A wonderful rescue staffed by wonderful people! We recently adopted through CHN and had a very good experience from submitting our application to meeting our prospective dog, and even through support after we brought her home. We have worked with multiple local rescues in the past and CHN is one of the best!

It's unfortunate so many animals need a loving home, yet a shelter that is responsible for their welfare cannot coordinate to potential fur baby parents. I was questioned multiple times on whether or not I filed for an application, which I did while on the phone. I received an automated response confirming my application and spoke with a representative two days later who kept me on hold twice to find my application. I was then told the person who was supposed to contact me is a night shift RN, and to wait an hour before getting a response by today.

Being from PA, I wasn't familiar with CHN and came across them through Petfinder. I was so happy to connect with this wonderful organization! We ended up adopting a 1.5 yr old Dane/Mastiff mix who was rescued from a partnering rescue in WV and then fostered through CHN. Her story was sad and I'm thrilled to be able to offer her a second chance. The adoption process was quick from start to finish and seamless. The adoption coordinator and foster momma were great to work with throughout!!! Great communication and a genuine vested interest to make sure the pup was adjusting well. The rescue also provided several resources to help with the transition. I can't wait to continue to build memories with our babygirl!Thank you to the volunteers who remain dedicated to the mission!! Please consider rescueing if you're able to. There's so many loving dogs waiting for a home

Highly recommend for adoption. The vetting process is transparent, and the team provides lots of educational materials before your big day. As our rescue is foster-to-adopt they sent us home with everything we needed to feed and medicate her for the first two weeks. They remain connected and helpful after we brought our puppy home, and check in with us periodically to give medical advice, etc.

Canine humane network has been incredible, we brought home our dog about a week ago! They got our application approved quickly and have more dogs than any of the other local shelters, and do tons of adoption events! HIGHLY recommend

We had a wonderful experience adopting through Canine Humane Network. They went out of their way to find us a puppy who has turned out to be a great fit for our family. We appreciated the option of fostering before adopting. They provided lots of resources and offers of support as we got her settled in. We highly recommend them!

Phenomenal group of volunteers! I have worked as a foster with cat rescue in the past and have never seen anything as efficient as Canine Humane Network. I found a perfect pup for my home on petfinder, filled out an application and expected it to be a while before I heard anything— if I even heard anything back due to demand. I had an email within 15 minutes with some follow up questions and a meeting was set up the next day at my home. We got to adopt her right then and there! And they are generously helping with transportation to her spay appointment since we have a conflict. They also were spot on with the description of her personality and what to expect. I couldn’t be happier with our new family member or CHN!

I adopted a pup from CHN in October and had a great experience. I’ve pursued adoption before and found so many organizations to be slow to respond or not respond at all. During a time when pet adoption is quite busy, CHN responded within a day to my request for information and application. The foster, Rebeca, was wonderful. She contacted me right away, and after a successful meet and greet, she was willing to care for the pup an extra week since I had to be out of town. They were very concerned with the pup’s welfare during and after the many transitions she went through and they still reach out to check in. I highly recommend CHN to anyone interested in adopting a rescue pup.

We recently rescued a pup through Canine Humane Network via Petfinder. We could not be happier with our new puppy, she was as advertised, squishy and adorable, smart and calm. The foster home was great and everybody we interacted with obviously had the best interests of the dogs in mind. The process was quick, pleasant, professional and friendly. Our vet told us, you have a very good dog, we think so too.... thank you CHN

Long paperwork and then we met the foster mom of the pup but she was unfriendly and seemed to judge us from the first moment. It was confusing when she took the dog inside when she said it wouldn't work and left without even saying bye or letting us ask questions. We were going to ask if they could keep us in mind for another dog but when we turned around, she had gone and closed her front door. We understand that she felt we weren't a good fit for the dog but we don't understand why she was generally so dismissive of us. Especially with all the paperwork and we were upfront about everything and gave lots of information, and had to repeat ourselves - explaining everything in the questionnaire and then again over email, and then repeat the same information over the phone when we chatted with the foster mom. A bizarre experience.

My girlfriend and I got pre-approved to adopt after providing multiple questionnaires and a vet reference, and made an appointment to meet a litter of puppies at a foster home. We chose a puppy within the deadline provided by the foster, but for some reason we were not allowed to adopt it. We are a childless middle-aged couple. We both have full-time jobs, and have a large fenced yard at the home, which we own. I work at home. My partner has raised two puppies to adult dogs before. My partner has two puppy paws tattooed on her shoulder to memorialize her prior dogs. If she was contacted, our vet gave a glowing recommendation. In short, we tick every box for what ideal adopters should be.We cannot figure out why we were not allowed to adopt the puppy. We were told that "other applications were being considered, and other people were going to be meeting the puppies that weekend". The weekend passed. Then we were told "the foster was concerned because the puppy will be active and loud". Yes, of course it will! It's a puppy. Later that week, the same puppy we wanted was posted on Petfinder, asking for applications. Nobody ever even had the courtesy to give us a definitive "no" answer. We had a horrible experience and were totally heartbroken. We lost sleep over losing the puppy and the indecision of not knowing, and can't recommend that anyone put themselves through this.In the end we are left wondering, "why?"You may think we are horrible people who were rough with the dogs when we met them, or loud, or somehow offensive. No, we are quiet, polite people who just petted the puppies and cooed at them. They were sleepy, so we didn't see them at their most active, but that's not our fault! We can only guess that the final decision about the puppy and our suitability as adopters was ceded to the 20-something foster, who decided to override the pre-approval from the organization and reject us for unknown reasons. We were not asked any questions at the puppy meeting by the foster mom. Maybe it was our age? Maybe because we had people of color with us (niece and nephew) to meet the puppies? Maybe she didn't like something in our application, but didn't review it until we made the appointment? Not sure.As a final communication with the adoption coordinator, we were told we are still pre-approved applicants who would be able to adopt another dog with them.Absolutely not. We were heartbroken, and aren't putting ourselves through this again with this organization.

We adopted our sweet pup from Canine Humane in 2021, and had a smooth and positive experience. The adoption coordinator was quick to respond to our application and answer our questions. The foster family was kind and flexible with scheduling the meet and greet. Also, had a positive experience with their spay/neuter clinic partner.

This place is the reason people give up on adopting rescues and go to puppy mills.I just wanted to meet a dog that looked like it fit what we wanted and I was asked to complete a long questionnaire, which I did, but it was followed up by an email asking me more questions like, "Do you have any upcoming vacations or events coming up., "How will your new dog get its daily exercise?" and "Why do you feel this pup would be a good fit for you/your family?" I haven't even met the dog, how do I answer that. I have owned 8 dogs in the last 40 years, all have been rescues and to be interrogated with these types of questions for asking to meet a dog is ridiculous. I feel bad that this poor dog just missed out on the possibility of a long term loving home but strangers have no right in my personal life because I want to save a dogs life.UPDATE- Just adopted a beautiful black lab/pointer from Balto. county animal shelter. no adoption fee, no home visit and no calls to references.

Wonderful team of volunteers. They rescued a bunch of dogs from Texas, we adopted a handsome 1yr old Pyrenees from that batch. We've adopted from four rescue organizations and CHN is among the.

I just recently applied with this adoption agency. I was curtly dismissed from the application process, without my application being revisited, and after a strange late night questionnaire was sent. The questionnaire literally repeated the same questions I would’ve previously answered during the application process. Most places follow up with a phone interview for more depth. Not this place! I would’ve loved to have a more positive experience, however my high hopes were shot down very quickly. I hope anybody else experiences a better outcome than my own!

I have had the best experience with this organization. I have rescued several dogs over the years and I have always found that the rescue organizations (including county shelters) are not very transparent. CHN made every effort to tell me honest information about my dogs health, behaviors, temperament. They continued to support me after adoption when he had an issue. SUPER highly recommend.

We adopted a pup from CHN after fostering her in January. It was a really smooth process and our coordinator, Lisa, was extremely helpful in providing information and allaying our concern when our dog had a few health concerns that needed to be taken care of. We would definitely work with them again when the time arises!

I had such a great foster-to-adopt experience with this organization!! I brought my HW positive pup home with me in January 2022 and I felt supported every step of the way. The team at CHN were there to answer questions (of which I had several!!) and they were willing to work with me to figure out the best solution for my dog's treatment. It was very apparent to me that I was working with fellow animal lovers, and everyone I dealt with was helpful, warm, knowledgeable, and responsive.

I recently received my sweet pup girl from CHN. CHN was very prompt with reaching out to me after submitting my application. Karen was my application coordinator and it was a pleasure to work with her. Very responsive and made the application process very smooth. Within a week of the application, I had my pup. CHN did a great job making the perfect match to me and my lifestyle as I had expressed interest in several different pups. Its about 4 weeks since I've had her and she is truly amazing. They continue to check-in and provide an abundance of helpful resources while offering their support. The only constructive feedback I have is that I heard from the foster parents before CHN about meeting my pup. It would have been helpful to hear next steps from CHN first as it was a little confusing. But this is minor and should not stop you from adopting with them. THANK YOU CHN!

My dog Mini came from South Carolina heartworm positive. Luckily an early stage. The rescue was awesome setting up treatment at a local vet. Caring & responsive. We are so thankful for our Lab/Corgi mix! She is a delight. Thanks CHN!

Canine Humane Network is a great place to find your new family member. I adopted my first dog from CHN in October 2017, the process was seamless and everyone was very helpful. I started fostering dogs last summer and it is so rewarding. I love meeting these pups in need and being a part of them finding their forever homes.

Our coordinator, Lisa, is very informative and helpful. And the foster family is great of taking care of those pups. They are honest and supportive throughout the entire process. CHN makes this wonderful thing happened to us.

I got my pup June 2017 from CHN. Could not imagine life without her! She's perfect for us. I started volunteering more for them March 2018 and have been able to see first hand the amount of love and hours these volunteers put into this rescue. It's all for the dogs, caring for them and finding them the best homes possible.

CHN is great to work with. I appreciated their screening process. It shows how much they care about the dogs. And I appreciate that they took time to understand what dog would be a good fit for me. I now have the sweetest dog as a new addition to my family. 😊 They also provide a support for you and your new pup if you need it. I would highly recommend CHN!

One of my friends fostered a dog with lots of love, care, and time (and lots of $ too!) in to making the pup a happier and more confident one. They were under the impression that they would be able to adopt the dog but the dog was removed abruptly without any real cause. Looks like something else is in play here. I was so disheartened to see this.

I have volunteered for several other rescue centers and CHN is, by far, the most organized, friendly, and knowledgeable. The dogs there are wonderful and well taken care of. Most of the dogs are in foster care so they are already very well socialized to home life, people, and other pets. Adopting a dog or want to volunteer? Go straight to CHN!

I have been volunteering for this wonderful organization for over a year now. I adopted my sweet Tessie from CHN Aug 2018. This experience was wonderful with interacting with the adoption team and all the awesome volunteers in this organization! The adoption team is so talented and hard working to place these sweet dogs with wonderful adoptive families. I love CHN. 💕

We adopted a dog from canine humane rescue in June. They help so many animals in need that come from southern states. Please consider fostering or adopting from them!
