First time visiting here and it is absolutely beautiful.Well maintained. Great views of the aqueduct and the area around it. Paths are excellent and great for hiking, running, walking, jogging, biking and bird watching. I walked south about two miles and the towpath is wide and flat. There is a huge grassy area to have a picnic and play with the kids.Lots of history and signage to help explain and educate yourself on the history and aqueduct. There is plenty of parking and two huge built in restrooms.

An absolutely beautiful place to run. The bridge going over the mouth of the Monacacy is just stunning and seems well-preserved. Going upriver about 6-6.5 miles will get you to Point of Rocks. The trail is flat and well-maintained. Saw a few other walkers, runners, and bikers but crowds were overall minimal. Highly recommend although the roads leading to the parking lot are quite narrow. Parking is plentiful.

We walked from Monocacy to Noland's Ferry back and forth. The trail was mostly flat so it's appropriate for running and walking.

What an incredible feat of engineering. This is an amazing bridge that carried the C&O Canal over the Monocacy river. They've done a wonderful job of preserving this wonderful piece of history.

The Monocacy Aqueduct is one of the finest examples of a canal structure in the United States, with original construction started in 1829. A true engineering marvel and set in one of the most beautiful and idyllic settings along the C&O canal. A wonderful place to spend the day or even an overnight at one of the nearby campsites. A treasure and perhaps for those unfamiliar with the C&O, a hidden gem to discover.

I love this place! Great stories about rebels tried to blow it up but couldn't before saving by union troops. Very peaceful now. I ride my bike and have a picnic and walk around. Built to last. All in all it's a little surreal.

This is a very nice historical park and a great entry onto the C & O Canal, with the Monocacy River flowing into the Potomac River. A very scenic area rich in the history of the Maryland region. Highly recommend !!!

Beautiful starting point with a nice bridge to sit on. The trail runs along the river and the train tracks, which is very cool and pretty. The trail is well kept with mile markers and gravel. There are intermittent points to stop for a picnic with maps and info placards. Some of these areas are also made for hikers and bikers to camp.

A really great spot to pick up the canal hiking trail. Historically a very nice spot. There are old lock stations along the hiking way. Nice woods to protect from cold breeze in winter walking season. Picnic area along the river is very nice. Great grass for playing it. Parking area fits a number of cars and has a bathroom available.

Beautiful scenery and wildlife on the C & O Canal make this site worth the visit. We hiked 4 miles on the canal southward from the Aquaduct. Saw deer, snakes, birds, and other mammals. Beautiful colors in fall.

This is a great place to hike along the canal. So many sights, a lock, lock house, and the aqueduct it self. Go relax and take your dog for a walk and enjoy. Go futher north to the 60 and up mile markers and enjoy a lot of old history.

Great place to walk or bike. Good photo opportunity. Lots of birds. My only issue is that the C and O canal lacks the available resources to open the entire length of the canal for boating as in Britain. This being the case, it is a sad reminder of Americans ignoring their cultural and natural resources and our politicians feeding the wealthy instead of promoting a healthy national identity.

Beautiful spot. Tow path for biking and walking. Very limited parking. Can't say I like the horses on the path. Watch where you step and ride.

Took the trip on a bike, up the C&O canal towpath from Georgetown. Spent the night there and rode back the next day. That was summer of 1976 and now, nearly 45 years later, I can still remember the beauty of the area.
