Long over due review - walked into Pets are Home a few months back & met Gabriel who also has a French Bulldog, and shared his insightful knowledge about the breed and various dog food recommendations. Made a switch to Carna4 (whole food ingredients) & I’ve seen a drastic change in my puppy’s coat, and overall health. Couldn’t be happier!! They also have a great selection of treats.

Very kind staff. Knew exactly what I was looking for and easy setup for rewards program. Only place that carries Zignature dog food that I could find. Dogs loved the cod skin snacks. Thanks for having a nice product for my fur babies.

Very nice shop. I buy my cat food here. It has a good selection of premium cat foods, even more if you buy single serving cans (I get the 5-6 oz cans). The staff is kind and attentive. Be aware they don't have carts so bring a reusable bag for carrying.

Amazing selection of high quality pet treats, chews, foods, and supplies. Their prices are very reasonable as well for premium grade selections. The place is also immaculate and well laid out.The owner, Nate, welcomed my wife and I (and our pup Houston) and showed us around the store and shared how the two beautiful wall murals are of his dogs. They also have a Polaroid photo wall with pictures of dogs who visit which we thought was the coolest thing. Be sure to bring your dog with you when you visit!

Highly recommended! They carry all the high-end brands that we’ve always used for our dog and is a convenient one stop shop for everything we need. We found food/toys that aren’t available at any of the other retail shops. Attentive service and very accommodating. They know their stuff and answered all our questions.

Hello I just wanted to say that everyone is very friendly. At the store they have great food for dogs who has allergies. This is what I got my dog she loves it she wants more every time I feed it to her. They own is so friendly and helpful. They even give you a little sample of the food before you buy it which is great. I I brought her a example of kangaroo food and she loves it. I did buy the catfish formula watch she love so much. Also is gluten free too. I don’t have pictures of the store but when you go there it’s very cute and organize. Even if you go one time you still want to go several times to the store so is addicted. 😄

The owner of this hidden treasure was so helpful , knowledgeable, and passionate about the food and toys for pets.One of his exceptional skills was knowing accurate information about animal’s with allergies and suggesting a food that was both healthy and tasty for my dog.I appreciated that he was even willing to talk with my friend who is a vet tech for I needed to differentiate between a good sales person vs a truly well informed person.My dog is loving his food and doing well on it too.He was a pleasure to work with and I will certainly choose this store as my go to pet store.It’s worth checking it out!

We love Pets Are Home! Came to the Kensington location to find healthier/leaner cat food for our cat’s weight loss. There we met Courtney, the Assistant Manager, and she was a dream!! She listened to our concerns and requests and gave us options that fit our needs. She was also very optimistic and hopeful with the information she gave, which really means a lot because it can be confusing and frustrating dealing with these behavioral/health issues. We left with different wet food options to try as well as sprouted seeds and goats milk! Courtney suggested these products and explained why they would be worth trying, and what could be tried next if they didn’t work, and I’m really confident that we made the right choice. She answered all of our questions and even made product comparisons to things we were using before so we could really understand the nutritional differences. She also explained the different promo options some of the foods had. Courtney even asked questions about our cat’s behavior to better understand how to serve her needs, and her questions were right on the nose, and come to find out she has years of experience with animals and animal nutrition!! We love that!! I can’t express how much that means to us; for the people selling animal food to be knowledgable in animal nutrition, it’s awesome and so helpful! We went to the Rockville location a few days ago to buy a full pack of the wet food and ran into Courtney and gave her an update! She seemed genuinely excited and relieved that we were finding success. We definitely will keep coming back to Pets Are Home. They carry cat food that Petsmart and Loyal don’t have, and their staff is incredibly caring and knowledgable. I feel like I’m getting a legit consultation and not just having a list read and sold to me. We love Courtney and we love Pets Are Home!!!!!!

By far one of the best pet stores I’ve gone too. The owners to all the staff here truly care about animals. My dog had severe allergies and I gave this store a call for a particular brand of dog food and I happened to get the owner on the phone - he took the time to go into detail about a brand of pet food that has resolved all the allergies for my dog. All of the items in the store are approved by the owners.Our family also stops by to get treats and we have been incredibly impressed by the healthy natural chews that they have.Absolutely are rare find in the world of big box stores and a must see for all pet owners.

Nate and his staff are wonderful - very knowledgeable and patient, especially in my experience as a newbie dog-mom. This store has the feel of a city establishment but with the suburban touch being full of amazing products yet with friendly and caring management. I originally came in asking about a product he did not carry and he ordered it on the spot for me knowing other parents would be interested in it too. I also buy quality food for my puppy here and the value far surpasses expectation.We're lucky to have the store nearby!

We stopped by on a whim after seeing the sign, not really needing anything pressing or having any big expectations. Nathan immediately greeted us and started consulting with us on our dog's needs. We were so surprised because I've never experienced service like that. Rusty is getting older, has some kidney issues and has rejected the food the vet prescribed. Nathan made a few recommendations and we left with some free samples. Rusty dug right in, so we will be going back to purchase a bag. Thank you, Nathan! We are grateful and are loyal customers now.

With so many pet stores closing, Pet Value, and now Loyal Companion, it has gotten so hard to find treats and bones for our dogs. We had five pups, two passed. Our remaining three are picky eaters when it comes to food and treats.We found this amazing store on Google, and made it a point to visit. I am so grateful I visited because this shop carries all my pups and cats favorite foods and treats. Thank you for being open and carrying such a diverse selection. Finally the stores rewards points are Amazing. We will be back soon.

Nate (owner) is THE MAN!He helped me out with all of my questions and takes care of my dog like it’s his own. I had a few questions about skin and coat and he knew exactly what to recommend. All products in his store are ONLY high quality. If you’re looking to have a happy and healthy pup, come to this store for advice and product. The store is beautiful and has a wide selection. Store is amazing and so is the owner, I couldn’t recommend any other store. There is lots of stores but if you want quality and care, look no further. My Aussie is in love with his new food and all thanks to Nate.

Our new favorite pet store! The only place we will now shop for our pups! Beautiful store and over-the-top helpful and friendly staff! We were sad to see our beloved Whole Pet Central close, but Pets Are Home is even better! We are crazy dog parents who are obsessive about feeding our pups the healthiest foods and treats. One of our babies suffers from extensive food allergies and environmental allergies, coupled with extreme anxiety. Partnering with a holistic pet store is essential for us in caring for her and her sister. We have always had that partnership at Whole Pet Central and now we’re confident that we have it at Pets Are Home! On our very first visit, Nate, the owner took the time to understand our baby’s allergies and showed genuine concern. When we inquired about single-ingredient treats that we need to purchase that he doesn’t currently carry, he immediately wrote them down and vowed to research carrying them. We can order them online, but would much rather purchase from a local small business. He even expressed openness to carrying our destructive chewer’s favorite brand of indestructible stuffed animals. Again, we could purchase them online, but would much rather support a small business in our local community. To make this amazing store even better, they deliver. And they are soon opening a location close to our home and my work in the Gaithersburg/North Potomac/Darnestown area.

I stumbled across this place when nearby and am so glad I did. The owner was kind and seemed knowledgeable about current nutritional research/recommendations. All my go-to brands were in stock and he recommended a chew that my girl might not decimate in record time.I'm glad I found Pets Are Home and will definitely be returning.

Had a great experience this week at Pets Are Home. Nate, the owner, was very friendly and knowledgeable and they had a full selection of the specific foods that we use. The upstairs section has unique gifts and pet gear. The store is very clean and well organized. Next time, I'll be sure to bring my dog with me! :-) Would recommend - a great addition to our neighborhood!

I was pleasantly surprised to see a pet store pop up in Kensington! I was thinking it would be a place where I'd get overpriced dog food when in a pinch. Our kids forced us in to take a look and it was actually AWESOME. The owner, Nathan, is extremely knowledgeable and has a wide variety of pet supplies and food. While I love to support small businesses, I also love to save. Fortunately, the owners match prices with Amazon and Chewy. THIS IS A GAME CHANGER. We can get everything we need without breaking the bank AND support a small local business. Wins for everyone! We are first time dog owners so it's nice to know we can take a 5 minute walk to get whatever we may need. Make this your new place for all your pet needs. We definitely have.

Finally a local Pet Store with everything we need and more! Beautiful store, well stocked with top of the line pet food and supplies, super friendly and well trained staff. Everyone there was extremely knowledgeable and held our hand navigating all of the options for our pup with significant dietary restrictions. The treats looked so darn good my son was upset that he couldn't have one (maybe I should have just given him one :-)). The reviews don't do this place justice. Will absolutely be back!

We've been coming here for about 6 months. We found it as we go to the nearby coffee shop a lot and one day popped in for a look. It's great. Lots of healthy food for our cat. They always seem well stocked on cat food (you can buy it in crates) and the guy that's often at the front desk is super helpful and friendly. They've plenty of toys and treat options too. Really happy this place has opened as is my cat who likes their food. Usually quite easy to park outside .

Nate and team are fantastic. They bring that local-shop vibe coupled with great knowledge and selection of their products. Most important of all, they spend the time to understand your needs and go above and beyond to meet them. When our cat had special dietary requirements, Nate walked us through the options and explained some of the industry tricks, providing us literature as well to help us understand our options. You just can't get that kind of service anywhere but at Pets Are Home!
