This is a tough review to write, because my wife and I have shopped at T&C for many years. But facts are facts, and rotten customer service is rotten customer service, no matter how you cut it. So, for what it’s worth, here goes. On Friday or Saturday, April 12 or 13, 2024, I visited T&C to purchase a large (2 lb) container of chicken salad. I’ve lost count long ago of the number of times that my wife and I have purchased this product, which, in our opinion, is the best chicken salad to be found in the area. T&C’s chicken salad isn’t cheap (it was more than $25 for the 2 lb container), but we’ve always thought that it was worth it. This time, however, something was a bit off with the salad. When my wife opened it the following day to make a sandwich, the salad just didn’t smell quite right, and the taste matched—something was a bit off. That’s never happened before, but rather than risk an infection by a food-borne pathogen, we chose not to consume any more but rather to return the product for a replacement.That happened today (April 17), or at least I tried to make that happen. Instead, I was met with a rude, utterly unaccommodating individual behind the checkout counter (I don’t know whether she was a manager or owner), who abruptly told me that the chicken salad couldn’t be returned because it was perishable; that she was unwilling to give any refund to me for the product (I never asked for a refund; I merely wanted a replacement but I could hardly get that out before she stridently jumped in); and that, for my trouble, she’d offer to make a sandwich for me. She further said that the store has this “policy” (the best that I can discern, the “policy” is not to stand behind what they sell), because they have no way of knowing how a food product like this was handled or stored when it left T&C. Fair enough, I told her, but, in my case, I purchased the chicken salad, drove straight home to Oxford (about a 13 minute drive), and placed the container in our refrigerator (which is set to 37 degrees, per the manufacturer’s recommendation). The T&C employee/owner replied that “of course, everyone says that,” to which I asked whether she was implying that I was lying to her. The interaction went downhill from there, although it’s hard to fall from the floor.If this had been a bag of chips or some other, inexpensive product, I wouldn’t have bothered. But T&C’s large container of chicken salad is north of $25. The right thing to do would have been to take the product back and provide a replacement, which is all that I wanted. This individual, however, thought that the better course was to act rudely, implicitly accuse me of lying, and then, in essence, to tell me to pound sand because this was a “perishable” product. Of course, it’s perishable. But that doesn’t mean that it can be sold in a state that is or may well be spoiled. Moreover, I wasn’t asking T&C to put the product back in the deli for further sale; I was merely asking for a replacement.As I said, we’ve shopped at T&C for years. Today, they lost a long-standing customer and every ounce of goodwill that they had developed over those years. For the rest of you, buyer beware. T&C doesn’t stand by its food products.

It's worth going in just for the... Aroma.......!! The place smells good!!! it's well maintained . A huge selection of beverages. Pleasant professional staff and delicious fresh food that gives off the wonderful 👍 aroma. I been eating and buying food here since 1985..... I was just back since COVID... Keep up the good work guys.

Great place to get beer or wine and their sandwiches are pretty good too. They can make them anyway you want and they come expertly prepared. Coming from New York I'm really picky about my sandwich and even though this is not a NY sandwich Town and Country is my top place to visit when I'm in St. Michaels craving for a taste of home 😋

We have ordered deli party trays and salads from here for our last few office meetings. Without fail they have always exceeded expectations. The first time we ordered we had only a hour or two notice and they were able to save us, with little hassle displayed, while other locations turned us down for not having 24 hour notice. This event alone has put them at the top of our list for all of our other big lunches.We occasionally have ordered subs and sandwiches from here for individual lunches which have been great too! All the employees I have personally encountered whether that be on the phone or in store have been super helpful.I have not bought anything from their wine, liquor and beer selections as I don't drink anymore but was impressed by the variety and stock. I have seen multiple employees helping customers carry out their purchases to their vehicles. That isn't something you see very often anymore. It is appreciated!Keep up the great quality of service you guys offer! I will continue to recommend you to everyone possible!

For $12.67 I would seriously consider getting a sandwich anywhere else but this deli. Personnel were very friendly. The product was anything but.

Purchased a relatively expensive bottle of wine from this liquor store a few weeks ago, when i went to open it recently and removed the foil only to find the wine had leaked past the cork. To my surprise when i tried to return/exchange the wine i was told it cannot be exchanged without a receipt. For a store that prides itself on customer service this left much to be desired and left a very bad taste in this ex-customers mouth. In this day & age it's probably time to rethink that policy T&C !

I can only speak to the deli. Some of the staff are very condescending, I usually just ignore that but today one staff member was so blatantly rude and condescending to two separate occasions to older customers who were just slightly unsure of the logistics of where to stand or where to wait. The sandwiches are pretty good but it’s not worth the uncomfortable energy you always get go in there. If you can’t handle being busy without being rude to the people trying to give you money you should working in the food industry.

I agree with the other 1-Star reviews about poor customer service and attitude. Shopped here regularly for several years, more for convenience … after my last visit now I give up and switch to another store. Surprisingly for a small retail operation the staff have never been particularly welcoming, friendly or pleasant … even the owner Brooke’s attitude has gone from unfriendly to almost rude and acts as though customers are an inconvenience for shopping at the store.

These folks are WONDERFUL! They have a great variety of wines and spirits with a fabulous deli. The staff are knowledgeable and very eager to help. Prices are the full range, and they have a whole section inside the door of affordable good wines. They also do keg sales which comes in handy during tailgate season. Highly recommended

As a disclaimer, it is important that I mention that I work in retail sales and take customer service very seriously. I take great pride in it, in fact. For this same reason, I absolutely understand rough days for an employee in such a profession. However, with two back to back experiences here, the trend of absolutely abysmal customer service has left me with a very sour taste for this store. Not one, but multiple members of the staff are incredulous, rude, and even blatantly disrespectful. Upon my second experience, there will not be a third.

Great small town treasure! They have a great selection and will order anything they don't have if it is available in Maryland. The staff knows there stuff and on the slim chance that they don't have an answer they will find it. Years and years of good stuff happening in this big green building.

We used Town & Country for a deli platter and salad for a company meeting a few years back, which they were able to put together last minute when no one else would. Since then we have used them every time we have visitors in our office and it is always excellent service and food, plus we always get complimented on the lunch they provide!

If I could give this liquor store a half of a star I would. I don't even know where to start. I was interested in buying a bottle of wine for my girlfriend. I called the store and I was transferred to a woman named Brooke. She seemed like she was bothered by me asking her a simple question. If you are too stressed out to answer a customers question about wine maybe you shouldn't be working at a liquor store. I wanted to make sure I got something palatable since all of the wine was marked up and overpriced...I was so off put by the rude employee that I decided to take my business elsewhere. Management should really look into who they're hiring or provide better phone etiquette when training employees.... Such poor customer service.

I was impressed with the broad selection of beer, wine, and spirits. Brooke, the owner was super helpful. We made our alcohol selections for our wedding here, and she walked us through each alcohol type and gave guidance on brand cost and popularity. I really appreciated her help!

Decent selection but the staff act as you are an inconvenience to them . Very cold and impersonal. I stopped going there a few years ago because of this. I decided to give them another try, has the same experience. Some of the shelves are hard to see because they are so close together and tall

Always great service and an amazing selection of wines, beer, and booze. Truly, it is the people who make the difference here. They remember their regulars and take the time to say "hello" even if they're busy. Prices are always competitive, which is a plus.

I purchase almost all my craft beer here; good selection of Flying Dog brews, my favorite brewery (but $ 1.00 less a 6 pack in NJ ???). Ordered a chicken salad sandwich with double cheese and they shorted me. Good sandwich, but.......I'll be back but maybe not for lunch.

Is Customer Service a thing of the Past since this Horrible Pandemic started....(**So Horrible the Death Toll for the US has been unchanged for the last 3 years...🤔)I simply asked when the plastic shields were coming down since no one was wearing a mask (which is Very Refreshing) & I thought we could be returning to some normalcy but apparently I Struck a Nerve as both owners raised their voice at me, the customer, and asked me why I was picking a Fight!Wow..Check your personal prejudices at the door please....My recommendation is to go to ANY OTHER LIQUOR STORE THAN THIS ONE! ~Luke H.
