A great commissary, not as large as some, but better run than others I've been to. Staff is great: friendly, competent, and helpful. Meat section is particularly good, fresh produce is "hit or miss," so look at what you buy. My only real issue is that the store brand, "Freedom's Choice" is uniformly mediocre...but that's probably a DECA issue, and not this particular store. Otherwise, this store is a reliably great experience.

LOVE this little Commissary...about half the number of items that you would find in a full size Commissary but has MOST of the basics! BONUS.....normally not crowded either!!!!!Andy and Lucy in Historic Gettysburg PA USA!!!!🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

This commissary’s prices can’t be beaten. This is a place for Service members, Veterens, and dependents. Nice selection on vegetables, fruits, and much more.

If you have military privileges, take the time to shop here. It's a small commissary. But the management apparently has done their homework. They know what rotates. They know what goes stale. They will be out of produce from time to time. But that's how they keep it fresh. Their choices of ethnic foods is limited, but if they carry it it's probably because it's good. In times when you have to pinch pennies, shop here first you'll save money.

First-time visit here. The Commissary was very clean, organized and had all the essentials. The stock was good. The quality of fruits and vegetables was good. And, the staff were friendly and helpful. We'll be back.

If you live on base and don’t feel like going off base, this place is convenient.The place is a shop at your risk Wild West of food.If something is expired they try to blame the vendor, but the Deli should keep track of quality.I check the expiration date of every single thing I put in the shopping basket, and I gave up returning expired deli/meat stuff.They try to argue with you and I’m not smell it. If it smells like rotten roadkill the moment you open the bag, then it’s not good, don’t tell me it’s normal.If you can go to Food Lion when the Housing Gate is open, that’s a safer option. Anywhere else is overpriced

Always clean and well kept. Love the fresh made sushi! Storewide sidewalk sales are nice when they have them. Lose one star at this location due to the tipped staff assuming you want their help walking a few bags to your car. Just ask. Sometimes I want help, other times I do not.

was not pleased at all that they did not match the soda price of the mini-mart. they charged $2 more per 12 pack than at the mini-mart. No wonder why the mini-mart ran out of the flavor that I was looking for.

The fruit and vegetable selection is actually disgusting. It doesn’t seem to really even be monitored, there are fruits molding and I don’t understand how the store can keep that on the shelf. I guess the prices are better than off post, but the quality is insanely bad.

On Saturday, July 2, 2022, I had occasion to be shopping in the Ft Detrick Commissary. I was at one of the self check out lanes. While I was doing a "search for item", I was personally greeted by Blessie Viands and asked if I needed any assistance. Her pleasant greeting and offer to help was welcomed and appreciated. She patiently explained the operation and gave me some very helpful hints to help me navigate through the checkout. She made me feel like I was her favorite customer of the day. Her warm, personal greeting immediately put me at ease. She then spent a few minutes explaining to me, in simple terms, how to understand and quickly move through the checkout process. It was obvious to this Octogenarian she was well qualified in her capacity. She also amazed me with her ability to multi-task as she even fielded questions from other cashiers and customers, without making me feel like I was neglected. It was a great learning experience for me as well as a refreshing display of great customer service on the part of Blesssie and I didn't want it to go unnoticed. Blessie's knowledge of her position, attention to detail, and excellent customer service reflects great credit upon herself and the Ft. Detrick Commissary. It was a good experience and I came away with a huge smile on my face.

I shop at the Ft Detrick commissary approximately every five days. The staff in all the departments , especially in the produce, are very helpful and patient with my requests. Thank-you to Gloria and Nancy in the produce department for assisting me whenever I need help ! The cashiers are cheerful and helpful.(I must add that I have never been in a cleaner restroom !) Thank-you all for your hard work maintaining my favorite place to shop for my groceries!Jane Chisholm

As many other reviews mention, the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The store itself carries a good selection of necessities. Produce section carried a great selection of fruits and vegetables at competitive prices to other grocery stores. Meat selection was decent and staff offered assistance as necessary.

Community based nestled in Frederick with easy access from major highways. I can trust the pricing displayed at this location are accurate with the digital pricing computerized on the shelves. I've been to a larger commissary and pricing you see are not accurate; a plus go to to Fort Detrick's commissary. This location stays on top of their inventory for the partons.

This store is the right size and I love that. The prices are great. ALL the employees treat you like a friend. They try to be helpful to friends in their store - they cut you a larger (or smaller) roast if you need it, they check your eggs at the register. Last week the cashier mentioned that the price on avocados jumped, in case I hadn't noticed (I hadn't). They talk to you when you check out. They've spoiled me and I now hate going to other stores.

Above average for a commissary. Smaller than most, but a decent selection. People bagging your groceries are friendlier than at the bigger stores and not as pushy if you want to carry your own stuff. Have yet to find any expired products on the shelves, so definitely better than most.

I've been onle a couple times but they offer a wide selection of goods and are extremely helpful! All the employees are so courteous and they go out of their way to lend a hand in any way. I only went with my sister and her husband who are military, as I wouldn't be able to alone but would highly recommend to anyone that is a member or could be and hasn't looked into it! It is highly worth it!

Excellent Commissary!. Not the largest but has 90% of what most people are looking for a great prices. I drive to this commissary even though other stores are closer because it is 1) not as crowded, 2) good parking, 3) people are polite, and 4) organized.

The commissary here is one of the smallest I’ve shopped at. Their international food aisle is paltry—particularly with Asian food staples. Yes, there is an H-Mart in town for that. It’s just surprising how tiny this section of the commissary is compared to any commissary I’ve been to CONUS and overseas.We mostly come here to shop for meat and cheese anyway. We save the produce shopping for places off post.For the most part, the facility is clean and the workers are friendly enough.Biggest issue I have shopping here is no matter how sparsely populated this small commissary is at any given time, you’re sure to encounter at least one individual (On average, it’s more like three.) who blatantly disregard the 6 feet rule and engage in a series of micro aggressions towards other shoppers because they are miserable, impatient, uncouth, entitled human beings. And then they act like you’re the AH who purposely planted themselves in aisle 3 just so you could mess up their day!You either get into a war of words with them (and risk causing a scene and getting kicked out) or step aside—thereby enabling their sense of ENTITLEMENT to engage with pretty much everyone else in the store in the same way.I’ve always observed that no one mistreats the military more so than other people from within the military community itself. NO ONE.

This would probably be a 3 star review because it is on the small side but the consistent exceptional customer service pushes my review one star higher. The cashiers really do try to save you money by being mindful of deals and coupons, which I really appreciate.

Store floors were dirty, produce was old. U friendly staff, a lot of items sold out on shelves. People stocking shelves while shoppers in store, unfriendly too. Check o ut is slow and unfriendly register workers, have to bag yourself or pay someone to do it for you. Just an uncomfortable situation. High fees on reciept to use this store. Do not recommend

Love shopping here. Today I bought TV dinners, sausage, apples, porterhouse steak, and Reemes noodles. Wanted Tim Horton coffee but they only had it in decaf. Why would anyone buy coffee decaffeinated?

I like to shop at Fort Detrick Commissary. They have limits on how many you can purchase of the most wanted items during the Covid 19 quarantine. This ensures that everyone can buy something they need. I wish other stores would do that to discourage hoarders. Everything from entrance to checkout is done in a smooth orderly fashion, but that could be because military people are quite good at following the rules (orders).
