Not that impressed.I was visiting Frederick MD and found this place because they have some gluten free options. Overall, the gluten free choices aren’t that many and a little under whelming.Although the service was friendly, it took a while to get our food. We were larger group (9) so they placed us in a larger room in the back by ourselves. Staff barely checked on us and it took a while (40+ minutes) to get our food.It took a lot of pull to get information about gluten free options available. If I didn’t ask directly, no guidance was given. When I mentioned I had to eat gluten free, I hoped someone would help guide me through the menu, but that didn’t happen. So just kept asking about everything!I ended up with the crab dip which was tasty. The chicken I ordered was a bit dry, and as you can see by the picture, the crab topping was minimal. Nothing exciting about the meal. Not sure I would recommend or go back.Plenty of parking.

Best meal since we were there last year. We have already made reservations for Christmas. Went there with family and everyone loved thier food!!! The staff was so amazing and it was such a joyful experience. The newly renovated place is just lovely and it is worth every penny. We had a high quality meal and we want to do it again and again. Thank you for being such a great family destination, we are patrons for life. ❤️Just had Christmas dinner with the family and once again Carraige House did not disappoint. The crab dip was so delicious as well as the fried shrimp for "first bites". We had an order of each for 5 people and it was perfect, although my daughter said the fried shrimp was so yummy she would eat it as her entree next time we eat here. Everyone's entrees were wonderful, it was prime rib Thursday so I was thrilled and the accompanying horseradish sauce was divine. Everyone devoured thier mashed potatoes, they really are beyond. Our server was Bonnie and she was exceptional. She was so sweet, competent and most of all patient, she made our meal and experience top notch. May I suggest the turtle cheesecake for dessert, save room it is worth it!! Thank you for making our holiday even merrier Carraige House!!

Went for Sunday brunch, and it was our first time visiting. We were not disappointed. The interior is clean, fresh, and had plenty of seating. The service was fast, the food was delicious. Our server was attentive and friendly. The big breakfast plate was a lot of food! The fruit cup was fresh, too. Bottomless good coffee. Parking is right out front. We'll be back!

Last night we celebrated a big birthday for my husband. One of our friends had eaten many meals at the Carriage House, but it was a long time ago. She urged us to "Try it agaIN". BOY ARE WE GLAD WE DID! It was a Thursday - prime rib day. I stared at this enormous, perfectly cooked chunk of beef. It was lightly seared, but the entire 2+ inches of it was deliciously pink throughout. SO TENDER! My companions loved the "Emmitsburg" which was equally tender beef slices, piled high atop yummy mashed potatoes, asparagus, sauce and a bun. Another really loved the Veal dish. Needless to say, we all came home with doggy bags and will have another full meal out of them. The place looks fabulous. Newly redone, it retains all the old charm and architecture, but it looks new and beautifully refreshed. Service was terrific. We plan to tell all of our friends what a perfect evening out we had there. THANK YOU!Dietary restrictions: I am gluten free and lactose free, and had no problem finding a dish that met my restrictions.Parking: Just drive in from Rte 15 North just past Mt St Mary's - on S Seten Avenue. As you approach the town, the Carriage House is on the left, with its large parking lot in front of the historic building.

Beautiful, and historic restaurant in a quaint town. We walked in without reservations and we were surprised with a live Piano player. Very nice! I had the Pork Chop. My wife had the meat loaf. Both were excellent! What a nice surprise to find this gem, just about 20 minutes drive north of Frederick. Highly recommend! Well done 🙌🏻

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Carriage House in Emmitsburg, MD, and I must say, it was a truly delightful experience. From the warm and inviting ambiance to the attentive and friendly staff, everything about this restaurant exudes a sense of charm and sophistication.I opted for the surf and turf plate, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. The combination of flavors and textures was simply mouthwatering. The surf portion of the dish consisted of perfectly seared scallops that were incredibly tender and had a delightful caramelized crust. The accompanying turf, a succulent steak cooked to perfection, was juicy, flavorful, and cooked exactly to my liking. It was evident that the kitchen staff takes great care in selecting high-quality ingredients and executing each dish with precision. The plate was beautifully presented, with vibrant colors and artful plating. It was evident that a lot of attention to detail went into creating this culinary masterpiece. The sides that accompanied the main dish were equally impressive. The roasted vegetables were cooked to perfection, retaining a nice crunch while still being tender and flavorful. The buttery mashed potatoes were the perfect complement to the main course, providing a rich and creamy element to balance out the flavors. The service at The Carriage House was impeccable. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu, offering suggestions and answering any questions I had. They were attentive without being intrusive, ensuring that I had everything I needed throughout the meal. The waitstaff's friendly and professional demeanor further enhanced the overall dining experience. In addition to the outstanding food and service, The Carriage House offers a charming and cozy atmosphere. The restaurant is housed in a beautifully restored historic building, and the interior exudes a warm and welcoming vibe. The rustic décor and soft lighting create a relaxed and intimate setting, making it an ideal spot for a special occasion or a romantic evening out.Overall, my experience at The Carriage House was nothing short of exceptional. The surf and turf plate was a true delight, showcasing the culinary expertise of the kitchen staff. Combined with the attentive service and charming atmosphere, dining at The Carriage House is an experience I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a memorable and delicious meal in Emmitsburg, MD.

A last second decision to have a burger for lunch, plus a good friends' recommendation led me to the Carriage House Inn, and I'm happy it did. From the moment I walked in and encountered Linda at the hostess stand I knew this was the place for me. She was professional, with a great sense of humor. I hadn't thought to make a reservation, so I called from the lobby to set one up (she got a kick out of that) and when she asked me what time, I looked at my watch and said, "oh, right about now". Thankfully, they had plenty of available seats as they had just opened for lunch.Theresa was my server and recommended her favorite burger, a mushroom and swiss. I hadn't come in thinking mushroom/swiss, but I'm glad I took her advice, as the burger was juicy and fantastic. She was yet another lively part of this establishment with a great sense of humor. The Carrigae House Inn was lovely inside and out, not what I was expecting, and better than I could have hoped for in terms of the friendliness of the staff. I am certain locals know about this spot and come often, but as I was just in for lunch, it was an absolutely fantastic surprise. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone, and intend to go back for another meal soon.

We had our April 2021 wedding at Zigbone Farm Retreat in Sabillasville, Maryland, just down the road from the Carriage House. We originally just went for a tasting to see a hyper-local option for our wedding reception caterer, and ended up booking Carriage House to cater our rehearsal dinner, reception, and small breakfast the day after the wedding! We were so impressed by the quality of the food and the care of the team we worked with. It was honestly difficult to choose which entrees we wanted to serve at the reception because everything we had was so delicious and the presentation was impressive as well. Throughout our wedding weekend, our guests enjoyed everything from passed hors d'oeuvres to NY strip steak to COVID-safe packaged pastries and coffee the morning after the wedding. We received some great feedback about the meals from our guests. Kristy and Chef T were so personable and helpful during the whole process. They answered any questions we had and worked with us to help keep us and our guests safe during our COVID-era wedding. From set up to delivery to the bartending service, event staff were friendly, helpful and professional.

Last night was our third and last Valentines Day dinner at the Carriage House Inn. Everything about the experience was bad. It was a cold and windy night. The exterior door opens directly to the hostess station and the back wall of the hostess station has a large cut-out the size of a picture window so that the cold wind passed directly into the dining area every time the exterior door opened. Just our luck to be seated under the wall cut-out so that we were cold throughout the meal. Plus, the hostess had the nasty habit of sticking her head through the cut-out repeatedly. Her head came directly between myself and my wife. So much for any sense of privacy during our meal. We were really uncomfortable all in all. Why in God's name hasn't the restaurant closed off the cut-out? It would just take a piece of plywood and the whole experience would be vastly better. The hostess should know better than to be sticking her face into our meal, especially on Valentines Day. So much for a romantic experience.Unfortunately, the food and service were just as bad.Food: We come to the Carriage House partly because it always offers roast beef on Valentines Day. In the past the meat has been pretty good, maybe even outstanding. Not in 2024. This year the meat was very tough and difficult to cut! A real let down. Also, every entree came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Portion size was never a problem before. But this year, there must have been a potato and asparagus famine. The potatoes came in the form of a small perfectly formed half dome that must have been served with a small ice cream scooper. A small solid unappetizing mass. Not fluffy or whipped the way good mashed potatoes should be served. And the asparagus spears were scrawny at best and few in number. I do better at the frozen food department of my grocery store.Service: Someone needs to train the servers. She brought our first and second courses at the same time. The first courses must have been sitting out for a good while. While this didn't affect my wife's salad, my french onion soup was pretty sad. The cheese on top was room temperature and had cooled to the point that it was difficult to eat with a spoon while the soup underneath was already lukewarm. I have had onion soup at the Carriage House before and it was very good but our server ruined mine last night.Value for our money: NOT!I think I will avoid the Carriage House in the future unless improvements are made. Now to find a good restaurant that serves good roast beef.

We ended up at Carriage House Inn late this evening. I ordered Chicken Chesapeake and my husband had a burger. I clearly asked the waiter if it had lump crab meat and he said yes. I asked for the sauce to be separate container.Surprise surprise $28 for Heavy coated old bay chicken with literally Crab Dip. It was awful, literally a waste of money. The chicken was salty and dry. Save your money and skip their Chicken Chesapeake.

We held our son’s rehearsal dinner here this past week for 28 people and I was so impressed with the quality of the food, the food was delicious and every guest was so happy with their meal. Plus our servers were great. Working with Kristy was such a pleasure, she kept in touch with me through out the months of planning for this dinner. I highly recommend this place for your next event! We will definitely be there more often! Thank you Carriage House Inn for making their dinner such a wonderful evening.

Old historic building nicely decorated inside. This was top notch food beautifully presented and very friendly and fast service. First, a warm mini loaf of fresh bread was brought to the table along with pumpkin butter. Menu selections were scrumptious. Caesar salad was ice cold with perfect dressing and homemade croutons. Crab chowder was rich and filled with crabmeat. The special, trout stuffed with crabmeat, was heaven. Roasted butternut squash cubes were moist and browned in their slight sweetness; asparagus was perfectly cooked. Chicken Florentine was wonderful. My brother thought the stuffed mushrooms with crabmeat could have been cooked a tad more but were tasty. The final glory was homemade berry pie warmed with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Entrees run $24-32. Parking lot is large. Bathrooms clean and pretty. Great destination restaurant - we drove up from D.C. through beautiful rolling countryside.

Charming setting, delicious food. The signature cream of crab soup is sinfully rich, with a hint of sherry and thick enough to use as a dip. The lunch servings are generous, just enough to feel pampered, but not overly stuffed. The one issue is parking - this place is so popular that the small lot is hard to get into, and nearby street parking is not an option. Prepare to walk a block or two.

Stopped in for Sunday brunch along our drive to Gettysburg. My husband and I flew in from Texas and wanted to check out the little towns along the route. So glad to have stopped by. The hospitality here is very welcoming. It was pretty packed and we realize we will probably be waiting a bit as most people had a reservation. Surprisingly we only waited about 10 mins before we were seated. Our waitress took very good care of us and the food was delicious. It was very cozy inside just listening to the music play and seeing families enjoy a meal together. Thank you, Chef, for the delicious meal. Please, stop by if you’re ever in the area.

The ribeye was not very flavorful and it was tougher than other ribeyes I’ve had. The crab cake had fillers. I’m a spoiled Maryland girl and prefer my crabcakes to be jumbo lump but then this place did not say it would be jumbo lump so that’s understandable. Their wedge salad was THE BEST SALAD IVE EVER HAD! And the LOADED POTATOES were TO DIE FOR! The server we had, Lauren, was WONDERFUL! We loved her.

My father passed away and my 2 siblings and I were looking for a venue to host his Celebration of Life dinner. I decided to reach out to The Carriage House Inn. Kristy promptly responded to my online inquiry and we communicated back and forth discussing specifics on what we were looking for. Thank you for your excellent communication, flexibility and assistance. Everything came together beautifully on such short notice. We were set for October 28th, in the Tack Room. The room was perfect- comfortable, clean and set up so nicely. The food was delicious. At our special request, Chef had to prepare a custom meal based on Greek tradition. Our thanks and appreciation for going above and beyond - a job well done! Our servers, Andrew and Claudia were kind, attentive and excellent. They were patient with all of our guests- and the room was packed! They kept on top of the water/drinks and anything else anyone requested. Having a room full of Greeks can, in a good way, get a little chaotic but once we finally got everyone in their seats, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal and gathering together that evening, and we couldn't have been happier!!! The Carriage House Inn truly delivered in accommodating our Dad's Celebration of Life.Thank you again to Kristy, Chef, Andrew & Claudia for EXCELLENT service for a memorable evening honoring our father!!!

During Friday dinner hours in the Christmas shopping and dining season, against my judgement we did not make a reservation..embarrassing! A very gracious hostess seated us at a small table in a drafty area. We were grateful to be seated after she took care of her reserved customers(5 min). Our orders took a long time to come and cooled quickly; there was a full dining room.We enjoyed old favorites and seasonal music played live on a grand piano in the room...a real treat! The wine selection was prosaic; the waiter gave an extra effort to substitute for my first choice: a Grenache. Both of his choices were too sweet: the first was called "Rebel Red;" it was like grape juice; the second was probably a Reisling. Again, with so many customers, I didn't have the heart to ask our charming, smiling waiter to go back for another sample. My husband was able to help finish the glass.Warm rolls and two ample salads kept our appetites at bay while we waited for the entrees. My husband ordered a pumpkin (squash?)soup. It appeared that mashed potatoes and steamed green beans are the standard sides; they were rich and delicious. I ordered prime rib, med rare. It was medium, but very good. The accompanying juice was way too salty and may have included MSG. Idid not taste the horseradish sauce. My husband ordered sea bass. I'll try that next visit.Uncharacteristically, but in the spirit of the season we ordered coffee and dessert. We shared one triple chocolate cake and one bread pudding. The cake frosting was authentic butter cream, and the bread pudding was buttery and perfect. I wish I had taken photos, but the food was cooling quickly. We are looking forward to our next visit. The menu says there is a Sunday buffet. We have been looking for a place that offers one after church on Sundays. I will call and ask if a reservation is required.Parking: 3-4 Accessible spots in front of the door.

My spouse and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and decided to give The Carriage House Inn a try. The location was ideal as its right off route 15 in Emmitsburg near FEMA facility. I emailed them for a reservation as they don’t belong to OpenTable or have a form. The place was charming and the food was very good. We will definitely return.

My partner and I came here after a session at Liberty Mountain Resort, about 10 mins away. Had a great time, there was a house pianist playing while we dined. Our server was gracious and the food pretty good. I ordered the Ahi Tuna for an appetizer, 10 straps with wasabi aioli, ginger and soy sauce. For my entree, I tried The Emmitsburg, named after the town its in. Roast beef cooked medium well with mashed potatoes and asparagus on top of garlic toast. For dessert, we tried the blackberry sorbet ice cream. Not too sweet, so she enjoyed. She also enjoyed the Moscato punch with her entree.
