Got my tattoo done by Josh. Excellent work and extremely well-priced for the quality of work. Went for a walk-in and in less than 30 minutes I was sitting in the chair! Josh does excellent work and A-roll is such a great energy to be around after first walking into the shop. I will be back, and I recommend this shop to anyone visiting downtown Frederick :)

I highly recommend Classic Electric!!In the last few months I got three tattoos from Josh DeFrance and some good advice from A-Roll (the fellow who works the counter). Every time, it was a nice atmosphere with fun conversation and good music. The guys were great about explaining my options (without mansplaining). Josh’s artistic flair resulted in a great arm-band with Celtic detail. A-Roll helped convey my ideas to Josh in a way that the designs worked out awesomely.

I have been going to Classic Electric for about 16 years. I have always been so happy with the quality of the artists there, and more importantly, I have come to think of the employees there as friends. It’s such a relaxed, non-snobby atmosphere (that you know you’ve all experienced at some other places). Their artists always welcome design feedback from the client because they don’t want you to have a bad experience, or to have sub par work out in the world. As long as I live in Frederick, I’ll go to Classic Electric.

This place is astounding. First of all, they spent so much time with me on my design before we even got started with the process. It was so helpful and genuinely great to have people actually care about a design you care about, instead of just saying ok whatever. They actually talked things over and helped me come up with a much better representation of what was in my head. My artist was Esteban, and I cannot say enough kind and wonderful things about him. He spent so much time on my design himself and talked things over with me before we even got started. It was reassuring that he actually spent so much time making sure everything was perfect. It really put my mind at ease. He was very professional, made me feel comfortable through the whole process, and you can tell he loves his work. Everyone there seems to love their work. That goes a long way in my book. When people love what they do and where they are, that's always a good sign. I would definitely check this place out for your next tattoo. I know I will definitely be back here for my next one.

Got a tattoo from Josh this winter and have a friend who has gotten two from them. They are AMAZING. Such a great shop and Josh is a great artist. I trust him with my life lol. The shop is super clean and all the staff is great!

I will never go here again.TL/DR - if they can't do something, they'll try to make you feel bad about what you want. They absolutely cannot and will not do fine line tattoos. They also gave me crooked tattoos 10 years ago (read more below for more on why I didn't write a review about this sooner).I got 4 small tattoos done by them about 10 years ago. The first 2 were done by an artist (can't remember his name now) and I had an appt with the same guy to do the last 2 but he had an emergency so instead of cancelling the appt they had another guy step in. The last 2 tattoos (all were small words that were aligned on my hip) were completely crooked. I figured I'd get them touched up after I eventually had kids so no big deal, right? Ok cool.So fast forward to 2 months ago, I went in asking about another tattoo I wanted. My husband has recently had a good experience at Classic so I was like "hey sure, I'll go to them again - the guy who did my crooked ink can't possibly still be there. And if he is, hopefully he doesn't suck anymore". Well, that experience was far worse. I went in-person to make my appt so I could show them what I wanted, and I'm so glad I did because this would have been even worse if I had tried to do this over the phone, made the appt and then went in to get it done.The guy at the desk - Errol (spl?) - pretty much shamed me about my idea and placement (a very fine line dinosaur on my wrist) and convinced me that what I wanted wasn't possible where I wanted it. I made the appt anyway for some reason and then when I got home I had so much anxiety that I convinced my husband to take my appt. He's happy with his tattoo. And I've since found another local artist with a private studio who did a beautiful job with my dinosaur idea - and he put it exactly where I wanted it.They have a cool shop dog though. That counts for something, I guess?

Brandon was an absolute sweetheart, making sure i was comfortable with the rib placement, and guiding me through the process. he was very light handed, and gave me tap out options if i needed them. came back today for a touch up, and had the same amazing experience! already booked another tattoo with his art! highly recommend both Brandon and Classic Electric Tattoo!

Piercing review here! I’ve came here for a couple of piercings, and I’ve loved it! Rob is so calm, knowledgable, and skilled at what he does. He knows a lot about how your anatomy can impact a piercing, and does an excellent job at explaining this and working with you to ensure that you have the piercing you want. Wow. Amazing service! My friend and I initially went in for a Medusa piercing and a nose piercing and the piercer, Rob, examined my lip and advised against a Medusa which I appreciated. I ended up getting my tongue pierced which was the better option. Rob was patient, kind and obviously very experienced. The young man who handles phone calls was also so sweet and patient with us getting us in after we initially canceled for the same time we ended up coming in. Seriously one of the best piercing experiences I’ve ever had! Thank you guys so much! We will be back! :)

I have went to a few different tattoo parlors in the past and this is by far the best. Not only did they do a great job with my tattoo, but they also advised me not to get knuckle tattoos back when I was a young simple minded 18 year old. I went with my sister to get her first tattoo, a small one to commemorate her late dog. I have a few tattoos, so I know how the process should go. We were first time customers at this place. The call back for the appointment was quick and prompt, however problems arose at our arrival. They were not welcoming at all, and the tattoo artist gave no introduction of himself. Then, the artist, Brandon, showed us the sketch he had prepared, based on a reference photo/personal drawing, and it was inaccurate. He was unwilling to make the corrections and offered no willingness to change the size or take suggestions. After some hesitancy, my sister asked to change the design to a more simplistic personal drawing. He had a previous similar art piece printed of the same dog, but a different customer. It just happened to be memorializing the same dog, so she was willing to go ahead with the tattoo. Placement was the next issue. He argued the placement, which was well thought out and personal. He became argumentative after she was sure of the placement she liked and suggested she was rude. The whole process was just unprofessional and very uninviting. I was told to leave after I addressed his attitude. It was a very simple tattoo and the establishment was empty. Difficult to understand the reason for the hostility. He did return the $100 deposit, but asked both of us to not return. No worries, Brandon, we won't!

I got my first piercing here approx 14 years ago and returned today for a Tragus re-piercing and cartilage piercing today. My mom also got a cartilage piercing. Everyone working there is so welcoming and friendly. Rob was so nice and patient with us. Everything was thoroughly sanitized and there was an awesome selection of jewelry. 4/14/23Classic Electric didn’t do anything.I made a 1:00 appointment 3 weeks ago, showed up 10 minutes early saw Eric walk upstairs at 1:00 and was told he’d be right down. 1:14 was told “Eric was on a business call he’d be down a minute.” 1:22 was told “Eric was on a business call he’ll be a minute.” 1:26 I walked out.Of course I lost my $100.00 deposit.expensive lesson learned.Heads Classic Electric wins tails I lose.
