This bike shop is awesome! Andrew at the shop serviced my bike with ease, professionalism and proficiency. When I say he serviced my bike I mean that he literally saved me from having zero ability to brake, and cured it from making the most horrific sounds. One of the best bike shops I've experienced. They were able to fix my 35 year-old bike AND had a very specific part I needed for it while cycling the C&O Canal. They were super friendly as well. We spent the night out back and had hot showers and great company with other cyclists on the trail.

Awesome shop, super friendly staff, and a really great place to stay on the trail. In the past I have waisted money on a hotel room for a shower, shave, and bathroom....this is exactly what you need doing the trail. hot shower and nice warm fire after. *When I went in to pay for my stay and pick up some wet weather chain lube I overheard the staff talking / working with a kid on a VERY limited budget to get his old bike working again.... they went above and beyond what I would expect from any bike shop but especially a tourist trail location bike shop.

My brakes starting going bad while riding the GAP/C&O Canal trails, so I called ahead and made an appointment for them to replace. They didn’t have any in stock, but were able to order them in and have them ready to go when I arrived. The shop is located right on the trail, seems to have a good inventory, and they got us out the door in time for us to make our next lodging stop. Good overall experience.

Looks like someone has been living out of the bunkhouse. Did not feel comfortable, slept in the campground across the street.Update: changing from 1 star to 3 because they were very apologetic and issued a refund.

Fantastic bike shop! They really saved my butt (with a new saddle) on the C&O trail! The shop owner even opened early for us since we were making our way back on the trail bright and early. I’m so appreciative for the hospitality and hope that I get to stop in again someday.

Had a terrific experience with C&O Bicycle! Liz was very nice and helpful on the phone and Andrew did a great job putting my bike together in record time. Super fast and efficient service! I highly recommend the folks at C&O. Will be returning again! Great place!

The shop is Barnhart's Lawn and Garden and they are an authorized Husqvarna and Generac dealership. I purchased a riding lawn mower. The warranty on the equipment is very good.Jimmy is is the owner and has a wealth of knowledge to find something that fits your needs. They also sell parts and service lawn, garden, chainsaws, and many other items.I would highly recommend them for lawn and garden equipment.The front half of the store carries various bicycles for purchase.

Awesome spot. Tuned up my bike and suggested I purchase a spoke wrench for the rest of my journey. Stayed a night in the bunks, which were empty but seem like a good time when more folks are around.

I’m biking on the C&O and had an issue where my back wheel was severely out of true. I came to this shop and they were able to quickly straighten my wheel and fix another issue I was experiencing with my bike rack. The employees were all extremely friendly and kind. Thank you so much for helping me get back on the road!

Saved my skin. Maybe literally 🤔. My pannier rack snapped on one side and would have likely been a face-planting, skin scraping experience had the other side snapped. And I've grown accustomed to my face, so my preference is to keep it. PRAISE BE to these bike gods for this day I have ridden away with a shockingly low price, quality pannier rack that doesn't shake in the wind and subsequently rattle my nerves. The staff was incredibly helpful and patient. Tried to repair my rack before installing a new one which I greatly appreciate.

Cannot say enough good things about this spot!!! We stayed here on our 4th night of our 7 day trip down the GAP and C&O and it was definitely a highlight! The bike shop was extremely cool and being able to take a shower and sleep under a roof was great for our moral. Highly recommend a stop here!

I used to work here years ago and absolutely loved it. As the shop has changed owners over the years, each one has been genuinely caring of the needs of customers! It's also fun to see all the things I painted when I was 12/13 years old (I'm now 35 lol)! I frequent there for a hot shower and they are always accommodating! Can't say enough amazing things about this place!

I was a poor trucker with barely enough money for food but I had my bicycle to ride. An older 3x7 Trek, the cable for the front derailer lost the end cap and kept scratching my ankle.I had some change and offered to buy a few but the guy just gave them to me.This was back in 2018.Kindness goes a long way.I’m on my way back to this area to ride the Great American Rail Trail and plan to stop in and upgrade my bottle cages.

This might be my ideal local bike shop. Literally on the C&O trail. Any gear you might need plus canal swag. And as a plus I was looking jerseys and I was told I could try them on although I was pretty much a mess. I have found that many cycling shops actually seem be customer unfriendly or elitist for some reason (at least the urban ones). C&O Bicycle is AWESOME!

Great local bike shop located right next to the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Trail. Very experienced and friendly staff. We always stop here if not to fix anything then to get some energy bars.

Would recommend this hostel to anyone bikepacking through. Good proximity to multiple restaurants. Away from main roads so it’s quiet. Someone in my group broke a spoke and had some other issues and the shop fixed him up in under 30 minutes right when they opened. They have towels and bike rags and there were soaps/shampoos in the shower. Communal sleeping arrangement but had no issues with other guests.

We absolutely adored these folks. We just wrapped up a tour from Pittsburgh to DC via the GAP and C&O, and after the long, remote slog on rough dirt trail between Cumberland and Hancock, this shop was a godsend.We had several severe mechanicals, and we were able to book beds in the semi-outdoor hostel that night. The hostel was perfect--the semi-outdoor area was enclosed but had wifi and electricity to charge devices, showers were hot, there was even a hose to wash mud off bikes (and dedicated rags for bikes!!!). The shop opened early even on a weekend--most shops I'm used to only open about 10 or 11, but we were able to walk in at 8am to get a wheel repaired for one of our riders. They had it fixed in 45 minutes and we were able to get off on our trip.Lastly, the t-shirt selection was impeccable. Best shirts of any shop on the route by a mile.

C&O Bicycle was a beacon of professionalism and care for our needs. We rode in tired and dirty with a broken bike after 130+ miles on the C&O towpath and Liz and Jimmy addressed our needs immediately. They listened to our story, our concerns, and gave sound suggestions and advice while getting the bike up on the rack ASAP.I recommend stopping here even if you do not need to. The shop is highly accessible and adorable with all bike necessities. They also have a great selection of hats and shirts at affordable prices.We look forward to coming back the next time we rode through just to say hi. We appreciate them and give our highest recommendation.

I was riding to Pittsburgh and broke a spoke. C&O Bicycles was about 40miles north so I limped to it. The store is right off the trail. The people were great. The mechanic replaced the spokes and trued the wheel in about 30 min. I talked with the owner and bought supplies; great trail food. They have a trail side hostel ($15/night). I am biased due to emergency repair but this is the best place on the towpath.

This store is wonderful. I stopped in because of a problem with my front brakes. Andrew quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. Lots of parts and accessories available to enhance or salvage your biking adventure. I would highly recommend them.
