Went to pickup my very first online order(typically I do giant pickup never had a issue). My window was between 6-8. I live about 25 minutes away and arrived around 630 after picking up my other groceries across the street. Never experiencing this before my order said it was delayed. I realized I got an email a whole 15 minutes before my pickup time. 30 minutes after my pickup time It had not even been shopped yet. The poor woman running the online pick up was working ALONE on a Friday! I place 0 fault on her. My order was ready an hour and a half after the start of my scheduled delivery window because there was no staff to help this woman. I had 2 small children at home waiting for dinner I picked up that arrived at bedtime cold. I realize people call out and staff shortages happen but there was barely anyone in the parking lot. Someone else working in that store should have been able to help this woman out to catch up so she wasn’t a hour and a half behind schedule. 15 even 20 minutes is understandable. But an hour and a half? Why was no one else helping her?

Unable to drop off boxes at FedEx drop off. Woman was condescending and dismissive when I asked why. I’m only inquiring so that I can find an appropriate drop off location. Ironically, this is where I picked them up!

This place is trash. I’m actually pissed because I was trying to get some crab legs. They close at six and 1 Guy said he don’t think anybody was even in today and nobody even knows where the Manager is. I mean why would you close this early? Us working people getting home pretty late and to close seafood area before 7pm is not good for business. So I left and it’s Giant from now on.

The staff at Dunkirk Safeway, including the management, cashiers, deli, meat/seafood department and pharmacy, is very friendly and willing to help customers. The store is neat and well-stocked. The manager is often seen out on the floor or in various departments assuring that shelves are well stocked and that things are running smoothly.

We've tried the online system and it or the staff always messes the order up. Every. Single. Time. Their in-house staff is curt and rude. Today, the pick-up attendant chastised me for not using the app correctly then punctured a carton of milk in my vehicle. We will not be going back and recommend going elsewhere.

I love the produce section in Safeway. It is always well-stocked, and everything looks good! Today they had a special section in the meat dept where you could pick 4 packages for $19.99. You could pick from chicken breast (boneless & skinless), wings plain or seasoned, drumsticks and thighs, boneless pork loin chops, beef patties, sirloin steak or strip, and even Cod. This is a Great deal given the price of food these days.The store overall was well stocked with a lot of savings to be had! Great shopping experience!

Went in late for a couple things. Zero registers open at all. Employee rushing out the door didn't even stop to answer my question asking where the cashiers were. He just said after 10 they switch (9:45 at this time). Safeway just lost a family as customers. Harris teeter right across the street had live person at register. PLENTY AMERICANS NEED JOBS, HIRE THEM OR GIVE THEM MORE HOURS

They usually always have what I need and the store is always clean. They have great prices on top of value member savings. The pharmacy staff is especially amazing, I just had surgery recently and I needed a few things to dress the wound and keep it clean. I paid with my HSA card (yes they accept that) but I didn't have enough to cover everything and so the pharmacist on duty went and got her card! She paid 20 bucks for the rest of my stuff and then gave it to me. She said that she knew I needed the items and what's the point if you can't do something nice for someone every now and again!! Thank you to all the pharmacy staff, you guys are always always always on point.

It is with sincere regret that I’m writing this review. I called the Dunkirk, Safeway at about 4:00pm on 8/26/22 and spoke with Sheila. I needed to bring some grapes back that my daughter said were molded. We had to travel so I could not immediately return the grapes. When I spoke to Sheila today she assured me that I could bring them back w/o a receipt at my convenience. So I said I’m headed that way, I’ll bring them back today.However when I arrived at the store around 4:35pm, it was a different story with Brad. Brad did everything to NOT PROVIDE Customer Service. I wanted to return the the grapes as I was informed that I could. He said, “Do you have a receipt?” Me: “No I was told that I didn’t need one!” Brad: “Well I can’t take them back and we don’t even carry that brand. I know because I stock the produce!” I insisted that I got them at Safeway. He told me that I did not and you’ve had them too long! Then I was told that if I had my receipt that I could return them. So which one is it??? Then he says “Well they must belong to Giant because you brought them back in a Giant bag! Huh???Me: “The Giant bag doesn’t matter, I bought them here! Do they belong to Safeway or not???” He became annoyed with me and rolled his eyes. I was pretty much done after that. He said, “Well you can take them to Safeway in Prince Frederick!” me: “I’m not going all the way down there when I live up here!” So the most disrespectful thing that came out of this young man’s mouth was after this comment; Me: “Well Giant doesn’t do this to their Customers!” Brads response!!! “We’ll You can go to Giant then!” I was livid!!! And yes I told him, “You’re NASTY!!!! What Employee would tell a Customer that you can GO TO OUR COMPETITOR???!!! REALLY!!???The trip is, I went right to the Produce Dept. and went straight to the Brand and took a picture to show them. YESSSS you do carry this brand. All he had to do was scan the product.So in one visit for less than a $10 refund we had a disrespectful Employee, No Customer Service. and an I don’t care attitude of “You can go to Giant then!”Oh yeah, if he denies what he said, my girlfriend was on the phone, heard everything, and recorded part of the conversation. This was AWFUL!!!

The store’s staff is generally polite and efficient. However, even though their pharmacy touts walk-in vaccines, they were not able to accommodate me. I understand if they are having staff shortages, but they should change their voicemail to reflect that. Furthermore, they have signs plastered all over indicating walk-in vaccines….. if you can’t provide the service, take down the signs and change your voicemail.Thank you

I ordered for pickup. I didn't have to wait very long, the associate came out, did not address me, put the groceries in the car and walked away. She said nothing to me. I will think again before I order for pickup. The staff in the store are much more friendly.

This store is very clean. When I visited on 17 March 2020, the store was well stocked and offered a wide variety of nationally renown, gourmet and international products. All of the employees I encountered and interacted with were very pleasant and professional. I drive 10 miles out of the way to shop at this store because it is such a well run establishment.

I was unable to find LA Looks hair gel (this happens frequently). The rotisserie chicken was not available until 10:30. I would have had to wait an hour for it.The employees were pleasant and helpful.

This store is always clean and we'll stocked. I love the produce, meat, bakery and deli departments All the employees are OUTSTANDING!!! They are very friendly and helpful The Safeway brand products have always been equal or better than brand names. My favorite thing about Safeway is the prices!! Not just the sales but the everyday. THE SHOPPING CENTER AND PARKING ARE BETTER THAN ANY GROCERY STORE IN THE COUNTY!!! If you're in a hurry its the store to go to!!!

This Safeway is always clean and well stocked (it was just missing a few frozen breakfast items I was looking for). The only reason why I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because Safeway insists on hiring the most rude deli people. No acknowledgement when I got to the counter, and there were no other customers there. The worker was cutting deli meats for another worker and continued to do so and ignoring me for the first 5-7 minutes I was there. Then she gave an attitude to the other worker shouting that her order was finished. She yelled to me from the furthest point in the deli without looking at me, "can I help you", no eye contact or care for her job at all whatsoever. I would have ordered more but she seemed very irritated with each item I added. So disappointed Safeway can't hire someone who actually wants a job.

It's a Safeway, nothing too special. I always keep an eye on the produce. If you don't that's when you'll get the bad ones. The restrooms are abysmal but other than that the store is just fineEdit:I dropped my rating because the restroom here has actually gotten worse. Well take a look at the pictures... A handyman with a few hundred dollars in materials could work wonders. And goodness knows we have quite a few handy folks r around here that could accomplish these tasks and would definitely appreciate the business.

My husband and I purchase our groceries at Safeway once each week. We are pleased with everything except the checkout. Because we always have large orders our choice of checkouts is limited to those that serve large orders and with only a few large orders in front of of the wait time can be lengthy while those with smaller orders are quickly served at the checkouts for smaller orders. We feel discriminated against because of our large order. Everyone should be served equally. Those with smaller orders can always use the self serve checkouts if they are in a rush. We have tried self serve checkouts, but they are impractical with large orders.This is not an issue with the Safeway stores we use; it is a serious issue with Safeway's company wide policy on serving customers during checkout. We have had many friendly conversations with other large order customers and they share the same viewpoint.

The grocery selection in Dunkirk isn't great. Its Safeway, Giant or Harris Teeter. Safeway is the oldest store and the parking lot of the shopping center isnt great with its massive speed bumps. The store itself is okay. Prices here seem to be a little better than at Giant or HT. It was clean however and had a pretty good selection. I always have to go to one of the other stores too if I need to find everything on my list.

Every single time I go in they over charge me. They either don’t take the sale prices off or the just for you coupons aren’t deducted. On average I am over charged at least $5-$10 every visit then when I check my receipt and go to the customer service she always acts like I am inconveniencing her. I prefer Safeway to the competition just hate having to scrutinize every single item when I go there.

I happen to like this Safeway. The staff is nice & they actually stock the store very well. I am always on the hunt for bags of Peanut Butter Ritz Bitz & this is one of the only stores that keeps them in stock. The bakery dept is wonderful. They always go above & beyond to accommodate my requests. I really like the bakery manager. Additionally, the head pharmacist is consistently very nice & Accommodating.One criticism: get new large carts- or at least get rid of all the old squeaky rusted out carts. I have an infant & toddler & it's so frustrating that after I get them all strapped into a cart that seems okay enough at first sight- then come to find out that a wheel is broken, or a piece of metal is hanging on the floor- of course I only notice this once I start pushing the cart with my kids I. Tow. Then I have to unbuckle them, select another cart & rest rap them back in. By this point I have wasted 15 mins. The old carts really are a safety hazard. Safeway, please get on top of this & replace the old, unsafe carts.

I always prefer Safeway over Giant especially for the quality of meat but it's slowly going down hill over the past year with what seems to be management change. Most of the staff are not friendly and seem to go out of their way to avoid making contact with you. I went to use the water fountain last week and it was disgusting. Looks like it hasn't been cleaned in quite some time. The rollers in the dairy (milk) cooler are caked up with filth and looks as though nobody has cleaned them in some time as well. Nearly everyone working there seem to be thinking of something other than making it a pleasant experience with shopping there. I overhear more and more people complaining about the Dunkirk Safeway and look for that store to close if major changes don't take place.

I’m a long-time customer at Safeway, although there is an employee that I normally try to avoid or have been going to other Grocery stores around the area like Giant or Harris teeter her name is Sheelah. She is extremely rude, and unprofessional. I have even seen her be rude to her coworkers as well. I was surprised to learn that she has not been fired due to her inappropriate performance. And when I have time I will like to speak to her Manager about Sheelah.
