So grateful we found Jefferson Vet. Our previous vet just kept bringing up new tests to perform without giving us any useful information. Here they explained everything thoroughly, took their time, and gave us what we needed to make an educated decision on next steps. Thank you so much!! ❤️

EDIT: I believe it was wrong of me to post this review without speaking to anyone there first. I got to speak with Dr. Kalf and we agreed that while the situation was frustrating, I know she tried to follow all the necessary steps to try and give our pup a proper diagnosis. I’m still greatly disappointed that more common avenues were not explored earlier. I feel like some of the concerns I brought up were dismissed too early. I think a more proactive treatment plan (like diet or routine) would have been helpful rather than relying on waiting for results.I’m still frustrated by the stitches situation as well. I understand it was a very busy day the day we went in, but I am happy to wait if it means my pet will be thoroughly examined.I am not one to usually leave a negative review. When our 1 year old Staffy came down with unusual vomiting symptoms, the doc suggested we undergo expensive testing for a hereditary disease. $1700 in diagnostics later and we still could not find an answer. After being told her test results were all normal, I asked for he actual numbers. I found her Glucose levels to be higher and had to research my own diagnosis. (Keep in mind we were experiencing worsening symptoms for weeks with NO answers as to cause.) All signs pointed to pancreatitis which is more common. We treated her for that and she’s all better! Why would we have been led to believe everything was so normal after all this testing only to find something common as a cause? Despite this, I let them do her spay surgery. 3 days post-op and we think her stitches are coming apart. We take her in and the surgeon says we are wrong and that it’s not coming apart at all. Later that evening at home I am looking at the end of the stitches poking out of the middle of the incision! I don’t believe they even looked at her and just dismissed our concern.

Dr Ahalt and his team are awesome. He was especially compassionate when we had to put our German Shepherd down prematurely and he led us through all of the hard choices. Highly recommend!

There is a review from 'Erin B.' that covers the basics. This only touches on a small part of the entire situation. I understand that diagnostic medicine is complex, but here's the issue. I was initially willing to overlook it and move on until the doctor confronted my non-confrontational partner in my absence about her review of them. She agreed to amend her review, but even after that, they decided it was appropriate to note our grievances with them and their office in my dog's medical record. By mentioning 'future veterinary relationships,' it implies that I had a professional relationship to begin with.I am confused why the doctor prioritized rare diseases over more common ones for a 1-year-old dog. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, thinking they might have assumed genetic disorders because my dog is purebred. However, I am now questioning this approach as ineptitude. The only other explanation that comes to mind is financial incentive, which I hope was not the case. I made it clear that we had hereditary information for the last five generations of her show-dog lineage, with no evidence of any genetic diseases, including Addison's. Staffordshire Bull Terriers are not more prone to genetic disorders than mixed breeds for various reasons. This leads me to believe they have either never treated one or failed to research them before treating mine.A word of advice: don't dismiss those trying to educate themselves about their dog as overprotective parents swayed by misinformation on the internet and homeopathic remedies. Listen to the pet's owners and understand what you are treating before you proceed. Moreover, when a series of mistakes are made in your practice, it's important to acknowledge them. Refusing to admit errors just to save face does not contribute to growth. Next time you have the audacity to confront my family, have the courage to do so with me directly.

They charged me $90 for the diagnosis, and I told them what problem my cat had. I am so glad I did not become a vet. The vet also tried to push on my tick and fleas prescription ointment, and said Frontline is not good enough.

They are the only place I feel comfortable taking our dog to. She’s not easily comforted by anyone, the staff seems to always makes her feel relaxed as possible.

My dog was recently diagnosed with cancer. Due to the pandemic, most vets were booked. When I called on Monday afternoon, they made a spot available for me Wednesday morning and started chemo right away. Everyone there is so nice and friendly. The dr calls back if you have questions or concerns and they let you come in and usher you to a private room so you can discuss your pet with the dr. They maintain social distancing and greet you in the parking lot, but it is so wonderful that they take the extra time to clean and sanitize the rooms so that you can come in for a consultation as well. I could not be more impressed with this facility. We live over an hour away, but it is worth the drive. We feel confident in their abilities and are grateful for the compassion and kindness shown. Highly recommend!!!!!

Dr. Ahalt was great to work our dog in when he was sick (vomiting & diarrhea). He was thorough and took great care, even though he was extremely busy. Laszlo is much better now. Additionally, Dr. Ahalt and staff have cared for our pets for 13 years and we have been happy with their service.

If you love your pets never use jefferson veterinarian hospital. They will put your animals on medicine. tell you how important it is the pet never misses a dose or goes off the medication then try to charge you outrageous premiums for unnecessary services or deny you the medicine otherwise. I understand blood work being necessary and am willing to pay for the blood work to regulate the dosage. since I didn't want to pay for hundreds of dollars of additional services they dont care about my animals needs. additionally over the years having the prescription refilled has been a huge hassle. I have spent hours on numerous days calling back and forth waiting on hold between the pharmacy and the vet just for a simple prescription refill. The staff is extremely rude at times as well. This vet doesn't care about your pet they only care about how much money they can get out your wallet.

We love this vet! They’re always so kind and easy to work with. They sent me a really sweet card when one of my pets suddenly passed away and I was heartbroken. They truly care and I’m grateful for that!

I always feel rushed here. I never get a phone call about my dogs tests, and the wait is always at least 45 mins past your appointment time. The receptionist in the front are not very friendly looking either.

The office staff was very accommodating, I am disabled and they came out to my car to get my dog for me. Then after the appointment they brought him out and took my credit card in to pay my bill.

We have taken our pets here for years and have always been happy with the service, unfortunately that has changed. We saw a different vet today than normal, and she did not seem to have any experience or common sense when it comes to working with dogs, nor did she seem interested in even doing such work. We should have known it was going to be a bad experience when they still couldn't "find" the doctor 30 minutes into our appointment. I don't know if the previous doctor we typically see is still there, but either way we wont be returning.

My husband and I recently took our 11 month old cat in to be seen for a boo-boo. The staff were friendly and respectful, and both the vet tech and vet had wonderful bedside manner with my cat. They were very kind to answer all my questions and they never looked at me sideways for asking them. They diagnosed and treated him for an ear infection and a hot spot. He has been healing wonderfully, he hasn't messed with it once! I'm very happy to have found Jefferson Veterinary Hospital. Thank you for all your help. I highly recommend this facility.
