta give. Obviously they have the business so they need to hire more staff during these key hours plant 3 people at the dang register just constantly ringing and getting people in and out of here. There’s no reason for it to be like this each and every day. Im going to transfer to CVS in Solomon’s where I work to see what it’s like there. I’ve been sitting in line for 20 minutes and there’s still 2 cars ahead of me. There was 4 when I pulled up... and if you have a coupon from GoodRx it’s supposed to be automatically applied each refill. Which is what I was told by 2 associates that work there. But when I went to pick it up last week it was full price and the female pharmacist was rude and snappy saying I need to call and specifically request it be applied each time. I said well I’ve had no problem until now and it’s the techs there that told me it was automatically applied and it has been each time. She told me I had to come back in 30 minutes so they could run a new label for the lower cost...RIDICULOUS!!
