I cannot even tell you the last time I had a salad bar and this one was fabulous. Great variety of vegetables, tuna salad, ham salad, fruit, and a nice selection of dressings. The soups were delicious. The desserts were fresh baked and quite yummy. I bought one of the cakes when we left because it was so good. My Reuben was really good, too! I will definitely eat here again the next time I am in town.

The soup/ salad/ dessert bar was great - clean/fresh/tasty. But the Penn Alps special was disappointing. I always got that when I would visit. Haven't been there for years and was disappointed. The sausage was of poor quality - not the good/ meaty locally made that was made for Penn Alps. Potatoes were mediocre( not the tasty fried). Corn was right out of the can (not the same either). The service was very good and the atmosphere great.Nice gift shop.

The entire experience was ., from the time you walk in and are greeted. You don't get fish chowder unless you're in the bay ....but go figure. The hostess was very friendly and knowledgeable. The waitress was cheerful and bubbly. Rusticly comforting. Order the lunch soup and salad bar. Sampled everything on it and everything was excellent. They have these 2 salad dressings, Red House and White House that everyone should try. Everything just makes you feel layer back and at ease. Food excellent. Can't wait to go back.

This place was absolutely marvelous to stop at. The vibration from going into this place was one of the most welcoming of any restaurant I think I've ever been at. The food was terrific, my reuben sandwich was delivered quickly and food was terrific. They have a really nice buffet and had a reasonable price there are five different dining areas so there's always playing space. I just can't say enough good things about this place, I absolutely go here!!

I stopped here with my sister on a road trip and had a great experience! The atmosphere was quiet, cozy and relaxing. Our server was wonderful and the hostess was very nice as well. The food was also great - I got the grilled chicken wrap and my sister got the buffet. I don't normally like house chips but the ones that came on the side of my wrap were very good! The spicy ranch on the wrap was also great. All around good food, nice atmosphere and great service!

Rally cool place! It seems like it has been around for a longtime! It was kind of awkward at the beginning because I felt out of place! Maybe because everyone I was absolutely the only nonwhite person in there! Everyone was great, welcoming and accommodating! The restaurant serves southern comfort food such as fried chicken, corn, mashed potatoes, ham! They have a nice little salad bar as well! I was told it was home made food but many items seem to have came straight out of a can!The desert bar was the best feature of the place! The coconut cake was super delicious along with the walnut bread and blackberry cobbler..The gift shop has beautiful hand made and very unique household items such as pillows, blankets and quilts all beautifully handmade and kind of expensive!

Such a cozy atmosphere! We stopped here for lunch and it was so nice all decorated for Christmas. A peaceful and cozy stop.I went with the buffet option, and it did not disappoint! Everything was great, especially the clam chowder and the roast beef. The desserts were the only disappointing part- they looked a lot better than they tasted. The gift shop was very cute, and we got a couple lil treats. Definitely recommend stopping here!

Absolutely loved this place! We went on a Saturday for the all-you-can-eat buffet. Everything was excellent! We loved the ribs, fried chicken, ham, green beans, salad bar, and desserts. Definitely worth the money if you're hungry. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was cozy and quiet. We will be back next time we're in the area. Highly recommend!

A lovely, comfortable restaurant with a good buffet and a fascinating historic artist colony nearby! The food was standard American comfort food- the Mac and cheese and gravy were especially good. However, the real highlight was the artisan colony. Everyone was kind and enthusiastic about their crafts, and the historic buildings were beautiful and had lots of information about the area. If you're passing through I really recommend this place!

Beautiful spot and easy detour from 68. Very cute shops by local artisans. The salad bar had a great variety. I got the turkey noodle and it was big chunks of good quality all white meat. Great flavor. My husband got the crab meat soup which was just alright. Really could fill up on the soup and salad bar. I got the Penn Alps special which included the bar. Smoked sausage fried potatoes and their dehydrated corn. Smoked sausage was grilled perfectly. Corn was not good to me. It tasted sweet but the texture was like someone already ate it..and not smooth like creamed. My husband liked it so maybe this is an acquired taste kind of thing. Fried potatoes probably had more grease than the deep fried house chips my husband got with his burger. Overall the food was good but I would probably not order again.. Lunch special lasagna smelled great. Go for the salad bar and the service. They were very quick polite and friendly.

Went this morning and tried the Penn Alps breakfast buffet. 1st time there and we will be back. The buffet had it all...bacon, sausage, eggs, muffins, biscuits, sausage gravy, pancakes, fruit, yogurt, grits and much more. Everything had great flavor and tasted great. The place looks amazing with the Christmas decorations. Look them up and try them, you will not be disappointed.

If you are looking for more than just a quick stop for a place to eat, Penn Alps might be the place for you. It’s more than just a restaurant. After a good home cooked meal, make sure you check out the local crafters demoing their trades ranging from black smithing to wood working to pottery and even quilling. Also next door is the Castleman’s River Bridge. According to signage, this 80 ft bridge was the largest arched stone bridge in its time.

Limited food optionsServers are skimpy on portions servedThe price of one to-go-meal is about the same price as the buffet. They'll nonchalantly bring you the check and ask if "you're ready for desert" as an cue to get you out lol.Beautiful decorFriendly staffClean establishmentWould not recommend based on the food quality

Great spot just enough out of the way from 68. Had the buffet and walked it off through the village. Look forward to coming back at Christmas time.

An interesting stop on our drive home from Kentucky. The food was good. Especially the meatloaf. Just like Mama used to make. The craft village was cool too. Old cabins have been relocated and used for the artists shops. The root cellar was awesome. Worth the visit for sure.

I have been going to Penn Alps since I was in my 20's. I love this place! It is a beautiful place to go to. I chose the buffet. The food is delicious. I like the buffet because there are so many choices to make. The deserts are out of this world! My favorite is the berry cobbler topped with vanilla icecream.Kid-friendliness: Family oriented restaurant.Wheelchair accessibility: It has a slight ramp going in. It has a handicapped parking lot.

We stopped for lunch and had their buffet and it was excellent. Fresh salad fixings, fish, baked and breaded. Fried chicken and shrimp. Also other main foods. This buffet also offered a nice selection of desserts. Nice clean area where the food was served. This was a buffet that they had on a Friday, do not know if they have buffet on Saturday and Sunday. Will stop again as the service was also very good.
