I've been frequenting this Pet Barn location, as well as the one in Annapolis, for the last 4 years. I live in the center between the two, so it depends on the day and what else is needed. My pup has many allergies and stomach problems with regular OTC dog food. My vet suggested putting her on a raw diet with K9 Kraving dog food, which completely changed her health but it's not available at regular pet stores. Pet Barn carries the food she needs, as well as a variety of food to select from, wet to dry (some even freeze dried), other raw varieties, along with treats, snacks, etc. The staff has always been extremely helpful and has even carried the food out to the car for me. Some of the brands have specials (i.e., buy X amount and get one free), buy a case and get one tube of raw food free, etc. Pet Barn's computer system keeps track of past purchases so that the staff can inform you when to expect the free items.

Just wanted to thank the young ladies at Maple Lawn for their help in choosing two jackets and a harness for my dogs. I did not bring the dogs with me, but brought their measurements. They were both helpful in showing me what they had and offering their experience with fitting other dogs. I brought the jackets and harness and all fit perfectly. Very happy with the help and quality products you carry.

This is my go to store to get my pup and kitty's food. They love the food from here! The raw food is the best! My pup is a picky eater, but not with Pet Barn's food.

Love their healthy brands selection! It’s much more pricey than conventional brands at regular stores but you know your pets health is worth it. The staff are super helpful and friendly each time.

We've been going to Pet Barn for a couple of years. The staff is always friendly and helpful. We've been guided to toys that have lasted well over a year, which is huge with a blue heeler who likes to destroy everything. Plus, our dog was having digestive issues, and the owner recommended specific food to help. While the food is not cheap, there is a buyer loyalty reward (but 10 bags and the next is free). Most importantly, our dog has not had the digestive issues since we put him on this food. He loves going to the store and getting pets/treats, and I love that it is a welcoming environment for him.

Came in yesterday evening on a whim to see what they had. After talking to the wonderful staff member in detail about toys that would best suit my dog, I wanted to share my experience! She was so knowledgeable, asked great questions about my dog to get a better idea of what toys would be good for him, and empathized with my concerns over other large chain pet story toys that seemed unsafe for my dog. She answered all of my many questions and was incredibly patient. I could tell she cared about the safety and happiness of my dog. The toys here are high quality and I feel safe giving them to my dog. She gave excellent suggestions and I left spending more than planned, but reassured that my dog would be happy and safe. He loved the toys we brought home for him! We also bought a super cute sushi collar for him and she informed us to be sure of the size since there is a no return policy on collars. I received service I would have never had gotten at a larger chain. We will be back in the future to support this business since their staff was so kind and knowledgeable.

I went to this store regularly at their old location several years ago to buy food for my dog's special diet. The experience then was fine. My dog passed away and after several years we got a new dog. I returned to the store and have visited it a couple of times over the last year. I didn't have the same experience as others here have. The staff was disinterested, unhelpful, and not knowledgeable. They seemed to be unhappy to be disturbed and were rude and snippy. I've been going to the Loyal Companion store on Oakland Mills Rd. and found much better selection, store organization, and engaged and helpful staff.

A absolutely wonderful experience. Picked this place randomly to avoid big box pet stores and avoid pet stores that sell animals due to the conditions they are usually kept in. This store sells a lot of great quality food for dogs and cats as well as treats and clothing for both. We saw some items for rodents and got a toy for our friends pet rat. They have a frozen section for raw food diets. Fresh pet treats were available. We will definitely return and recommend this pet store to others.

Cute stuff with helpful, friendly employees! Stopped by to get a birthday gift for my neighbors dog. They already knew the dog I was talking about and helped me put together gifts for him. I even got a few things for my dog too!

This place is amazing. The staff are super friendly, knowledgeable, and always down to talk shop about your dogs progress once you’re in there a few times and they get to know you. The selection of collars and leashes and treats are really cool and pretty expensive. The only thing that’s stopping me from saying this is the pet shop in the area is that it’s a bit cramped but that’s not their fault it’s more of the confines of the building

I got into the pet food industry because of how rude the owner was to me the first time I walked in, interested in being a better pet parent and some kind of immunity supplement. She scorned me, humiliated me, and ridiculed me. Luckily I really do care about my pets and did some research on my own, switched to raw and saw great results. My dog never got the supplement I was looking for and did end up dying at 6 of lung cancer. If she was nicer and more understanding, I would have switched to raw right there instead of taking months to come to that conclusion and maybe she would still be alive today with a sooner switch. I spent 5 years in the pet food industry and changed many lives in my Zelda’s name until my store was bought by a corporate company, making me look elsewhere eventually. She sells raw under the MSRP which is why I still frequent the business since loyal companion can no longer provide raw diets for my animals. Someone needs to open a new local pet store with holistic options so that I don’t have to shop there anymore! I’ve experienced it, but now I am furiously tired of my partner coming home and telling me she was treated poorly and was disrespected while making ANOTHER $250 purchase. We spend most of our money on our FOUR raw fed animals. Just hope this helps some other customers. Just go in and leave as soon as you can, they only want your money. As for hard goods (not food), the margin is INSANE, so just buy that elsewhere or online. I love supporting local business too, but only if ran by kind humans :)

Everything I need is at this place. I'm so glad that I found this place. Friendly local pet food store. I wish there were more of this store so that I can recommend to my friends & family that live in Baltimore. I drive 8+ miles every week to get treats & food for my furry babies. Most are cheaper than online prices. They have my business till my babies are around, 15+ years to go!

Great store. They love dogs. I always stop by when I am in the neighborhood to get special dog cookies for my pups. On my dog's birthdays I like to bring them to the store to pick out their gifts.

I really enjoy supporting small businesses as much as I can in Howard County, but this one really misses the mark. We’ve shopped here a few times for quick treats for our dogs, which cost a little more than a supermarket or chain pet store, but we didn’t mind.Recently, I needed to purchase a soft e-collar for my Shepherd. I called ahead and asked if they had any in size large. The woman who answered went to check and told me they did. When I got there I mentioned I was the one who called and she led me to the e-collars. They only had XXL. I didn’t complain because I assumed it to be an honest mistake. She made a comment about the size I was purchasing, and I said I figured I’d give it a try since it was already late in the evening. I got home and tried to put it on my dog, but it was way too big, which wasn’t a huge surprise. The tag was still on and I kept the receipt.I brought it back 3 days later, still brand new. The woman I purchased it from was there, along with another employee. I said I was returning it because it was too big, and the other employee immediately said they don’t accept returns on e-collars. She was very rude and dismissive towards me, which was completely uncalled for. She seemed prepared to go on the defensive. I said we hadn’t used it at all because it was too big, and she turned and walked away.The e-collar wasn’t cheap by any means, so I’m not sure why the employee I purchased it from didn’t mention the return policy when I was clearly hesitant on the size. I also didn’t say anything or complain about being told there was a large in stock, when there in fact wasn’t. I don’t argue the validity or purpose of not taking returns, but if I had been told beforehand, I wouldn’t have purchased it. Also, the employee didn’t need to be so rude when I came in for the return, as it was completely unwarranted. Luckily, we were able to donate the e-collar to the nearby humane society. We will not be returning to this store, and will take our business elsewhere. It’s unfortunate their employee has such a foul attitude.

Pet Barn is great. The store is clean and well laid out, the prices are cheaper than other high end feed and specialty pet shops in this area. They participate in the manufacturer rewards program that some brands offer (buy 12 get 1 free). Watch out for one of the employees who will tell you everything she thinks you don't know about everything whether you ask or not.

Place is kind of cramped, especially near the dog treat section. You can barely turn around. The selection is limited. They don't offer a rewards program. Customer service was ok, not great. The Pet Barn in Annapolis is 10x better, and the staff is always super friendly. Only went to this one bc I was out this way. Won't be back.

They don't carry my cat's Science Diet, so I don't go for the food. I go for the super friendly and knowledgeable staff, and the high-quality toys and accessories. They swore by Yeowww! catnip toys and now my chonker is obsessed!

I will agree with others that the staff is my issue. Very rude and not customer friendly to work in a pet store. I really got tired of their behavior and just moved to another business.
